We were waiting for the Belly Up to open the doors for the show. Since we had about 20 minutes we stopped next door for drinks and appetizers. Aside from there being plenty of tables available and no waiting customers, we were told we couldn't eat there!! This was extremely rude !! I guess they were just waiting for a bigger party to come in and spend more! Just rude rude rude. Will never eat there again! read more

The Wild Note is really a bummer. They're really resting on the fact that if you eat there, you can get into the Belly Up early. On more than one occasion, we've gone there 45-60 minutes ahead of time to have some food and get in a bit early to get a seat and been disappointed. This most recent time we went was for Thievery Corporation. Half the place was empty about 45 minutes before the show. The guy who we talked to about the table said he had a bunch of reservations and couldn't guarantee we would get a table. After about 15 minutes, he said we could get a table. The place was, at most, half full the entire time we were eating. The food was bad. I mean, nothing really rewarding. My wife ordered the seared ahi sliders. The bun was soggy to the point it was sticking to the plate. The ahi was ok. I ordered the "rad" Thai. There was nothing rad about this dish. You could find 50 better recipes just doing a google for "pad thai recipe" on the internet. The ranch dressing we got to dip the fries was so thin it wouldn't even stay on the fry. It's like they said, "let's staff this restaurant with a group of individuals that don't give a shit!" If you want to get into the Belly Up early, come here, order the bare minimum and get out as quick as possible. There's no other reason to come here otherwise. read more

Their complimentary warm herbed bread with soft butter was a nice appetizer. My Brie Burger (with mushrooms and port wine sauce) was very tasty. This is a nice place to eat and drink at before a show at The BellyUp next door. The service was great, my Long Island iced tea was strong, and my lobster dumplings were tasty. Came here randomly on a beautiful Sunday. Friend wanted to stroll the streets of Cedros in Solana Beach w/o my properly planning a schedule of events - so if anyone else has an issue w/ control or OCD, then you understand my anxiety. I haven't been to Cedros in AGES. Last time i came here was for Belly Up. Anyhow, friend found Wild Note Cafe and said there was a parking lot right next door w/ FREE 4 hour parking. SCORE... (especially when it's seriously a beautiful Sunday and street parking was scarce) The cafe is attached to Belly Up. Really cute outdoor patio seating (in front, so ppl / dog watching is plentiful). We got seated right away and I was immediately put at ease. The ambiance of the place was laid back and casual. And as I glanced around, I actually thought ' wow, what's taken me so long to come back to Solana Beach'. We ordered: 1. Breakfast burrito w/ sausage and eggs, side of potatoes $9 (?) - Kinda small but the burrito tasted hot and fresh (see pic) 2. Pan seared sea bass w/ spinach and tomato white wine basil sauce ($14.50) - our waitress said it was Chilean seabass (my FAVE fish ever!) so I was excited to try this dish. Unfortunately, the seabass was a bit dry. It didn't taste as flaky and buttery as I usually have experienced w/ chilean seabass. The spinach left a strange 'after taste' in my mouth after a few mouth fulls. Sauce was a bit too light and runny. But, the cherry tomatoes were fresh and burst in your mouth w/ each bite (see pic) Service was great. Lisa was beyond cool. She divided our bill w/ no issues and I giggled in awe when she asked my friend 'do you want no ice, little ice, or half way ice in your orange juice'. Who does that?! Just thought it was a nice touch. I can see myself coming here in near future w/ more friends. I saw someone's burger coming out and it looked delicious. That's what I'm getting next time. It's just a cool little place to eat and spend time w/ friends, and then wander the street of Cedros...not too shabby a way to spend the weekend in San Diego yah? read more

We were in town for the weekend and originally picked the Wild Note because it was super convenient to the Belly Up. Wow, It turned out to be a great decision! The food was fabulous and the service was too. We had several friends with us, and everyone agreed it was a great find and they all enjoyed their meals. I wish we had been clever enough to make reservations for the next night. By the time we decided to dine there again, it was too late. We got here at 430 to eat and were the first customers of the day for a meal. We made a reservation and this was the first time we would eat here and will be the last. Whitney S. was our server and was rude and lied. We spent a decent amount of money plus tip on beer and food. We only ate here to get early side entrance to the show this evening. She told us we could come back at 630 pm. When we returned at 615 she yelled at my friend and told him not to come back until 630. We returned at 630 and the line was already 40 people deep making the whole early entry thing pretty pointless. Seeing as there was 40 people in line at that time it leads me to believe she lied and the time was not 630 after all. When I mentioned what happened to the security guard he shrugged his shoulders and didn't care. This is not how paying customers should be treated and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We will not be returning to this restaurant. The food was mediocre and overpriced to begin with and it is not somewhere I would go out of my way to come to. Whitney needs some training in customer service and needs to not lie to paying customers. read more

You can get a quick lunch or they can serve you some tasty food during a concert at belly up (they are connected ). It's worth a try for sure. My family and I went to Wildnote before a show at The Belly Up! I have been dying to try this place out and was over the moon to finally be able to get reservation! We all split the lobster dumplings and by the recommendation of our super friendly waitress she gave us rosemary bread. The bread was a nice addition to dipping in the extra sauce from the dumplings. I had the salmon poke bowl, super fresh, tasty and filling. My mom had the ahi poke salad which she really enjoyed and said it was fresh. My boyfriend had the cajon shrimp tacos and he liked them very much. My sister had the lobster and shrimp enchiladas. She said they were good, just a little dry, wouldn't get them again. Last night, my friend and I headed to Belly Up for our first time to watch a comedy show. Unfamiliar with the venue, we arrived early opting to enjoy a pre-show bite and drink. We stumbled upon Tavern - it's to the right of the entrance of Belly Up and has a walkway leading from the restaurant into the venue. The restaurant is relatively small, has almost a sports bar/dive feel, and the walls are covered with bright posters of artists that have performed at Belly Up throughout the years. We sat at the bar and our bartender/waitress, Miranda, was very friendly, lively, and attentive to not only us but everyone seated around us. She was clearly hustling. No complaints on our drinks - we had a Sauvignon blanc, Pacifico, and Crown. We shared the guacamole and while the guacamole was yummy and satisfying, the chips were very stale. Thankfully, the barbecue chicken pizza hit the spot. The slices were easier eaten with a fork/knife () but I didn't mind as the pizza was extra saucy and cheesy. The chicken was chopped in small squares and the pizza was topped with arugula. After dinner, we entered the venue from the side/hallway from the restaurant, which was nice - I assume maybe there was a longer line coming from the main entrance. Just remember to have your receipt from the restaurant readily available, as they won't let you enter from the restaurant side without it. read more

So my husband wanted to come to the Wild Note for a quick dinner because it's connected to the Belly Up where we will be seeing Blue Oyster Cult tonight. It's been a while since we've been here. When we showed up I was asked if we had a reservations. Uh oh. We did not. To my surprise I was immediately escorted to a table. We ordered a bottle of wine and edamame. Yummy. A great hidden gem in Solana Beach; the food is delicious, service is great, and location is awesome too! Plus if you feel up to it, the Belly Up bar/tavern next door is a BLAST; if you can score tickets, definitely makes for a great night out. We got the calamari, very solid, fresh, crispy, and the aioli was delectable. The wine list is almost exclusively west coast, which was nice too. I got the pad Thai, a LARGE and scrumptious portion, and hubby got the short rib dish and we even shared the truffle fries. It was not the single best pad Thai I ever ate, but it was very good. Everything was fresh, hot, and served expertly. Our waitress was very kind and friendly, checked in often but not annoyingly so. Since this is basically the spot to eat at before and after a concert at the Belly Up next door, it only made sense that the place was decorated with guitars and posters of musicians. The waitress was sweet and attentive and we enjoyed the food even better: Lobster Ravioli Appetizer- lobster stuffed ravioli topped with a sweet port wine sauce and chives. Loved the mildly sweet and savory mix. Brie Burger- Juicy beef angus burger stuffed with melted brie and topped with sauteed mushrooms and a creamy port wine sauce. It came with a blue cheese and walnut mixed green salad. Crave this ALL the time! Jalapeno Turkey Sliders- the sliders themselves were okay. It was a little on the dry side but the jalapeno mixed with the patty and then topped with avocado made up for the dryness. Came with a side of parmesean fries that were to die for! Our server took our drink orders and then came back with bread and butter and took our food orders. The food was brought out in a timely manner and tasted okay too. I ordered the Certified Sterling Beef burger and fries cooked medium well; it came back pretty well done and the meat lacked seasoning, but ketchup made things all right. The fries were thin and crispy. The meal overall was greasy and satisfying and filled me right up so I could spend the next few hours next door enjoying the show. I've been to the Belly Up many times, but this was my first time going to eat at the Wild Note. We went for Restaurant Week (yeah, I'm behind on the reviews) and really enjoyed the meal. It's a cute little place with patio seating that's pretty enclosed during the winter (thankfully). Got the Prixe Fix menu which was a good value at $30.00 for three dishes. Appetizer: I got the Guajillo-Beer Braised Short Rib Ravioli. Awesome dish. The short ribs were sweet and the roasted corn cream sauce added a smoothness and flavor that worked great together. Magic. Main course: Miso Braised Swordfish with crispy rice cake, steamed bok choy & wasabi-cantaloupe sauce. The swordfish was amazing and the braise added a nice sweetness as well. The rice cake was really crispy and delicious. Not a huge fan of the bok choy, but the sauce went really well on the rice cake. Dessert: Jack Daniel's Pecan Pie served warm with vanilla bean gelato & chocolate sauce. I really didn't think anyone could make a Pecan Pie more decadent, but they did. When a gelato is needed to cut the richness, you know you have a dessert lover's dream. I will definitely come back for more. If you need a nice place to eat next time you hit up the Belly Up for a concert, this is the place. read more

Excellent food, love the poster wallpaper of bands that have played at Belly Up. Salad was crunchy and fresh, egg rolls okay, everybody loved their entrees. Really nice staff. Eating at the Wild Note used to allow you into the concert venue before the crowd outside, NO MORE. Diners beware! That being said, we were pretty happy with our experience. Our cocktails were good, my Caesar salad was perfectly enjoyable but the real win was the warm Rosemary bread they serve. We went here for lunch on a Sunday morning, I love Solana beach it's so chill here! we sat outside in the patio and I ordered the Seared Ahi Sliders... it was yummy in my tummy. OK yeah it was 12 bucks for 2 sliders but these weren't sliders from (Lei Lounge) these were seriously at least 1 inch thick pieces of Ahi! That's what I'm talking about... oh and the fries were also really good, I was full but didn't feel all gross like my veins were clogged. Stopped in here for an impromptu dinner with some friends and our four footed babies in tow. I was very happy to see that first and foremost they are VERY dog friendly. They have even invested in their very own dog bowls for their doggie customers. We looked over our menus and had a few questions, which were answered very honestly by our server. I appreciated that even more than her easy smile and personal demeanor. When an employee is that forthcoming with a straight answer towards their menu I can count on an exceptional experience. She recommended the Shrimp and Lobster Enchiladas and I LOVED every bite. I only had room for one of the enchiladas because they were FULL of shrimp and lobster, but I boxed up the rest and it made a lovely breakfast the following morning. My friends are tiny women who ventured away from their healthy diets and ordered the Tequila Chicken Spring Rolls. I was lucky and traded part of my enchilada for half of the spring roll. OMG soooo delicious. I would definitely order these again (and AGAIN). They will grill up some nice hamburger for your doggy companion. Our three dogs shared some hamburger and they smacked their lips with satisfaction. This is a wonderful little place to stop in after a day of shopping or to have a nice dinner before you go to a Belly Up show. The food is wonderful, the staff is super friendly and the patio is a nice place for your pooch to have a bite to eat and some cool water to chill out with. Stopped in before we set out to do some shopping. Everything thing we had was great. I enjoyed their lobster & shrimp chowder with bacon. I shared my turkey sandwich with my friend (turkey, lettuce, tomato, and cranberries with a side of fries and a pickle) and she had the soup of the day; tomato soup.
