1.) MAJOR Theft/Safety/Security Issues with Markel Homes Employees…read more * Safety Concern #1: A gun was stolen from my home after Markel Homes Employees and/or Contractors accessed my property (after closing) to complete repair work warranty work items. The gun was subsequently "magically" returned after I filed a police report and emailed Markel Homes employees (only), alerting them to the theft. There are further details regarding Markel employees' access to my home after closing and other information that I am leaving out for brevity's sake. * Safety Concern #2: Myself and at least 3 other witnesses confirmed that Markel contractors were seen drinking on the job throughout the day (as early as 11am) on multiple days. Markel Homes maintains they take *strict* security and safety measures, however Jason Markel and other Markel employees were completely unaware of this happening. * I installed a security system and cameras at my home after these two unsettling incidents. One video clearly shows contractors come to my home, looking around, and leaving after they noticed the doorbell camera. I provided this video to Jason Markel and he could not provide a reasonable explanation for why his contractors were on my property, only that he agreed it was of concern. The workers were working at a different house down the street and I have a "Private Owner" sign in front to make it obvious that the residence is occupied. * Despite having video evidence and a stolen (and returned) firearm, Markel refused to take ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER for their employees or do anything to anything to make it right. Markel took the position that I've "already received enough 'concessions' when {I} originally negotiated the purchase of the house," which obviously has zero relation to these current issues beyond illustrating that they pay little if any regard to their customers once they have their money in hand. 2.) Warranty Items and Repairs Remain Incomplete 6 Months After Closing (as of the date of this review). * We closed on 9-24-2019, and Markel has completed only ONE of the many warranty/punch list items they "promised" to complete. I have contacted Markel *and* the warranty company no less than 10 times (if not more), and typically receive a response with an excuse for why they are unable to complete the repair at this time OR they send someone to complete the repairs, however the "completed" items have turned out as bad or worse than the item was to begin with. 3.) Sloppy, Rushed, and Cavalier Work. * Countless instances of sloppy, sub-par work (see photos for just a few examples). Photos were taken of the house at 4 months old, lest you think the work looks as though it's several years old. 4.) General attitude of unhelpfulness and condescension throughout the company. * Markel does an excellent job at making you think *you* are the problem, not their slapdash, careless workmanship or fraudulent employees. It was my understanding that, in the past, Markel Homes has been a quality builder, however, with their entrance into the non-custom home market, it is clear they have very little to offer clients but a "take it or leave it" approach to home building and a reflexive "No."

David and Amanda are a wonderful team to work with! I cannot recommend them enough. When I learn…read moreanyone is in the market or wants to list a home I instantly provide the contact information for their team. They are so kind and easy going with a no pressure approach. Our entire buying process was so effortless and smooth. My husband and I planned to house shop in spring of 2020, however one evening right before Christmas 2019 we found a house on Zillow that caught our eye. We both said why not and wanted to take a look at it. We had not found a realtor yet neither been pre-approved as we planned to wait for spring. After doing some quick research on skilled realtors in the property area we came across the Hakimi team's outstanding references. I made a contact request and within no time, minutes really, David reached out and made arrangements to view the property the following day. We met and instantly felt comfortable and in good hands with David. His experience in both the selling side and knowledge of the financial side helped gear us in the right direction to start our pre-approval process with great lenders and begin our home search. As he learned about us and our likes he tailored and provided us with links to similar homes to expand our search in the area we wanted. This is part of the services they provide and it is extremely helpful! He pointed out exceptional details even what could be potential issues within homes. We had not considered a new build as they usually do not have a decent yard or spacing in between homes. He provided all the pros and cons for used and new to help with our determination which in turn opened up more homes for us to see. He made himself more than available for showings and meetings. In fact when we found our new home, we were working that weekend with Amanda on David's behalf while he was out of town. He drove straight from the airport to meet us at the builder's sales office to go over the contract we would be signing. As mentioned Amanda took over working with us for that weekend and she too went above and beyond to meet with us when we found something last minute that we wanted to see. She met with us to view properties even with an already scheduled full day of showings on her plate. She also provided us an updated list of other potential properties with our must haves to check out. We ended up finding our home because Amanda knew of a neighborhood that had all the specifics we were looking for. Her knowledge in the area brought us to our new community and we signed the sales contract on a new build that same day. All through the process which was about 4 months in total for construction to be completed, they constantly checked in, they attended all walk throughs and provided helpful input when there was some loan issues. They were simply wonderful since the very beginning. We felt like we had known them forever and were working with friends. They truly have your best interests in mind and are in it for all the right reasons. I am very grateful for their communication and all their efforts. David even continued to follow up after our move offering to let us borrow any necessary tools if needed since moving and knowing what box your tools are in is not always possible. We look forward to having a drink with them to celebrate their work in finding our dream home!

He was a great resource for things I would have never thought of had we not used a realtor through the process. He stayed in touch and was always available to answer questions during the 8 month process and was flexible with dates and timing on closing due to delays from the builder. Can't recommend enough, very knowledgeable of the Erie/Broomfield area. 10/10

I'd give 0 stars if I could. They suck you in with kindness just to sh!t on you later…read more In October of 2022 my wife and I decided to check out LGI. Upon going into the office we were greeted by Derrick who was fantastic, so good in fact we purchased our home the next day. Unfortunately shortly after he got moved to a new location and everything went downhill from there. We decided to close in early December and were told the house was going to be completed on November 3rd. We walked the house multiple times took notes of things that didn't seem right and communicated with LGI about them weekly. We had to do our home walk through and orientation 1 hour before our closing because Tyler the construction manager couldn't manage to do it earlier. On our walk through 90% of things we were concerned about never got fixed, we were told word for word "I think we've built a perfect house with a few imperfections". It was so bad I had to threaten not purchasing the house until they agreed to fix the issues. I then had to take an entire week off to be home while all the things got fixed and still to this day not everything has been fixed!! Our first month living in our home we practically didn't have heat in our house because they forgot to install ventilation all of our heat was going into the crawl space. Once we got someone out to fix that we discovered that whatever they did we do not have power to the crawl space or our garage! (yes the breaker is on). 2 months in we are still waiting for a cabinet in our master bathroom. Tyler the original construction manager was let go due to lack of quality. Which I can agree with. The new construction manager Jordan is unfortunately no better. I've had warranty claims submitted for weeks and I haven't even gotten as much as a phone call. I'd really like it if my garage door worked. I had some questions the other day and was told that EVERYONE in the office was on vacation for a week so that was extremely inconvenient. My best friend of 20 years and his wife moved in next door. I was hoping they would have a better experience but unfortunately the quality of their house was worse than ours was. I was hoping they would take better care of them than they did us as a redemption but it's very clear they don't care. This is only scratching the surface of the issue we've had and I could go on to write a short story. Our fence was broke and not secured, light fixtures hanging off the ceiling, chipped doors and trim, unfinished carpet... the list goes on forever. If you're thinking about buying a high quality home that's move in ready I can almost guarantee that you WONT find it here. DO BETTER LGI!
