The tattoo artist was rude beyond rude. I wouldn't recommend for my enemy. Common courtesy and customer service should be a modicum of expectation for someone operating in a service industry. Walked in and was told "Brian/Ryan" would be available, My brother and I wanted a simple rose flash tattoo. Once we finally got his attention he acted nothing but annoyed of our presence. He was clearly upset I had my 1 yr old son with me WHO WAS ASLEEP IN HIS STROLLER AND BEING WATCHED BT MY SISTER, still claimed he would be a distraction. Then proceeded to tell us well he would prefer an appt to have time to draw the art and blah blah blah. I could find a simple rose outline and add one color that would take maybe an hour, I'm not new to tattoos and was ASKING FOR A FLASH ON PURPOSE. 3:45pm and he tells us he's trying to leave by 5 or 6... dude I work as an independent artist too, if you don't wanna make some money then just go home now. I've been here twice and both my tattoos came out pretty good. The second time I went in to get a colored tattoo filled in with black and added some minor details. They charged me 250 for this, and I didn't have many tattoos before so I didn't realize how much I was over paying. I got a tattoo at golden rule yesterday, it is huge and detailed and it cost me 280 dollars. Was way more worth the money. I like the employees at tattooed planet, they're nice and if you really get to know them. They do have a rough exterior and might be a little harsh sometimes but they mean well. read more

I debated about writing this review for a really long time. Misty is an awful tattoo artist, as stated by someone else on this. She's really sweet, super nice, and also very professional: but she is also the worst tattoo artist I have ever had work done by. I had liked her so much as an individual that this is why I couldn't write this review earlier, but I think she's such an awful tattoo artist that I feel like I need to warn off other people from her. What drew me to her was her portfolio: gorgeous line work. What I didn't pay attention to was that the images I was looking at were all from fresh tattoos, not healed ones. I had her do a line of ants marching around my wrist, and I brought the artwork in that I wanted done. The lines on my fresh tattoos from her looked wonderful, and I was beyond pleased. As soon as they started healing, I saw that there were "stray lines" going off in all different directions, lines that were never part of the tattoo and that will never go away. She couldn't follow the stencil she put on my wrist at all, and instead of breaking to see if she was doing it correctly, she continued on. You can't even tell that the tattoo was meant to be ants (I get spiders constantly), and I don't think there is anything that can ever be done to fix this. The tattoo also bulged, hurt, and was tender for an obscene amount of time, something that I've never experienced with any other tattoos. There were two or three separate areas that were still extremely tender almost three weeks after getting the tattoo - I gently cut into these and squeezed black ink out of them. The pain/tenderness I had been feeling immediately went away within minutes. It was absolutely disgusting, extremely concerning, and I've never heard of anyone else ever having that problem. I don't recommend Tattooed Planet for any work. Beyond the awful work I had done, the prices were also far, far above what they should have been. Don't go here, don't go here, don't go here. It doesn't matter that the artists are nice - what should count is the quality of their work. read more

Tattooed Planet is the only parlor I will go to get work done. The staff are really nice people and amazing artists. I've personally gone here for: a lebret, ear gauging, and tattoo touch-up with color adding. They took a tattoo I had done at the age of 18, that I grew to be dissatisfied with, and turned it into something I'm proud to show off. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to technique and even more when it comes to all maintenance that goes with a tattoo or piercing (preparation, tools, autoclave, cleanliness, and healing). The prices here are also amazing, and they do work that is well worth a generous tip. The best part is that you can tell the employees and artists really enjoy their work and enjoy the shop. I've met many really cool people (other patrons and employees alike) while hanging out in the main area. The atmosphere is great and they even have TV's and other entertainment in each room while you're waiting. All in all these guys make the whole process an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend looking here first, because you won't need to search any further. read more

So myself and 3 other friends went to get tattoos in honor of someone close who passed away and got there and this wannabe biker dude is turning customers away meanwhile he said they might be busy but turns out this place was as dead as Curt Cobain. Was intending on leaving 1k+ as a tip between myself and 3 other friends for SMALL tattoos. All I can say is Mr.Wannabe bikerboy must be allergic to money because 30 mins must not have been worth his time. This past Monday (5/20) I got my first tattoo done by Rose. I was nervous and scared of getting a tattoo. My friend described what we wanted (three friends got the same design) and did exactly what we had in mind. She was very patient by readjusting the template. ZERO costumer service skills. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!! I went to this shop on a random night about two months ago to get the word sanity done on my hip. Immediately walking in, I felt super uncomfortable, awkward, and judged. Even the tattoo artist were taking shots in the shop.The front desk staff, a girl named Sophia, was so rude. She got major attitude, judged the tattoo that I was about to get done, and was overall really unwelcoming. I had already told the artist that I was getting the work done so decided just to stay, wanting to keep my word. Turns out the artist Jack, completely f***ed my tattoo by misspelling the tattoo, adding 'Ls instead of straight lines, changing my 'a' to an 'e', and then one of my letters completely disappeared. The ink was super uneven and healed awfully. I did not receive after care directions (thank god I had previous and non-visible tattoos). The artist also refused to let me look at it after he had done it. He immediately bandaged it up and would not take it off so imagine my surprise when i got home. I contacted the shop and got the "managers" name, Joey Luck. He issued a full refund after I had asked for one and then asked that I come in to show him and so that I could get all the information I needed on my artist. Today I went in to show him my tattoo since I was in the area already. We walked in to the rudest, most disgusting person that I have ever come into contact with- our beloved front desk girl, Sophia. My cousin and I walked in kindly with the goal to simply have Joey look at my hip. Sophia very rudely let us know that Joey was out of town and would be for a month. I asked if we could speak to another artist about what they think is the best option to correct it. She again aggressively told me that joey was out of town. I tried to explain my situation thinking maybe she forgot since it had been some time and she aggressively responded with "cool". After about 3 minutes of eye-rolls, rude comments, and the nastiest tone ever- I finally asked what her problem was and made the suggestion that she treat her customers nicer. She then responded with "i'm sorry but this isn't apple-bee's" and then proceeded to insult us by stating that we "reeked of STANK from the moment we walked in". I would also like to note that there were 4-5 shop employees lounging, laughing, and watching behind us (and smoking weed during business hours) Not one person said a thing. I honestly have no idea why anyone would hire someone like her let alone allow her to be the face of the business. She was rude, trashy, and incredibly disrespectful. If I could give a worse review, I would. I highly recommend that no one return to this shop. read more

The employees who worked here were very nice but if you are planning to get a serious piercing I STRONGLY discourage. They were fast and clean no problem but I went in to get my nipples pierced and the girl who did it had no idea what she was doing (although she acted very confident, going on and on about her experience). Within 3 days of getting them pierced I had to make an appointment at HTC body piercing ( which by the way is pricey but the absolute best place to go for piercings) because I was concerned how bad they hurt and figured they didn't look right. When I went in to him my piercer said she used the wrong type of jewelry for my nipple ( she used a bell bar when it should be a straight across bar), she didn't measure or look at my nipples before she picked out the bar itself so it was way too small for my nipple ( which is painful ), she pierced one of them crooked, and went too deep into my nipple in one. All in all if I did not go somewhere else to fix her mistakes I would've had some serious infections and would have continued to be in pain much longer than needed. read more

I got a tattoo here a few months ago. It was a relatively simple idea, all line work, and it looked great right after it was done. As someone who has many tattoos, i was able to get through the healing process without a hitch. unfortunately, the tattoo was poorly done by someone who was intoxicated (which i didn't realize until he was finished) and i was charged $100 for a tattoo that is blown out and wonky. I got a ginormous, extremely detailed piece at rad a tat for $200. As someone who also works in the industry, I know we all have our bad days, but to tattoo intoxicated and charge at the price Tattooed Planet did, the tattoo at least has to be decent. I'm sure they've done wonderful work on others, unfortunately I just got the short end of the stick. Cool shop though! read more

I have now gotten two tattoos done here by Rose and have yet to be unimpressed! Every time I go in, the staff is so helpful no matter who I speak to. Rose herself is absolutely the sweetest and most patient artist I could imagine working with and I 100% plan to go to her for any tattoos I want in the future. She was the artist who did my first tattoo and was so patient and kind, and overall just made it such a wonderful experience. I would recommend Rose specifically to ANYone looking to get a tattoo, especially someone looking for their first tattoo. read more

Zero customer service skills. Went in around 9 on a Saturday night and asked about walk-ins (very small line of script--extremely easy tattoo). We were told by the girl at the front desk that she could get us in at 11:30 that night, so we filled out the paperwork and left. We came back right around 11:00-11:10PM and some guy asked if we had an appointment. I explained the situation and immediately got the vibe that he wanted us to leave. He asked about the tattoo I was there to get and as soon as I told him it was really minor, he could not wait to get me out of the shop. He told me he had just gotten off a 10 hour piece and that the artist who was originally going to be doing my tattoo would not be done by 11:30. He told me to come back the next day. When I told him I didn't live in the area, it was basically too bad so sad. They refused to give me my paperwork back also. My friend and I were standing in the parking lot waiting around when, minutes later, the guy left the shop with his friends. Clearly, they were just looking to get their Saturday night started early. Never mind the the shop hours were listed as being open quite a while longer. Honestly, this shop made me feel like I didn't matter at all. They're probably used to dealing with the young college crowd and don't think anything of treating people like garbage. Won't be back, and I regret that I got my first tattoo here a couple years ago. This is a backdated review, but one that needed to happen. When I first came out to Arizona from California I had known I wanted to get a Japanese sleeve done. I did my due diligence and landed at this shop. From the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and like I was part of the family. I told Joey what I wanted and we went back and forth on a design. Long story short, I love what I have. The man is light on his hands and I felt comfortable the whole way. Didn't hurt that a dope movie like Kill Bill was on. After that I took numerous friends to the shop for their firsts, second, third, and other promo events they had. They always remembered me and treated me like family. To this day I tell everyone that asks about my sleeve about this shop. So do yourself a favor and go here. Unless you like getting tattooed by schmo's with heavy hands. read more

2/3 tattoos I got from here have not healed correctly. The lines are still extremely raised after a year and the tattoo looks super distorted. The exact thing has happened to my friend after getting their tattoo here. I've never experienced this with my other tattoos and i'm super bummed that I have to deal with these botched tattoos. read more

This has been the shop I go to for tattoos and piercings for 10 years. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place and the fact that everyone who works here/gets tattooed here is down to earth. Joey is responsible for me being as Tattooed as I am, and he listens to every idea I have and will tell me honestly if my idea sucks; which I appreciate since whatever we decide on will be on my body for the rest of my life. By far the most unprofessional shop ive ever been to. The artist Carlos Rodriguez stole $100 from me after encouraging me to leave a deposit to get started on the sketching for my piece. After about 7 weeks of not responding to any of my messages or calls he had me go in to look at a sketch I could've done in 10 minutes. Hes a liar and a cheapskate for taking my money and tried to take advantage of me. This shop should be ashamed of the wrongdoings going on there and should take notice of the far better experts in the tattoo community here in Tempe. As a precursor for my below review I would like to say it is mostly based on an individual artist that calls himself Joe Luck, however the overall experience was not a pleasant one. My boyfriend's friend was in town and wanted a shitty tattoo so I recommended what I knew to be a less established tattoo shop thus the reason we ended up here. A funny side note, when I was 15 they illegally pierced my belly button. The apprentice who's name I still remember being Zach couldn't finish so another guy had to come finish it. It wasn't good. My mom had to come pick me up quickly ending my rebellion. Anyway... The tattoo. It was a quick outline tattoo about 5 inches long and 3 inches wide with zero shading or detail matching a stick n poke his cousin has. Took about 10 minutes, however, when we first walked in it was about 10:30pm and a guy said they were closing. The hours say until 1 am. So he refused service. That's fine we weren't mad. He gave us another guy who said he would do it but charge us for an hour of work- $120 according to him. What?? Lololol. Anyone with tattoos knows shop minimums and what an outline should cost. 50-60 tops. This particular shop has a minimum of $60 I found out. Then he said he would do it for 80 which is still ridiculous but the friend was only in town for the night and you want what you want. This artist was very aggressive and while I feel for him dealing with our antics it was all over very quickly. When it came time to pay he took my boyfriends card and said are you running the tip on here and my boyfriend said "no, run the card for $80." The tattoo "artist" that goes by Joey Luck said "hey, I'm not delivering you Pizza, tip me $20 bucks!" Wow face. To be clear, this didn't mean we were not going to tip the man. It meant my boyfriend wasn't putting his friends tattoo and the tip on the card. I almost didn't want to stick around to see what was going to happen. My boyfriend held his ground and made the man run his card for 80. They went back and forth. I walked outside because it was uncomfortable. My boyfriend came out and showed me the receipt that did indeed read $80. Who wants to give anyone a tip after that let alone what they're demanding? Looking at the account after the weekend you can see Joey Luck played his cards and gave himself a little extra. There was a $100 charge on the account. I was furious. My boyfriend called but I also insisted on showing up in person. Who does this ass hat think he is? To my dismay he wasn't working. I requested the manager and got what I was told was the closest thing to it. She was very nice and informed me that the artists are independent contractors meaning this guy doesn't necessarily stand for the entire company name BUT my opinion still stands that they are choosing to employ and back a thief, a liar and a man that will try to overcharge you, play games with you, and ultimately manipulate their register and your bank account. Pretty scary. Also he didn't even tell our friend anything about aftercare or put any care on the tattoo or wrap it when he was done. He was very unprofessional even before demanding his preference in tip and stealing money. I informed them I wouldn't personally get tattooed here and have a preferred shop I go to downtown. All the while I'm being interrogated by another artist about whether we signed or used the pad and am being told there is 0 way Mr Luck could have changed the amt after we left but anyone in retail knows you can void transactions, re run transactions, etc and that's what he did folks so beware of Joe Luck. Their fix? Offer $25 off my next tattoo. In the polite female's defense, she recognized how dumb the guy sounded offering me this after I said I would never let someone here tattoo me. I really appreciated your listening skills, blonde vixen. We are waiting to hear back from the manager about them showing a signed $100 receipt and I'll update on how they handle the situation. As a financial crimes investigator I will give you your tip: this isn't a good way to get some money on the side, Joe. Update:we never got a call back. Had my tragus done six weeks ago. Jamel, or whatever his name is (African American), had no problem squeezing me into their busy schedule to make a quick buck. Anyway here I am six weeks later with an infected tragus. I removed the jewelry and went to a local piercer, whom is licensed! (Questioning if Jamel is actually licensed like he claims to be) anyway, this local guy says it's not normal for there to be a Nose Stud in my tragus and basically I got screwed over. So I ended up calling many other shops that said it is not okay to use a nose stud for a tragus piercing. Now I have to let it heal and get it redone in 1 month- by someone who actually knows what they are doing. I called Jamel and he states his wife did not get an infection when he pierced her. This guy is a joke. On top of that I got no after care directions. Also it was pretty funny that my husband talked to him about adding to his sleeve and Jamel was getting him super hyped about it and sharing ideas and said he would make it look badass... well we ended up talking to another worker there - some female , and she said if an tattoo artists says that they could add something to it then they're no good and just trying to make some money because it was a bit more technical than that. Funky and chill, this place has a nice vibe when you walk in - you can tell that all of the folks there are working artists with distinct styles rather than generic tattoos of hearts with "Mom" written across the middle. Went here with my sister while she got her tattoo done of a design that I drew - Misty was incredible and very chill. When I gave her a couple of tweaks so that the design would match the picture (it's such a different medium from pen to tattoo needle that the lines come out differently), she made them perfectly and worked with me to get the design just right. It was the perfect tattoo and it wouldn't have been so without her killer eye and great attitude. Well worth a visit. read more

100% would recommend tattoo artist Sean MacAbre! When I first moved to AZ I had an extremely hard time finding a tattoo artist whose work and customer service truly stood out. Sean is an extremely talented artist whose freehand and line work is exceptional. Working in medical, I am always iffy when working with a new artist or at a new shop. I always get nervous that appropriate sanitation procedures are taken. Not the case with Sean, he performed all sanitation in front of me, ensuring that everything was cleaned properly. Any anxiety I was feeling before starting my tattoo was calmed by Sean. During my tattoo he would constantly check-in with me that I was comfortable or if I needed anything. Cannot wait for my next tattoo therapy session with him! I will definitely be referring Sean to all of my friends, family and patients who want a great tattoo and experience. For many years, I've envied those with ink embedded beneath their skin revealing the truth about their beliefs, the things that make them beautiful and feel good about life. I wanted to do the same thing but my dermatologist always advised against it cause I scar so easily in the worst way. So, I took a leap of faith and decided that I would find out the hard way. Well, after talking to Misty about my skin issue, she proceeded with imprinting my brightly colored butterfly fluttering in the middle of my spine and she did it with extra care. She even asked for me to send pics to see how the healing process was developing. I did just that and her response was ecstatic. Now, it's been months and there's no sign of scarring. A few weeks after my first piece, she texted me to see how it was healing and to let me know to come in when it needed a touchup and she'd do it for free. She constantly makes herself available outside of the shop, which is why I continue to get work done from her, well along with her talent of course.
