Tasty Donuts is the perfect, no frills, cash-preferred neighborhood donut spot. I brought donuts from here to my friend's holiday party and they were an absolute hit! The shop is in an unassuming corner of the Vons shopping plaza and the woman running it is very sweet. They sell out of many things by afternoon so plan accordingly if you want something specific. My favorite thing is the cronut holes. Perfectly flaky, evenly glazed, and not greasy at all!! Cronut holes are 50 cents a pop and regular donut holes are 25 cents each. The donuts are a good size and very reasonably priced. I got a dozen cronut holes and four donuts for $15! Definitely will be a go to place for a sweet treat if I get groceries at the Vons next door.
Oh what, I haven't written a review for this place yet or posted any photos! This is by far my favorite donut shop!!! My brother who is a donut connoisseur will go out of his way to come get a hold of these donuts as well. I would say it's a little hidden gem (in a plaza with vons and right next to the private gym) - hidden if you didn't know about them already or was specifically searching for donut shops to try. A family owned mom and pop shop. They are always so friendly and welcoming. These are your traditional donuts with a few more unique items like the peanut butter donut, cronuts, & cinnamon lotus. My personal favorite here are their old fashion donuts and maple filled donut bars, they make it the best with quality ingredients! Always perfectly fried/crispy/sweet. Oh and don't forget those donut holes, I can devour a dozen in one seating, Yum! We've had custom made donuts here for several events: my gender reveal, baby shower and daughters 1st birthday. Guest really loved the blueberry & strawberry filled donut holes. Highly recommend!
I no longer live in San Diego but whenever I come down I make sure to stop at tasty donuts. Not only for myself but for my grandma - she is a huge fan. There's always a huge selection and the donuts always taste fresh. I appreciate the family vibe when I come here. I will continue to come here as long as my grandma loves donuts (which will be forever!!!) I should have taken a photo of all the vibrant donuts- but please look at this Mulan mask I bought there! I had no intention of buying a mask when I came by but I couldn't help looking at all the cute designs and this one happens to fit me perfectly and is so so comfy. I have too many masks but I just had to buy this one. Next time I get donuts I'm getting another one especially knowing how well they fit me :)
Great selection. Great quality. Great customer service! This is a donut business that takes pride in all aspects of a quality product and friendly customer service. Also, a great variety of donuts to select from and nice seating inside. You can see from the number of customers who come in and that they are repeat. This is a hidden gem for your donut and other cravings as well. Come and pay a visit, you may become a regular yourself!
Always get half a dozen here. I always ask if there's filling in some of their donuts and if it doesn't have, they fill it up for you. Service is always on point here and I just like this place.
Still incredibly delicious donuts!! They are always soft and fresh. I just won't go anywhere else
Small place, but the customer service is on point. Bonus, they have cool masks - at a reasonable price - in case you need one.

This review is long overdue. Probably because I want to keep Tasty Donuts my very own delicious secret! Complete hidden gem, this is my fav donut location! Their donuts are always fresh, classic tasting, not greasy and 100% delicious! There is nothing I don't love about Tasty! They're open daily from 6 am - 5pm. So they don't run out of donuts or croissants in the middle of morning! That is the last thing I need to worry or stress about is if they will still have any donuts later in the morning or afternoon! What I love the most about Tasty donuts is the taste! I've literally been eating donuts since I was a little tot when they only cost $0.35 and just remember that amazing, light, fluffy, airy barely there bite of cloud! This is it! Donuts at most places I find are heavy, dense, have an aftertaste and overly greasy. They have a good selection and always have our usual favorites - for the hubs: regular glazed, sugar, powdered and the gooey filled ones and anything chocolate glazed for me! Regular, bar, twist, donut holes and my old school favorite, the chocolate old fashioned! I usually can get an extra donut and have it the next morning and it wouldn't be a tasteless hockey puck, still yummy! Another fav here is their ham and cheese croissants. They're well made where there is a decent amount ham in the croissant and not left with just bread on one end. Consistently delicious, I absolutely love this mom and pop shop! Tasty Donuts definitely is a hidden Gem alert! Owner and staff are always friendly and fast. No issues parking here. They have the best tasting donuts around! Simply the best! Took a bite and decided this lowkey place deserves a review. The ice coffee was simple great. Owner used coffee ice cubes so the coffee flavor doesn't get diluted s the ice melts! Donut was also pretty good. Great place to take a break if you are doing laundry nearby. Nice lady at the counter. Plain but very clean tables. read more

One of my co-workers brought these for an early morning meeting. It was such a welcome surprise. I won't lie, it was such a surprise, I already had my coffee and breakfast bread for the morning. Because I like my co-worker and he is a swell guy, I got a donut. I am sooo happy I did. I picked out the coconut beauty (a cake donut). The donut was moist, had a great mouth feel (ie not greasy), with a mild donut flavor, not over powering. The topping was a white icing with coconut, not to sweet, and yummy. I talked to the folks that had the jelly, cinnamon roll, choc frosted; they all loooooved their donuts. Ohh and the blueberry was out of this world. So. Not greasy, not too sweet and surprisingly "light" if that makes even possible. If you get donuts you too can be the office hero like my sweet colleague. read more

I've lived in San Francisco, New York, and London and this donut shop is hands down the best I've ever tried (yes, even ahead of Bob's Donuts in SF!). Whenever I come home to visit my family in SD, I always make sure to come here at least once during my trip as part of my SD food rounds. Their donuts are simply amazing - whatever they put in the dough is delicious and their donuts are always fresh, light, and fried perfectly so that it's just enough to make the edges slightly crispy but never making the donut itself greasy. My favorite is their sugar round followed by their chocolate round. I recently tried their cronuts, but was not a huge fan - it's not as croissant-like as you'd want and I can get a lot better cronuts in NY - I'd definitely stick with the classic donuts, which they are best at. Also, love that it's no frills. Love that it's family owned. If you want to try one of the best donuts you will ever have, definitely make a stop at Tasty Donuts! read more

Recently hosted an event at work! The donuts were a hit!!! Absolutely delicious! The apples fritters and cinnamon rolls were my faves!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. John and his wife remind me of my parents. Hardworking and honest (also blunt). Haha. Love supporting local businesses! Will definitely be back for more! read more
The name says it all Tasty Donuts! I like their glazed and chocolate donuts. What i like most about this donut shop is their donuts have a that slight crispy crunch when you bite into them while its still soft and moist inside. I also like their cronuts (croissant / donuts). I've had them at other places where they are nothing special. I never understood the whole cronut thing until i've had them here. They are very crispy and light, which is what makes them so special. They also offer cronut holes too, if you want just a bite and a little less guilt. For your regular standard donuts, this is one of my favorites. For cronuts these are the best in SD. read more

Tried this place to pick up donuts for the office and they were horrible. I think it's the oil they use or something but everyone said something. Yikes, won't be coming back. read more
Well, I experienced my first cronut here, so that was good. It was kinda like re-experiencing a teenage experience, as I ate it, so that even better. Oh yes, and for $1.75...a winner indeed! I tried the chocolate covered cronut. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tasty-donuts-san-diego?select=D9SpjUVKcKCPkyud2hr_gA#D9SpjUVKcKCPkyud2hr_gA) I loved the way the croissant had great golden brown layers on the outside that easy flaked always if gently torn apart (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tasty-donuts-san-diego?select=D9SpjUVKcKCPkyud2hr_gA#WPopTXoigndfe-OeCA5Wfg), that continued to onside, but with a fluffy yet chewy sweet buttery texture. It is no doubt one of those things that you have to experience to fully understand. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tasty-donuts-san-diego?select=D9SpjUVKcKCPkyud2hr_gA#OfMbIJhdCUskTZo9prxL1A) I also tried the a sugar glazed cronut hole. It was a lot sweeter than the chocolate covered one, and its texture was just the same: great. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tasty-donuts-san-diego?select=D9SpjUVKcKCPkyud2hr_gA#7sWHauWVwhQtKJB3fzYpcw) They also carry all the other regular doughnuts, but those cronuts shine here....also the lady who was present when I came in was great. read more

Donuts that Taste Standard After Disc Golfing (yes, I tried it for once in my life) a few friends wanted me to try this Donut Shop located close to their place. Chocolate Donut Maple Bar Glazed Twist Bad news first, the Glazed Twist was crispy but a bit too oily to my liking. Goods news is that the Chocolate and Maple Bar frosting was of good quality and thick. The dough for these two was soft and not oily like the Glazed Twist. Overall, a standard Donut that fills the cravings. read more
Some of the cheapest cronuts around! $1.75 and they have day olds for $1! I got a blueberry and glazed cronut, both were tasty, the blueberry a bit stale and artificial but the glazed was great! They also have cronut holes for a quarter each that looked really good. Service is great, good location, easy parking, I'll be back when I'm in the area again! read more

It was National donut day on June 1st, so one of our vendors dropped off a box of assorted donuts for the office. There was a cinnamon bun, sprinkled ones, and of course ones with chocolate. Nothing really looked that interesting, but I did try a chocolate one. It was pretty good, but nothing special about it. read more

5 years after we had Tasty Donuts at our wedding, I knew exactly who to go to for the dessert at my baby shower! For 50 guest we ordered 6 dozen custom cake donuts and 3 dozen donut holes and they were fantastic. I finished them with decorations from Etsy that matched my theme and everyone enjoyed them so much. Still the best donuts you can get whether you're getting 1 or 100!! read more
