Tasty Donuts is the perfect, no frills, cash-preferred neighborhood donut spot. I brought donuts from here to my friend's holiday party and they were an absolute hit! The shop is in an unassuming corner of the Vons shopping plaza and the woman running it is very sweet. They sell out of many things by afternoon so plan accordingly if you want something specific. My favorite thing is the cronut holes. Perfectly flaky, evenly glazed, and not greasy at all!! Cronut holes are 50 cents a pop and regular donut holes are 25 cents each. The donuts are a good size and very reasonably priced. I got a dozen cronut holes and four donuts for $15! Definitely will be a go to place for a sweet treat if I get groceries at the Vons next door. read more

I stopped by around 9 AM; the donuts still tasted fresh. I ordered a cronut, a blueberry frosting, and an original glazed, but they were all overly sweet. Customer service started off a little rocky, but she warmed up as I asked her a few questions about her product. read more

They were tasty donuts. Service was good. Looked like a normal donut shop inside. Normally when I go to a donut shop in the afternoon it would be slim pickings and not the greatest tasting donuts. This place still had a very good selection and I have to admit it is up there in the best tasting donuts in San Diego. I would definitely come back to get donuts. read more

Oh what, I haven't written a review for this place yet or posted any photos! This is by far my favorite donut shop!!! My brother who is a donut connoisseur will go out of his way to come get a hold of these donuts as well. I would say it's a little hidden gem (in a plaza with vons and right next to the private gym) - hidden if you didn't know about them already or was specifically searching for donut shops to try. A family owned mom and pop shop. They are always so friendly and welcoming. These are your traditional donuts with a few more unique items like the peanut butter donut, cronuts, & cinnamon lotus. My personal favorite here are their old fashion donuts and maple filled donut bars, they make it the best with quality ingredients! Always perfectly fried/crispy/sweet. Oh and don't forget those donut holes, I can devour a dozen in one seating, Yum! We've had custom made donuts here for several events: my gender reveal, baby shower and daughters 1st birthday. Guest really loved the blueberry & strawberry filled donut holes. Highly recommend! read more

Counter people were extremely nice. I told them I was looking for a chocolate glazed donut with vanilla crème filling and while they did not have it, one of the counter people went in the back and made it for me. The donut was delicious and a good price too. Planning to return to try one of their breakfast sandwiches and probably another donut too! read more

I no longer live in San Diego but whenever I come down I make sure to stop at tasty donuts. Not only for myself but for my grandma - she is a huge fan. There's always a huge selection and the donuts always taste fresh. I appreciate the family vibe when I come here. I will continue to come here as long as my grandma loves donuts (which will be forever!!!) I should have taken a photo of all the vibrant donuts- but please look at this Mulan mask I bought there! I had no intention of buying a mask when I came by but I couldn't help looking at all the cute designs and this one happens to fit me perfectly and is so so comfy. One of my co-workers brought these for an early morning meeting. It was such a welcome surprise. I won't lie, it was such a surprise, I already had my coffee and breakfast bread for the morning. Because I like my co-worker and he is a swell guy, I got a donut. I am sooo happy I did. I picked out the coconut beauty (a cake donut). The donut was moist, had a great mouth feel (ie not greasy), with a mild donut flavor, not over powering. The topping was a white icing with coconut, not to sweet, and yummy. I talked to the folks that had the jelly, cinnamon roll, choc frosted; they all loooooved their donuts. Ohh and the blueberry was out of this world. So. I've lived in San Francisco, New York, and London and this donut shop is hands down the best I've ever tried (yes, even ahead of Bob's Donuts in SF!). Whenever I come home to visit my family in SD, I always make sure to come here at least once during my trip as part of my SD food rounds. Their donuts are simply amazing - whatever they put in the dough is delicious and their donuts are always fresh, light, and fried perfectly so that it's just enough to make the edges slightly crispy but never making the donut itself greasy. My favorite is their sugar round followed by their chocolate round. I recently tried their cronuts, but was not a huge fan - it's not as croissant-like as you'd want and I can get a lot better cronuts in NY - I'd definitely stick with the classic donuts, which they are best at. The name says it all Tasty Donuts! I like their glazed and chocolate donuts. What i like most about this donut shop is their donuts have a that slight crispy crunch when you bite into them while its still soft and moist inside. I also like their cronuts (croissant / donuts). I've had them at other places where they are nothing special. I never understood the whole cronut thing until i've had them here. They are very crispy and light, which is what makes them so special. They also offer cronut holes too, if you want just a bite and a little less guilt. For your regular standard donuts, this is one of my favorites. For cronuts these are the best in SD. read more

My kids and I always stop here for a treat after a weekend hike or bike adventure. The staff are super nice and patient with indecisive kiddos. The donuts are always fresh and delicious. They have a great selection no matter what time of day you stop by. This is the best donut place in the area. read more

Omg- CRONUTS! So, ever since I saw the documentary Donut King, in October, I've been stopping at every independent donut shop I pass. Tasty Donuts is a classic! And the cronuts, I.e. croissant-donuts are amazing. Well worth the unscheduled stop and now I've made it an appointment on my weekly agenda. Excellent glaze and delicious flaky layers to make your eyeballs roll back in your head. This strip mall is very quiet so there's plenty of parking. Service is great and friendly. Bring cash because cards of any kind debit or credit will cost you .50 extra. Support small businesses during this pandemic. Wear a mask to enter. You'll be ripping it off soon enough in the car to inhale your cronut. Mine didn't make it home and neither will yours. read more

Donuts that Taste Standard After Disc Golfing (yes, I tried it for once in my life) a few friends wanted me to try this Donut Shop located close to their place. Chocolate Donut Maple Bar Glazed Twist Bad news first, the Glazed Twist was crispy but a bit too oily to my liking. Goods news is that the Chocolate and Maple Bar frosting was of good quality and thick. The dough for these two was soft and not oily like the Glazed Twist. It was National donut day on June 1st, so one of our vendors dropped off a box of assorted donuts for the office. There was a cinnamon bun, sprinkled ones, and of course ones with chocolate. Some of the cheapest cronuts around! $1.75 and they have day olds for $1! I got a blueberry and glazed cronut, both were tasty, the blueberry a bit stale and artificial but the glazed was great! They also have cronut holes for a quarter each that looked really good. Service is great, good location, easy parking, I'll be back when I'm in the area again! read more

5 years after we had Tasty Donuts at our wedding, I knew exactly who to go to for the dessert at my baby shower! For 50 guest we ordered 6 dozen custom cake donuts and 3 dozen donut holes and they were fantastic. I finished them with decorations from Etsy that matched my theme and everyone enjoyed them so much. Easy parking in front. Good value $1.60 for a double chocolate donut. 13 donut choices plus a few other items. Raspberry filled was considered, blueberry cake looked a bit unique. I did not think of or see a cronut but apparently they have those delicious treats. Double chocolate donut tasted fresh at 12:30 on a Sunday, not dry, good frosting, particularly good texture. read more

YUMMILICIOUS! An awesometastic co-worker brought two boxes of donuts for us to share that brought so many smiles. My heart was jumping up and down when I saw a cronut! I grabbed it so fast before anyone else can, and ran to the break room for a quick 15 seconds warm up. It smelled so amazing, and with the first bite my tummy was all smiles all day. I loved the bottom has a little crisp, flaky outside and a soft buttery inside. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Everyone enjoyed it, and it did not last very long. This location is inside Bober Tea and Coffee. There is a glass casing with several flavors to choose from and they sell at $3 a piece. The one that stood out to me was the chocolate with sprinkles. Upon receiving it in a paper pocket bag, the icing was rubbing off on the bag. That immediately told me this is super fresh! I could already feel the softness of the donut. The little sectioned off ball looking segments of the donut are also a game changer when it comes to eating - easier to eat without making a mess! The texture was bouncy, soft, lightly chewy and a little stretchy... the texture was fun and I found myself wanting another afterwards. I do wish they had offer other flavors that don't sounds too sweet because the other flavors didn't really catch me. Until the next review...

We picked out two beautiful donuts, the Chocolate Abuelita and the Cajeta. The Cata looked really nice, but was very plain tasting. The Chocolate Abuelita was definitely better and I liked the Mexican hot chocolate cream in the center. I would give this donut shop one more shot, just because of all the great things I've heard about it from people whose opinions I respect. Honestly, though, there are so many donut shops in town that if I don't find it better the next time I probably wouldn't return.
