Went today for a lunch meeting. I've been a few times. The glassware on our table had residue wait staff was OK, but one of them rolled their eyes at the acquaintance I was dining with. I informed them about the residue and they tried to tell me that that's the glass, but there were granules in the glasses. Outside of that the staff was attentive as there were only a few of us in the restaurant. It's fairly quiet during lunch. The gumbo was really really good. The Caesar salad was good and the pork belly fried rice was really really good and I had a nice Cabernet as well.

Was dreaming about this brunch the night before, that when the morning came, Tavern on Rush was my first stop. Despite it being very crowded, it was easy to get a table outside upon walking up. It was a windy day in Chicago, but the workers were hospitable and attentive. Highly recommend going with friends and splitting both a savory and sweet item, because both the omelette and pancakes were the perfect mix. The portions are extremely generous and the prices are extremely fair. This was by far one of the best brunches I've had in a long time. There is nothing better than starting your day with a delectable and delicious meal. I've heard the restaurant is perfect for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so I can't wait to try the lunch and dinner menus. Tavern on Rush has easily became one of my new favorite places and I can't wait to dine here again.

Love, love, love the new Tavern on Rush!! I had such a wonderful brunch here today. My waitress Jessica was great! We had the tavern breakfast and the salted caramel pancakes. Everything was absolutely delicious. Amazing experience! I tried the Pineapple Express cocktail, and it was great. Very refreshing! Can't wait to come back here very soon!!!

Tavern on Rush is an upscale restaurant with a great vibe. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff I s very professional. I recommend sitting in the bar area, having some drinks and appetizers.

New location now located connected to Thompson hotel my place is back open! I absolutely love tavern on rush. Perfect little spot to sit outside and enjoy good food. It's a vibe, good music exceptional service and ambience will have you staying longer than you anticipated. For starers me and my girl did the calamari, and the Cesar salad . I was so happy they also had the option grilled delish and highly recommend. For entree we both did filet mignon I ended up doing the petite one. Sides we chose mash potatoes and asparagus. Dinner was lovely . Cocktails I chose the expresso martini which your girl didn't finish due to the 1942 shots . Overall the drinks were made with love . Great choices for wine options too! Enjoyed my experience and look forward to being back soon!

I went here for brunch with my family on a very cold January day. This restaurant recently reopened under new management and it was jammed inside. The chicken sandwich itself was decent and satisfactory. Really just a normal chicken sandwich, but I did enjoy the fig jam and Brie. However, the real issue with this place is the service. We were celebrating a birthday and not only did they forget the birthday dessert but it took over 30 minutes to get the check once we had asked. Our server changed halfway through lunch and this created a lot of confusion throughout the meal. My parents had gone here a few weeks prior and had a much better experience so I don't know if it was just an off day or what? I think it's an easy place to meet up with friends and I would try it again, but probably not anytime soon.

We were excited to see Tavern On Rush was part of Chicago Restaurant Week 2025. Since it opened in late 2024, we have been wanted to stop by. The inside is beautiful and we decided to sit in the atrium. I was impressed that the staff memorized our name from the reservation and continued to call us by our name throughout the meal. From the event menu we chose the soup of the day and the Whipped Ricotta. The soup was similar to a minestrone, a little heavy on the salt. The Whipped Ricotta on the other hand was the star of the show, creamy, sweet, a little salty, and had a well dressed salad. For the main we tried the Korean Chicken Sandwich and the Tavern Prime Burger. I was a big fan of the burger, cooked to perfection, and both came with a generous portion of well seasoned fries. Unfortunately the Korean Chicken Sandwich was a little overcooked and it has more of a teriyaki flavor than Korean. The gelato was nice at the end. The Chocolate was deep and rich and Pistachio was very pistachios forward (as it should be). Overall enjoyable experience and would highly recommend the Whipped Ricotta.

Well look who decided to return to the fold in a different space, but same area lol! Came through for lunch this past Saturday and it was a good choice. Had an amazing server by the name of Leah and we loved her. Started with a mezcal cocktail by the name of Only Fan...pretty decent! Then I followed that up with a Handsome Rob which is basically a Manhattan...very good. My final drink was an espresso martini with mezcal instead of vodka and it was definitely on point. For food, it was a difficult choice as there were so many good lunch and brunch options. I decided on the Steak Sandwich (medium rare) which was a good choice. Was a chopped filet with onions, tomatoes, peppers, garlic aioli, chimichurri sauce and chihuahua cheese on a toasted ciabatta bun...a lovely sandwich. Came with delicious fries. Glad the joint is back and better than ever!

A good 3.5. The restaurant is upscale and modern. There is seating both indoor and outdoor but often outdoor has the longer wait. The food was good and sometimes great. The branzino was cooked well and accompanied by tomatoes. The creamed spinach was good but slightly too creamy. The pork belly braised friend rice was a hit. The dessert portions were large. Tried the red velvet cake and it was massive but too chocolatey in my opinion. Service was friendly but didn't check back often so we often had to flag our waitress down.

Good spot for a late meal.. TV available to watch sports game.. Full bar and nice menu... Heated patio as well for outdoor dining.. Really good service and friendly. I ordered the bolognese and it was really good, big portion, just wish it had a little spice to it but i ordered side of red chili peppers and it helped. Definitely recommend place!

Came here recently with friends on a very busy Friday night. A few days prior the earliest reservation was 8:45pm, so be sure to plan ahead if you want a more prime time slot. Even in the bar area ahead of our dinner reservation, it was PACKED. The service staff did their best to navigate through the crowds. My friends enjoyed martinis is big elegant glasses (forgot a photo - different than the espresso martini one). Once seated, our waiter (a very tall man!) was great. We were greeted with a small sparkling wine pour and the option for still or sparkling water. We had some great Pinot noir from CA and I really enjoyed the pork fried rice. Wow, just send me some of that on a cold day. My pasta dish was comfort food at its best. I had leftovers! Went well with the wine, too. It was a little easier to talk and walk around upstairs, so I definitely appreciated that. The ambience is luxe and comfortable. If you ask nicely, you can get the off menu famous burger for dinner.

The food at Tavern on Rush is exceptional! We went for brunch. I had the Asian Chicken Salad and it was awesome. My friend had the Seared Salmon BLTA and really enjoyed it as well. I sampled one of his fries and they are as good as they look in the attached photo. We had friendly and efficient service. We enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely go back.

It is definitely unique, creative, and a massive differentiator from any other cocktail bar I've been to. Now, let's talk cocktails! The creativity of the interior extends into the menu. Unlike some places that just make variations of existing classics (except for items specifically so named, like the Old Fashioned or Espresso Martini), all of their cocktails are unique and interesting. Time for a punch card? I ordered the Maximillian the Imposter. While I'm not typically a fan of banana (except for banana bread), I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone, and I wanted to try something 'flaming'. Flaming it was! The preparation of the drink involved a surprising amount of fire. I initially thought this was just for show, but no, this translated into a noticeable smoky flavor. Beyond that, the drink was strong, not overly sweet, and an all-around delight. There was one bartender on the night I was here, and while it was busy, I was still able to get my drink in a reasonable amount of time. I also feel as though they have reasonable prices, especially considering the quality and the market rates. King of Cups gets busy, and for good reason: they are an all-around phenomenal place, from the drinks to the vibe, and everything in between. A guitarist sits somewhere against a brick wall and plays music lightly but energetically. Service is friendly from start to finish and smiles are on everyone's faces. The menu is pretty easy to understand. You can get a three-course meal, or you can get each entree à la carte. You have two fondue candles in front of you, one for the cheese and dessert, and the other for the oil. We chose the three-course meal, and it was delightful. We started with the cheese appetizer. You get a basket of bread and fruit and we chose the seasonal cheese to dip. The oil for our meat was then left to heat, and we received a massive platter of veggies and meats for our main course. We chose the option for all selections of meat and seafood. After trying all the meats, I would opt for the lobster and shrimp. You can also substitute the oil for a broth. I would like to try the broth for next time. In one of the shakers, Gejas makes their own meat spice mix. It's recommended to put on the meats and even the desserts. It's a mix of tangy and savory and was a great compliment to the meal. We then chose the seasonal dessert, a white chocolate with vanilla cookies. Fruit, marshmallows, and churros to dip. We were so full by the time dessert came, but we enjoyed a few bites and took it home. The three-course meal, with five types of meat, came with about 10 pieces of meat. It doesn't look like a lot of food, but it truly is, with the apps, veggies, etc, your stomach will be full when you walk out of here. They also start the entire course with a mixed salad (so technically it's a four-course meal). It was very fairly priced, as well. Initially looking at the prices, you may think it's expensive, but it truly is a value with the amount of food they serve. This was rated as most romatic restaurant in Chicago. Its ambiance gives you the romantic feel, the guitarist adds to the atmosphere, and the staff is professional and friendly. This really was a great place and we enjoyed our time and meal.

Not many Michelin starred restaurants can pull that off on a Monday, but Esmé always seems to have energy. This place has become one of our most reliable favorites. They change the menu a few times a year in conjunction with rotating local artists, and the restaurant itself feels more like a refined art gallery than a traditional dining room with white walls, clean lines, simple and elegant. Last night was no exception to their usual excellence. The experience is really anchored by Chris Gerber, a longtime Chicago hospitality pro, and his team. They are flawless. This is true hospitality in every sense of the word. They usually keep two signature dishes, and for good reason. The caviar supplement sounds odd on paper, but in your mouth it is absolute perfection. The cod sounds simple, but it is anything but, rich, decadent, and always one of the highlights. Everything new on this menu was also outstanding. Every course had beautifully balanced sauces that made sense with the dish, and the presentations were creative without being gimmicky or over the top. The plating always ties in with the featured artist in a way that feels thoughtful, not forced. One tip. Be careful when choosing your beverage pairing. We did not read closely enough and ended up with the more inventive pairing that included cocktails and a beer. It was fun, but afterward we wished we had gone with the higher end wine pairing instead. Bottom line. Esmé remains one of the most consistent Michelin starred experiences in Chicago. To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. The beef was the most disappointing part, I couldn't even chew through all of it. The add-ons were the best part - pasta was great and our dessert was delicious. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning. I would dine here again and try a different menu (brunch/lunch), or Happy Hour if they offer it.
