Fantastic local seafood! It was our only night in town and our last night in Italy with an early Rome departure and what a gem. Casual relaxed environment with a fun waiter with great sense of humor. We got my 76 year old dad to step out of his comfort zone and enjoy the seafood starter platter with us. I wish we would have asked for a dipping sauce, though so do. There was fresh tuna tartare, mussels, raw sea bass, and a variety of huge local shrimp. Also, ordered a caprese salad which was tasty. Shared a fish pasta for primo then local fish which was superb. We drank a few few bottles of lovely local white wine (25 Euros bottle). Will definitely return when near Rome. The manager of our hotel shared that people come specifically to the area to eat seafood and we agree! read more

What a lovely restaurant right on Main Street along the canal. The menu offered a nice selection of food and the waitress was able to customize our orders based on our requests. The restaurant was somewhat quiet when we first arrived however it totally filled up while we were there. The homemade pasta with clam sauce was perfectly seasoned and the small manila clams / cockles were delicious! My cousin thoroughly enjoyed her spaghetti with fresh tomatoes. After we left the restaurant we walked by many other restaurants on that street and none of them were as crowded as the Tarumbo. If you're in the neighborhood you should definitely check it out. read more

We were in Fiumicino for one night before embarking on a cruise liner from Citiviavecchia. We flew into FCO in the morning and then checked into Hotel Tiber later that afternoon. Tarumbo was within walking distance of our hotel and along the canal, so we stumbled upon it while exploring the city on foot that evening. We had a delicious dinner - one of the best pizzas we'd ever had, and I had a nice seafood dish. Also, big plus, it's possible to eat vegetarian here so that was a relief for me traveling abroad with my husband. We ate outside and had great views. Our waiter was nice, too. Lovely little restaurant by the canal. I had the cod with leeks and black olives. My PC ordered grilled fresh fish and we split a Quattro formigio ( 4 cheese) pizza. Our service was wonderful and the prices were reasonable. We loved having our main (only) meal of the day at 4:00 pm - so many places don't open until later. They also played a great mix of music - probably from the 80's & 90's. Overall, a nice quiet little place to enjoy a great fresh seafood & Italian meal. read more

I will start by saying I took two stars off for the service as it was just that bad. And this is not the first time American who's not used to European restaurants, I travel often and am used to the difference between servers who work for tips and those who don't. This was a larger issue with the waitress but I won't bog the entire review down with my gripe session about why she was so bad. Tarumbo is right on the canal which is a surprisingly enjoyable area when walking from up the street. There are a few restaurants along that canal and it is a nice area during the evening. This restaurant had a good outdoor seating area, my only real complaint with it was that the tables are too short for tall people, I could not fit my legs under the table at all so had to sit further away, which I don't prefer. I also liked the inside esthetic, I thought it was a good looking restaurant. For my dinner I had the carbonara. It was good, nothing overly great or bad about it, it was a solid dish in the list of places where I've had carbonara. Our table shared the focaccia, it was a flatbread, so a little different than I was expecting but it was nice and the flavors were fantastic on it. I didn't see it on the menu so I wasn't sure if it was free or not, it isn't, but it was worth the 4 euro we paid for it. My family and I shared two of their desserts; a profiterole and a chocolate dome with hazelnuts I believe, they were both outstanding. This restaurant has a large variety of desserts that I presume they order as they are real patisserie quality and are definitely worth getting. read more

We can't say enough good things about this little place. Yes, it was pizza pasta and seafood right next to the street and all of the boats bringing in their Fresh Catch of the Day. Hospitality was marvelous. Presentation was impeccable. We took a taxi over here from the hotel next door to the airport. We think you will love this place too. read more

Our English speaking waiter was a pleasant old fellow who made good recommendations for dinner. The meal was pleasant and the the restaurant was one of only a tiny handful that opened early enough for my American dinner hour sensitivities (rather than open an seven pm). Being by the water was nice and the whole area is charming. My wife and daughter enjoyed the squid fritters and I had the beef carpaccio but the belle of the ball was the seafood pasta with a complicated Italian name I've forgotten already. I tried it for dinner with my family a few nights ago. It was "ok." I had a pizza which was pretty well undercooked (same for my daughter's pizza). My son's fried shrimp and calamari was really good according to him. It's a little pricey, even without drinks. I probably wouldn't go there again, but it worked for what I needed. read more

I ordered the sea bass but they were out, so they substituted for another fresh catch. It was amazing. I've been eating fish all week on the Amalfi coast and this was the best. After 16 days of gluttony (we began in Rome, flew to Athens and cruised back to Rome) we were just looking for a lighter meal to enjoy as we prepared for our flight home. We were staying at an airport hotel and wanted something different than hotel food. We cabbed into Fiumicino and since it was pretty hot, looked for a place that had indoor seating with air conditioning. 20 degrees cooler and it would have been delightful to sit outside. We came across Tarumbo as we strolled Via della Torre Clementina. We ordered a couple different pizzas, a salad and a mozzarella-ham appetizer. All were very good and enough for our party of 4 to share. Wine and beer completed our simple but really good meal. Service was great and prices were reasonable. A pretty good combination in my book. read more

The best dinner we had in Rome. Ask them to prepare something special for you and let them do the work. This may have been the best fresh fish dinner I ever had. If you are staying near the Rome Airport, take a 10 minute cab and go there. You will be happy you did. Pace e bene. read more

We were excited to eat here based on all the positive reviews, but our meal was very disappointing . The pizza was undercooked and very soggy, so all we ate was the crust. The fish was fine, but definitely not worth the price. The bruschetta was good as was the garlic bread. Overall it was a very expensive,mediocre at best, meal. read more

Terrible customer service! I ordered a pasta dish I did not care for, so I asked for pomodoro sauce and the waitress said "no". I returned the dish and asked for a different pasta dish. Then they charged me for two pasta dishes and insisted we pay for a dish I did not eat. Our trip to Italy has been amazing and all the Italian people have been so kind to us, until now. It was an amazing experience! Out best meal in Italy and Greece! We took a Mediterranean cruise and eat at all ports. But in our way out we found this gem. The pasta, tiramisu and fish dishes were amazing! I took my whole family of 8 here for lunch and we were all amazed and extremely satisfied by the taste and the quality of the food. The teenagers pizza was the best we had, and the pastas.... I really can't say enough.. and we found a new great wine for us to order in the US! read more

Tarumbo was walking distance to the hotel where we stayed before flying back to the US from Rome. Starving, we found this charming restaurant that served both pizza and seafood. Since we hadn't eaten any authentic Italian pizza while in Italy we decided to give it a try. We certainly weren't disappointed. The pizza was delicious. Crispy crust, fresh toppings and the pizza was huge. Our server spoke passable English and she was friendly and efficient. My wife and I were both glad that we chose to dine at Tarumbo. read more

This restaurant is in a nice location, and seating is available both inside and outside. It's a pleasant place to be if you enjoy watching the passers-by. Even by Italian standards, our service was excruciatingly slow (but friendly), and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to when dishes were delivered, so all three of us had a chance to watch others eat while we sat with nothing in front of us. I believe they forgot an appetizer and scrambled when we asked about it. We watched other parties come and go as we sat and waited. Gnocchi and spaghetti with clams was fine, fried calamari had little flavor, caprese salad was adequate, but the pizza and deserts were good, as was the house red wine. There are many restaurants in the immediate area, and based on food and service, I would not likely return. read more

My family and I had just gotten here after a day of traveling and having a flight out the next morning, and we were in desperate need of some food. We were worried our options weren't going to be good but then we stumbled upon this restaurant and it greatly exceeded our expectations, ending up being one of our favorite meals of our two week trip! As usual, we used yelp to find the best restaurant in the area. We were spending the day near the Rome airport and came across this gem on the river. Absolutely fantastic service, fresh food at great prices. They had just brought in the fresh swordfish that had been caught that morning, sliced us a steak and grilled it for us while we waited. After reading the reviews we were excited to eat our last dinner of our vacation here. Unfortunately the quality of the food was disappointing. My wife had risotto which had very little taste and I had a pasta with fish ragu which was alright except I didn't taste any fish which was the whole idea. We had some kind of octopus as an appetizer which was just ok. read more

POOR SERVICE: The waiter only came twice to our table: once to take our order, and once to give us our food. People came in after us and were attended to with water and we never got any. We waited 10 min for anyone to come to our table to ask us what we want/if we want food. I'm disappointed because we felt uncomfortable with the entire experience. read more

We stayed in Fiumicino for the night to make it easier to make our morning flight back to the US the following morning. We decided to walk along the Main Street and see if any restaurants seemed ok, and we ended up stopping in Tarumbò. Needless to say, we were all VERY pleased with our experience. The food is EXTREMELY fresh and well made, and the prices are certainly reasonable. We haven't been to any other restaurants in Fiumicino, but just know that this place is a pleasant surprise. This food is so amazing. This is what you expect the pizza and pasta and meats to taste like. This is just like I remember good Italian food from Italy tasting like. I cook just this at my home and I love this. We ordered pizza and grilled sausage as well as a pasta with basic tomato sauce. I can't believe we had to wait for the last day of our trip to get such great food. We visited the Ostia Antica ruins first. Then here now to enjoy the sunset. read more

This is a great restaurant right on the riverfront. We went there for lunch on the recommendation of our hotel and happened to find our way back for dinner. We shared a pizza for lunch that had amazing crust (maybe the best I've had in Italy). For dinner, really fresh seafood and cod. Great reasonable wine options and great service.
