I've gone to this T&C for about two years now (first appointment was August/2021). Since this is one of those "they employer the barbers" places rather than "the barbers own the place" situations, barbers have changed over time. So has the quality and excellence of service. My first appt, two years ago, was gifted by my spouse for my birthday. It was the $60 deluxe. I'd guess it was an hour of haircut, pampering, facial treatment, straight razor trim, etc. Really really wonderful. That barber was also the barber I had the next time, and that was great. Then she left. In the two years that have ensued, the quality of care and the degree of effort feel like they've steadily decreased. My first two visits were Special. Now it feels like going to a Supercuts. Well, two years later, I just came back from my latest T&C appointment, still getting the $60 "Haircut, beard trim with straight razor line up." These days I'm no longer bearded but this morning decided to not get a shave so I could get the full experience. If there's one thing you should pretty much be able to count on, it's that a package description that refers to a straight razor will include the use of a straight razor. The whole thing was about 20-25 minutes. In that whole time, a straight razor didn't get within a foot of my head. He did 'shave' me ... using a standard electric foil shaver. For what I got, I could -- should -- have spent a lot less than $60. I think it's time to move on and find another, more traditional, barber -- or go to the other end of the spectrum and actually go to a Nice[tm] haircutting place. They all left with razor burn, cuts on the head and even the cheek! 24 hours later, one groomsman is even developing large red bumps from the haircut. This was a very expensive mistake. I called the shop today, 24 hours later, the stylist who answered did not seem to care, be apologetic or even help remedy the situation. WORST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE!!!!! Went to get a trim and showed the barber multiple pictures of my previous haircut and asked for it to be a little shorter in the back but otherwise the same. I told him I have curly hair so it looks longer wet and it's a little different from normal hair. HE CUT IT ALMOST ALL OFF. This is the WORST haircut of my life. My hair has not been this short is over a decade and it will take months to grow back. He then got mad at me because I was not talking to him but he cut my hair with my back to the mirror. Got a great cut from Kyle who clearly pays close attention to detail. $35 cut included a hot lather neck shave and shampoo with a warm towel on the face. Very chill down to earth shop playing solid selection of music. Most barbers were younger tattooed dudes, devoid of the typical bro talk about cheating on wives was refreshing. Exactly what you would expect. Clean, modern barber shop with 10+ people rotating. They offer the typical beard, coloring, and shave. Beforehand, they offer coffee/water and have a bar seating area to chill beforehand. Would definitely recommend making an appointment as it does get randomly busy. Griffin always does me good. I'm very picky and judge barbers by their attention to detail. He left clean lines in the front and back and spent 15 mins shaping and feathering. Solid cut and better time. read more

Ok, this is my very first review on Yelp and sadly it's gonna be a negative one. I got a haircut from Luke and I asked for a very short fade... which he delivered, very poorly, especially on the back. Before the cut, I specifically told him that my bone is a little sticking out on the back of my head. Before I finished talking, he assured me that it's ok and he can handle it. The result is... this uneven mess. The fade line is not gradual nor straight. Also as you can see in the pic, there's literally no transition from the 0 length at the bottom to the top... it's a very sudden and uneven fade. Unfortunately had booked an appointment here for boyfriend and they completely ruined his under cut, it's so high now and obviously nothing can fix it. Really enjoyed my first visit here in early November, and wish that this place had been in existence when I worked at an office across the street from it. Looking forward to the next opportunity to visit and get a sharp cut. The understated (to me) decor inside was surprising, but welcoming. No blaring sports TVs or anything like that, and a well-thought out use of the moderate amount of interior space. One of the male stylists, Kyle, worked with me and showed a good grasp of what I was looking for, delivering an edgy style I received several compliments on. Stopped by and got a fresh cut by Brandi. I was able to graduate walking the stage with my fresh cut. What she did that was awesome was refer me to some cool spots to check out in Detroit. She told me to check out Eastern Market and Bell Isle. My wife and I spent 4 hours at Eastern Market and we were able to take some cool graffiti mural pics there as well at the surrounding buildings. The haircut and beard trim were fine. Nothing to write home about and I don't think the high prices they charge is warranted by the service. One time I left with a ton of hair all over my face - you could barely see it at all - which was pretty embarrassing as I didn't even realize this until the next time I looked in the mirror. Just went in for a new summer hair cut. Kelley cut my hair and did a fantastic job. I didn't know what I wanted so she pulled out one of the many iPads they have around and helped me find something I'd like. They have a nice old school barbershop feel with a modern twist, straight razor neck shave mint steam towels on your face, great way to treat your self.
