My brother and sister in law had their wedding rehearsal at Tastebuds tonight. We were treated to one of the best meals we have had in a long time. They shut the whole restaurant down for our group of about 30 people. When we walked in we saw the drink special sign that was personalized for the evening, the Olivia and Ethan Love Potion Special. That was so cute to see! We tried the drink special, it was very good. In the back they had a buffet set up for us; salad, brisket, Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, steamed veggies. It was all very good. They have the best brisket. The pit master even stopped at our table and talked shop with us for a few minutes, that was really cool. If you're in town or passing though this is a must stop place. The staff is very kind and the food is amazing. read more

Well to start I think they were having staffing issues. I had the pulled pork with pineapple with chips my husband had bourbon burger with fries. Mine SUCKED was supposed to be on pretzel bun and wasn't bun was so soggy was mush and was cold. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Husbands was good but also not on pretzel bun like was supposed to be but at least hot and not soggy. Should have just left when it took forever to get waited on. Stopped at Tastebuds Smokehouse for a early breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised. Being attached to a gas station I didn't know what to expect but the decor is rustic and nicely done. The staff was friendly and attentive. The breakfast menu offers good options both sweet and savory. The Elgin Sausage and homestyle potatoes were the stars for me but everything was delish! They smile their meats on site and I would love to come back to try the dinner options. Recommend a visit! read more

I would not recommend eating here! My wife was served a cold pulled pork sandwich and the pork in it was hard, burnt and fatty.Not even palatable. My chicken bacon ranch wrap contained very little chicken. I also overheard from the booth next to ours that the food was cold too!! It also took forever to get our food when there was no patrons. This place needs to step it up and I can't recommend anyone come here. read more

Gotta update. This place has gone way downhill over my last 3 visits over the summer. Poorly cooked food - eggs way overcooked, burnt hashbrowns, toast with no butter. Just bad. My two eggs, bacon and toast breakfast was $7.50 on the menu. Then I noticed the $1.75 added charge and asked - it was for an english muffin. I told her to just give me white toast then. Then the bill came back with the upcharge changed from $1.75 to $1. Not worth arguing about, but just an example of a place that can't get it together. While we were there, a guy came in to order 26 sandwiches for his crew. On a $300 order they charged him a to go charge of 20%. Outrageous. The pulled pork samiches came out to $14 each. You can get a hell of a lunch at La Cabana or Rail House or Windjammer for $14. I live just up the street and wonder why the place is always empty. Now I know. I had lunch at Tastebuds today and was horrified at the waitress. She was yelling at an elderly woman eating alone . Her order was wrong and when the elderly lady said something about it, the waitress yelled at her and finished with" I don't have to put up with people like you. It was very embarrassing and upsetting for the lady and for the other diners. Our lunches were not right either but we didn't want to get yelled at also. It's a shame when young people have no respect for older people. I won't be coming here ever again read more

Came in here to sample some barbecue and see if it was worth coming back. I got the 3-meat combo with pulled pork, brisquet, and the pork ribs. The first 2 were not too memorable and I was getting discourage, but the ribs were pretty good with some nice smoky flavor, juicy, and plenty of meat on the bone. Next time I'm here I'll just get the ribs and I'd recommend the same to anyone. Sides were not bad either. read more

We had breakfast here on a Saturday morning. I have to say the service was the slowest I've ever experienced. Since this was our first time here, I can't say if this is a usual occurrence or if they were experiencing a fluke staffing crisis, but there weren't many tables to serve and it took FOREVER to get coffee, then menus, then to order, to get our food, and then to get our check. I had the veggie skillet and it was very delicious. I only wish the service would gave been better. read more

Have gotten food poisoning not once, but twice from this place in the last year. Probably a place you would want to avoid if you're in town.

This place was beyond sucky. 1. The waitress sucked. 2. It took way to long to get out food. 3. Two people in our group got there food before our appitizer. 4. The food sucked butt. 5. Everything was burnt. 6. In the baked French onion soup it was just terrible. 7. The onion rings were onion strings. There wants even a lot of onions in it. 8. The cheese curds were so greasy and gross. 9. The kitty cocktails were ok but didn't even give us more cherries when we got a second one. It. 10. All the workers smelled like literal ciggerate smoke. 11. When I left I litterly felt like puking. Over all I litterly would just not recommend eating here like honestly. It just sucked so bad I wouldn't waste your time or money this place is just so bad that McDonalds could have done a better job. This place needs to go it just is so bad. Went in just for the french onion soup which used to be the best anywhere,ended up also ordering the cajun burger that was on special. My son and i joked that we probably wont be able to eat it being cajun expecting it to be spicy. Got our food and were highly disappointed. No flavor what so ever to the burger let alone any cajun hints to it. The french onion soup was the most dissapointing....Ive had canned soup that tastes better than what we were served. Service also left something to be desired altho I cant really pinpoint who was actually our waitress as we had 3 different ladies come to our table while we were there. Quick place but not somewhere you'd go out of your way to visit, when the staff isn't wasted or high you get pretty decent service.

Ordered a drink. Total was only $4.25. I told waitstaff to just round it up to six dollars. Instead of doing that, she doubled it according to my bank statement. This place is by far my favorite go to resturaunt in town. My family always knows I want to eat here. Their pulled pork is to die for. So good. And their mac n cheese is by far the best I have ever had. Always get the exact same thing, and never been dissapointed, Usually get a friendly waitress. Last time I went tho we didn't have a nice one. Young girl working on weekend, got order wrong, Finally got refll and ketchup right before we were about to leave, So fries were cold by the time i got ketchup for them. Not sure why they just can't leave ketchup on tables... Food great, and service is always amazing exccept for the one girl. If you value your tastebuds, you'll avoid this dump like the plague. The gravy was a, over-salted, gelatinous mass that quivered as you contemplated what sane cook would consider that mess edible. Went into there bathroom and horrific isn't the word. The smell of mold, and left over feces and urine. Cleaning chemicals underneath the sink with random brand names. You know they aren't being used. The stalls pulling away from the wall with crumbs from drywall on the vanity. I tried to look at myself in the mirror but the greasy covered mirror made me feel like I was in a fun house at the State Fair until I take a breath and quickly snap out of it.
