Another one of the original spots for fried dumplings, this place was good. Filling was generous and extremely flavorful but the outer layer was soggy and falling apart. I ordered 30 dumplings for the group and I think a good 10 had a broken outer layer which made it come in 4th instead of 3rd. A nice store front directly across from Columbus park with plenty of seating, orders were generated relatively fast. A lot of people were eating the steamed and fried dumplings. I think this place could easily be thrown into the discussion for BEST fried dumplings in Chinatown if their pan fried dumpling were.... actually fried. Maybe it was just because of how much they were talked up, but I didn't find them to be as great as people lead on. They should change the name of the place to "Tasty Scallion Pancake" though because these may be the best scallion pancakes I've had anywhere. Perfect consistency and good scallion flavor throughout. The establishment was barely acceptable as far as cleanliness goes too, and that's coming from someone who is very lenient on those types of things.
