Nothing special about this place. Went here just before a show at the Belly Up. For a while we were the only table (6 of us). Waitress was helpful with wine selection. Smallish menu so I was counting on great quality and taste. Calamari is made in house and was tender. One person ordered Ahi sliders but after a return to the kitchen still wasn't edible. First one dry and NOT seared, second one slimy. Beef skewers were tough. Turkey sliders were ok but nothing special. The Thai stirfry was good. Nice warm herbed bread served but with herb butter that was just too much. In a pinch it's ok. Would not purposefully return. read more

REALLY delicious and high quality food! Had a lunch here recently, and ordered the sweet potato fries to start and they were the best I have ever had. They were served with their house made ranch, which was remarkable as well. I ordered the dijon herb crusted salmon, and it was so good. My friend got the Cedros Tacos, and was very happy with her meal, as well. We didn't have room for desert, but I will be back - it was wonderful! Really cool atmosphere, we ate outside right on the street, and it was fun to people watch as we enjoyed our great food. Customers did have dogs on the patio as well, so Fido is welcome here, too. Great location and yummy food! We shared the lobster dumplings apps which were very good with a sweet plum sauce. The BF had the huge hamburger with brie and I had had the ahi sliders. This place is okay. We stopped here only because we read online that the patio is dog friendly, but it did not mention how tiny to space is. I have a mastiff and a border collie mix, so we were pretty disappointed at the limited floor space for our pups. The staff was super cool though, they brought out a water bowl - which my dogs then spilled everywhere, but no one seemed to be bugged by it and the server cleaned it up and was cool about it. The food portions are really small in the salad department, but the people who ordered sandwiches at the other table looked like they got what they paid for. So, all in all, it wasnt terrible, but its not on our list of places we need to go back to. read more

Being right next to Belly Up, this place seemed like it would be a default place to go due to convenience. But one night my husband and I finally decide to drop in for an early dinner and were surprised at how good the food and drinks were! Their corn chowder was super delicious and their specials were really good. We've gone back and couple times now and the food continues to be great! Love the wild note café. Except - they advertise that you get first entrance when you dine with them. HOWEVER, if you go grab a glass of wine 15 minutes before the doors open, are entitled, belligerent, and drunk, you TOO shall be allowed to enter way before the ones who actually can type and use the internet to reserve a dinner spot. huzzah. read more

Met a friend here the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It was relatively quiet, and you could kind of here the bands playing in Belly Up, which is cool. Wine was pretty tasty, my friend ordered the one Argentinian bottle on the menu, most of it is Californian. He was focused on ordering the Brie Burger, so the wine kinda limited my choices...but I left my "foodie" in the bottle and ordered the ancho chile salmon salad. YUM! Not too spicy, great mix with the fruits. My friend had shown up early and ate an order of chips and guac at the bar before I got there, so his appetite was not big enough to finish his brie burger and truffle fries, but he said it was delicious. I did snag some fries, and they were heavily truffled, the way I like them! Very nice setting, wonder what it would be like on a date night, if it would be a long wait. Came here with my out of town Mom after shopping at Leaping Lotus and a few vintage shops. What a surprise! We had the Turkey sandwich that was a way better version of Thanksgiving on a sandwich! Amazing cranberry spread and avocado to compliment the turkey. We also split a salad and the sandwich, not knowing how large everything is. We would probably ask to have a side salad in lieu of fries. After eating the fries, I felt an intense stomach ache while shopping. However, would totally go back as I love that shopping area. I only wish I could give 50 stars. We went to the Wild note, as many people do, before a concert. I was not expecting much but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. The food was top of the line. The calamari was lightly breaded and seasoned to perfection. The salad was so good that we almost ate the plate. (haha) Then I had the ahi sliders which were excellent. The tuna was cooked so that it melted in my mouth. (usually it is over cooked at restaurants) And then we ended with a Key Lime pie that was out of this world. The food was so good that my boyfriend and I would take a trip back to Solana Beach just for this place. I highly recommend it. read more

This placed just seemed confused to me. It says it's Mexican but that's not how I would identify it. There are Mexican dishes but it's not the focus. It was a little strange that it shares space with Belly Up next door. People kept walking in and out from there. Interesting menu, I picked the tortilla soup that was the soup of the day. It was really fabulous. Veronica was our waitress and she was fabulous. She got our food and the drink orders in and the food out to make sure we were able to get into the line for a good seat before everyone else, for this sold out show. Food was delicious, service was good and the atmosphere is fun. I went for lunch with 3 of my girlfriends so we didn't have to be subjected to the loud music of the Belly Up next door. We shared the sweet potato fries which were heavenly. My friend had the Brie burger and even though I'm a vegetarian, it looked amazing! She said it was fantastic. We came here recently for dinner before a concert at Belly Up next door. Definitely make a reservation because it was packed before the show. However, once the doors at Belly Up opened at 7pm, the place emptied out pretty quickly. My husband got the sliders which he said were fabulous. The truffle fries were amazing. I loved the salmon entree with the cous cous. Portions were very a good size. There's a back entrance into Belly Up which is nice for skipping the line. We will definitely be back even if we're not going to a show. read more

We stopped in while shopping in the area, so we weren't seeing a show or anything. The turkey sliders, although good, are not worth ordering if you're hungry. You pay $10.50 for two small sliders and a pile of fries. My husband order the pollo asada sandwich which cost the same amount with much more food. It was pretty good. The service wasn't that great, but maybe it was just the time of day we came. I don't think we would ever come back unless maybe we were seeing a show next door or something. read more

A spin off from the Belly Up, this place is a great spot to dine before a show, sometimes even skip the line if you do. Full Bar, Espresso, and a good wine selection to choose from. Had the Mahi Mahi special the other night and loved it. Licked the plate clean. The sliders are good and the Veggie burger is awesome, even has hummus on it. Go in for a quick lunch or stop by before a show. Service has always been prompt and kitchen times were great too. Also open for brunch on Sunday, but doesn't start until 11am I think. I love this place! The 2 times wev'e eaten here have been awesome! We did order the same thing both times tho! I got the macadamian encrusted stuffed chicken breast, garlic mash potatos, and veggies we also got the blue chesse stuffed burger w bacon and it was as good as i remembers! Go see a show at the Belly Up after its a great venue with great accustics cause of the wood walls and floors. I paid 12 bucks for the brie burger which was over cooked and only had a tiny amount of brie. It was served very dry too. We went to dinner because we were going to a show. We'd been there once before for the same reason. For an appetizer, the waitress recommended the lobster dumplings, their signature app. They were delicious but tiny & came 5 on a plate which makes no sense if you are sharing with your date. I think we would have been better off ordering the calamari as we had originally intended. The service was fine. The warm rosemary bread & soft butter were yummy. My husband had the beet salad which he enjoyed. I had the ahi nicoise & it was fresh with lots of greens. The ahi was cooked to perfection & very rare. The main reason that we came here for dinner was to get into the show before the outside people but that didn't happen this time. This is a pleasant surprise down on Cedros, right next to Belly Up. The restaurant is fairly unassuming and seems like it would be a default place to go if you're out with an elderly member of your family. My wife and I finally decide to drop in for an early dinner and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food and drinks were! Every soup there has been delicious (we were fans of the corn chowder in particular). I'm also a big fan of their appetizer offerings. We've come back a couple more times since our first visit and i think we're continue coming back. Each time we're continuously surprised about the quality of food. This is a definite recommendation if anyone is on Cedros looking for food. It's obviously a good place to grab a pre-show drink since it has it's own entrance to Belly Up. read more

Lobster dumplings amazing! Wow the sauce paired with the dumplings mouth watering I want more. Bartender is very pretty and friendly however not around, I'm not sure where she is going. I think they get the hard alcohol drinks from the other bar. Chill atmosphere :) I enjoyed very much! read more

So disappointed. Just went in to grab a drink before the concert next door and was kicked out by the rudest waitress. We asked if we could get a drink at the bar which she said there's not enough seats there and she stated this was not that type of bar. So it's not a bar where we can grab food and drinks at 8 pm before a concert?! When I said that's not very nice she stated "well it's written on the wall and you obviously don't fucking understand." How appalling are your servers. What a disgusting way to treat new members of your town as we just moved here. When I went on open table there were plenty of tables available so I'm unsure why she was so disgusting to us?! Please explain your service standards because I'm completely confused ? Wild Note Cafe, located right next to Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach is is great casual place to dine. Yes, many patrons are there because they have tickets to a show at the Belly Up, but in our case, we just happened to be in the area and wanted to find someplace to have a nice meal. We found it. They sat us outside in their quaint sidewalk view patio table. The home made meatball soup was a WOW and so were the build your own mahi mahi fish tacos. Generous portions, enough to share. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER. *Let it be known that this is the first yelp i have EVER left of less than 3 stars. I made a reservation in NOVEMBER for the end of MARCH (YES, 4 MONTHS AHEAD OF TIME), and I was notified 48 hours before my reservation that the restaurant needed to be empty by 7:00 for a "recent private party buyout". OK fine, my party can be out by seven. THEN i get a phone call 24 hours before my reservation, saying "the manager requires that the restaurant be empty by 6:00 PM. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? i have family in town and made this reservation literally 4 FREAKING MONTHS AGO so that I wouldnt have to worry about dinner plans. The staff on the phone was completely rude and unaccommodating, and couldnt care less about THEIR MESSUP. No offer of any consolation except "sorry, someone who has more money than you bought out the entire restaurant, so get lost". Being a local to the SB area, i will CERTAINLY DEFER anyone i know from going there ever again. this is not the first time that this place has COMPLETELY disappointed. absolutely ridiculous. read more
