I would give this place 5 stars, but the lady who gave me my burrito in the morning didn't seem too friendly, or eager to bring the burrito out. Here's the story: I decided to take my dog out for a walk after my "morning" jog, and since I keep hearing about Tastees' breakfast burritos, I decided to take that route for the walk, so of course, my dog Happy came along. I realized that I wouldn't be able to bring Happy in, so I let some guy outside take care of her (yeah, I'm a bit too trusting). I tried to hurry up and order, and when it was finally my turn, I asked the lady to bring the burrito outside later because I had a dog waiting for me outside. She looked at me like "o___O" and asked where the dog was, so I just told her that my dog is out of eyesight. After I ordered my bacon & cheese breakfast burrito, she agreed hesitantly. 15 minutes later (ughh such a long wait for such delicious food!), she finally comes out with my SAUSAGE & cheese breakfast burrito, and she didn't even respond to my nice "thank you." I didn't really care, since I was so eager to open up the steamy warm burrito... I took a bite into it... and alas, heaven! Those hash browns in the burrito were the BEST I've ever had, and the eggs were super fluffy. Even the sausage was good, and I couldn't complain about not getting what I ordered :) I would've given 3 stars for the service if I hadn't visited the day before, and met a different, super friendly lady who gave me the two largest and most delicious donuts I've ever had :) I don't know why some say that the donuts aren't good, or why I think they were so good - maybe that's what exercise does to you? So I've been meaning to write a review about this spot since I started working in Old Town Pasadena. It's just north of the 210 and I really don't ever go here for the pastries or donuts, but the breakfast is pretty darn good! My coworkers and I generally order the bacon breakfast burrito as a group once a week! haha The lines can get pretty crazy and the wait is pretty long so we normally call the order in advance to avoid waiting. The hot sauce is kinda what makes the burrito so good. The lightest, freshest most delicious doughnuts. My favorites are, well, to think about. I haven't met a doughnut here that wasn't my favorite... Glazed, sugar,maple, chocolate... The coffee is perfect for my taste. A perfect blend. You need to ask for the liquid creamers. They are kept refrigerated behind the counter. I got the breakfast burrito (bacon), my bud got the bacon burger. We had both of them cut in half so we can semi experience both meals. The breakfast burrito was alright, Im not sure how it compares to Lucky Boy as far as taste and size. Needless to say it wasn't bad, and pretty cheap. Their burger... As someone mentioned earlier, the quality and and the amount of bacon they but on the burger is above average. Very tasty! Also this wasn't all that expensive either. The service was great, seeing as how the ladies bent the rules and made us a breakfast burrito in the evening! First of all, the woman behind the counter was very nice, so I'm assuming that my order was not taken by the same employee about whom so many other reviewers have complained. I'm not sure why everybody is raving about the donuts. I didn't think they were very good at all. I guess if you liked your donut a bit cake-y, then you might like the donuts here. I prefer my donuts to be a bit more dense, to have a little bit of chew to them. Like the donuts at Bob's at the Farmer's Market. Or Miss Donut on Robertson. Okay so I've been very bad this last week and have gone there every day. They're not the most friendly people all the time but DAMN their donuts are good so I don't care. Like beyond good. Unfortunately for my thighs, they don't make me sick like most donuts do. I could probably eat a whole box on my own. But I've been limiting myself to two a day. Ugh I'm so bad! These donuts are awesome! The fam and I have had them twice (various donuts) and they are great! The texture is spot on. They have a slightly crunchy exterior and a moist, soft, airy interior. By crunchy I'm talking about a good donut type of crunch not corn flakes style. maple ,bars are spectacular, my new favorite type of donut. chocolate cream filled are well filled, to the point where it oozes out when you take a bite. Sorry Gladstones, but Tastees is better, especially since they don't charge extra for bars! At $7.50 a dozen, yo can't beat'em... Best in Pasadena by far! The breakfast burrito hits the spot on "cold" Pasadena mornings and the meatless version is less than the advertised meat price. This makes me happy as I get annoyed with places that charge the same price for less stuff. In the mornings the line often reaches to the door and the wait for the food can be a bit long. However, many people come in for donuts and as a result of the high turnover the shelves are constantly being restocked with fresh delicious donuts. In the evenings/late afternoons the place is pretty empty and the kitchen is closed which makes me think the donuts are likely not so fresh. It's cash only. TASTEE seriously has the best donuts. I not had a chance to check out anything other than donuts but since we first hit this place up, now its becoming a tradition once a week to grab donuts with the kids on the way to school. It was a Sunday morning and my boyfriend did not want to wait in the long line at the near chain coffee shop. I had passed by a few times while going to visit my boyfriend and I never went in to Tastees. Well, I wanted coffee and although I was hesistant to try anything from there, I am happy I did. It's not a fancy place, but it does get packed with people ordering from the breakfaste menu. I had a small coffee, six donuts, and 1 apple fritter for less than 7 bucks. The price is fair. The coffee was good basic drip coffee. The apple fritter was crispy on the exterior and moist inside. The chocolate glaze on the other donuts was fresh and not hard like at other donut places. You will never be able to buy hot food from 4:30 to 7:30 because the lady at the counter and the kitchen cook close down the kitchen every day to have lunch from 4:30pm to 7:30pm.
