I'm in Tulsa visiting from Texas, couldn't wait to dine at Hanks, as I grew up eating there while living in Tulsa. I arrived at 6:30P, the lobby was open the wait person says she meant to lock the door and that I needed to place a to.go.order, even though there was plenty of time for me to eat by 7pm when they close. Not my problem that she forgot to lock the.lobby, if it's open, customers should be allowed to dine in. There were 4 other people seated, they received their food at the same time I received mine. She sat my food on the counter and then walked to door as to say now get out. It's the suttle racism that people like her think we dont notice and perhaps they don't realize they are being racist. So I sat in my car and ate my food, meanwhile, the four people in the lobby finished their food and she escorted them out and locked the door, it was about 7 minutes till, so she was more concerned about getting off than serving customers. Next,a couple more cars drove up and they were not let in, even to place a to.go order. She seemed like a manager, as she supervised the other 2 people. She should have demonstrated more self awareness than she did. What do you think the other two employees will do in a similar situation. Honestly, the food was as good as ever, the service was horrible and selfish, not the warm friendly, down home Hanks I remembered from high school. Things do change,in this case not for the better. Not sure I'll ever visit Hanks again.

Cool old-timey vibe. Probably hasn't changed much since 1949. Just did not live up to the hype of "Best Burger in Tulsa."

Ordered ahead as we were passing through Tulsa for a late lunch on our way to Missouri and glad we picked this place. Affordable, quick, and very tasty! We both got bacon cheeseburgers as well as onion rings to share and it filled us up! The lady who took my order wasn't necessarily super friendly or anything, but I'll ignore her lack of friendliness considering everything else.

Picture doesn't do it justice but you need to try these burgers!

Very friendly staff and great burger. Was in town on business (From Texas) and wanted a burger and this was highly recommended on Yelp and did not disappoint.

Hank's Hamburgers has been a Tulsa landmark since 1949. Hank's serves burgers with onions grilled directly to the meat. Claimed to be Tulsa's best burgers and malts. At least part of this claim is false. Hank's has not been serving malts for some times now since the malt machine broke which would cost $20,000 to replace. Hank's special burger is good. Is it the best burger in Tulsa? It depends on your preference. If you're talking old fashioned burger, then probably but if you're talking burger in general, then probably not. I think there are too many restaurants now that could give Hank's some serious competition. I do like the grilled onions on the burgers but I really need more. Hank's burgers are very "meaty" in general and the burgers are quite large. They really need to double bag the fried okra because the oil will soak through one bag or let it dry first before putting in the bag. Hank's is really affordable though. A combination meal which comes with a burger, drink, and side would run around $12-$13. You can't really beat that.

Here's another old place in Tulsa, been around since 1949 or so. Now, this place can look a little sketchy on the outside; but on the inside, it's really kinda cute and very clean. The coney dog: This coney was a pretty good coney dog. The chili was very good tasting...and I'd eat a bowl of that; just as a chili. The hot dog; a beef hotdog; sure reminded me a Hebrew National hot dog. The burger: the bun was toasted and the way the burger was dressed, were the upsides to the burger. The burger is cooked on a flattop. And though the beef has an ok beef flavor. The burger itself is such a dry texture. And the tightness of the burger patty, has the pre-made, compact, super dense chew, that is far less than ideal. The fries were nothing special. And the okra was certainly cooked a bunch....But, put a little salt on the okra, there's something about it (that was very good).

This burger was amazing. The meat was juicy, the toppings were fresh, and everything came together perfectly. It was one of the best burgers I have had in a long time

Hooray for great burgers!!! Yes, this place is old, small, and it definitely can use some upgrades. But you really don't think of that when you've got great burgers. Hanks burgers are doggone good! The fresh juicy patties, with the soft buns...can't beat it! The best burgers? Not sure. But what I know is FOR SURE I'll be takin my hubby here to try it out. He'll love it! AND! There is Ashley's Flea Market down the street! More than one reason to come to Hanks! Great service, juicy and cheap burgers. Thumbs UP!

Oklahoma seems to have a certain pride when it comes to burger joints that keep it simple. Tulsa…read morehas many chains, local restaurants and pop-ups that are familiar and filling. Encroaching on a seemingly crowded market can be tough but somehow Howdy feels like an already-established diner. While many newer burger places attempt to overwhelm the consumer, Howdy Burger's approach seems to be keeping things simple and delivering what the people want while staying true to the "burger joint" identity. I've had Howdy Burger 2 or 3 times through the years. My first visit was likely in/at Mother Road Market but a more recent visit was on October 29th (2025). In the midst of an economic stall (the federal government was shut down for 4 weeks at that point), eating out seemed like a luxury. I visited around 2pm for lunch. The weather was chilly and the staff was readily available. I was greeted and I browsed the menu for about 2mins before ordering. I ended up getting a single burger & rodeo fries. Afterwards, me & the lady cashier had a brief conversation about the state of the world as business was slower than usual. The restaurant isn't huge but it was well maintained. I sat near the West windows and the food came out shortly after. The highlight of the food was easily the burger itself. It was a decent size, the bread was soft, and the patty was just thick enough. Each bite was equally satisfying as they didn't hold back on the toppings. I will say that the fries are pretty standard, even with the extra toppings. I don't think the Rodeo Fries are worth wild but it didn't hurt to try. Lastly, I LOVE the variety of sauces they offer and the staff are happy to add them directly onto the sandwich or place them on the side. I've since returned to have the Fried Chicken Sandwich and it was just as good, if not better, than most famed chicken sandwich spots. I wasn't familiar with Howdy for a while and, as mentioned, there are many other places to get a cheeseburger, sandwich and/or fries. But what I like about Howdy is that they don't try too hard, they know what sells and they offer great service. Considering the price, consistency in their products and good people behind the counter, Howdy Burger is good enough to replace your favorite burger chain and/or fast food spot.

The burger came on toast and is very similar to a patty melt if you like that style. Honestly it was a great burger. The wife and I shared some cheese and onion fries... I can't say enough about how delicious it was. It takes a LOT of reading before you can figure out what you want. I understand wanting to highlight farms that the beef is sourced from, but it shouldn't be the most prominent thing in the menu. It's super confusing. Last, the truffle fries need reworked badly. I got fries with some truffle-esque condiment squeezed randomly on top. Fries needed to be tossed in the sauce while hot, so it was a soggy mess. 1/5, wouldn't recommend those.
