The waitress (who might as well have been my great grandmother) looked at me with a look of shear confusion, said, "huh?" I looked at her, not quite understanding what was going on. She looked me up and down and asked, "are you from the big city?" We shared a laugh and I clarified -- "I'm sorry, medium-rare is fine." Just prior to ordering I spent some time at the bar waiting for our table. I ordered a glass of red wine and the bartender asked me which glass I wanted -- small, medium, or large. When I ordered a large I didn't think I was also in for a large pour, I thought he was asking me my preference on glassware. The pour amounted to about half a wine bottle, all of which cost about five bucks. This place is weird, and by weird, I mean awesome. Don't let the carpeting and complete lack of any tasteful decor whatsoever deter you. Both times I've ordered a tenderloin at the Whistle Stop it's been hands down exceptional.
