Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing from start to finish. After traveling all day, we arrived for an early dinner, between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. as Yelp showed the restaurant was open. We were met by the owner, who, while allowing us to come in, was noticeably unfriendly and came across as rude, which set a negative tone for the meal. We chose this restaurant because of the outstanding Yelp reviews, especially the praise for the pasta dishes. One of the main reasons we ordered the Cacio e Pepe was because several reviews described it being prepared in an authentic cheese wheel. That was not our experience. It was not prepared as expected, and spinach had been added to the dish even though it was not shown in any of the photos we had seen beforehand. Because of that unexpected ingredient, our daughter wouldn't eat it, which was very disappointing. We also ordered the spicy chicken, and it was, unfortunately, the worst chicken my husband and I have ever had. It contained a lot of bones, was extremely fatty, with very little meat, and was simply unpleasant to eat. Considering the quality of the food, the discrepancy between what was advertised and what was served, and the unfriendly service, we did not feel the meal was worth the price. I had a very pleasant dining experience at Taverna Sacchetti. The owner is friendly and the food was good. I had the Penne Arrabbiata and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon while waiting for my laundry in this quaint area close to my hotel in the Central Park location. Every time I visit Rome, I always dine here. So many places were hit hard by COVID, but this family restaurant made it and still retains the charm it had prior! Besides being wallet friendly, the food is delicious! Authentic handmade pasta! For €20 I had fettuccine di Pepe, bottled water, Prosecco, and tiramisu! They prepared my pasta in a pecorino cheese wheel, as God intended! I have been coming here since 2016 and will continue to visit every time I'm here! Don't miss out! Visiting Rome with family of 4 for 4 days and staying at nearby Marriott Courtyard mid-July 2022. Read past reviews that were raving. My wife missed lunch so we stopped in at 4 pm for early dinner. Waiter was nice and friendly but had very limited English and got my wife's order wrong. Food was very slow to come out and tasted ok but was below expectations. Wife's plate was the last to come out after 45 min and three rest of us had finished our plates. She ate it anyway bc didn't want to have to wait for replacement. Local people were done with their meals and gone before his food came. Fries and sausage! We spent a ton. Also my son's food took forever and several drinks forgotten. Waiter just shrugged and said "we are busy" and refused to help with the bill. Truth is we are out of towners so they couldn't care less. We needed some help but we were respectful. Great example of a local, family run joint. We were way out of the city center in a mostly antipastoworking class suburban area close to Gamelli university. We had a fantastic Caprese salad and delightful plate of meats cheese etc. not to mention the rustic toast with olive oil! I had the penne all arribiatta which was quite tasty with a nice little kick, though perhaps not a amazing as I had hoped. What was quite amazing was the Salsice alla Griglia (may not have that one right) but it's a sausage sample that is simply fantastic. Pitcher of house red and white are both solidly good and super affordable at 5 euros a liter. If you ever find yourself in the Gamelli University area I highly recommend this quaint little Taverna :-) read more

I read other yelp reviews and decided to try this place. Looks can be deceiving from the outside. Extremely happy with the food. We had pasta with tomato sauce and chicken diavola. I have never had pasta like this. So fresh and authentic. Chicken was very tasty but do keep in mind that it does have bones and doesn't come with anything except chicken. The bread they serve you - amazing. My only criticism is that they're short-staffed so service took a bit longer but well worth the wait and trip. Very close to the Marriott Hotel/Gemelli train station. Quite a bit of locals and take-out too. read more

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at this family run restaurant which was awesome. The owners speak English and mostly locals go here so you know the food is authentic. It was a short 5 minute walk from the courtyard Marriott where we were staying. The 1/5 liter house white and red wines were fantastic and a steal at $6 each. We just came back from Rome and one thing we wanted to do is to eat like home, an Italian home, I have Taverna Sacchetti as one of the restaurants where we will eat mainly because it was close to the courtyard hotel and second because of their excellent reviews, when we got there my wife asked the front desk for a good place to eat and guess what? She recommended Taverna Sacchetti!! we tried it the first day we spend there, a rainy one, we met Mauro, their food is so delicious and service a five stars, I like how they do the math when we asked for the bill, he brings a pen and a piece of paper and ask you what did you eat, they just trust you, I haven't see that in the US, I definitely recommend them! read more

This is a really cute family owned restaurant a couple of blocks away from the Marriott courtyard hotel There was no sign on the building or the front of the door so you didn't know you were there until you walked inside It was a small place about 10 tables I believe the owner was also our waiter He treated us so well. Spoke really good English, and even gave our girls a complementary pastry for dessert They have paper tablecloth's which was pretty cool. And when we were done the owner figured up our tab on the tablecloth it was really neat The food was delicious and the price was amazing reasonable I would go back for sure read more

So before we went I read all the reviews even the hotel said we must try. So we walked to the restaurant from hotel Pineta expecting great service & meal. We walked in & wanted to sit by the window, there was only one other couple in the restaurant, we were told to sit at a back table, it was about 3:30pm on Tuesday. Then he asked for our drinks, we said 2 colas, during our dinner he would walk around us glanced down at my husbands empty cola bottle & never asked if we wanted another. Actually after we finished our meal he finally asked us if our food was good. We were completely ignored the entire time, keep in mind it was just us and another couple in the restaurant. A young man came out as we were getting up to leave & told us thank you for coming in. He said more to us than our waiter. Looks a little dingy at first but once you're seated by the nice waiters and served a deliciously toasted piece of bread, the atmosphere adds to the allure.
