This establishment sells meat already packaged not sure if you can request a cut? I didn't see any glass market meat coolers that you can pick your meat and make the cut request. It was clean and organized but sparse on items. I purchase county sage sausage I cooked the next day they were pretty good. Jen is long gone but there's enough to get items in a pinch it would not be a go to stop. read more

If I could give this place zero stars? I would. The meat selection is meager and the cuts look sloppy. I knew when I pulled in and saw no cars in the parking lot that this place might have issues. Still gave them a chance. Walked in and there wasn't a human in sight. No customers, no workers, started to wonder if they were actually closed. Wandered around and roughly 10 minutes later, a woman showed up. I don't want to assume but considering that they have kimchi, I'd say she was Korean. This woman was a nightmare. She was rude, demeaning, abrasive. Absolutely dreadful! I told her the kind of speciality meat we were seeking and she proceeded to call it "trash meat". Thanks for insulting an entire culture! Over and over she called it trash meat (a blood sausage) and how we could make it ourselves and how it was illegal to make it. What?!?! Then she said "You fat, you don't need trash meat!! You need good meat!" I couldn't decide if I wanted to slap her or tell her to go **** herself.... In the interest of being an actual adult with actual manners and decorum, we decided to walk out instead. read more

I told my husband about this spot while visiting Smithfield for the day last weekend and he was super excited to stop by on our way back home for some jerky. I went inside with him to have a browse and they had some nice selection of meats - they should it's a butcher shop lol - as well as some various ingredients for BBQ and chili like beans, onions, mass quantities of vinegar and more. It's small inside but def large enough for what they need with a good selection of meats and a few other sundries. They had some Virginia roasted peanuts available as well jerky by the front. I wanted to like this place. When we moved to Virginia, it was at the top of so many locals, "must try" suggestions. But that's not the case. The pricing was high. But, if you're getting an exceptional product, you let it go. Again, this is not the case. We tried the sausage, country bacon, and country ham. No one liked the taste of the sausage, and, for the first time, EVER bacon was left on the table after breakfast. But then we get to the ham. It was SO SALTY it was inedible, even after changing the water twice. If the saltiness wasn't bad enough, it was the single toughest piece of meat I've ever experienced! That pig must have ruled the barn cause it was tough off the charts. After slicing, we tried to boil it again with some brown sugar, hoping it would cut the sugar and tenderize, which it did a bit for the saltiness. But it was still tough to chew. We finally resorted to a food processor and thought we'd try ham salad (because for what we paid, we were not just throwing it away). With a lot of doctoring, it's at least edible, but NEVER AGAIN! Don't waste your time. Go to Costco. read more

I used to shop here regularly trying to support local business. Jeb been abrupt and occasionally rude, but I chalked it up to a long business day. I was driving by in the morning and noticed their large neon light up sign said open and it was lit, but I also saw a sign on the door that said the hour they opened was nine but it appears old.The door was unlocked, so I popped my head in to ask, and he screamed at me like I had my hand in the till that WE ARE CLOSED! I have not been back since and I'm sure he probably doesn't care, but I'm still trying to decide whether to go back again. Jeb's is an old fashioned meat market and so much more. Family owned and operated Jeb's is a real gem. Jeb (yes, he is a real person) is a whole vibe. The man knows his meats and knows his customers. Jeb's is NOT a grocery store. Here you will find FRESH meat and a few other items both fresh and frozen. If you have big dogs or are into bone broth Jeb's is the place for you. If you listen closely enough you can hear your steak mooing right there in the refrigerators. Nothing ever looks old or past it's prime. All meats are ground fresh in store with absolutely no additives. The sausages at Jeb's are made in store with no funky additives just spices and meat. Jeb himself is the real deal a real butcher with personality and charm. Come for the meat but stay for Jeb he is a wonderfully charming character. If you like Kimchee this is THE place to get it. Nothing like homemade/made with love flavor. For several months I have been enjoying the kimchee from Jeb's. I have to now finally let the cat out of the bag. Jebs is a great place to get meat worth putting on your table. He knows his cuts and the secrets to impart to you so you succeed brilliantly with your choices. I have purchased beef ribs, standing crown roast, short ribs and a gorgeous brisket. All of superior quality. Also, I highly recommend his corned beef brisket. It is not available year round. If you are reading this near St. Patty's day you may be in luck! You do not cook it the same way you do the months old corned beef you get from the big box stores. Check with Jeb on what to do. Do yourself a favor and check it out. If you are a Korean aficionado you will find that side of the house fulfilling as well. read more

It's a fairly small meat market with a modest selection to choose from but the meat is very good quality. Pork prices are reasonable but the beef prices seem high to me. Good sausage, BBQ, pimento cheese, pork belly, etc. Jeb is extremely knowledgeable about quality of meats, microbes in slaughterhouses, the best farms for meat, etc. and he has YouTube videos you can watch. I like going there occasionally for good meat when I can't make it to Central Meats. Last visit I got 2 nice New York Strips for $28 and some pork chops and sausage. I can't believe I've never reviewed this amazing butcher shop. It's completely out of the way for me, but absolutely worth the drive. Prices are fair for the quality. I've bought both fresh and processed meats, and have been completely happy. The various sausages are well seasoned and a little heavy on the pepper. The smoked products, whether sausage or pulled pork, are just the right level of smoky. Beware- the breakfast sausage is absolutely addictive. It's coarse ground, and not too fatty. The smoked sausage is finer ground, and great on their own, or in a dish. Another thing that sets this shop apart is the variety of Korean foods available. I've gotten excellent fresh kimchi, and wonderful bulgogi meat. I never know what I'll find, but I know I'll be happy. read more

This place is nothing more than a pork repackaging place. Their selection was worse than some one stop sign hometown markets. No big deal that the selection is small, but when you ask one of the managers or owners, not sure which she was, if they have a specific cut of meat, in this case skirt or flank steak, she would mediate takes an attitude and becomes incoherent and rude and starts saying "I'm sick of all you idiots coming in here asking for those cuts, this isn't Texas" and other comments of the like. Don't waste your time here. Food lion and Kroger are the same of not less of drive for better selection and better customer service. Avoid this place at all costs IMO. read more

Jeb's the butcher i give this place outstanding in smoked meats. A-1 in service. Best wholed cut up chickens. Staff is friendly and helpful if you don't see it ask. I have been purchasing from Butcher Jeb for Christmas and Thanksgiving products hams and turkeys. Smoked neck bones that are out of this world in favoring my beans and greens. So I would say stop by give them a chance you wo t buy your smoked meat any where else. read more

They were truly wonderful, tender & flavorful. Ground beef, $5.99 lb. Great flavor. Sausage links. Great flavor, but spicy. I don't like spicy, but hub does. $12 for 8. Chicken..eh, it's chicken. $4. Ground sausage, too spicy to eat. Had to throw away. $12. We'll return for steaks & ground beef. Plenty of parking! Bring your cooler! Cashier is Korean. MINORITIES - stay away!!! I walked in on a Sunday because I phoned and inquired if they because they had a favorite delicacy of mine (oxtails), which they did. So, I arrived, grabbed the oxtails, and proceeded to look around to determine if there was anything else I wanted. Another favorite and hard-to-find meat item (livermush) came to mind. So, I asked the associate (Asian lady, 60s, about 5 ft) if she had any livermush. She began to beret me regarding "black folks" having colon cancer because we eat so much "organ meat". So, I politely asked her if she knew why we ate so much "organ meat". She said no. I began to explain to her the origins of the tradition stemming from slave days and rejected cuts of meat which we created delicacies from and so on when I was INTERRUPTED by her yelling about I "don't know nothing about slavery" and that she, being a former slave herself did. As she was screaming, I politely said, ma'am, no thank you. And goodbye. I know nothing of the owners of this establishment but I hope that this lady is not a representation of them and that she will be removed quickly from this business! read more

I travel from western Suffolk for their meat. Their steaks are perfect, their chicken is far and above anything you will find in the grocery store! The pieces are smaller but super juicy with fantastic flavor. Their bacon and sausage are delicious. The BBQ and cherry smoked ham, superb. I make a trip once a month and stock up. It is a no brainer to go to Jebs. They are friendly and the food is delicious. Try to get there while they are selling their fresh jerky. OMG!!!! There is nothing about this store I don't love! RUDE RUDE RUDE! I went in there yesterday looking for pork shoulder as I was going to make pulled pork, enough to freeze some, since meat is hard to find right now due to Covid. They had the pork shoulder, but in huge portions/sizes. They had them in giant two packs around about 25-40lbs or one big one 30-40lbs. I asked if I could buy half or if one could be cut down as I didn't need nor have the space to store that much meat! The Korean wife got very rude and said no! I explained to her that I live in a small apartment, I don't even have a refrigerator that can hold that much pork. She still said no, it's sold as is! I told her straight up that a real butcher would cut the meat, that they are not real so called"Butchers". As I walked out I also said I will spend my money else where! THESE PEOPLE ARE NOT REAL BITCHERS, BECAUSE IF THEY WERE, THEY WOULD NOT SELL BIG GIANT PIECES OF MEAT AS IS! NEVER AGAIN! Keep this up and you will no longer have a business! read more

I was actually looking at their page because I was craving barbecue. I was active duty in Portsmouth naval hospital then Norfolk naval base. My residence at the time was in Hampton, Va until 2014. Now 2021 this place made such an impression how the butcher was kind to me in my uniform having me try different samples of stuff he was working on. Man I was kid at a candy shop buying so much stuff. This place is incredible their daughter makes the upmost appetizing cheesecake that most times they are sold out. Incredible place. I miss it so much I was looking to see if I could order something and actually have it shipped to San Antonio. I got some sort of sausage he made I forgot the name but that was good too. They are definitely inventive in food and build flavors. My last 4 years active duty was uplifted because how kind they were and how customer friendly they all were.
