The ingredients are wonderful, the prices are insanely high! I had the peters pick. For 8.99 you get whatever the sandwhich of the week is, the week I got mine is was Roast Beef, Horeseradish Cheddar Spread and Romaine on Brioch. You also get small chips and a regular drink(up to 1.99). The roast beef was good, the horseradish tasted like pimento cheese. I love tastes pimento cheese but its not what I expected when I read horseradish cheddar spread, there was absolutely no kick as normal horseradish spreads have and was too sweet, definitely a disappointment. The Brioche was good, but seemed hard, not stale, but like it was taken out of the freezer and microwaved to soften it. I think 8.99 is too expensive for this small lunch. For 9 dollars (over 10 once you add taxes) I expect a larger sandwich, maybe a cookie, just something else. Luckily I had $5 in rewards so it brought the price down to make it a little more affordable. On a side note, they need to figure out a different system for ordering and checking out, it would have been beneficial to put it on the opposite side near the gelato maybe. There are no true lines set up to order and check out and people tend to mash up in the front. I think it would have been better to be able to pay right after you order that what you are not having to go through a maze of people just to pay and pick up your order. read more

This is probably our favorite Taste location. The building is newer, clean, and in order. The staff is always smiling and ready to help make the dining experience great. They offer wines, cold foods, and plenty of other takeout, deli type items. We normally visit to dine in. They are dining menu is primarily sandwich-based, but has plenty of other offerings. They have their regular items, and seasonal. They have a great rewards program. We just had one of our items free on the last visit. If I had any complaint, it would not be about their food, rather about their building. Entry from either parking side is a little awkward. It appears that the builder made a mistake such that the parking elevation is higher than the restaurant floor level. This causes the person entering to have to walk downhill over stone to enter. They should correct this, but we love them anyway. read more

I have loved Taste for a long time now, and frequently ate at their shore dr location when I lived out that way... would give it 5 stars for my previous experiences. Today was my first visit to the harbor view location. I ordered online for carry out, and sorry to say was super disappointed when I got home to my highly anticipated turkey sandwich... for a $9 sandwich it was lacking the bulk that Taste usually has. The turkey was skimpy, and I had a whole 5 sprigs of arugula and 4 olives on it. Bummer! I paid extra for the "eggplant bacon" which had a bad smell and was not as I expected at all. Just super disappointed and wished I ate at the restaurant so it could have been reconciled there, but I got it to take home. Of note, they have pictures of the sandwiches on their menu which all have at least triple the amount of meat than was actually in my sandwich. I have been eating Taste Unlimited for too many years to mention. It is pricey. $18 for sandwich, chips, drink, and a specialty brownie. I selected the smoked turkey with cranberry and sage stuffing on rosemary ciabatta from the refrigerated area. I wasn't in the mood to wait for my sandwich and ended up quite enjoying this grab-n-go option. It was tasty. I inquired about their tomato pie, which I know is seasonal. The manager rubbed me the wrong way. His tone and manner may have to be endured (but shouldn't be by) the teenagers he manages, but was not appropriate for his interaction with me. Be mindful when in a professional community. Or any community for that matter. I also don't care for their lack of Diet Coke. They have Coke Zero (yuck) and, if you order a fountain drink, they carry a fancy diet cola option that I don't care for, but this is a personal preference. The storefront itself is impressive. Modern, trendy, open, and busy. A welcome addition to N Suffolk. Like what you would expect in Suffolk, lots of land and open spaces, this particular location is just like Suffolk, very open and spacious. It's bright. It feels brand new. The lady ordered the Hilltop (turkey, provolone, and house dressing on French bread a she added avocado), which we ate on the road. It was a simple yet delicious sandwich. She even grabbed a few cookies for us that were soft and chewy. I did sample a couple of their gelato choices. Surprisingly, I didn't care for the strawberry cheesecake but the banana split was good. Staff was very friendly and engaging with us. They were certainly pleasing to talk to. I ordered The Ghent and I don't think I've ever had a more disappointing sandwich. The sandwich was bone dry - I felt like I needed a glass of water after each bite to help me swallow - and the chicken breast was flavorless and over-cooked. The bread itself was not that bad, but the ratio of bread to sandwich contents was way too high. Save your $8 and make a sandwich at home. The service was fast even though it was pretty busy(I went around 12:30). It's always fun to look around the store while you wait to see the local products they have to offer. Today, I got the Peter's Pick which is their weekly special. This special varies from week to week and comes with chips(any flavor of the small route 11 chips) and a drink for 8.99. Got the Pork Sandwich thinking I would try something new but what a mistake. The sandwich had fairly good flavor but there wasn't much to it. And the Pork was flavorless with the consistency of Beef Jerky but harder. So difficult eat. Next time I'm hungry I won't try something new. I really hate writing this review... I have been a major fan of Taste, specifically this location, since we moved into the Riverfront area last March 2017. Recently, either their management or their food service has changed, and everything is different. The sandwiches are not a good value for your money. The bread is thin and is not the same as it has been, and truly the most bizarre thing is that they don't offer half sandwiches anymore... The size of the whole sandwich has shrunk but the cost is still the same. We went through a phase where we were eating here 1-2 times a week for the first nine months and the last three we've eaten out less... but yesterday my husband went in for take out and needless to say, we probably won't be back. I am so excited that a Taste opened here! I get to enjoy it every so often when I venture to Newport News but I crave the sandwiches and can't get there. Now I can!! Ordered the Brisket BBQ for takeout at the Harbor view location. Worst BBQ sandwich I have ever had. The beef was very tough with a strip of gristle and fat running through every piece. Could not bite it from the sandwich and even worse to chew. Bun had so much BBQ sauce on it that it was soggy and too mushy to hold. Ended up throwing all the meat and most of the bun in the trash. Everything is fresh and they have a great gourmet market with local products. The Brunswick Stew is fantastic and their bread is delicious. In addition to their salads, stew, and sandwiches they have a selection of local beer, their own brand of soda, and gelato. HOWEVER, they are close to outrageous in pricing. Recently they switched salad to go containers and it's significantly less food, but with the same price ($11). The price and smaller containers is why we only go once a week now. The Virginia was loaded with vinegar sauce that overpowered the sandwich and there just wasn't much to the club sandwich to brag about. I visit this town about once or twice a year for business and it is so nice not having to search for a quality restaurant. I actually look forward to the trip thanks to knowing about this place! I am a very picky eater, obsessed with health food and they are more than accommodating with endless gluten free options. The soup stays super warm forEVER so when I bring it back to my hotel I don't have to worry and the servings are more than enough. I'm a little annoyed at them standing over you while you decide if you're going to tip the cashier using a credit card. Why should I tip again at these prices??
