Been to several of this chain. In every case...every one the sandwich was terrible. From a BLT to a chicken Sammy called the Ghent the only thing that was consistent was the overwhelming dryness and massive amount of bread. No moisture, no flavor, nothing but dryness. They should give you a glass of water for dipping but I suspect if you ordered it you would get a packet of powdered water. The bread is made of old aspirin bottle cotton and Kodak camera silica gel packets.....really. I think they take all the moisture and pipe it to the local corner laundromat for injection in to that one dryer that runs forever but your clothes still come out damp. Won't be back to this location. read more

Crab cake sandwich...yummmmm it was so good! I love that it was mostly crab and not a bunch of filler. It had great flavor and was very moist. The cold lettuce and tomato was added a nice crunch and freshness to it. I squeezed a bit of lemon on it too! read more

The ingredients are wonderful, the prices are insanely high! I had the peters pick. For 8.99 you get whatever the sandwhich of the week is, the week I got mine is was Roast Beef, Horeseradish Cheddar Spread and Romaine on Brioch. You also get small chips and a regular drink(up to 1.99). The roast beef was good, the horseradish tasted like pimento cheese. I love tastes pimento cheese but its not what I expected when I read horseradish cheddar spread, there was absolutely no kick as normal horseradish spreads have and was too sweet, definitely a disappointment. The Brioche was good, but seemed hard, not stale, but like it was taken out of the freezer and microwaved to soften it. I think 8.99 is too expensive for this small lunch. For 9 dollars (over 10 once you add taxes) I expect a larger sandwich, maybe a cookie, just something else. Luckily I had $5 in rewards so it brought the price down to make it a little more affordable. On a side note, they need to figure out a different system for ordering and checking out, it would have been beneficial to put it on the opposite side near the gelato maybe. There are no true lines set up to order and check out and people tend to mash up in the front. I think it would have been better to be able to pay right after you order that what you are not having to go through a maze of people just to pay and pick up your order. read more

Nothing exceptional, but nothing to complain about either. Good sandwich, pleasant staff. It has a "all natural" market feel, pay at register and they bring you your sandwich. I had the 'Beach Club' which was pretty good, along with sweet potato chips (they have their own branded sodas and chips) paired with sweet tea and I believe my meal came out to about $15. read more

Great lunch spot! A wide variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. Healthy farm to table foods. Vegan, vegetarian, and carnivore fare. A surprisingly large selection of bottled wines, cheeses, crackers, nuts, and misc. foodstuff. Features Boylan sodas, and several flavors of unsweetened teas. Delicious food. Overall- it's easy to see why they have lasted so long and won so many awards. Caution- ample seating, but not comfortable seating. read more

Really delicious! I order the Ghent and I loved every bite of it! I also was very pleased with the interior of the restaurant! Would love to go back! read more

This is probably our favorite Taste location. The building is newer, clean, and in order. The staff is always smiling and ready to help make the dining experience great. They offer wines, cold foods, and plenty of other takeout, deli type items. We normally visit to dine in. They are dining menu is primarily sandwich-based, but has plenty of other offerings. They have their regular items, and seasonal. They have a great rewards program. We just had one of our items free on the last visit. If I had any complaint, it would not be about their food, rather about their building. Entry from either parking side is a little awkward. It appears that the builder made a mistake such that the parking elevation is higher than the restaurant floor level. This causes the person entering to have to walk downhill over stone to enter. They should correct this, but we love them anyway. read more

My review is based on my lunch...I did not shop while I was there. Nice place with friendly service but a little pricey. I had the blackened tuna salad wrap and it was very small and kind of bland. It was fresh but just lacked some "pop". Seems like a good place to pick up some wine, specialty food or gelato. I would suggest another place for lunch based on my experience. read more

Been here a few times and each time is a great experience. Food, service and atmosphere is awesome!

This place is a cute place to meet for a lunch date. I ordered a chicken sandwich and it wasn't horrible but it was a little dry. Because of covid, they don't give you plates, they wrap your food now. But you are welcome to dine in, which was nice! This place stays busy but they're pretty fast! read more

I have loved Taste for a long time now, and frequently ate at their shore dr location when I lived out that way... would give it 5 stars for my previous experiences. Today was my first visit to the harbor view location. I ordered online for carry out, and sorry to say was super disappointed when I got home to my highly anticipated turkey sandwich... for a $9 sandwich it was lacking the bulk that Taste usually has. The turkey was skimpy, and I had a whole 5 sprigs of arugula and 4 olives on it. Bummer! I paid extra for the "eggplant bacon" which had a bad smell and was not as I expected at all. Just super disappointed and wished I ate at the restaurant so it could have been reconciled there, but I got it to take home. Of note, they have pictures of the sandwiches on their menu which all have at least triple the amount of meat than was actually in my sandwich. Just feeling very ripped off tonight by what we actually got. read more

I have been eating Taste Unlimited for too many years to mention. It is pricey. $18 for sandwich, chips, drink, and a specialty brownie. I selected the smoked turkey with cranberry and sage stuffing on rosemary ciabatta from the refrigerated area. I wasn't in the mood to wait for my sandwich and ended up quite enjoying this grab-n-go option. It was tasty. I inquired about their tomato pie, which I know is seasonal. The manager rubbed me the wrong way. His tone and manner may have to be endured (but shouldn't be by) the teenagers he manages, but was not appropriate for his interaction with me. Be mindful when in a professional community. Or any community for that matter. I also don't care for their lack of Diet Coke. They have Coke Zero (yuck) and, if you order a fountain drink, they carry a fancy diet cola option that I don't care for, but this is a personal preference. The storefront itself is impressive. Modern, trendy, open, and busy. A welcome addition to N Suffolk. I gave four stars despite some of my preferences because, come on now, it's Taste Unlimited and it's such an asset for the area!!! read more

Really like the environment and the general mood of the place. The choices are great and seasonal. There are other products for sale in the store, drinks, chips, nuts, gelato, etc. I got the salald, it came with a baguette and the portion size of the salad was great. A good stop for a decent lunch and a sit down read more

While Taste is consistent in the quality of their meals, it's nice to see that each location has its own identity and with visually different characteristics. Like what you would expect in Suffolk, lots of land and open spaces, this particular location is just like Suffolk, very open and spacious. It's bright. It feels brand new. The lady ordered the Hilltop (turkey, provolone, and house dressing on French bread a she added avocado), which we ate on the road. It was a simple yet delicious sandwich. She even grabbed a few cookies for us that were soft and chewy. I did sample a couple of their gelato choices. Surprisingly, I didn't care for the strawberry cheesecake but the banana split was good. Staff was very friendly and engaging with us. They were certainly pleasing to talk to. Given all that Taste has to offer, I can see why Yelp Elites voted them as one of the top 10 places to eat in Hampton Roads. read more

Decided to give Taste a try after several friends raved about it. Great atmosphere and friendly staff were the only redeeming qualities. I ordered The Ghent and I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing sandwich. The sandwich was bone dry - I felt like I needed a glass of water after each bite to help me swallow - and the chicken breast was flavorless and over-cooked. The bread itself was not that bad, but the ratio of bread to sandwich contents was way too high. Save your $8 and make a sandwich at home. I promise you it'll have more "taste" than anything sold here. read more

So glad there is now a TASTE in the Suffolk area. I have been to this location a few times and every time I've gone it was great. The service was fast even though it was pretty busy(I went around 12:30). It's always fun to look around the store while you wait to see the local products they have to offer. Today, I got the Peter's Pick which is their weekly special. This special varies from week to week and comes with chips(any flavor of the small route 11 chips) and a drink for 8.99. Not a bad deal considering some of the sandwiches cost that much by themselves. I sampled the Tate's ginger zinger gluten free cookies. They were yummy so I ended up purchasing those as well. I always leave full and satisfied. read more

This place is outstanding! Great food, if albeit pricey, and the staff is very warm and welcoming. This if my first trip to a Taste and I signed up for a rewards because I know this is about to become a habit. I got a BLT on whole grain with spicy mustard and a Greek salad with a sweet tea. It was definitely enough in size and the salad was very fresh. Tea was excellent too! Looking forward to coming back again. read more

The food is always wonderful and fresh. The new location has the most uncomfortable metal chairs I have ever sat in. Terrible choice for chairs. I think its a great location since the movie theater is just across the street, perfect for a quick bite before a movie. read more

Got the Pork Sandwich thinking I would try something new but what a mistake. The sandwich had fairly good flavor but there wasn't much to it. And the Pork was flavorless with the consistency of Beef Jerky but harder. So difficult eat. Next time I'm hungry I won't try something new. On the other hand my daughter got the Beach Club and she said it was good. My advise to Taste, if the Pork isn't fork tender don't sell it and especially for close to $10.00 read more

I really hate writing this review... I have been a major fan of Taste, specifically this location, since we moved into the Riverfront area last March 2017. Recently, either their management or their food service has changed, and everything is different. The sandwiches are not a good value for your money. The bread is thin and is not the same as it has been, and truly the most bizarre thing is that they don't offer half sandwiches anymore... The size of the whole sandwich has shrunk but the cost is still the same. We went through a phase where we were eating here 1-2 times a week for the first nine months and the last three we've eaten out less... but yesterday my husband went in for take out and needless to say, we probably won't be back. At least not often Not a good experience. read more

I am so excited that a Taste opened here! I get to enjoy it every so often when I venture to Newport News but I crave the sandwiches and can't get there. Now I can!! I am a huge sandwich, salad, soup lover and this place is so fresh! From the sauces, dressings and breads to the freshest ingredients. I love the ambiance of this place! It's clean and organized. It's also a little market where you can buy containers of salads and snacks. Oh and wine for the winos. The customer service was wonderful too. Pleasant happy faces. Always a plus! I'll be back again and again! read more

The name "Taste" was very attractive so I decided to stop in and have a bite. Their wine selection was awesome and they sell a lot of gourmet sauces. When I looked at the menu I realized that they sell mostly sandwiches. Kind of shocked me but I had a sandwich and it was very good but for the price I have had better and bigger. They do a lot of stuff to the sandwich that probably went unnoticed with my savage eating tactics so I will try it again just to be sure. All and all its not a bad place to grab some wine and a snack. read more

I paid for a large gelato only to find out they shove a small cup inside the large one creating a false bottom of about an inch. Shame on you, you just lost a customer. Update: Taste contacted me and explained the error which I tested again this afternoon. Retraining received, correct size delivered. Service and gelato perfect, changing rating from 1 to 4 stars to reflect. Customer service was all over it. read more

Ordered a gluten free sandwich & they put it on a gluten free burger bun not a sandwich bread. Was dry. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich & all he could taste was too much vinegar in the meat. ON ANOTHER NOTE--- the YOUNG ladles that work there... ages between 16-18 yrs old were staring at my 44yr old husband turning around talking to each other about how hot he was & it made him VERY uncomfortable... they were coming around our table to get another look at him & staring at him while he was trying to eat & they were at the front counter... we had our 16yr old daughter with us also. Very unprofessional & pretty disgusting as my husband could of been there father or grandfather at that matter. read more

Everything is fresh and they have a great gourmet market with local products. The Brunswick Stew is fantastic and their bread is delicious. In addition to their salads, stew, and sandwiches they have a selection of local beer, their own brand of soda, and gelato. HOWEVER, they are close to outrageous in pricing. Recently they switched salad to go containers and it's significantly less food, but with the same price ($11). The price and smaller containers is why we only go once a week now. We used to be 2-3 times a week regulars. read more

Ordered the Brisket BBQ for takeout at the Harbor view location. Worst BBQ sandwich I have ever had. The beef was very tough with a strip of gristle and fat running through every piece. Could not bite it from the sandwich and even worse to chew. Bun had so much BBQ sauce on it that it was soggy and too mushy to hold. Ended up throwing all the meat and most of the bun in the trash. Gave Taste one star since the pimento cheese was good on the part of the bun I ended up eating. read more

Though food is excellent and well prepared, this food establishment's delivery service is very poor. I ended up picking up the food personally to bring it home after my dad's funeral that day. And because the Taste Manager refused to refund the deliver fee and convenience fee today, I have requested Navy Federal Credit Union to dispute the charges. I hope that Taste will learn from this lesson to improve on their delivery service especially under the Covid 19 pandemic. read more

Taste as I like to call it is superb. My food is carefully prepared to my expectations and always given special attention. The food here is so fresh and delicious. So far, everything I have eaten has been excellent. I am a member of the Clean Plate Club at Taste Unlimited. Not only is the food good, the atmosphere is great, the place is clean and bright and the staff is friendly and helpful. I am always delighted to come here. I have only one wish. I wish they were open a little longer in the evening; even if it was just until 8:00 pm. Ordered the club and Virginia sandwiches. My husband and I were not impressed. The Virginia was loaded with vinegar sauce that overpowered the sandwich and there just wasn't much to the club sandwich to brag about. Plus, my bread was placed backwards and I couldn't flip it because of the sauce on the bun. For the price of the food I expected better... Service: The young lady who helped my was very nice, but when she told the lady behind her what my order was she seemed to have an attitude. I didn't have a special order. They were out of the regular bread used on the Virginia sandwich and I was asked if I wanted a different kind of bread. The cashier suggested the French bread, so I said okay. I have no idea what the lady in the back had an issue with. Maybe she doesn't like French bread. Either way, I don't think I will return. read more

I love Taste and visit this location a few times a month, however the counter service has gradually become slower and less friendly. Today when I arrived to place my usual order of a half a classic build your own sandwich, which is the perfect size and price I found out they no longer sell half sandwiches. This is highly disappointing as a full sandwich is too much food and frankly overpriced in my opinion. My visits to Taste will most likely be less frequent! read more

I visit this town about once or twice a year for business and it is so nice not having to search for a quality restaurant. I actually look forward to the trip thanks to knowing about this place! The soup stays super warm forEVER so when I bring it back to my hotel I don't have to worry and the servings are more than enough. The sandwiches are usually really good with some interesting Peter's Pick varieties every week. I'm a little annoyed at them standing over you while you decide if you're going to tip the cashier using a credit card. Why should I tip again at these prices??
