    visited this restaurant recently with my coworkers, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The first couple of bites were okay, but as we kept eating, the taste started to change and reminded us of the unpleasant smell you'd encounter at a live poultry market. It was hard to enjoy the meal after that. To make matters worse, my coworker and I both ended up with stomach problems soon after eating here. We even had to call out of work the next day because of it. This was my second time eating here, and the first visit was perfectly fine, so I'm not sure what went wrong this time. I'm willing to believe this was just a fluke, but once I get stomach issues from a place, that's a red flag I can't ignore. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

    I am rating by food not decor. I accidentally went in to this shop because of the hanging duck by the window. But as I entered, the man was slicing some roast pork. The pork looked juicy and the skin sounded crisp. I changed my mind and switched to pork. I did a take out if an entire slice not to be chopped. If you like crisp skin, they did it right! Not even burnt! And part of the meat I got was also juicy. I was just in heaven when I tried it at home. He did not chop it up to my request. This way of I decide to heat it up, the meat will not dry up as much. It turned out I could not wait to try it and ate it cold. Perfect still.

    Cash only. It's a no frills restaurant in Chinatown. It's one of my go to restaurants in Chinatown for take out. I either get their lunch specials, chow fun or roast pork.

    I adored this place--a cozy, nondescript, inexpensive, old school Canto joint on Grand, an occasional pit stop for bbq and noodle soups when hungered from grocery shopping--the lady behind the counter and skilled, cleaver wielding guy bbq were always friendly and efficient. However, this past Tuesday, June 18, I ordered the 2-meat bbq rice plate combo of roasted duck and roasted pig which sadly gave me a bad case of food poisoning that lasted 3 horrific days of abdominal pains, dehydration, etc. Needless to say--I'll not be risking another meal there when in Manhattan's Chinatown, despite my love of OG hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

    The lobster was special, I liked it, the rice wasn't so good.

    Walking through Chinatown, I passed by Ming Kee Kitchen. I was drawn by their ad for a whole Peking Duck for $27. Once ordered, it takes them about 15 minutes to prepare it. Ambience: the inside is a little run down. If you judge a book by its cover, then turn around and walk away. Food: Peking Duck was really roasted duck cut into pieces Peking style. Service: no nonsense, skip the pleasantries. TL/DR: if you want Peking Duck, go to a genuine Peking Duck specialist. If you just want some Chinese food, complete with the Chinatown experience, you've come to the right place.

    The first challenge was this is a cash only business. Ordered the pork fried rice and wonton soup. The rice was very bland & only had peas (unlike most fried rice). The wontons were big but overall the soup was not very flavorful.

    Everything tasted great and nostalgic. Really hit the spot. Great price too. It's your hole in the wall Cantonese place which you can't find out in the suburbs. Only negative is they didn't have ingredients for 艇子粥 or 及第粥

The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The busser who managed to spill half a pitcher of cold water on my husband's back, soaking his shirt and jacket and barely apologizing, is a whole other story. We managed to get a glass of his mediocre Cabernet comped for the experience. If I sound annoyed, I guess I still am. I had high hopes for a fun and tasty experience in a cool part of the city and it just wasn't.

Then we got a handful of apps - everyone else swore by all the ones they'd had - but I just tried the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and... sweet baby Jesus, this little plate had a wicked amount of flavor from every angle.  "Aggressively seasoned" might be an understatement.  Wild. Onto the mains and I ventured towards their Spicy Drunken Noodle (my go-to whenever I'm hitting a Thai restaurant on my home turf) and... yeah, you probably guessed it - incredible. Not the biggest portion but they made every single component sing with flavor. With so much going on - of course I needed to indulge with another drink (hey, I wasn't driving!). There were six of us, it came to about $100 a person... welcome to NYC. But we did get a wide selection of plates/food and those two drinks accounted for about $40 of my tab. (And you'll never see such a heavy wine pour at a restaurant... they filled the glass almost to the rim - which was not even something I'd do for myself when I'm home.) Definitely recommended.
