While many newer burger places attempt to overwhelm the consumer, Howdy Burger's approach seems to be keeping things simple and delivering what the people want while staying true to the "burger joint" identity. I've had Howdy Burger 2 or 3 times through the years. My first visit was likely in/at Mother Road Market but a more recent visit was on October 29th (2025). In the midst of an economic stall (the federal government was shut down for 4 weeks at that point), eating out seemed like a luxury. I visited around 2pm for lunch. The weather was chilly and the staff was readily available. I was greeted and I browsed the menu for about 2mins before ordering. I ended up getting a single burger & rodeo fries. Afterwards, me & the lady cashier had a brief conversation about the state of the world as business was slower than usual. The restaurant isn't huge but it was well maintained. I sat near the West windows and the food came out shortly after. The highlight of the food was easily the burger itself. It was a decent size, the bread was soft, and the patty was just thick enough. Each bite was equally satisfying as they didn't hold back on the toppings. I will say that the fries are pretty standard, even with the extra toppings. I don't think the Rodeo Fries are worth wild but it didn't hurt to try. Lastly, I LOVE the variety of sauces they offer and the staff are happy to add them directly onto the sandwich or place them on the side. I've since returned to have the Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was just as good, if not better, than most famed chicken sandwich spots. I wasn't familiar with Howdy for a while and, as mentioned, there are many other places to get a cheeseburger, sandwich and/or fries. But what I like about Howdy is that they don't try too hard, they know what sells and they offer great service. Considering the price, consistency in their products and good people behind the counter, Howdy Burger is good enough to replace your favorite burger chain and/or fast food spot.

This is one of those greasy spoon burger joints that serves up "tasty" thin patty steak burgers, great shakes and caramel twist cones. Even if you are not into burgers the twist is a must and worth the drive from Tulsa. It's a really cool vanilla twist but with caramel swirled in. Take a look at my picture to see, it's delicious. I'm pretty sure this is a franchise but it still has that local burger joint feel. I know the brand was founded in the 1950s and this location has been locally operated since the 60s. It's a Skiatook institution and serves up an overall great classic cheeseburger that I'm sure the locals are proud of. I've stopped by for a burger at least four times and each visit received great customer service and burgers. read more

So... walked in around 12:30 or so and eyeballed the menu, which is blissfully simple, a nice change from some local franchises. Keeping it basic, I went with a cheeseburger, no onions and a small order of fries. I like that the only two choices I had to make wasthe toppings on my burger and the seasoning on my fries, which turned out to be the cajun seasoning. My order was a to-go order, and the wait time was maybe a tad long, but nothing I'd gripe about. I will admit that this time my preconceptions turned out almost completely wrong. Given most franchise burger places, I expected an anemic 1/4 lb paper thin overcooked patty buried under a mountain of lettuce. Not so. Here's one area where they did shine. The burger, once home and unwrapped was really nice looking. Easily 3-4" thick with a really thick meat patty and proportional amounts of trimmings, except for the cheese, which was there in abundance. All this is a nice way of saying it was a hot mess of a burger, in a good way. Burger was probably a solid 8/10. Where it came up short was flavor. It was good, and it hit the basic marks of a solid diner burger, but overall, the flavor was just average. Not sure what they could have done to enhance the flavor, but it just didn't measure up to places like Goldie's and OMG solely in flavor. Don't get me wrong, it was a good burger, but it wasn't a great burger. When it comes to the fries, I recommend you order the smallest size and see how that works. I ate fries all the way home (5 minute drive), and once home, split the order with my son and still had more than I could eat. And they were good fries.... not sure about 'cajun', but good nonetheless. I now understand why the small order of fries is nearly $6... seems like a lot (and it is), but you get a butt ton of fries. Honestly, I'd rather have an order half the size of the smallest one and not have far more fries than I can eat. The trick there, I suppose is 2 or 3 people order a burger and split the order of fries, so if that's your situation, cost is probably not bad. Service was what you would expect of a take out order, basic and just there. All together, the bill for the burger and fries was $18.49. Overall, I admit to underestimating 5 Guys based on the fact they're a franchise. The burger was good, if average. The fries were really good, if massively oversized. Not sure I'll be a regular because there's just better burgers in Owasso for the same or less money.
