We discovered Target Optical by accident since this is not our usual Target. We walked in and saw a big posted at the Front, telling us about a fold-able Ray-Ban sunglasses. That's how we found out Target Optical.
So when BF needed glasses, he thought of Target Optical, even tho I told him there's not many reviews about Target Optical at all. But he wanted to try anyway. We walked in one weekend, and the middle age lady with blonde-ish/yellow-ish hair was not really happy about us walking in. Told us they were fully booked that afternoon and we need to make an appointment. Okay, we understood, but no need to be mean.
So BF called and made an 2:30 Sat afternoon appointment. We arrived super early, so we went to Starbucks and walked around the store. We walked in the Optical office at about 2pm. The same middle age lady "greeted" us, and told us to fill out some simple paperwork. Then said "Your appointment is 2:30, you are too early. Do you want to go shopping or have coffee (I had a venti frappaccino in my hand already) and come back?" Did not even let us hang around and sit down?! FINE
So we walked around again, and walked back in Right ON 2:30 pm. This time Tony greeted us. Now, that's a complete different experience. Tony talked to us and tried to understood what we were there for. He told us the Doctor was a little behind (who, I think is independent contractor, not related to Target. coz BF paid eye exam co-pay separately), may be we could start looking at frames while waiting. Tony gave helpful tips on which frames look better on BF and which not, and helpful to look for frames. (they have Ray-Ban, D&G, Oakley, etc.)
Tony was not only patience with us, he's patience with everyone. Some lady picked up her contact lens and not completely understand the insurance break down & discount. Tony explained to her and she left. The 15 minutes later, she returned and still did not understand. So Tony once again explained to her.
While BF in eye Exam, I overheard Tony asked someone about their insurance card. So I asked him if he needed BF's. Tony asked if I have BF's address and such information, if so, we could started the process to save some time. (While the other lady just sat there and do nothing.) Of course, he also helped us with lenses selection and willing to compare prices before committing to the one.
Most importantly, if you have your RED Card, you still get your 5% off. SCORE! :)
With BF's prescription (which is pretty low), Transition lenses, a D&G frame, after insurance coverage and 5% off, the total comes to under $250. I think it's pretty good.
Glasses were ready a little over a week.
(1) If you want an eye exam, call ahead, especially for weekends.
(2) Get a RED Card, you will get 5% off!!! (No I don't work for Target or the financial institute that handles RED Cards)
(3) They have a OneSight donation box at the corner, you could donate your old eyeglasses.
(4) They have different promotion from time to time, March was half off lenses, April is half off Rx Sunglasses. You might get some deals that way if you have to pay out of pocket. read more
