Stopped here for Happy Hour after work and had a really great experience. I was expecting the bar to be divey, but it was actually suuuper nice inside. I got the T29 IPA with Mac n cheese for dinner and it was delicious. The food was flavorful and came out super quickly. Staff was beyond friendly and service was excellent. I pass by this play all the time coming home from work and finally stopped in and glad I did. Definitely with the visit. read more

Great happy hour spot, met up with my husband here since it's close to his job. Delicious comfort food. We had the chicken quesadilla, caesar salad, tavern burger and french fries. For drinks, I had a moscow mule and he had an old fashioned. Service was good and accommodating. Love the ambiance, it's a 3 level floor with a rooftop biergarten. We went on a Tuesday, when the weather was 90 degrees, only complaint is that it was so hot inside with no AC. My husband went back again the next day with his friends, he also said there was still no AC that evening. We had a good time and will definitely be back. read more

I went here with coworkers out of convenience. I went with a bacon burger, sweet potato fries and pineapple juice. The burger was OK. The fries are good. The Juice was very water down? Typical uninterested service, furthering my bais towards Mr Pink. The interior is classic with lots of wood, great ambiance. read more

Nice rooftop for a happy hour after work! Hosted a networking event for 30 people and the space was nice with the weather being cooler after raining for a bit. The event manager was very easy to talk to to coordinate this :) Would come back again to try their happy hour food deals next time since I was too busy yesterday. read more

Our group of 10 made reservations to grab brunch here for Pride this year. They weren't busy, so it was nice to have the space to ourselves, although not quite as lively. Most of us got Bottomless Brunch ($25pp), which included mimosas, bellini, bloody mary, and more. I like that not everyone in the table was required to participate, so less pressure for those who didn't want to day drink. We each ended up drinking a carafe, which fills up about 3 glasses full. I enjoyed the bellini most since it's stronger and more refreshing. The drinks do come premade, so they're not made too strong. Also, wish they had more flavors to choose from. For food, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles ($20). I wish I opted for the fries as the side, but was given the home fries by default if you don't say anything. This comes as an open face sandwich essentially. I did like the combo of the crispy chicken, bacon, pickles, and spicy aioli but this was a bit messy fo eat. Overall, good option for bottomless brunch; but not that memorable in my book either. read more

Used to come here all the time when we lived in the city - popped back in for some drinks and lunch - still one of the best spots! Nicest staff, so friendly and welcoming- love the casual vibe, and lots to choose from on the menu! Never disappoints! read more

Went here on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy. The pretzel was great. Nice and soft. Had good flavor. It didn't even need the dip. The fries had a weird taste to them. I don't know if they weren't cooked enough or if it was the oil. Eventually they made the music super loud when a group arrived. Between the loud group and the music blasting you had to scream to be heard which I'm not a fan of. I would go back if I was in the neighborhood. The staff were nice. read more

(Last visited 1/1/2023.) After celebrating New Year's Even in NYC, it's time to start the year off right, with mo' drankin'! Lol. We booked a brunch here at Taven29 because we loved it so much last time. Here's why! Atmosphere/Appearance: It's exactly a Tavern. They didn't lie in the name. Lol. Lots of light woods with a light, bubbly atmosphere. There are TVs behind the bar you can check out if you're here for a sporting event. Up front they have these super cute alcoves that you can sit in where you feel like you're separated from the rest of the restaurant. We sat here on our first visit, but at the bar on our 2nd. Service: I can't remember who took care of us either time, but we have never had an issue here, especially with having our bottomless mimosas refilled! Food: I've only had the wings here and I love them. Simple, straight to the point. The mimosas are also made to order so if you want light juice, just ask! We love that! Value: This place won't break the bank at all. Which is why it's so appealing. In conclusion, you'll likely see me here again! Make sure you check this place out if you're looking for a good brunch! read more

A friend recommended this spot so we had an awesome $25 buttonless brunch here. Place has 2 floors and a rooftop where we were originally going to sit but we were first customers so rooftop looked sad and it was too hot there at noon in august. We sat in the booth on the first floor (2 people), place was empty so we had privacy. Waiter was very nice and attentive, kept mimosas and Bellinis coming, with good amount of champagne as they came premade in regular size glass. Food was delicious (steak & eggs and chicken sandwich), good size portions. 2 hrs is enough time to enjoy this place for brunch, service was good. Will definitely come back and recommend. read more

Pros - The Tavern29 Benedict was good, so was the Buffalo Chicken Dip. - Bottomless Mimosa was tasty too! - Waiter was very nice and engaging with us, making us have a good time while we were having our brunch. Cons - The waiter really didn't check in on us as much during our brunch. We had our cups empty for a while and had to wait for quite a bit. Would I go back? Yeah, just hopefully not the same waiter. read more

This does not seem to be a healthy business. We stopped by twice to make sure our impressions were correct. One Thursday, we got a witty female bartender, who was too soon replaced by a bored looking young man. Then one Friday at Happy Hour, it was tumbleweeds, except for bored-looking staff, the witty lady bartender nowhere in sight. It might be because whatever AC they have feels pretty lackluster, and it's been brutally hot out. But I would also blame the bank of TV screens playing sports no one is watching. Oh, to have a bar that played action movies or sci fi TV shows, just something to not cater to knuckleheads who don't read. Nerds are alcoholics too! Also maybe the awful modern music blaring from the speakers didn't help. We were obvi a Gen X couple, maybe throw us a bone and put on some '80s synth pop and we'd linger. Tap beer did not seem fresh, and there wasn't much selection. Food seems the same as too many bars these days, packaged, frozen, served without passion or style. Fried chicken was undercooked. French fries were super salty. Boyfriend had a bland burger. Given the state of lettuce in this country, we avoided any salad. I remember coming here about five years ago and it was packed at 4 p.m., fancy cocktails and beautifully presented food. What happened? Did you get bought out by private equity? Shame because this is a good location for us near work and the train home. We also like Churchill Tavern around the block, but there food quality has also taken a nosedive. read more

Very cute rooftop. Multiple levels. Great and affordable brunch but they can better their food options

Ordered: Espresso Martini (~$16) Steak & Eggs (~$25): NY strip steak sliced with two sunnyside-up eggs, topped with a romesco sauce, served with home fries Aya's take: I came here with my party of 7 for brunch and although we had a reservation, they were surprisingly not busy at all! They offer bottomless brunch and I appreciate the fact that the whole party doesn't need to participate if they don't want to. I opted for an Espresso Martini which was really well made; it was creamy, not too sweet, and gave me that little caffeine kick I wanted. The Steak & Eggs was just fine. The steak portion was shockingly small - 6 slices of steak is kind of ridiculous. The sunnyside-up eggs weren't seasoned with salt or pepper and the potatoes were decent with some being slightly undercooked. My experience here was pretty average but the service and vibe was good overall. read more

Came here to meet up with a group of friends visiting from out of town for brunch. I think it was a group of 12 or something like that, anyways, we were seated on the 2nd floor. We wanted the rooftop, but due to the rain that day, they closed it off. It is what you expect from a tavern: dark, gloomy, sticky tables. Service could have been more attentive as we had a hard time finding a waiter/waitress at times when our large group needed something. The food also did take a while as they insisted on serving all of the food at once. The food came out instantly for those food that didn't come out in the first wave as those orders were "lost". I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich ($20) and opted for the Parmesan Truffle Fries (+$2). The chicken was well battered and the smoked paprika aioli was what made the sandwich taste great. The fries is as good as you expected it to be. Overall, food tasted great, but the service needs a lot of work. read more

I came here for a work event with a large group. We reserved the second floor. They put up signage at the front door so it was super easy to find our dedicated space. They don't have any signature cocktails, but offered mixed drinks, wine, and beer on tap. I had a glass of their Cabernet Sauvignon. It was on the sweeter side, but pleasantly juicy. Their zucchini marinara pasta tasted better than it looked. The sauce was flavorful and had a hint of spice. Servers came by frequently to clear the tables, which was much appreciated. read more

First time here and came in for bottomless mimosas. Their last seating is at 2:30 and ends at 4, we got there late so we only had an hour instead of the 1.5 hr of bottomless. The place has 3 levels one of which was the rooftop. We were on the 1st floor and the place was extremely hot for us especially when drinking. There was nothing management could do so we felt with it since we were starving, I had the steak and eggs and my friends had the Nutella French toast and chicken burger. My friends really enjoyed her chicken burger as for the rest it was okay nothing great. We did end up enjoying the appetizer wings and chips and guacamole. The rooftop was shady and comfy for drinks. Sadly I wouldn't return since I learned they use draft prosecco for mimosas which for me tasted flat read more

I came for brunch and my honest opinion, it wasn't my favorite. The bottomless brunch was good, the mimosas came in at a decent time and the rooftop was pretty and shaded with its own bar. But my meal, the Chicken and Biscuits specifically, was not it for me and made my friend and I's stomach hurt. The gravy mixed with the egg was just not a good mix. The flavor profile was not an appetizing mix. The French toast my other friend had looked great though, so I would go with that if you do end up coming through. Staff was cool, I just really took issue with that specific dish. I might come back for the rooftop, but as far as brunch goes, just okay. Maybe I just need to try the right dish. Tips: Rooftop not handicap accessible; 2 flights of stairs required Handicap Accessible bathroom on first floor, though a bit of a tight fit. We came here for brunch and bottomless and it wasn't the best experience. We were sat in the second floor and it was very empty and not the best ambience. The service was weird? I felt like our server talked down to us or was preoccupied a lot. I didn't feel bad about it but it was something that felt off. The food was just okay, some of the portions were very small (avocado toast) and some huge ( the chicken and waffles) which was unfortunate. Overall it was okay but I wouldn't come again. read more

Let me start off with I loved my food. It was delicious. I'm mostly middle of the road because while the service wasn't bad per se, it wasn't great. I came in by myself as I'm on a solo trip and I felt extremely uncomfortable the whole time. The servers on the roof barely acknowledged me. It was like I didn't even exist. I had to flag down for a check after I sat there obviously finished 5 feet in front of them. I visited this establishment on Dec 9 for lunch. I've been here before after work, but for drinks once and one other time for apps, which I recall being good. It's a nice place with music. So I chose it when meeting friends in the City because the other places that I wanted to go to either didn't have availability or the reservations would be too late. We arrived early, checked in and was told we would be called at our time so we waited at the bar. We were forgotten. We sat down almost half hour later when I inquired about our seat (1 star removed as there were time constraints). The music this time around was insanely loud. We were yelling to hear each other. I think they may have upped it to create a vibe because it was Santacon (1 star removed). The waiter was super nice and tried making up for the "confusion". We placed our orders. I ordered the the steak and eggs with parm fries and friends ordered the fried chicken sandwich with parm fries and arugula salad with chicken. One order came out missing the chicken because the place was just too loud and he misheard the order. The food was good. Leo the waiter was fantastic. He made things right. The bartender was also great, but can't remember his name. Will I return, sure, but not during Santacon. I'll go again after work but if the music is that loud again, I'll steer clear from this place. No point in going if you can't have a conversation and come out with a sore throat from yelling.j read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday with friends...definitely make a reservation as it gets crowded. We started with bottomless mimosas that will sneak up on you around glass 3 LOL. wear were able to substitute the orange juice w/ pineapple juice so it wasn't too sweet. There are not a lot of seafood or vegan options so I ordered the hangover pizza with no bacon. My food came out first and my friend's food didn't come out for another 15-20 minutes later because the kitchen was backed up. The pizza was just ok. read more

I dined here for a belated birthday dinner. I sorta found this place on a whim; I was in Midtown, and just did a search for a place nearby. Yelp had decent reviews, so I decided, it was with a shot. This was pre- Covid days, so we made our way in and we're taken to the second level. It wasn't crowded--so we basically had a pick of the litter, in terms of seating. They had happy hour-- so we indulged in some house wine and ordered burgers. I was pleased with the service and the food. This place was incredible. We went on a Monday afternoon and sat near the bar. No wait. Happy hour was great in my opinion. I got the tavern29 Pilsner and loved it so much that I got two. The margarita flatbread was also incredible. Flaky cheese on top really made it. I could happily eat that every meal for the rest of my life honestly. My best friend got a burger and fries. The waiter made sure to customize it but the kitchen didn't pay attention to that lol so I got her tomato. Not going to complain about that. She said the garlic aioli on it was magnificent. The playlist when we got in was also great. Nice punk/pop list that we enjoyed. Would go again. read more

Post pandemic, the boys are in the market for a grown up happy hour spot. The interior is narrow but they've done a great job of building out spaces to accommodate multiple parties. There are plenty of TVs to watch sports. The dark brown interior gives off a lowkey speakeasy vibe. There are plenty of beers to choose from around $9 a clip. Book on OpenTable to be safe, in case space gets crowded. I enjoyed the appetizers to nosh on and felt at easy, I think we will be repeat guests. Tavern29 - Mac and cheese and buff chic dip - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New York, New York

Came to Tavern29 the other day for some bottomless brunch and it was a great time for a lot of things, and some things which need to be addressed. So first, we had a reservation, was able to get in and get seated in a nice little nook area and take a look at the menu and get settled, meanwhile, across the way, there was a group of girls having brunch talking with the manager, friends of his obviously, and they were all enjoying themselves, fine. This manager guy was talking with these girls, and then later started taking shots with them, I kid you not, for over AN HOUR AND A HALF, the whole time we were at brunch, it pissed us off so much, being restaurant workers in past jobs. This dude, top knot, whoever he is, is the absolute worst manager, the staff even said he's pretty awful, and if I owned this place I'd fire that dude. He even TURNED AWAY other groups of customers looking to be seated, as the place was packed, and said he didn't care he wanted to hangout with his friends. I hope if whoever reads this owns the place, either put this dude in his place and make him a server AND THEN put our waitress/bartender in his position. She was awesome, she got us all the food, the drinks, was friendly, personable, professional, and took care of THE ENTIRE Restaurant herself. She was a champ. Give her a raise. Or that dudes job since he sucks at it. Food was delicious, bottomless for $25 was a win for everyone, everything else was great. But please, get rid of that awful manager. read more

I would have rated 5 stars if we didn't see the bottom of the bottomless mimosas. The food was great. I had parm fries & chicken sandwich. My friend had chicken fingers. The waitress didn't check on my table for like 30 minutes so I didn't eat my entree when it was hot because I was waiting on sauce. We had to pull her over every time. Service actually sucked really bad - and I used to be a waitress. You should never see a the bottom of bottomless mimosas. read more

I would give Tavern 29 5 stars for their Kobe sliders - no tomatoes or lettuce, only aioli and grilled onions! This has been a req'd meal in NY. For years. But limited travel has kept me away a couple years. Sliders are still the best in midtown- but service- well let's say aloof, distracted, inattentive, slow ...! Second, the side salad is great! I cannot say what dressing was used. I asked for ranch. All I can say it did not have any milk in it. But, it was GREAT! I do suggest a dash of salt (EU style) and pepper. FYI: I did not feel bartender knew the bars beer menu! Tavern 29, I'd love to give you a 5 stars if u fix service!! The Sliders are Mmmmmm Good! Salantie! read more

When your options for travel are limited due to a certain global pandemic, a retreat to a little outdoor space can be the nicest reprieve. Tavern29 provides this outdoor escape via their rooftop, which is neither sprawling nor shoebox, neither upscale nor gritty. Much like the pub itself, it is the Goldilocks of bars, just right for most occasions. I've mostly enjoyed spending warm nights over the summer here, when the sun doesn't set until after 8pm. One a recent, frigid, 30 degree night, so desperate to leave my little apartment, I bundled up to watch some stand up comedy on this rooftop. The heat lamps they proudly advertised did little to keep my extremities from freezing so much they'd shake, but I was thankful for them anyway. The truffle fries were so good though they actually distracted me from the cold. Maybe it's because I'm rarely impressed by American food (especially relative to its cost) or that I've been burned by bar food one time too many, but my expectations for the food at Tavern 29 have always been zero with each visit. I mostly go for the cheap drinks, the rooftop, and the company, but there are a number of dishes here I'd be happy to eat again, most of which are the truffle fries. They tasted like they were made in house, had an amazingly crispy exterior and soft, potatoey interior. I had a generous portion all to myself, which I gladly devoured as I appreciated some stand up comedy in sub 30 degree temperatures in November 2020. An unusual move for sure, but the cocktails and fries made it all worth it. I've also been impressed by their pot of mussels, veggie burger, mac n cheese, burrata toast, and flatbread. They have a really nice beer selection and really friendly service. On the rooftop they had each group spaced out and had plastic dividers separating parties (more for hygiene theater and we're outdoors anyway, but I think any added measure to prevent spit from flying from one party to the next is good). Good ol reliable, Tavern 29. read more

Probably the worst service I've ever had in NYC. It took over an hour to get our food, our water was never refilled (which was served in thimble sized glasses), nor drink orders taken. In fact, the server abandoned us. We had to take shifts to find someone to take our order. We ordered some fries for the table which never arrived, and the hangover pizza wasn't anything to write home about. I suppose this place would be great for masochists. Tavern29's bottomless brunch for $25 with a purchase of an entree is such a great deal. We ate on the rooftop, and i use that term loosely because although its a rooftop, it doesnt have any views. in fact its smashed in between 2 buildings. however, its set up nicely. its shaded very well which helps out in the hot summers. theres a bar up there, TV, art on the walls (hello IG photos!), and some fans. if you need the bathroom, its 1 level below. Anna was such a great server & bar tender. she was quick, helpful, and always made sure our bellini were filled. she was my favorite part about our brunch for my friends birthday. she was so friendly too! we had the bellini, but it was more like a mimosa. however, they hit the spot and we got TRASHED. in regards to food, we were both pleasantly surprised. we grabbed the truffle fries to share, which were AMAZING. double fried, cute basket, very sharable, some truffle oil and parm. for my entree i got the eggs benedict and home fries. homefries had such a good flavor, i just wish they were crispy. the english muffin was toasted perfectly. the eggs were super runny. add more hollandaise sauce! however, i loved it and ate it right up. alotta spinach too. i tried my friends breakfast pizza and this was so cool. the bechamel sauce on it was killer. id come back just for that. read more
