I recently purchased a pair of eyeglasses from the Target Optical section at 2939 W Addison St Chicago IL 60618 . The price tag on the shelf clearly listed the glasses at $206, but I was charged $219 on my receipt. I went back and brought this to the attention of a staff member named Rick, who acknowledged that the shelf price was incorrect but did not offer a refund or price adjustment. I asked if I could instead take the $219 pair from the display (since I paid that amount). He said no since he gave me a discount already, but we are talking the price tag $206 on display shelf and charged me $219. read more

Target Optical has been my go to place for several years. The service at this location was amazing and my exam was the most in depth exam I could ask for. I felt confident in what was prescribed and all my questions were answered. We didn't feel rushed or forced to buy anything but rather given the choice to choose freely and try on as many glasses/sunglasses as possible. Will be recommending this place to the rest of my family. Loved the selection and will be coming back. 10/10 !! read more

Tbh. I've never found this location that great. I've had issues in the past with my orders. The doctor once wouldn't give me the contacts I requested. But what really irks me is that I make appointments online and a week later am called two days before I come in that they can't see me at that time I scheduled online. I'm then informed I would have to wait a week till the next appointment. Trying to do my social distancing here by doing things online and you still can't get it right. I would be totally understanding if it was we can fit you in the next day or asked when works for you? I didn't even get an apology really. Just matter of fact. You have the money and technology that smaller businesses don't have to get it right the first time. Sorry not sorry taking my business elsewhere! read more

I ended up coming in multiple times due to a complicated contact lens purchase as well as glasses. All of the staff that helped me, Ricky in particular, were kind and helpful - excellent customer service. Most of my visits were during March-May; I was impressed with the attention to detail with the disinfecting practices and felt very safe. Wonderful experience all around. read more

Original 3/3/19: This is a difficult review because for the most part service was great! The woman checking me in was friendly and Dr. Gyimah is the best. It's been a long time since I had an eye exam and I really wanted to feel comfortable with what I was gonna be told going into my old age (I'm mid-forties). It was delightful and ultimately I am very happy with my initial service, exam and subsequent results. During my wait time I selected my frames. So upon getting my prescription, I already knew what I wanted. I was short on time and the woman who checked me in was busy with another customer, so Rick (the manager, I believe) was asked to assist me in the transaction for my glasses. He appeared to be training a new employee and chose to continue that rather than make the transaction I needed. I wonder if the trainee noticed this level of customer service. I had to leave with my prescription with the intent to return to order my glasses. I don't know why the doctors can process the copay but not take the frames order, but I was flabbergasted that rather than show the trainee that customers are actually a priority that a manager would opt to let a customer leave and be forced to return to be properly assisted. I'm so disappointed. Also, they need hooks for coats! I identified two areas where coats could hang. Get it together Target Optical! That's a basic need that can be easily served Update! 3/4/19 I went to order my glasses and Manager Rick was perfectly pleasant and helpful! Even when I flubbed which glasses I'd originally selected. No biggie. Smooth sailing! Then he informed me that he'd read my review and wanted to explain. So he did. And now I understand that the doctor should have never asked for his assistance in the first place because he wasn't even supposed to be there. ...because...that, afterall, should be of interest to me, the customer lady. I need all the background info so that I for sure don't carry a negative impression of the place. Instead of, "I read your review and I'm sorry that you had that experience. I misunderstood what was being asked and didn't realize exactly what was happening. I truly apologize." Further, his actual service was so satisfactory that he could have gotten away without mentioning my review at all, and certainly without explaining. Then this edit would have contained the first paragraph and ended there. And perhaps an additional star. Someone get Rick to some customer service training stat! I went to Target Optical and this was my first time going there for my optometry needs. The doctor was very friendly and explained everything to me. She did a great job making my feel comfortable and made sure she gave me a prescription and contacts that were also comfortable with me. The general manager, Rick, helped me checkout and he was very thorough in explaining the different options I had in terms of what my insurance covered. read more

Love Dr. Jafferi; she is thorough, very knowledgeable, and explains the adjustments to your prescription in an easy to answer manner. My right eye had been giving me trouble and Dr. Jafferi kept trying different adjustments until we found the perfect prescription; she was so patient, and I didn't feel rushed when answering the "which is better" questions. Ricky is great and I'm amazed at his ability to gracefully manage all the patients on the weekend that I went. I really appreciated how he explained the best way for me to maximize my insurance benefits together with the Target Optical promotions. So glad that our Target has an Optical. read more

I'm into one stop shopping so that's why I decided to do my contacts at Target. Questionable at best. I was close to giving 2 stars but their prices and hours are good. Just didn't have a good experience with getting calls back when I needed to check on when my contacts would be in and seemed like I was annoying the person at times. If you wear contacts, you know how annoying it is when you are needing new ones. Working at an optical place, you should get that as well. Didn't seem like that was the case. I have been very pleased with this optometrist. I have see both Dr. Jafferi and Dr. Gyimah and I like both of them. They are helpful, easy to work with, and know what they are doing. I am happy to support women of color in the medical profession as well! Plus, it's inside Target so you can accomplish your shopping or grab a snack on the way out. Recommended. read more

I told the doctor the type of contacts I usually wear which were an older style and she recommended that a couple other types that I try. I told her that I was on a budget and my old ones only cost about $30 a box and wouldnt like to spend much more. I told her I would be willing to try a newer model as long as they weren't a great deal more expensive. She told me that she couldnt tell me the exact price (I would have to talk to the intake woman at the desk) but that it shouldnt be too much more. This was a year ago and I havent been able to afford contacts since. The prescription she wrote cost $170 per order and the brand of contact cannot be changed without another exam. I completely wasted my money going there because she was trying to push the most expensive brands. I cannot believe she had no idea what the approximate cost was. read more

PUSHY ass salesman - really tried to hustle my wife into scheduling this and ordering that during MY appointment (AFTER some very polite and firm declining). That I was charged for the glasses without my knowledge (I'd have happily paid at pickup or responded to an invoice or email) well in advance of delivery (my wife noticed the [not small] charge on our bank account yesterday - that could have really screwed our finances, had she not happened to check our balance) is beyond infuriating and presumptuous. We have a family of four and could have kept them in business for decades, but...now? This relationship ends the moment I pick up my glasses. Not remotely recommended. read more

My fiancé and I have been here a few times since the remodel (love it) for glasses, contacts, and prescription sunglasses. The store is clean and organized with a wide selection of frames. Sales associates are friendly and knowledgeable, they take the time to explain how we can maximize from our benefits. I love coming to this location because I can always browse the aisles while I wait, but that has been rare since my order is always ready for pickup when I come. Made an appointment for my husband and myself, it was the first 2 of the day. They didn't open the business until then actual appointment time, so we were delayed 20 mins. then then lady in front helping us wrote all my husbands information down on a piece of paper and then proceeded to leave it laying around, i don't believe she even realized i took it. when my husband ordered his glasses he was not given any options. when i order my readers and was told they would be 150.00 after my very good insurance, i have a heart attack. when i question everything i realized she didn't give me any options and was selling me the most expensive stuff for readers. I explained i will take the plastic lenses and actually had to fight with her to get the plastic that she wouldn't and i quote "put on a dog". If it is so bad why sell it. My husband and I both had coupons which we were assured were applied and we come to find out there were not. the eye doctor told my husband he had the wrong type of contacts for extended wear and she wanted him to try new ones. After i left i felt i was run over by a used car salesman. I looked up my husbands contacts and found he was wearing the correct type baush and lomb pure vision, and the ones she ordered were just the next version, pure vision 2, no real difference. i went back and spoke with a different person to find out the morning lady was the manager, i had my coupons applied and got a refund. after 2 weeks of waiting we called and found our glasses and m husbands trail pair of contact were in. when we arrived to pick them up we were then informed if he wanted the contacts it was another 45.00. hmmmm is this because i had my coupons applied and they wanted the money back, i cannot find any list of fees for services on either the web or in store, we decided to order contact online and and save ourselves a fortune. i called target corporate and they are not helpful "it is lease space". i called the store manager and he really went out of his way to help in this problem but alas, no one has reached out on this from either target corporate and the eye place. it is a shame target is allowing this business to lease their name and drag it through the mud. read more

The staff on site were rude and on a power trip. It's obvious they don't care about their customers. They told me that I needed show up early to my appointment but didn't take me until 20+ minutes after with no updates or a care in the world that I had been waiting in a seemingly empty waiting room. It is so obvious that they don't care about their customers and it's a shame because Target is such a great company and it's horrible that this optical site goes completely against what Target's customer service should be like. I will never come back to this site and I highly do not recommend. read more
