It's true to its name- very tasty momos! We got the beef and pork to share. My friend preferred the pork- and thought they were more flavorful. I enjoyed both, and would like to continue sampling. It's a bit of a wait, but I think that's just because everything is being freshly made with care. I love the two savory and spicy sauces they give you. So warming and delicious! I'm sorry but MoMo was a big NoNo for me. I ordered on March 11 thru some app. I know businesses don't like it due to high commissions but during the beginning of Covid uncertainty I wanted to be cashless. The prices were on high side and since this was a Mom and Pop run business I did not leave a tip for my takeout that I am picking up myself. I usually do if it is a big operation with non family employees but I felt in this situation not necessary. As a result they didn't treat me that great. I just flew in from California and I was starving. It was highly rated and not a huge detour that's why I chose them. I arrived after my pickup time and there are 2 tables of 2 people each dining inside. They tell me it will be a few minutes. It was like 12 additional minutes (now about 45 min total). They didn't even prepare it yet. 4 family members "working". Total inefficiency. I expected to be in and out. I didn't pay for meter and sprinted to avoid meter maid giving me a ticket on way out. Just made it but he still made me put quarter in lol. The food was unremarkable and pricey for what it was. The momo (dumplings) were 2/5. Just didn't see the hype. I generally love dumplings, not these. The curry goat was 4/5 but smallish portion. Goat is cheap meat, lots of bones but tasty. Basically poor mans lamb. Don't be stingy. Advice to owners. You obviously have pleased many of your customers. Work on efficiency. In today's Covid situation takeout will be your business model for years. Dining in is done for your operation, not that you have more than a few tables anyway. Have one of your young relatives design a website with a Shopify type option where you process pick up orders yourself. No third party fees. It's so easy to build a basic and clean website now. No experience needed. Link it to an instagram account too with photos of your food. You could probably do the local delivery yourself, like the good old days and generate additional income thru delivery tips. Voilà. read more

I've had MoMo's from Tasty Mo:Mo, Momo n Curry, and Mint Indian Eatery, and I have done a "momo taste-off" among the three places a couple times with friends, both blind-taste test and open. Tasty Mo:Mo always loses. HOWEVER, that's not to say that the momos here are bad. They are good. The other places are just better. More about the momos: they are consistently the prettiest. It's always nicely wrapped and they look great. If you like them spicy, the spicy version packs quite some heat. The inner filling tends to be the blandest compared with momo n curry (which is filled with chunky flavors) and mint indian eatery (has a curry flavor). The filling is the smoothest, which if that's your texture, then great. At the end of the day, if you need some momos and are in the area, come and get some! But otherwise, there are two alternative options in town. I cannot speak for the non-momo items on the menu. read more

Small takeout place with a few seats, but excellent food. There aren't a ton of items on the menu but that is ok as they are trying to keep the options simple. We got the chow mein, paneer, goat curry and a order of pork momos. The portions were good sized and everything came out quickly. I would definitely recommend the goat curry since I am a huge fan, but it was a special item of the day so I am not sure they serve it all the time. Tasty Mo-Mo is a great find. Delicious and very nominally priced. We ordered for the noodles (chicken and veg), chicken fried rice and a chicken dumpling. The noodles were so good and the red sauce in the side gives it the perfect heat if you need it. The dumplings comes with two types of sauces, nice and tangy and has the perfect heat to compliment the great taste of the dumplings. This place is easy and convenient and good service. This restaurant in Magoun Square has a limited seating area. Full disclosure: I'd never had Momos before this. The food was pretty good; my adventurous boyfriend and I ordered the chili Momos and the pork chow mein. The Momos were amazingly chewy and tasty. I think I would've liked regular, non-spicy Momos more, though. I'm pretty sensitive to spicy food. The chow mein was okay but nothing amazing. read more

Three stars for the dumplings with a bonus star for the incredible story behind them. I am ALWAYS here for dumplings of any kind, but add a community minded, self made chef here to represent her country through incredible, authentic food, and I'm absolutely sold. This was my first nepalese dumpling experience. I tried the chicken momos- one order with chili and one without- per the chef's recommendations in her Scout Somerville interview. I love spicy food, especially spicy dishes that bring their heat through complex and interesting flavors. The chili momos fit the bill. Not my favorite dumpling ever, but definitely delicious and worth trying. Fair pricing and a mission you can feel good about. Love the food! A very small hole in the wall kind of a place with just 1 table and a couple of stools lined against the wall. But the amazing food compensated for that! Tried the pan fried and chilli sauce momos both with chicken stuffing followed by egg chowmein. The mo mos are fantastic! I had a weeklong dumpling craving and decided to give this place a try. The jhol mo mos come with this spicy sesame soup that compliments it! I'd highly recommend the pork filling. The chili chicken and chicken curry were also delicious. I got medium spice for the chili chicken and it was manageable. I'll probably try the more spicy option in the future. The gulab jamun was a tad bit too sweet, but it was good nonetheless! It's akin to a donut hole or munchkin, dipped in a syrupy liquid. Food: I am no expert on momo, but these were pretty dang tasty. And stunning to look at - the cooks in this kitchen are artists! I had the pork chilli momo and fried chicken momo. The we flavorful, the dough was delicate and tender, and the chilli sauce had a delightful slow kick. On top of that the price was right! Service/Ambience: This is a small place - definitely better serving takeout or those looking to eat on the go. There are a couple crowded tables and chairs, and a few stools at the counter, which surprised me as I was expecting a sit-down meal. (Which explains my 1 star knock...) Avoid my mistake and prepare for pick-up or a quick bite at the counter! And regardless, it felt neat, cozy, and comfortable. To the staff, they were friendly and quick to explain the differences for us momo newbs. As as mentioned before, the artisty that came out of that kitchen was SO wonderful! Love how fresh everything tasted. You could tell that the food was made to order. The chili Momo was sweet and tangy with just the right amount of spice and the filling was seasoned perfectly. Interesting dumplings! I enjoyed the veggie dumplings, different from the typical fake meat dumplings, these actually used vegetables! Also loved their signature combo of sauces. I don't mind the wait when it's for cooking custom orders. They tell you it's going to be a 15 min wait. But there was something about this place that also felt like a ghetto fast food joint. It wasn't extremely fancy or high quality, but it wasn't the cheap fare you'd get at a typical shack either. So while it wasn't superb, I think it has its special traits that distinguish it from other cuisine. Worth trying if you're by yourself or on the go. read more

I'm so, so glad I found this place! Some of the BEST dumplings in the area - super fresh and delicious! I've tried both their regular Chicken Momo and Chicken Chili Momo, and both were absolutely amazing. Each dumpling is packed with a succulent meat filling, and the wrappers themselves are the perfect consistency and thickness. They dumplings are also pleated and cooked very well, so you always get perfect momos. You do have to wait around 15 minutes for the dumplings to cook, but it's so worth it! Plus, you're guaranteed really fresh dumplings :) The Chili Momo is pretty spicy, so I think I'm going to stick with the regular momos from now on... With each order, you'll get 8 dumplings, and the regular momos come with a chili sauce and a tomato sauce. If you have a big appetite or are starving, I would recommend getting two orders. read more

Loved my dinner from Tasty Mo:Mo. An order of chicken momos (9 pieces) and aloo dum was more than enough to satisfy my hunger. The dumpling itself was great. Just the right amount of chew in the wrapping, a perfect dough to stuffing ratio. It comes with two sauces, a tomato sauce and a chilli sauce, but has enough flavor of its own if you don't like the sauces. Both sauces have a bit of heat, especially the chilli sauce. Very flavorful. The aloo dum was also crazy flavorful. Potatoes cooked just right with a thick almost stew-like tomato base sauce. I ordered it medium and it had a good bite. The prices are very reasonable, cost me just about $13 for both. Service was friendly. Their menu warns it will take at least 15 minutes because they make everything to order. I ordered two plates of chicken momos and one plate of the beef momos for delivery today. I was immediately impressed by how perfectly the momos were pleated. The first thing I did was test the chili sauce. It had a great kick and flavor to it. It was as good as any chili sauce I've had at other restaurants. Speaking of authenticity, I've never had momos from Nepal. I've had the Indo-Nepalese version which has a great deal more warmth and kick to it, possibly from more garlic and ginger, than its Himalyan counterpart. This was all I had as a reference point. According to some of the Nepalese Yelpaholics, Tasty Mo Mo is authentic. Which means "authentic" Nepalese momos are subtler in flavor than what I grew up on. This is where disappointment set in. Was it in fact tasty? Yes. It had a unique flavor profile that I've never tasted in other momos. But it left my taste buds vaguely dissatisfied. I guess I can't help comparing every momo I eat to the ones I had at a small open-air stall in New Delhi more than a decade ago. I'm like the pathetic loser who can't help comparing every girl he meets to the one that got away, the ex who blew his mind. I'm a little surprised by my own finickiness because literally everything was perfect. Even the dough-to-meat ratio was perfect in every momo. But Yelp reviews are sometimes more about the raw emotion you walked away with than a play-by-play of the food. I walked away thinking, "Those were ok." read more

I actually didn't get to taste my food because 1. My food wasn't delivered to my apartment and 2. My food was left in the lobby of my building, not labeled. With COVID, unfortunately, I was not going to inspect the food in the bag to confirm whether the order was mine or not. I would prefer if the restaurant at a minimum spells my name correctly and adds my unit number instead of sending a nameless bag.
