Inreally hope that some day in tye future, that these stores would carry prepared sandwiches and other types of food wherr people can take the food out and consume it without preparing it at home. There are complete aisles of bread and cereals, and even fruit, but nothing that I can purchase and eat it right now. Everything else about this store is awesome, and the prices here are very low. Thry do have cold beverages but I couldn't find any of those Starbucks cold brewed coffee. I saw plenty of pet food, clothes, and paper products, but thry had nothing that I nreded right now. Showing some love to my teeny Target! There for you when you need it, and I really enjoy doing pickup orders from here. The staff is friendly and fabulous, and this also helps the somewhat annoying process of having to do customer service calls for the many items that are in "Target jail" throughout the store. While this isn't a full sized Target (don't expect furnishings or decor), I do prefer this location to the Fairmount store, though that one does have a parking lot. I stop in here for groceries I can't get at Trader Joes, and any one off pharmacy items I might need. I've found the self check out line to move fairly quickly, but note that if you're doing pickup, you can head straight to the counter directly to the right as you walk in. Happy shopping! read more

I enjoyed shopping at the Target at 19th & Chestnut street. It had been awhile since I'd enjoyed shopping anywhere, but this was relaxing and fun. They have a wide selection, and offer the most unique items. Surprises throughout the store! THE quality of the item I purchased during my last minute Christmas shopping was exceptional! Life hasn't been the same since the Target store at 11th and Chestnut shut down. I trekked over to this Target in Rittenhouse today, but unfortunately, there was too much commotion, which caused me to grab what I needed and proceed to checkout instead of browsing the store like I had initially intended to. There are 6 self checkout registers (one was down) and the line moved slowly. The checkout line is also combined with the line for the customer service desk so it was a mess and confusing several people. Security is something that this Target does not lack. Some employees were standing around and chatting instead of taking action to help reduce the number of people waiting in line. I'll probably only revisit this Target under true emergency circumstances. It was not my favorite location. read more

Ok. I was visiting the Comcast Technology Center and I got tired. Sitting at the lobby looking a foot massage place. For some reason, I didn't read where it was. I was about 2 blocks away to find out "foot massager" at Target on Chestnut Street. I was like, grrrr!!!!! Fine. I'll go get something to drink or get a banana to snack on. The signs have departments listed but they don't exist. I can't find men's department. Ok some shirts from last football season by cashier waiting line doesn't count. The self-serve area was creepy. Start of the line is right next to the first machine. Another customer was constantly looking at me. Fine. I'll move out of your line of sight. We stopped in for baby clothes but they didn't have any. This is a small target and they only carry your basics. I found it strange that they only had a woman's section. Not sure what that's about. Unfortunately we couldn't find what we needed but we were able to get Gerber formula, pampers and wipes for our little one. I stopped an employee and asked her where we could get baby clothes nearby. She directed us to Primart. She was so sweet and thorough. Thanks again girl! read more

I was expecting to walk into a full fledged Target, but what I stumbled into was something about the size of a CVS/Walgreen with a 2nd floor. This had things that Target has, but it's by no means what I know as a Target. There's a clothing section that's smaller than most clearance sections at a "real" Target. There's a small grocery section which is good for food items. Upstairs, there are housewares and toys and cards. As far as Targets go, this doesn't measure up. Maybe they need to call it Target Light, Target Necessities, Tiny Target, Target Bulls-eye or something to convey it's a smaller version. I've been in other downtown Targets with 2 floors and they didn't disappoint like this one. Maybe they should think like Walmart and Walmart Neighborhood Market. At least you know what you're getting with each. read more

[916] This Center City location does NOT have parking but that's because of the location. Turns out that it doesn't bother me since I run in when I'm in the area. It's a two story location with a limited amount of items. They have a basic of everything so you can get what you need when you're in here. I usually stop in for some groceries or school supplies. It's not a huge store so it's not my go to Target but that's ok. Hard to carry that much anyway. They only have 2 cashiers with a bunch of self service registers which works out as most people are not making large grocery purchases. I'll definitely be back. read more

This is a smaller Target in the Center City/Rittenhouse Square area. Still larger than most stores. Low prices. Convenient. Plenty of self-checkout machines. There's usually a line. It tends to move quickly enough though. The self-checkout machines do have some problems. It took a few attempts to get one of them to scan an item. Another machine scanned an item twice. read more

I am the type of person who loves shopping at Target and getting blissfully lost in all the mesmerizing displays of things I don't need. Well, luckily for me, I had no such trouble at this Target since this shop was extremely small and understocked. It looked like it was set in a post apocalyptic world -- empty shelves, disorganized items, clothes with only the largest and smallest sizes remaining... I couldn't find any rosemary or Italian seasoning in the spices area. And they were out of eggs. I understand the store size constraint, but at least then make the most of your space and fill up those empty shelves. They should get rid of the Starbucks shop in there and use the space for more items. Plus there's already a Starbucks right across the street. read more

This by far has to be the smallest Target I've ever went to. Every section is small and compact in a medium size space. So of course target is the place to go to if you need anything such as clothing, bed and bath products, electronics, food you name it, you could probably get it at Target. So unfortunately my iron decided to go out before work and on my lunch break I visited target to get a new one. The sales associate was very nice and helpful, he showed me the small and limited selection of irons. I was able to find a Black and Decker iron on sale for 18.00. I self checked my item and I was on my way back to work. Store item prices are reasonable, which is good for the location however supplies are limited because of the size of the store. read more

EXCELLENT! It's a mini Target which executes exactly what's intended: fast convenience. Of course, their stock is limited given the physical limitations of a brick and mortar store, but they fill it with all the right things Rittenhouse locals need. I personally grocery shop here because it's one of the cheaper options relative to Trader Joe's and Rittenhouse Market. Their meat selection is varied, too which is also a plus. A great touch is that the staff here are pleasant; exactly what one comes to expect from Target and what is missing from their competition (CVS, Rite-Aid). Don't expect to stand in line here as there's always a cashier and open self-checkout lanes. read more

They have what you need as most Targets do, however many of the items are locked. They require an associate to open the case supposedly notified by scanning your hand under a sensor. I just scanned repeatedly waiting over 10 minutes without any assistance. I looked around for an associate but no luck there either. I can imagine if you live in the city and don't have a car, getting to a "real" Target must be a luxury. So this Target Express is like a mini version of a full sized store. Perhaps you'll walk out spending only $50 instead of the usual $100! You will find extremely limited options for clothing and for furniture, so don't go here for that. They do have quite a nice sized little grocery section. So pretty much you might find some basics in a store that is bright and airy. The grocery section at this Target was a welcome addition to the neighborhood, as the Rittenhouse market is ridiculously expensive. Although this is a small target, they have done a good job stocking the grocery section with the groceries I like to buy. I was especially happy to see Amoroso rolls! I haven't explored the other sections and I do wish they sold blu-rays. But I'm happy I can get most groceries I want and usually get through self checkout quickly. read more

This Target location should be called Target J. or "TJ" because it's essentially a baby Target. To be completely honest, my initial reason for coming here was to locate a restroom- I never found one so I just shopped. Here's what I found: 1. There's a Starbucks inside. 2. There's a CVS. 3. Both sides have checkout areas. 4. There is a small grocery section. I can imagine this being perfect if you lived in the city. It have every department a normal Target would have, but it just didn't carry as much stuff. It's kind of like, a "best of". This Target was tiny, even if only comparing it to other city Targets. It was two floors, but very compact, and outside of grocery, seemed to carry a very slimmed-down selection of items. Luckily, the only items we really needed were food, so we got what we were looking for. We did have some other non-food items on our maybe list, but the selection was so limited we decided against purchasing. No issues using the self-checkout, and that whole process was quick. I Come to this target everyday of the week for my client, first off the staff is fine it's the security that's extra. Im at self check out and one of my items must not of scanned instead of just simply saying the item didn't scan she takes the bag out my hand and I asked her to see the receipt so I can look she literally fought me for this bag I'm paying with eby nobody trying to steal. I get dirty looks from this same lady everytime I come in here. I spoke with the manager about the situation and he even said it was uncalled for. I called corporate on her and made sure I handled the situation I usually don't even go this far but she hype for no reason. An item not scanning is one thing but to act like that is bulls*it and I'm not gonna let no one treat me like that at all. when I asked for the manager rudly she says can you back away mam no body was even close to her but she thought she was gonna get away with it and she wasnt at all. As someone who grew up in the burbs, it's interesting to see a Target modified to fit within city standards. I, for one, am glad there's a central Target in Philly now. They manage to pack a punch despite their lack of grounds. From clothes to food, they probably have what you need. At the very least, they're a good supplement to your weekly purchases. I needed a few essentials the other day and they had them all. Entrances/exits are available on both Chestnut and Samson, so you can go in one side and out the other, like a Tiger store! Keep in mind you need to drop off your own basket back by the door after checking out. I was a little surprised by the cashier's order but okay. read more

SIGH!!!!! Target do a better job! Ok, I get it, this store is smaller than I'm used to and you're VERY new but this was the worst Target shopping experience I've ever had. How bad was it? Well....I got frustrated ten minutes into it, put my cart down, and took the bus to Plymouth Meeting to get some ACTUAL customer service (not to mention cheaper prices). I live a mere three blocks away and I'll stay take that trip instead of ever shopping here again. Why was this a train wreck of a shopping experience? Let's count the ways: 1. Employee standing outside of the store cursing someone out on her cellphone (I really hope you dumped the guy after all that) 2. Broken front door (You've only been open a month) 3. Horribly laid out store, nothing was placed in a way that made sense and people seemed more confused than anything else 4. Employee lack of knowledge: Remember me saying about how poorly the store was laid out? This led to customers constantly asking the employees where things were, NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING!!!! I had a girl straight lie to my face "Target doesn't sell contact solution." She said this after supposedly consulting her little red Target tricorder. A different employee told a woman that they didn't sell baby wipes.....as I was standing right in front of them 5. The frakking self-checkout: I watched as four different people were waiting for help at the self checkouts. I mean why help customers? That'd just be silly. 6. There apparently IS a customer bathroom somewhere.....that an employee has to unlock for you! Seriously??? WTF! Everything about this place says we don't value you're business. All of this isn't coming from a target hater, in fact quite the opposite, Target is my favorite of the chains. That being said, this place isn't going to make it. There's nothing they offer that you can't get at one of the million of drug stores already downtown, not to mention the abysmal customer service. I love that I can walk to this target instead of getting my car and making my way down to Delaware Avenue. Although there is parking right outside for when you need to do a big haul of restocking of your house. I like that the basic staples are available here, the selection is small but you will be able to get with products they have here. I like the self check out, as the cashier line seems move at a snails pace. I wish the back registers were opened more often as I always enter through rear of the store- which is a bit of pain, but not a deal breaker. I have never really interacted with staff, but there is usually one around the register, but you really have to look for them unless you get there early when they are restocking the store, otherwise, they are hard to come by. I am a big fan of this location as well as the Rittenhouse store, which has a larger limited selection. read more

This Target is for those late evening or the 'Oh I forgot that _____?' trip. The stock is very limited except for some groceries, toiletries, and dorm room items. It really is a 'self serve' environment because there are very few associates to be found. Please do not expect to see a Target advertisement and think you will find it in this store. The store is very organized and well stocked with the items they intend to have available. I was disappointed to find a beautiful jumpsuit for vacation but not in my size they only had one. The fruits and vegetables look very fresh and they gave a lot of quick meal items. This Target is in a nice location for people who live or work in the area. With the goal of convenient one stop shopping and commuter/professional friendly hours, it has a lot of amenities in one spot: - Clothing and accessories (Mossimo! Merona!) - Snacks and cereals (Archer Farms!) - Personal products - Canned and bottled goods (except beer. PA, baby) - Refrigerated goods (dairy/meat/frozen goods) - Produce - Housewares and decor - Small appliances - Order pickup window accessible by sidewalk - Pharmacy (CVS) and Starbucks nestled in the store Alas, the downside of city living is space. This store has a long and narrow footprint - with checkout/entrances on Chestnut and Sansom. While it has a bit of everything, it has a smaller variety to choose from. (Now I'm really missing the huge clothing, rug, and furniture sections from the burbs). The aisles and shelving feel a touch narrow - and even more so during peak hours. I'm hoping the store's "Flexible Format" designation will allow it to rotate out items that are seeing less traffic and demand, and perhaps find a niche that stores nearby don't carry. I'm most excited about the order pick up window - while it requires some preplanning, folks can walk their dog and run errands at the same time (and not get suckered into impulse purchases)! For a city target, this one is fabulous! They did not waste space with a Starbucks which is smart given its location in Rittenhouse. The first floor entry feels quite chaotic with 6 self checkouts and a few counter checkouts squished into a smattering of groceries and clothes. The second floor has home goods, 2 baby aisles, tech items, and pharmacy items (though I didn't see a full pharmacy!) I wish they had more of a selection but given the space it has, Target did a great job. read more

So this Target is in the middle of center city and its definitely a condensed version of the ones you may be used to. It has a starbucks and CVS inside which is convenient and has the same basic departments that a regular department, it just isnt as eclectic. Not sure if its my timing, or things just sell out really quickly in this store, but they are constantly re-stocking the place. So youll see a bunch of target minions running around unloading boxes and filling the racks with all the things. That being said, its in a convenient location and as long as you keep your expectations low, chances are you will be able to find what you need! read more

It's awesome to have a Target, even one of these smaller concept stores, in Rittenhouse Square! Being able to have access to tons of popular products in one spot, rather than from small schlock overpriced stores, is a God-send; especially when this is your home area! This is a bigger location, with an enhanced variety of products, than the first center city location in Washinton Square West. These are urban stores, so you can't expect them to have everything their big-box store has; but you can find most any of your essentials here, if if they aren't the exact brand that you want. When you walk in, you start off in the clothing section, which has a nice varied selection for men and women. Then there is the food section, with a variety of fresh fruits & vegetables, dairy, frozen, and dry goods. This is a 2-story Target, so there are stairs & elevators to get you to the second floor. There actually is a third floor they build in this building, but what it will be is apparently unknown. Perhaps it's a stock room? On the second floor, you have a nice health & beauty section, a rather large home section, a pretty comprehensive electronics section, and other various sundries. Unfortunately these urban stores do not have a photo lab section; maybe it's not necessary, considering all the other ways you can develop your photos, but it certainly would be nice to have if your main go-to store is Target. There is neither a sporting section or a bike section, but don't worry: they'll have your water bottles and yoga mats here. Hahaa Again, this is a God-send for the Rittenhouse Square area. We really needed something that has a better variety of essentials and a store that prices them reasonably here! What rating do I give a brand-new place, and could I fault them for anything at all, at this point? It'd probably have to be a 5-star, for being clean, stocked, and friendly service. I just wanted to acknowledge the security guard who was on the 4 pm shift. I went in and purchased some cleaning supplies. I paid and asked the guy who was cleaning the checkout area if he could get me a larger bag. He said that the guy at the register could give me one. I said no there are three people ahead of me and He can do it. He reluctantly did. I said thank you and he had an attitude. We the security guard saw I was struggling to open the bag and he helped me. I said thank you. He then said hey you may need another one but I didn't to push my luck and he said no problem and help me with a second bag. I was like wow. Someone actually helping someone at Target. This Target never has anything you need. I went last night to grab a couple groceries to hold me over until I could go to a real grocery store. I found zero eggs, zero bananas, one nectarine, etc etc. I heard other people speaking of how understocked the store is as well. I wouldn't write a review on one bad instance, but after living here for over a year and frequenting this Target for various items, I can confidently say that this Target almost never has every item I need. With that being said, I've been to several Target locations, but I felt compelled to write a review about this one because of their fantastic customer service! Out of all the locations I have been to, this is definitely the one I visit the most. Although not nearly as large as many of the other ones, they have all the essentials. We're talking all the basic foods you need (dairies, breads, fruits, vegetables, snacks, condiments, spices, and more), vitamins and OTC drugs, toiletries, housewares, and even some clothing! There is a Starbucks and a CVS on premise which will only make your life even easier. So back to the main reason I am writing this review - their customer service deserves five stars in itself. Not only is the staff helpful and efficient, but super friendly too! It's that kind of customer service that will keep you going back. As the midtown area continues to grow and expand, I hope this Target will continue to keep up their great work. With a good reputation and service like this, they can definitely count on me returning again and again! read more

This was the smallest Target I've ever seen in my life! I didn't even know they made Targets this small! It had very limited merchandise. It did have some of the lines of greeting cards that my Target no longer carries which I very much appreciated. They basically don't want to check you out. There are a million self check out counters that you have to walk through before approaching a tiny area with two registers and one employee. Being in this Target was very much bizarro world for me because I'm used to ginormous Targets. I guess this works if you need to grab a couple of quick items. In my case, I needed a few cards and I didn't feel like going out the next day so I figured I might as well run in and get it over with while we were walking by. It served its purpose! But if this was my home-base Target I would definitely be upset. read more
