Worst customer service I have EVER experienced, ran 6 mins late to my appointment and was told that they could not see me...had raced from work early to make it to get seen and I am DYING need of glasses, Scott and Brandon are two of the worst Customer Service reps I have ever dealt with... they do not care and feel like it's your privilege to business with Target Optical....this quite a surprise that this type of behavior is allowed with their four walls, never have I ever ever made a Yelp post but I feel that customers should know!!! Sooo, l'm shopping at Target and found out they have a new Optical ! What can't you get at Target !? Went in and Doctor Ciobanu was super nice. Her equiptment was cutting edge. Never seen anything like that at other offices. I felt I was definetly getting my money's worth. The frames were cool too, I got two pairs. Dr. Ciobanu is amazing!! I ran out of contacts and needed an eye exam last minute and booked an appointment with Dr. Ciobanu. She is the sweetest and really does an amazing job of taking care of your eyes but SJSU making sure the patient is informed and doing what is best for them. I'll definitely be coming back here for my eye exam next year. Also, the staff was super friendly as well. They made sure everything was taken care of for ordering my contacts. read more

Target Optical is aweeesomeee! I was running out of my contact lens supply and I decided to reorder. I had a valid prescription from last year. So I called my doctor. Unfortunately my insurance had changed and my doctor did not accept my new insurance. I urgently needed to refill and I was panicking. That's when I came across Target Optical. I walked in and out in 15 min flat with a 6 month supply in hand and another 6 month supply ordered! I did not even have to provide my insurance details. When I asked if he needed to see my insurance, the guy said that just my putting in my name and Date of birth, my insurance had already been applied. I also got a 25$ off for being a first time Target Optical customer. All in all I paid a total of just $25 for a one-year supply!! and just when I thought it couldn't get better, the guy threw in a complimentary lens solution. I am one happy customer! A note on ordering online. You cannot apply your insurance online. So it's better to go in person. Also when you order online, if you select the 'I have TARGET red card' option, it does not allow you to enter your TARGET red card credit card number. You need to enter a different credit card number for your order to go through. read more

I have VSP insurance and went there to get non prescription sunglasses because I had lasik years ago. The guy Jake who helped me said I need a referral from VSP to do that (never had to do that before) he said they were in network so I said I will just pay and get reimbursed. So today I can't find the claim form online (only for out of network) I call Target back and speak with him, confirm they are in network and ask about the claim for and he tells me that you can use the same form. I call VSP directly and find out that they are not in VSP network and it reduces my reimbursement amount from 130 to 70. He lied to me and I am now out $50.00 because of it. I will be also reporting this to the BBB. read more

This was by far the quickest most efficient optical visit I have ever experienced, the staff is amazing and well informed, if they do not know an answer they will sure find the answer. This is the absolute most UNPROFESSIONAL office ive ever experienced.. Ezra the front desk, not very helpful, his attitude is outrageous id fire him at my office. Secondly, i have an appointment to get my eye checked, its oozing and swollen and pink, and i call to let them know i might be running right on time, and they tell me they have no appointments for me that they dont even have a doctor there to help me. But i had a woman call me the night before confirming and going over my copay w me BUT SUPPOSEDLY I dont have an appointment and they DONT have a doctor. Thats so crazy they close at 8 with no doctor what is Ezra and the rest of the staff doing? Dont come here they dont have the help you need! I even called kaiser who scheduled this appointment for me and they have it in their books ALSO that im supposed to be there at 6:30 so how do they N O T have a doctor there??? Ok so I used to go to this place all the time because it's near and pretty fast with booking and scheduling. But now I don't think I will be going back, all the doctors are nice except the blonde one (forgot her name) she is super rude and pretty emotionless. I told her my contacts her and I went to take them out and she yelled at me. Also when she was giving my contact samples she was going to give me two but instead gave me one because I guess according to her I had enough contacts back at home. read more

Bottom line: Don't come here. Took over a month to receive correct contact prescription, was constantly avoided/ignored by staff, literally called probably over 10 times over the course of two months for two people's prescriptions. Had an exam with Connie Lam, who first wasn't able to adjust equipment to my eyes and had to resort to manual lenses; charged for an exam where she merely confirmed my prior prescription without further examination, then actually prescribed me wrong (and more expensive) contacts. The wrong lenses were delivered, then it took weeks of multiple calls for them to correct the prescription- we even went back to Target after multiple calls where they constantly promised to call back and didn't. Doctor clearly saw me, recognized me, and avoided me, then was told I would have to wait for a break between patients when we had arrived exactly at the time they previously said on the phone was after her lunch break. Male employees on the phone will either put you on hold or promise to call back then won't. Only redeeming factors: the female employee in the office and Dr. Ciobanu. Have been going to this eye check up clinic for the past 4 years now. All this while never got to meet Dr. Ciobanu it was either her junior doctor or this time round her field technician/optometrist from Fullerton college. Anyway I am just surprised that they did not have equipment to give me pupillary distance, now don't give me the concept that an ophthalmologist or optometrist does not have to give you that number...its like checking your blood pressure with a doctor and not getting those numbers. Its absolute nonsense. To get the pupillary distance I had to go to Target optical which is the cabal of Luxottica, and the staff there were from "Dollar General" absolutely clueless , lackadaisical and until I purchased the glasses from them I would not be given my pupillary distance. Basically, buy from us and not from some online company, basically hostage to Target/Luxottica. I don't expect much from the capitalistic, monopolistic approaches of Target/Luxottica, that's what you get for living in a Plutocracy, however Dr. Ciobanu and her staff not having equipment to read the pupillary distance is subpar. Anyway my two cents here and hope anti-trust breaks the hell up of Luxottica who have cornered the market. read more

Just came here to help Grandma repair her bifocals. She had a screw come loose, which caused a lens to fall out. Mariana fixed it for us, did a cleaning, and replaced the nose pads. We had an extremely disappointing experience at Target Optical. After spending a total of $897.40 for three eye glasses and then returning one pair (since they could not get the prescription right) we went to another independent optometrist. This second optometrist explained our eye care insurance benefit schedule to us and showed us, that in many instances, there are different pricing tiers depending on your preference. This was NEVER explained to us at Target Optical and we determined that, in all instances, they had charged us the maximum tier/highest available price. In addition, Target Optical suggested a protection plan and, the way it was explained to us, we thought this was a lifetime (of the glasses) plan. This cost us another $70 (for two pairs). On returning home we read the plan and found that it was for one year only. We would not have purchased this plan had we understood that. Finally, when we phoned Target Optical to enquire about this overall situation and to complain about not being told about the tier pricing, we were told by the associate on the phone, "well, I didn't serve you". We were certainly suckered into these purchases. Very disappointing for Target. read more

This has been a horrible experience. My son had an appointment in December while he was home from college. Ordered glasses, hoping to have them for the 100% online spring semester. It's now April and STILL NO GLASSES!!!!! I called over a dozen times to check status... I kept getting , " we can't find them, we will call you back." Only to never receive a call back! They finally "miraculously " received my glasses and offered to ship them overnight to my son at school! How nice of them.... nope! He never ever got them! It was the end of the year and I needed to use my eye care insurance before 2012. I was visiting friends in Irvine for the weekend and they recommended Dr. Ciobanu at Target Optical. My friends are long time patients and highly suggested that I go to her. I gave her office a call to see if I could come in an hour later, and she had availability. So I walked into Target and quickly found the Optical center. Dr. Ciobanu's office is extremely clean and has the latest technology with new machines/equipment. She greeted me with a friendly smile and told me to come back to one of the rooms with the fancy equipment. My exam was very thorough, quick and I felt very comfortable with Dr. Ciobanu. I asked her many questions and she was patient and very knowledgeable. I also checked out the sales area where they had various frames and sunglasses. All reasonably priced and the staff was very helpful. Even though I live in Los Angeles, I would be willing to come back again! Might as well make a trip out of it...visit with friends, eye exam, and 85C Bakery! read more

I made an appointment for me and my boyfriend for and eye exam and we both saw Dr. Ciobanu. She was very nice and let us sit in on each others exam. She had up to date technology in her office and made us feel very comfortable. Each of us had different questions and she was more than willing to answer them. I was really glad that I came to her and would recommend her to anyone. The target frame selection is somewhat limited, I was able to find a nice frame for my eyeglasses, but my boyfriend did not. He was however, able to order his contact lenses with no issues. We were assisted by Adam, who was very friendly and helpful. The time frame for the glasses and lenses to come in is 7 days, possible sooner. read more

I have been boycotting Target in for nearly two years since the manager of the Foothill Ranch store ordered me out of her store after I had complained how a cashier was turned around and rudely staring at my daughters at the self checkout. Corporate didn't care to even respond. However, my insurance gives a good deal at Target; so I decided to finally break my boycott just for the optical only and because it's a different store. I was absolutely surprised at how professional, courteous, and knowledgeable Daniel Lightizer the manager was. He juggled half a dozen eyeglass customers like a master. On top of that; the optometrist Diana Ciobanu is absolutely Thorough, friendly, professional, and authentically caring for her patients. I'm definitely returning to this optometry again. Furthermore, I've never had a problem at this Target store ever since they opened many years ago. So maybe I will make this location the exception for my boycott as it is operated professionally. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by Daniel's obvious commitment to ensuring the very best service. After costco denied my colored contact prescription ( they don't have sterling grey in stock) I ordered contacts through the phone and faxed the prescription over to Target. Man who ordered them for me (Chris) was extremely friendly and helpful. Followed up and called in a timely manner and assisted me with all my concerns. I am never going to this optometry again. Beyond shady if you ask me. I have never before been charged for an eye exam without receiving the actual exam documents e.g what my prescription is. I was given my glasses prescription but never my contac lens. I won't disagree with the other reviewers that their staff are really friendly and I was able to get a refund because I am very unsatisfied with their practices, but overall, not a good experience. read more

The regular optometrist was not in, but that's OK since Dr. Lee was very nice and good. My mistake was planning for an hour -- try like over 2!! They were so busy that the counter people neglected to tell me that I could not get a wrap frame with the filter that I was getting, so I had to start all over again in selecting a frame (when I had just taken 45 minutes to do so). The frame selection is a bit limited, but for the price and purpose that I need them, the glasses should be fine. (They take my insurance -- MES, so I can't complain)! read more

I really hate leaving bad reviews (I never have actually) because I understand people can have bad days and sometimes a customer's expectations might be beyond reasonable BUT....this is hands down THE WORST optical service provider I've ever experienced. They seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful in every interaction I've had with them. My BS meter with them has hit the tipping point when I called to ask for my current prescription. The rep asked why (why does it matter?!!) and when I told her my frames are too heavy and I need to find a cheaper pair elsewhere (my bad for being honest), she informed me she can't provide prescriptions over the phone - even though I verified my identity...! Instead of even offering to exchange frames or a solution of some sort, she basically just said no. Seems odd that my doctor can provide full medical details and results over the phone yet my eye prescriptions are top secret and have to be faxed or picked up in store. Changing providers immediately. Avoid headaches by avoiding this office. read more

I was surprised to not only have an exam with the very latest equipment but to also get a doctor who took the extra trouble to fill out the DMV form with great care. In addition, she seemed genuinely interested in my eye history and made the whole experience a pleasant interlude in an otherwise busy day. The latest photography permitted Dr. Ciobanu to comment on the detail of specific aspects of my vision. She did not try to hustle me into a new pair of glasses because my current ones were consistent with her findings. I'm 92 years old, and have had my eyes examined many times, but never with such good professionalism and humorous sensitivity as with Dr. Diana Ciobanu. read more

Very disappointing. I kept getting phone calls and text messages. I confirmed my appointment and arrive more than 15 mins prior to my appointment time. Upon arrival no one greets me also they are just having personal conversations. When they finally ask what I'm there for they tell me the dr will be with me in a few minutes. My appointment time is up and that's when I'm inform that there was someone else before me and that their appointment was 15 mins ago. Hence, they over schedule clients and they do not see you on time. read more

I just recently tried the new Target optical and was very impressed. The doctor was extremely friendly, knowledgable and willing to take the time to answer all my questions. They even had contact lens trials in stock so I didn't have to wait for them to be ordered. They have a large frame selection and extremely helpful and personable staff. I love this Target Optical Center. I won't go anywhere else. I have gone here for years and now have taken my teenage daughter who needed contacts. Dr. Ciobanu was so patient and kind. Chris and Kim were awesome in the contact lens training for her. Chris put her right at ease. Didn't rush her. He made sure we had plenty of lenses to get us thru until hers would be shipped to our home. Both went out of their way to make it an exceptional experience. Rare these days in customer service. Private optometrist are so expensive, even with insurance. You will get the biggest bang for our buck and be treated well. read more
