Glasses are great, I went in today and they adjusted them for me while I waited a few minutes, (they had to accommodate for my ears and eyebrows not being perfectly even) LOL. Emma had me fit right in a few minutes. I had actually gone there to pick up a friend's glasses with him, as I had referred him and his glasses had arrived. Angie was already punched out, and about to leave, but took a few minutes to help us with the pick up, and Emma also adjusted his glasses for perfect vision. I hope this does not get Angie in trouble for working off the clock for a few minutes. I'm very unhappy with target optical. 185 for eye exam seems extremely inflated. I had coupon from target for contacts. Target refused to accept their own coupon. I will not be returning there again. 400.00 for contacts is way over priced. Last year it took a month to receive my contacts. I should have learned my lesson then. The store layout has recently been redesigned. They have removed all of the chairs for customers who are waiting for service. My husband and I went in last week to purchase glasses. We had to wait about half an hour because there was only one person helping customers. i had to stand the entire time -- there was no chair for me to sit next to him while he was being fitted. We went back this morning to pick up the glasses -- a 5 minute task. Again, there was over half an hour wait because there was only one person helping customers And answering the phone. They have removed the checkout counter as well, or the cashier could have just handed us the glasses. And they do not accept appointments for the purchase or pickup of glasses. So, unless you enjoy standing around waiting, choose a store that cares more out out its customers to make them comfortable and staffs sufficiently to not waste their time. read more

Dr. Lam is great, kind, friendly, knew his stuff and gave me a discount because he had a machine malfunction while I was there. Visits for myself and my spouse have included a lot of waiting around. I think it's due to only one assistant. The assistants always seem overwhelmed manning the phones and tending to people trying on specs. It's a very small operation in a tight space. Again, Dr. Lam is great, but I think being housed in a Target has its limitations. Overall my experience was Ok. read more

Stopped into Sam's Club Optical for an inexpensive pair of frames for driving, as my driver's license now requires corrective lenses (also bought an expensive pair of wooden frames from Herrlicht--a German firm--and, based upon my experience, will use Sam's Club for the lenses for that pair as well). Some months ago, after failing my driver's license vision test, I had stopped into Target Optical because a friend in Minnesota works for the company that runs Target Optical (it is *not* Target Corp.). This was an error. Sam's Club requested a hard copy of my prescription, which I could not provide on the spot, as it is in a 70 MB file in the cloud. At the manager's suggestion, I called Target Optical to advise it to expect a facsimile from Sam's Club Optical authorizing it to in turn send my prescription to Sam's Club Optical by facsimile. Target Optical swore it would be done (see: the villains in Princess Bride). We waited some forty minutes, and the facsimile never arrived. Shocker. I called the next day and learned that Target Optical had still not sent the facsimile. Shocker. Accordingly, I called Target Optical and spoke with a man who said he had not been in yesterday (I told him about the situation and said I was curious on what planet this is normal). He placed me on hold, and another man came on the line @ ~5:00. He placed me on hold for ~ 10 min. and finally returned. It seems that he cannot find the facsimile (either a lie or incompetence, as the facsimile was transmitted properly per Sam's Club's confirmation). I asked him whether he normally places customers on hold for ten minutes, and he said yes. Aghast, I asked him whether he felt this was good customer service, and he would not answer. Rather, he kept asking me for my information. I advised him that we would get to that, but, first, he was going to answer for his behavior. I asked him once or twice again whether he thought this was good customer service, and he kept avoiding my question. I asked him whether this was how his mother taught him to behave, and he would not answer. Finally, I asked where he went to college, and he hung up. This year was the 2nd time that I went to Target Optical to renew my contact lens prescription. Last year I had a very good experience. This year I was told that there was a problem with my insurance--even though it hasn't changed since last year and they had all my details. I had to pay $110 out of pocket ($65 for the exam and $45 for the fitting). When I called my insurance, they told me that everything was OK with my insurance, so I called Target Optical again. Another associate answered and when they checked my details in the system again, it turned out that the other associate entered my date of birth incorrectly. They were able to pull up my details and returned $55 for the exam (minus $10 copay), but said that for some reason they could not bill the insurance for the contacts fitting. So I called the insurance again who said that I wouldn't be reimbursed for my fitting unless I ordered contacts (which are included into my plan) through Target Optical. Calling Target Optical for what seems like the 10th time, I was told that they have some info sheets explaining that for whatever reason they don't bill insurance companies for contacts fitting, and that if nothing was wrong with my insurance, they would have informed me about it, but since there was "a problem" with my insurance (when there was NO problem with my insurance!! The associates were entering my DOB incorrectly--that certainly doesn't count as a problem with my insurance!), they didn't care to inform me about it. Apparently because they thought that I was lying about my insurance or something?? So basically I had to pay $45 for the fitting which is INCLUDED into my insurance plan and now I have to figure out a way to buy contacts using my insurance allowance through a tedious process of filing a reimbursement claim with my insurance company simply because they did not care to inform me about their policies! And I will never get my $45 back. And I was told that I would have to go to another place to use my insurance allowance to buy my contacts. What kind of business model is that? They plain told me to get out of their hair and take my business elsewhere. This is very unprofessional, all this matter took hours of my time and dozens of phone calls back and forth just to be told that because of their error, which they don't care to admit, I have to deal with all this. As I was filling out the form, Dr. Lam walks out and asks the receptionist what he has planned for the weekend. He mentions that his daughter is getting married tomorrow. A few minutes later, Dr. Lam walks out with a check for his daughter! I was so blown away by this, it was so nice of him. After I saw that happen, I knew I had to write a review! I would rate this a five but my picking up process wasn't as pleasant as my actually appointment with the doctor Alan Cheung and Owen. As I called to see where my glasses were Ashley told me they had sent me an email. Mind it was the wrong email, as I asked if I needed to make another appointment Ashley said no but get here before a certain time to pick up because we close at this time. When I go in to pick up my product the manager on duty Karine and Ashley never apologized to me that they had the wrong email but that since it wasn't my email they would call me in another two weeks. Because that's protocol. All I really wanted was them to apologize for the mistake but instead they were rude. And when I did ask about how long my services are for my protection plan they weren't nice about what I had. They kind of didn't care to really talk to me. read more

Very professional, friendly associates. Dr. Lam is great and extremely thorough. He explained a lot of things to watch for with eyesight that a lot of other optometrists skip over. I have very poor eyesight, and he did an exam using different tools than other eye doctors, in order to get a more accurate prescription for me. His exam prices are great, too, even if you aren't using vision insurance. I will be going back to look at frames & lenses soon, and will update my review accordingly. read more

Yesterday was my second exam by Dr. Lam, he is great, the exam is very thorough, he is very professional, he takes time to explain the exam as he is performing it, and takes the time to answer all questions you may have in a way that makes sense. He has answered questions I could not get clearly answered from my ophthalmologist. I hope he is there is next year as well, if not I will google and try to find where he has gone. The strangest experience of my life happened in this Target Optical location. I walked in to start looking at frames for new glasses, but the employee sitting at the desk just wanted to have really iffy conversations with me. Over the course of 10 minutes, he had let me know that he thinks "congress is fake", I don't look good in purple glasses, he "can't decide whether children are born with their souls or not", he thinks the Target optical posters about some sale are "stupid" (while reading them aloud to me in strange voices), and other oddities. After waiting it out with polite smiles and "uh-huh's" thinking that the hidden camera show would present me with my check, I finally just left to get purple frames somewhere else. So good they are worth reviewing! Dr Lam and the office staff are all professional, helpful, and courteous. I've seen Dr. Lam 2 years in a row now, which is the most times in a row I've probably ever seen an optometrist (the chain offices seem to have a different doctor every year). No stars if I could. All the staff will give you different information. I've had problems with the girls behind the desk for the eye exams being on their phones and being distracted... example: talking about EYEBROWS when I have more questions about my contacts. Second issue, I came in within my warranty time to get new lenses... I had the opportunity to get new frames for $25... but there wasn't anything REALLY wrong other than minimal wear and tear and I had bent the frames a little. The girl, Esperanza said, I would be covered for another year on both the lenses and frames so no need to get them just yet. I now have broken my glasses and am now told that I was given wrong information and there's nothing they can do. My mother was there and witnessed the whole thing. I would have gladly paid the $25 for a new pair of expensive Ray Bans had I known. I'm currently waiting for the manager, Karen to get back to me to see if the store manager can help me. I'm hopeful that I can change my review... and also will be more cautious next time I'm discussing warranties. read more

My appointment was almost two weeks ago and I'm still telling friends and family about my positive experience here. Dr. Lam was running late, so I was worried he'd be rushed and irritable (as most eye doctors are). How wrong I was! He took time to be friendly and answer all my questions, he even explained how some medication I'm on could affect my eyesight and what signs to look for (something my prescribing MD had not mentioned). Carene (I hope I spelled that right) was also fantastic. She ran the front of the very busy office ...it was amazing to watch her work with the variety of customers coming in and out. She was super patient with me and help to find the perfect glasses. Though the appointments were running late, it wasn't by much 15 minutes or so. Also, I got Coach Sunglasses and Rayban daytime glasses, both with progressive lenses for around $600; it was a good good deal, cheaper than my last one pair of glasses bought at an ophthalmologist's office that i never ended up happy with. My glasses from Target are working great, the lenses are high quality and I'm having no trouble. I'll go back again next year. read more
