They even told me to come in as often as I wanted because they were basically free. They never gave me a cost estimate because they said it was covered. 2 years later I get a bill for over $1k because apparently it wasn't covered and in the entire 2 years (over a dozen visits I had in that office) they never once told me that I owed them money. They just kept letting it build up. I would never have gotten this service if I had known it was costing me money each time. They never once told me there was a deductible in the 2 YEARS I came to the office. Only kept continually telling me it was 'completely covered' by insurance. I didn't even know they were billing my medical insurance and not my eye insurance because it was a 'medical' service. They didn't explain any of that. I did complain and they did write off some of the cost, but they are still expecting me to pay several hundred dollars for a treatment I would have turned down at the very beginning if they had told me there were any cost. The fact that it was 2 years of fees building up before they let me know is ridiculous. The whole thing feels like a scam. I shouldn't have to pay any fees, but I'm done arguing. I just hope that this review warns others to at least don't take their word for anything and double check your own insurance even if they tell you things are covered. And make sure you are asking if they are billing eye insurance or medical. I always thought it was weird they kept trying to upsell additional tests, etc, but didn't think it was a big deal because you can turn those down. But I should have gone with my first instincts and found a different Dr. after my first visit.

I have been to this office for 2 visits. My first visit was for an eye exam with Dr. Kristina Dea…read more I came in and a technician did the vision pressure and light testing with me. Dr. Dea did a thorough exam to get me set up with my first pair of glasses ever. She explained things well. I then went over to the glasses section to pick out a pair of frames and had my measurements taken and the technician also let me try on glasses outside to see what they look like in the daylight. I returned 2 weeks later to have my eyes dilated for the rest of the exam as I was not able to have them dilated at my first visit. I had my 2nd exam with Dr. Rebekah Klein. She was great too! It was in this visit that my glasses were ready for pick up. I got progressive glasses because I have some vision loss for distance and it's been really hard to read on my phone. So they are pretty much worn only for driving and when in my phone. I feel I am still getting used to the glasses when driving. I also want to comment that the front desk staff have been nice and have returned my calls quickly when I have had to contact the office.

She is very thorough and explains things well. I'm also very impressed with the staff at Ventura Optometric Vision Care. The workers at the front desk are unfailingly courteous and efficient. Let me give you an example of how efficient this place is. When your glasses are ready, the office sends you a notification. Contrary to what you might expect, you don't need to schedule an appointment to pick them up. You can just drop by anytime and they will have someone available to take care of any adjustments needed to ensure a comfortable fit. So convenient! The location, on Victoria is also very convenient. As is the private parking lot. The waiting room is spacious and reasonably comfortable. There are magazines for people without phones. There is also a children's play area. Oh, and they have a pretty huge selection of frames here too. Frames for days. So many frames. I mean really a lot. Maybe like a thousand. I'm not kidding. Maybe more. I set an appointment and when I arrived the office was nearly empty I had to wait for the optician lady to return from lunch or break. It took about 20 minutes of her typing on her computer with very little interaction. 7 to 10 days for my glasses. After 2 weeks I was called and told my glasses were ready. The lady hands me a bag with my glasses, I look inside the bag and she asks if I want to try them on. Of course. They fit okay. When I get to the car and put on one of the glasses I noticed a black ink mark on each lens,that I had to clean off. Maybe I was spoiled by my old eye doc. He would personally meet with patients picking up glasses, make sure they fit perfectly and then clean them. I'll be looking for a new optometrist.
