Our Chinatown food tour started here. This is somewhere I never would have picked to eat on my own but after tasting the dumplings, I know we will be back. We were given 3 freshly made Chive and Pork fried dumplings. So crispy on the outside and so tasty and soft on the inside. Sorry I forgot to take a photo. Trust me- so good! The price ...unbeatable! We were told that they are made fresh and hand rolled every morning!
Nothing like classic rumblings. Have been here a couple of times and always hits. Obvs cash only but work it for a quick bite. Always great service and can eat in the park. Overall recommend
Cheap dumplings at rock bottom prices litter social media. It always seemed enticing to me. Somon Monday Jen and I went to Chinatown and walked a lot to find Tasty Dumpling. One look at this no frills bare bone place was disappointing. Grade Pending? Yikes! I wanted to run away but we were hungry and where else could we go? For $6.50 ten pork and chive dumplings were given to me. Jen chose ten pork and cabbage dumplings along with a pork pancake. So how are these dumplings? Both of us saw that the wrappers were thick and Jen didn't eat hers. She only ate the meat. I ate five and gave up in exasperation. Tasty Dumpling may be cheap but the quality is dismal. Quite a few tourists were here probably to boast about the cheap dumpling find they discovered in the Big Apple. Even if someone paid me, I wouldn't go here.

I grew up down here. Given the endless supply of social media foodie influencers inundating us w Chinatown content prices everywhere have risen ten fold. Long gone are the days of 5 dumplings for a buck, but still in the current economy 4 dumplings for $2 dollars nowadays is a bargain. There far from the best, but they're also so far from the worst. Throw a little Sriracha, hot oil and soy sauce, wash it down with a Diet Coke and you are good to go. Tasty Dumpling in!
My expectations were pretty low when I ordered the $2 dumplings but boy was I wrong! These might have been some of the best cheap dumplings I've ever had. Better than din tai Fung for sure. And a fraction of the price! Plus there's a cute park across the street to enjoy your delicious dumplings.
If you're looking for cheap and quick dumplings definitely go here! This is your no frills dumpling spot for sure. Service is quick and simple, and they take cash only. I got the pork and chive and pork and cabbage fried and you get 4 pieces for $2! A steal. I also got the spicy cucumber and that was tasty as well.

Highly recommend the pancake as long as you eat it hot and fresh! It gets busy at lunch, but the service is fast and there are tables where you can sit. Doesn't really get too loud though. Definitely a quick spot to eat, and I saw lots of people doing take out. Highly recommend if you're in Chinatown!
Tasty Dumpling offers Beijing-style dumplings as well as dim sum options, noodle soups, and cold dishes. They also have frozen dumplings that you can purchase to steam/pan-fry at home. We came here check their dumplings out, and tried: +Shrimp & Chive Boiled Dumplings - aka, #6; comes with 8 dumplings; super thick skin, and the filling was somewhat generous; was just not flavorful enough, even with the soy sauce mixture +Chive & Pork Fried Dumplings - aka #1; comes with 4 pieces; seems like the dumplings were dipped in some type of a marinade and then fried; it had more of a savory/sweet taste to it You can also choose to have these dumplings on a plate or in a soup. There are plenty of tables, and there seem to be a lot of call-ins for carry-outs. No dice, Tasty Dumpling. +Beijing-style dumplings +super thick skin
Nowadays it's hard to find cheap and delicious dumplings like the good old days ( before inflation). So this spot was quite nostalgic. Even though the store does not put much effort in their interior, they do put a lot of effort in making the dumplings good! They do not skimp out on the fillings. It is seasoned perfectly and you see that juice? I can eat their dumplings all day! My only qualm is that the dumpling skin is slightly on the thicker end. And it's cash only. We ordered: Chives & Pork Fried Dumplings Boiled Dumplings
The homemade chili oil makes this. The dumplings were tasty, but I wish it was a little hotter.
Review We found Tasty Dumplings after a food tour person we happened to bump into on Canal Street recommended it to us. I'm so glad we listened! We tried #1 and #2, the chive and pork with the cabbage and pork dumplings, and both were made fresh right there. You could see the little older Chinese ladies cooking and serving, and they were so friendly and fast. It's a small place with only about six tables, but that honestly added to the charm. The dumplings were hot, fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Such a great little find in Chinatown. Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the area! read more
No-frills dumpling spot that only takes cash. They were very quick to serve us, and the dumplings were very cheap, at around 50 cents each. The flavor of the dumplings were pretty good, although I couldn't quite distinguish the chive from the cabbage. However, they didn't feel the freshest to me. read more

Went around lunchtime on a weekday and went up to order. I got the fried chive and pork dumplings (4 for $2) and it was amazing -- had the perfect crispy bottom. I'm not normally a fan of chive (or scallions / other green onions varieties) but it was hidden in the pork well enough that I couldn't taste it. There is indoor seating but definitely a bit limited when there's a lot of customers. Great for a quick bite and a delicious dumpling! read more

Fast casual place that serves Chinese fare, I ordered veggie dumplings and they unfortunately did not have any flavor!!! Just cabbage and blah. I also ordered a spicy cucumber, which was also equally disappointing. For the prices this place is great but price, quality and taste almost never add up unfortunately. read more

First stop on our good NYC tour. This is a small local shop / with big flavor!! I highly recommend stopping in for the dumplings!! So delicious, made fresh. Grab them to go and eat in the park across the street! read more
This spot is so popular for the cheap food, but I didn't think they are that special. I ordered the Chive & Pork Panfried Dumplings ($2 for 4pcs) and Scallion Pancake ($3). The food was ready in a few minutes as you can see the panfried dumplings already cooked and sitting on the wok, so they weren't the freshest. I also found the dumpling wrapper to be on the thick and chewy side, so good if that's your preference. I prefer my dumplings thin and crispy instead. The hot sauce they had was quite watered down as well, so didn't make the dumplings any better. While the dumplings were a letdown for me, I did really enjoy the scallion pancake. It's a huge piece cut in half, so it feels like you get two pieces. This was freshly cooked, so it was hot and crispy while being chewy on the inside. The scallion pancake had the perfect texture and flavor, so I'd only come back for this. read more
Second stop in the walking dumpling tour (list in profile) and it did not disappoint. Would rank it a solid 4 out of 6 spots I visited. Another one of the original spots for fried dumplings, this place was good. Filling was generous and extremely flavorful but the outer layer was soggy and falling apart. I ordered 30 dumplings for the group and I think a good 10 had a broken outer layer which made it come in 4th instead of 3rd. A nice store front directly across from Columbus park with plenty of seating, orders were generated relatively fast. A lot of people were eating the steamed and fried dumplings. I think this place could easily be thrown into the discussion for BEST fried dumplings in Chinatown if their pan fried dumpling were.... actually fried. Unfortunately, a dumpling that cannot live up to its name of being pan fried cannot be a dumpling nominated to be the best in Chinatown. read more

No-frills pops dumpling place that offers good handmade dumplings and a really good price. If you're passing by with friends and just looking for something else to snack on as you're walking, definitely check this place out. You know when they say don't talk the talk of you don't walk the walk... yeah this place matches that energy. They are called Tasty Dumpling and oh baby do they always deliver. I was honestly debating on posting this sweet hidden gem cuz you don't want all the best spots ruined by influencers no offense to anyone. But back to the delightful dumplings, Prices are great food is definitely worth every penny! This is definitely a place I hit up quite often and it definitely will hit the right spots in your belly especially when your rent is due and you only have a couple of dollars . read more
No frills spot that is cash only, and has an ATM on the outside. I was looking for decent dumplings and the standard fried dumplings do hit the mark, though they are on the saltier side. (Quite salty actually, and I love salt) Pricing - 4 fried dumplings for $2. Can't beat that. They also sell dumplings in bulk to make at home read more

We hit this spot every time we visit chinatown. Cash only spot for a quick cheap bite. My partner loves the beef pan fried dumplings for their thick outer skin and juicy meat. The shrimp and chive could have more flavor but everything is always hot and fresh. There is indoor seating and is a fairly clean restaurant. read more

The lady at the counter was hard to understand and had some spice to her character. This place is a hole in the wall type of place that you can get cheap food for a large quantity. My friend and I were craving dumplings in Chinatown, and we settled on this spot. The tables were quite dirty and the cashier wasn't the friendliest person; generally hole-in-the-wall places don't have the best service, but the food can be incredible. The menu here was super affordable. Please note that this is a cash-only establishment. I ordered Cabbage & Pork Boiled Dumplings (10 for $5.50), while my friend got a Scallion Pancake ($3) and Shrimp & Chive Boiled Dumplings (8 for $7). The chefs were generous with the meat inside the dumplings. However, the pork dumplings were way too tough and all the dumplings had very thick skin. Flavor-wise, the Shrimp & Chive Boiled Dumplings tasted better than the pork ones. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the Scallion Pancake; it was delicious and very soft. I do think this restaurant is a great option if you're looking for affordable food, but I personally wouldn't recommend it to those seeking authentic Chinese dumplings. read more

Last of the reviews from our trip a month or so ago to Chinatown, NYC. I had a lot of people tell me the fried dumplings here were incredible. Maybe it was just because of how much they were talked up, but I didn't find them to be as great as people lead on. These were by no means bad, but I've had better dumplings at no less than 4 other Chinatown spots. They should change the name of the place to "Tasty Scallion Pancake" though because these may be the best scallion pancakes I've had anywhere. Perfect consistency and good scallion flavor throughout. I really despise when scallion pancakes hold a lot of oil in them and these were light and not oily. For sure I'd recommend them to anyone. The establishment was barely acceptable as far as cleanliness goes too, and that's coming from someone who is very lenient on those types of things. The woman was friendly enough taking orders, and the prices were good. Definitely Didn't Suck, but I'd get the scallion pancakes and some other dishes next time and skip the dumplings read more

The lady behind the counter is so sweet. Unfortunately, the cabbage pork dumplings wasn't the best. They didn't have chive with pork which is what I usually get from dumpling shops. It was pan fried, but it wasn't crispy or crunchy at the bottom. The dumplings were also warm and not hot. It was soft and all of them were broken so there weren't any juices inside the dumplings. I probably didn't get a good batch. The meat is also too fatty and soft. For $2, you get 4 dumplings and it's a steal. The interior is standard with table and chairs. I was really excited to try Tasty Dumpling after seeing it on TikTok lol. It was not as I expected or I guess rather I should have expected to get what you pay for. The service was super fast. I got my order as soon as ai paid. Four pork and chive fried dumplings for $2 is incredibly cheap! However, it tasted like it had been cooked in old oil and reheated. I won't be returning but feel free to try. read more
