I stopped in to see if they had blue crabs, so I could have two dozen steamed/spiced for my drive back to Philly. I originally planned to stop at my favorite place in Rehoboth Beach, but when I called in advance to place the order, I learned the the shop was closed this week so their family could travel. Unfortunately, DeMaria's didn't have any blue claws, because according to the owner/manager, her brother didn't set the traps in Chesapeake Bay to catch them. Too bad, because I probably would have taken their entire catch. But, I learned on my trip home that the three other crab shacks I stopped at on Delmarva were all closed on Monday, if not Tuesday as well. My crab karma just wasn't working. I accepted my fate with a smile, knowing both I and those beautiful Blues would live to enjoy another day.

Grapefruit and cherry limeade were the winners. The pineapple was awful. Our table ended up right by the water with a view of the boats, and our waitress was so helpful walking us through the menu, including the fact that lumpia is a local specialty here thanks to the area's Filipino population, which I did not know. We got oysters and three other appetizers, then split one entree between every two people since the portions are enormous. The fried shrimp was the unanimous favorite, and the spinach crab dip, lumpia, blackened crab cake (almost everyone ordered it), potato salad, and hushpuppies were all excellent. All of that, plus roughly two cocktails a person and tip, came to about $50 each, which felt like quite the steal for high quality seafood! Big attached parking lot, docks if you're coming in by boat, and the market sells shirts, hats, fresh crab meat, take-home versions of the appetizers, and fishing basics.
