I now understand why they may have closed food was not how I remembered, I got a sampler, cooked ok but could have used some flavor. My wife and I had breakfast here while traveling. Let's face it, a restaurant review should mainly be about the food. And the food was excellent and cooked perfectly. The hash browns were glorious. They were thick so that they were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. My wife had the Fabulous Five with a side order of Turkey sausage. I had the Hardy Mans Combo. The Kielbasa (which they called smoked sausage) is the star of this dish. The restaurant was clean and for 8 in the morning not very busy. There were people at only two other booths. Which brings me to one of the reasons I didn't give 5 stars. The service was extremely slow considering there were only us and two other booths. The second reason for not giving 5 stars is that the coffee was absolutely horrible. For a place that has all day breakfast and famous for their pies they should also have good coffee. This stuff was as thick as mud and extremely strong, not in a good way. Otherwise an ok experience. read more

Food was good. The waitress was awesome but the hostess, she was rude. I stood waiting at the door to be seated about 10 minutes. The waitress running her ass off finally seated me while the hostess swept one small area on the carpet that could have waited for less customers around her. It wasn't bad enough to take 15 minutes to do it. Then she wandered around doing who knows what. Didn't look like much at all. She never said anything to anyone nor did she smile at anyone. I was told she is always like that and I said I would hate working there. They replied she is the reason so many quit. Small town most everyone knows everyone. So many nice people to pick from they pick this one to be an assistant manager. I said hi to her when she wandered by my table. My goal is to get people to smile. My wife likes going to Perkins, so we have become regulars there. The last few times we've gone, they were short staffed so it took a while before we saw our waitress. That's pretty understandable, especially since I worked the industry for 35 years. The service isn't all. The food has been lagging in quality, as it seems that the cooks don't really care about what they're doing. Tonight we showed up, to a little bit busy place. We were seated right away, but didn't see our server for 20+ minutes. We were already to order before she even showed up to see about drinks. I ordered a burger that was pretty raw, menu says they're cooked well done. Mine was more rare to med rare. My wife ordered breakfast with scrambled eggs. When her plate arrived, her eggs weren't scrambled. They had beat the eggs and poured them on the grill until they were cooked. Then folded them onto her plate. More of an omelet with nothing in it. Waited over a hour for our food and the restaurant was empty. One of our party got her food 15 minutes after the rest and the soup was the wrong kind. All she ordered was soup and a BLT. I Used the restroom before leaving and got locked in. The door would not unlock. 5 minutes of trying to get out I finally ripped the door open. There were a few customers in the restaurant but no employees visible. We waited five minutes then went to the back of the restaurant and used the restroom. Came out and still no employees. The service is so friendly here! The manager is really involved with the customers and you will often find him at the cashier's desk, welcoming them. It's easy to understand why Perkins is a favorite with locals. I don't think I have to mention that the desserts are delish. The menu is varied, and there are many options for special diets. we've been going here for years and always had good service a good food. last night I ordered the country hash? with the thick gravy...the gravy came out like milk..I refused it and she said they are making more. i waited while my friends ate their food, still no gravy so I asked for a percentage to be taken off my bill, the waitress came back and said 10%, sorry not enough, after continuing to wait I told our waitress (who apologized more than three times) that I no longer wanted my now cold food. i was charged $9 plus dollars for the onion rings ‍ when I asked the manager at the front desk why only 10% off she said I didn't say that she did and I wouldn't have even brought that out to you. as a manager she should never have blamed the waitress for anything..our waitress did a great job and was very professional and I believed what she said, she's not allowed to give me a percentage off only managers can. i do know that to be true. read more

Absolutely AWFUL. Severely understaffed. Waited for 45 minutes for our food which was NOT good at all...over cooked, old oil taste...yuck. There were at least 4 tables around us with dirty dishes that were not bussed for the entire hour + we were there. The restaurant was not busy but the 3 staff working there were not able to handle tables, bussing and hosting. The worst part? I noticed they were using the same rag to clean off the few tables they bussed in order to be able to seat incoming patrons. The rag was never sanitized in between table cleanings. Yuck! Just don't understand the situation with cleanliness and staff. They seem to be running around, working? We keep giving them one more chance. Not anymore. One on trip we heard the hostess/ waitress comment to another employee about someone who had left to go to the bank. She was busy and NEEDED help when she asked for help and where this person was the hostess commented to the server " she went to the bank, so you know what that means". The server replied I need help someone has to help. Then a lengthy conversation about how many tables she was supposed to be able to handle. We waited 45 minutes for our food and could here yelling coming from the kitchen. The cook seems to have a temper and shows it very loudly. Thought we would try it again. Again long wait, bad food, cold and just not worth paying for. This time the service was ok. But there is a serious problem in the kitchen and with management. There is never a manager around to explain the issue and never a clean bathroom or floors. I could see in towards the kitchen. Wow, I wish the health inspectors worked at night. I just don't get it. The food is simple, train your cooks. Service is simple, help them and be present on the floor so you can improve your business. Clean the place on a schedule or clean as you go. It's simple and fun when you care and get involved. I ran Restaurants for years and years. I would be embarrassed to be the manager in this small town. So many businesses are closed or closing. Get involved and retrain your kitchen and the manager especially and you'll go back to getting good reviews and improve your sales. Sad to see this once great company let this location suffer. The only reason for the 2 stars was the service. The food was horrible, the place is dirty and understaffed. But the server seemed to have a heart and try to smile even though there is no obvious team work or management involved in the place. Can't return, just too much of a waste of money and time. Someone should alert Patty the health inspector to visit more often. And corporate should be more involved. The Perkins name is not good around here and getting worse. read more

This used to be the favorite place for my friend and I have to have lunch. But it's really gone downhill. The carpeting is disgusting--big back stains the size of a dinner plate and dangerous tears in other areas. Service has gotten slower and tables sit with dirty dishes on them for a long time. Sat down at 6 pm and my girlfriend and I ordered breakfast. There was 12 other diners in the place. The food arrived at 6:35 and we started eating. My girlfriend had the French toast and found a hair embedded in the toast. That was it for her. I flagged the manager over and she apologized, and removed that meal from our bill. I got an omelet and ate most of it. In the entire time we were there, other than to take our order, our server never came to our table to see how our food was or ask if we needed anything. Not once. But he did bring us our bill. I told the manager this and again she apologized. I normally tip 30% minimum when I receive good service, which is the vast percentage of the time. After we sat down, it took another 10 minutes for the drinks. When the waitress asked if we were ready, I said "I am and so is he (our son)", then asked my spouse if he was and she walked away. Finally we ordered and it took 25 minutes for our salads and burger to be there. The salads were small and there was brown lettuce in them, the chicken was pre-packaged (not "freshly made" in the restaurant) and we left hungry. No refills were offered. While we were waiting for our check, another couple went up to the register and were obviously frustrated like us and demanded their check.
