I placed a large catering order for a party recently there was a little confusion with my order which was OK by me and then I ordered the seafood Cippolini which was supposed to be comprised of scallops shrimp mussels and clams. After the prices changed several times since I initially placed my order in the span of one month when the Cippolini finally arrived the scallops were bay scallops ... Just had breakfast here. We've been here before and it's usually better than what we experienced today. My wife ordered the pancakes and I got an omelet. The food came out really quick which should have sent up some red flags. The pancakes were like rubber and cold. My home fries were definitely not freshly prepared and were cold. Very disappointed in this place today. Breakfast came to $45 which I feel is on the high side for what we got. Many other options available in the area. Not sure if I'd return or not. We've driven past this place quite a few times and my fiancé follows their social media. Today was my first day of summer break as a teacher and we wanted to celebrate with breakfast. We made a great choice! The staff is very friendly and kind. The food and drinks are delicious and everything came out quickly. I had fried cauliflower on biscuits and couldn't put down my fork until I was stuffed. Taylor Sams is a breakfast & lunch eatery with pizazz. When you walk in, the lighting & ambiance looks really cheerful and the staff greets you at the door. Before I was seated I noticed there's a coffee area in the front where if you just want to get coffee you can sit in that so-called anteroom or take it out. There's a sign there stating half-price coffee in the mid afternoon during the week. It was late morning so I decided to get lunch even though breakfast is served throughout the day. Matty, a very personable server, touted her wares. I decided to order THE MOLLY and coffee. The MOLLY is served on two soft or hard tacos. You choose. It consists of carne asada steak (skirt steak), cheddar cheese, pico de gallo( salsa sauce), chipotle sauce ( a salsa w/yoghurt) w/Black bean and corn salsa on the side. Delicious. Ordered eggs benedict, the eggs were cooked all the way through with no runny yolk. Eggs benedict is supposed to be cooked with a runny yolk in the middle. The potatoes were bland. The waitress seemed confused about whether or not she had taken our order or gotten our check. She also commented when we arrived that we better "hurry up because we're expecting lots of tables to fill up", and then proceeded to take a very long time to give us our check so we could actually "hurry up" and leave. I went to have breakfast with a friend and i got there a few minutes before my friend. The place had plenty of free tables. I told the hostess i wanted to sit at a table and have coffee and wait for the friend. she said, "no everyone has to be here for you to be seated, i can get you a coffee and you can stand over there by the door" with plenty of tables open that pissed me off. I could see if there were very few tables open, but that was not the case. I waited out side with no coffee and friend came and we had breakfast, which was Okay. they do drinks really well. my personal favorite is the urban train, it's my favorite spiced chai around. as for food, the menu is a bit limited and the food quality is about average. typically i order out from this place and i haven't had any issues in terms of a messed up order or missing items. on the other hand when i sat in and ate at the restaurant i had a less-than-satisfactory experience-- extremely long wait times and when my food arrived at the table is was already cold. read more

This is better than any of the diners in Brick, and head and shoulders above the Turning Point on Rt. 70, which incidentally was a great place initially when they had one location in Holmdel years ago. But. alas such is progress. I am sure that the McDonald brothers made an awesome burger some 60 years ago when they had *one* restaurant. But I digress, getting back to Taylor Sam's, the quality keeps bouncing in my experience; or maybe I should just stick to the simple stuff, like omelets and pancakes. About a week ago, I stopped in for lunch. I ordered the Miss Piggy taco, filled with pulled pork and coleslaw. It would have been good, if it wasn't so tart... OK, I'm being kind, it tasted sour as if someone got happy with the vinegar. I sent it back. When I have to send something back, it ruins the whole dining experience for me. I then asked to talk to the owner. The last critical review I left was followed by a response from one of the owners that I should have voiced my dissatisfaction to the owners directly instead of just leaving and then critiquing my meal. And he was right. (I noticed that they have since deleted that response.) Anyway, the manager came over, explained that the owner was not there, and apologized profusely while offering an explanation that the sourness was probably due to the coleslaw. Now I have had sandwiches & tacos with coleslaw on them before and they never were this tart. I'm speculating, but maybe the coleslaw has been sitting and the vinegar settled. Regardless, before you serve something, taste the ingredients. I really like this place and would like to give it a five star review. Read my initial review to see how enamored I was when they first opened. Most of the food is very good, the coffee always rocks, and service is excellent. I know that they have a second location in Red Bank. That may be a better location with more traffic. I really don't know, since I have never been to that there. I just hope that the Brick location does not become the stepchild. read more
