I want to be fair and balanced in sharing my experience. My first purchase from Tarrytown Honda was genuinely great -- smooth process, professional staff, and overall a positive experience. That's why I felt confident returning for a second vehicle and I even recommended and sent them clients that I will not be sending back ! Unfortunately, my second purchase, a 2018 Honda Civic Type R, was a completely different experience. After purchasing the vehicle, I later learned -- through my own independent research and information shared publicly online -- that the car had previously been a stolen recovery. This information was not disclosed to me at the time of sale, and I only became aware of it after the purchase. Once this came to light, the situation became stressful and disappointing, especially given how important transparency is when buying a performance vehicle. While the matter was eventually resolved, the overall experience left me feeling that critical information had been missed or not clearly communicated upfront. I'm sharing this so future buyers take the extra step to independently verify vehicle history before purchasing. I don't trust their business practices. 1) Scheduled an oil change, then realized I'd done it only 3000 miles ago, which they should have pointed out when they brought my records up for the appointment. 2) Gave me a reasonable price on a replacement tire for one with a bubble. But wouldn't give me the mounting & balancing cost. Tried to get me to replace BOTH front tires citing tread wear, but there's only 17,000 miles on them, and they rotated all 4 with both previous oil changes, so that was questionable. 3) The bill for changing one tire was $217! The tire was only $145 of that (see photo). There was one blatantly dubious charge for $3.95 which they couldn't defend and took off. Another $3.50 that was unexplained. And they charged me $2 for a wheel weight, which anywhere else would be included in the installation charge. They clearly expect you won't notice all these little extra charges, which multiplied by all their customers adds up to extra profit. So no, I don't trust them and will look elsewhere. BTW - Mavis charges 39.99 to mount & install, + 2.50 NYS fee, + tax 3.56 = $46.05. vs. $72 at Tarrytown Honda. read more

I brought my car in to fix my second recall issue in the first year owning my Honda. Booked my annual NYS inspection as well. They fixed the recall, but couldn't be bothered with the inspection because "a machine was broken." They still called to tell me the car was ready and didn't learn about the non-inspection until arrival to pick-up the car. I will never return to Tarrytown Honda, and I strongly encourage anyone reading this to take their business elsewhere. This dealership has demonstrated a clear pattern of dishonesty, performing unauthorized work, and intimidating customer pushback. Most recently, they completed repairs that were unnecessary and had previously been addressed by a trusted service center. When I objected in person at the dealership and asked for the charges to be removed, I was told the work was "almost done" and there was nothing they could do. I attempted to resolve the issue through customer service after my initial appointment and provided documentation to back up my claims, only be told it was insufficient. After repeated frustration, I disputed the charge with my credit card company and was credited back the funds after the card issuer reviewed the same supplemental documentation I provided the office manager. Instead of acknowledging their mistake or attempting any reasonable resolution, the dealership sent me a threatening letter demanding payment and warning legal action, with no prior outreach. That response speaks volumes. Unfortunetly this was not my first negative experience at Tarrytown Honda. A few years earlier, I brought my car in for a simple windshielf wiper issue and was told I had to leave my car overnight because they needed to order a part. When I objected and insisted on driving my car home, the truth came out- they had accidentally broken my windshield. Instead of being honest with their customer, they lied and attemoted to cover their error by claiming the part needed to be ordered while they waited for the glue to dry on the newly instated windshield. This is not just poor customer service, it is unethical. Lying to hide damages and resorting to legal threats instead of communicating with their customers show a complete lack of integrity and flawed business structure. If you value honesty, transparency or basic respect, do not trust Tarrytown Honda with your vehicle, money or time. read more

Finally it seems as though this dealer has finally turned its service department around. In the last 2 visits, with 2 different service managers, the experience was pleasant and the work was done as stated. Service manager, William, explained everything thoroughly including the costs and the wait was not too long. On a previous visit months ago, another service manager who is no longer there, fixed a flat tire. It turns out that when I brought it in the day before, they broke a valve on the tire. They took me right away and had it fixed in less than 45 minutes at no cost! Shock. He was also pleasant to work with and I appreciated his honesty. This dealership sold me a used car with a faulty transmission. The transmission was making an odd noise when I bought it and they said they just replaced the transmission fluid and the noise will go away in a few days. It did not. The transmission failed two years later. They refused to take the car in for repair although they sold me extended warranty that was supposed to be used there. This is a long term review. 3 years ago (2020), just days before the NY Covid lockdown, my wife's vehicle lease (another brand) is about to expire and she prefers a CRV EXL as her next chariot. So the usual me will shop around, do the numbers for bank rates, research or the car's fair market value, incentives, rebates, etc and negotiate. This dealership accepted all the terms I presented thru email, online and phone with the specific stock number of the brand new vehicle as per their inventory. Later on when I dropped by their office, they notified me that they made a mistake on the price and they were referring to EX and not EXL. The difference between the two trims were around $2,400. So, I pressed on the honor the price they gave me and later met somewhere in the middle. But.... Sales dept. is just the first part of the negotiation. The second part is the F&I manager and the day I was about to pickup the car is the same day the lockdown of NYC. Sitting down in her office, she sneakily changed the contract terms from 36 months to 39 months I pointed that out... and I believe this has something to do to recoup their lost/mistake on the 1st part of negotiation. Not sure if this is their norm. Due to pandemic and its uncertainty, I accepted their bait and switch terms but my trust with this dealership goes out of the window. I always brought the car to another dealership for its maintenance needs and recently bought it out from lease due to its higher used car market value. By the way, the car is great to drive, to own and to maintain. Honda make great cars... they just need to review their dealership network performance though. I would like to give this a low one star but to be fair, the sales person was nice and the handover of the vehicle and trade-in was at my expectation. Our salesman was Rashaun, assisted by the sales manager Darren. Both were very professional, and helpful in working with us for the best possible deal. I went to several used car dealerships only to discover the hidden costs and fees associated with advertised Internet sales. For example, $2500 dealer fee, or a salesman trying to push financing on a car when you want to pay cash. My advice is to save yourself some time and go to Tarrytown Honda. STAY AWAY! First i went in for oil change and tire rotation. When they found out it was complimentary per my purchase agreement, they rushed me out so fast I was suspicious. Plus refused to give me a receipt. I battled for 6 weeks to get one, only receiving one when I said that a suspicious mind would think they were hesitant to document work not done. rWent in to have tire pressure checked due to dash alert. Was told I needed 2 tires. Due to out of state trip next day, I could not verify with my mechanic, so agreed. They asked if they should do state inspection and I said ok. Then they said it wouldn't pass bc I needed brakes, which i refused. When i paid for tires i saw it HAD passed inspection. Receipt stated I refused brakes, spark plugs battery and there was an oil leak. Went to my mechanic who said I needed none of that, but that I could do with an oil change bc it looked like it had been more than a year. So I guess I was right that they had not done my "complimentary" oil change. And I suspect I did not need the two new tires, either. I have been attempting to respond to a Steering Recall for my 2023 CRV for months. I have made numerous calls to Tarrytown Honda. I am repeatedly told someone will call me back. No one ever calls. Last month I received a letter from Honda asking why I have not dealt with the recall. I filed a complaint with the National Office, they called me 3 weeks ago and told me someone from Tarrytown Honda would call to schedule an appointment, NO CALLS. When I have had my car serviced there in the past staff have asked me to rate them high as apparently Tarrytown Honda pays close attention to evaluations. Terrible customer service. I went in for a $60 part replacement plus maybe 2 hours labor tops. The technician ran it through a computer which suggested $1200 in parts plus two hours labor. I said no thanks and when the technician came out with my key I questioned what he did to come up with the $1200 in parts. The office manager came out from behind the counter and accused me of disrespecting the technician. I told him I was not and simply knew what needed to be replaced and office manager tells me, "I should go do it myself." Changing an Air actuator under a dashboard was a job I was willing to pay for. But not to be gouged by a dealership fabricating problems to make inflate their income. Go elsewhere! Unfortunately my service experience at Tarrytown Honda was a complete waste of time and money. After explaining the same issue to Mike C. 3-4 times (which required multiple attempts as he didn't return some of my calls) it became very clear that he either wasn't capable of understanding the issue, or based on his tone, simply did not care in the least. In the end I had to pay for "diagnostics" to pull a check engine light code that I provided before dropping off the car. As if that wasn't enough, the tool I used to pull the code was lost / stolen while the car was there, and they seemed to have parked it under a pack of seagulls as it was covered in bird poop when returned. Unfortunately, the documents customers must sign when they drop off their vehicles make clear Tarrytown Honda is not responsible for fixing your car, or any damage / theft that happens while it is in their care. After wasting 4 days waiting on my car, I paid the bill, headed to the car wash, and home in a worse situation than I had arrived (the code information was cleared so I couldn't take it to another Honda shop). This was perhaps the worst experience I have ever had at a mechanic, and certainly a sad day for the Honda brand / dealerships. read more

My story begins Ebony who was very helpful and nice at Tarrytown Honda. After speaking to her about the 2014 Toyota Camry that was for sale online, she stated she would be more than happy to assist but she had to pass me along to the used car manager , that's when my personal nightmare began the 23rd day August. i informed the used sales manager that I would be driving 90 min to test drive so please make sure the car was ready to go if I liked it as to not waste my time and prevent a 2nd trip. Once I got into the vehicle to test drive I turned the vehicle on and the AC was blowing hot air . I spent 3 hrs waiting to see if it was a quick fix prior to leaving. I left without the car as Tom promised to get the AC fixed. One month later with minimal communication from Tom the used car mgr, and getting frustrated I contacted the owner and miraculously the car was delivered on sept 20th. Tom mentioned I might have trouble linking a phone up which wasn't a concern of mine but upon delivery after 24 hrs I realised nothing on the touch screen works and there seems to be some type of wheel bearing or grinding sound , I will have my mechanic look at it ..thanks againTom for your deceit and lack of truthfulness after telling me multiple times that you are a "man of your word."Take this for what its worth don't be played like a fool like I was .Beware -I would not recommend Tarrytown Honda to anyone . Dropped the car off over a week ago to replace one tire. Get a thousand calls about how I need another tire replaced maybe all 4 , need fluid replaced and a bulb. Charged 1500 for 2 tires, 3 fluid changes and a bulb. Best part of this. I pick the car up and drive it home and the entire dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree. I feel like they ripped me off since I'm a woman which I'm almost used to at this point but at least make it convenient. Back here trying to get all the lights turned off. This place is a scam and a hassle. Stick to your local mechanic. The only reason I'm here is for things that the mechanic claims only the dealership can fix. read more

As in every dealership they too try to rip you off. Made several offers through email and calls only to be told the offer wasn't taken to the manager because it wasn't reasonable. I had to call back and follow up that the offer wasn't taken to the manager. Look people do your homework before heading out to any dealerships.
