Kind caring efficient doctors and assistants. They answered all my questions and were able to prescribe my Vuity drops which my last doctor refused to do. They have the latest technology so you don't have to get dilated for exams! They are a complete business with everything from your basic contacts and glasses to glaucoma, cataract, retina and field of vision testing. My eye condition is complicated and they were able to help me. Women run this place which is an added bonus. Short wait times and plenty of parking for the win! read more

After the technician initially checked my eyes with all the latest high tech diagnostic equipment, Dr. Castillo examined my eyes and explained exactly what I needed and why. This optometry is hands down my favorite Optometry spot . From the way they handle their patients, scheduling/booking, eye exams , communication , environment , selection - everything was top notch . I typically provide feedback off service , environment & inventory , and overall , Silver Strand exceeded all areas. I was able to book an appt same day (unheard of) & my insurance was verified before I arrived which made the flow of going in and getting my daughter's exam a breeze . The staff was warm and welcoming , the place was clean and organized , and we were seen immediately upon arrival . Once we were in , the entire routine process for a first time patient took about 30-45 min . Starting off , my daughter got photos of her eyes and the assistant was communicative , she explained her every step , which alleviated my daughters anxiety . Into the actual exam Dr.Castillo had the same kind bedside manner. After the exam was finished we sat down in the glasses try on area and looked over all the different frames options ranging from Michael Kors , Ray Ban , Coach , McAllister , etc. Frames were affordable with high end ranging $100-$220. During the invoice process , costs were broken down for easy understanding . With my PPO I paid around $65 out of pocket for exams and check up not including the frames or lenses ( all cost will vary by insurance so please do not expect to pay the same , this is just a general minimum idea of what you'd spend) . I am so excited to have finally gotten the opportunity to meet Dr. castillo in person; last year I had Dr. Steensma one last time prior to the transition and was informed about her with high praise. I was not let down by her amount of knowledge, assistance with making sure I got what I needed, and just all around friendliness. I always recommended this office to people due to the cleanliness, nice machines, and selection of frames; but, now I am beyond delighted to have such a great optometrist nearby to hopefully be able to see for a long time. read more

I tried to resolve everything that's gone wrong with my effort to get and correct eyeglasses I got from this store, to no avail. I gave them plenty of opportunities: complained initially that they failed to call me when they came in (I had to ask four different times) at third week after ordering, then three different people a week later when I went in to check the progress of the glaucoma drops. Finally, someone actually checked and found they were in "a bin in the back", but they never called, and I don't know how long they'd have sat there before someone noticed, which they never apologized for either. During that visit, they rechecked my vision and had me wear my thrift store glasses, noting false readings. Next when checking the glaucoma I mentioned that and he rechecked and noted the vision results properly. He bothered to look and find the glasses when I asked the third time and though they were horribly off I agreed to wear them to "get used to them". After a week of headaches, I informed them I complained they were so bad they might even be someone elses or the initial exam wasn't done right. They said the doctor had to address it but she would be out for another week (seemed odd she wasn't there for the medical aspect too). She avoided me at every inquiry then finally said (again through a staffer) that I couldn't return the glasses and no refund would be considered. After a month and a half the only time I ever saw Dr. Castillo was the initial visit. Not only didn't they provide me with documentation of their policies, they even refused to give me a receipt if I were to bring the glasses back. A so-called provider could not be less cooperative. I'm taking further legal steps to resolve this for myself and hopefully protect others who might also otherwise fall prey to this scheme that went wrong at every turn. It will include a comparative exam by another O.D. of my eyes and this very faulty product. Lastly, I was misled by all the glowing reviews on their site, so some balanced reporting is also in order. I recently broke my only pair of glasses and since my friend brags endlessly about how great SILVERSTRAND OPTOMETRY is I decided to give them a try! They got me in the very next day and with them being extremely busy( Awsome friendly customer service and word of mouth) they got to me within minutes , gave me all the eye test( doing some twice to make sure I was relaxed and getting the true results), finishing with showing me there extensive eyeglass selection. But what I appreciated most was Kimberly Castillo( OD), took the time to type up a letter to Kaiser ( my advantage plan) and had it ready before I left! Everyone there is extremely knowledgeable and helpful from start to finish!!! I give them 10++++ gold stars for a truly first run and enjoyable OPTOMETRIST OFFICE!!! Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant purchasing experience as a first-time new customer from this business, and cannot and will not recommend this business to anyone for the sole purpose to prevent them from experiencing the same or similar circumstances! Their lack of professional service, lack of courtesy, lack of honesty, and refusing to provide a refund on eyeglasses that caused the lens to pop out of the frame while driving was very unsafe, frustrating and discouraging to me to resume business! I called as a new patient hoping to get in ASAP and they were able to work with my schedule and I got an appt that Monday. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted and made to feel comfortable. My eye dr retired and they took over his clients it took over a month to get appointment they sent me several emails telling me if i cancel the appointment there could be a charge. My appointment was at 2:30 then they sent me another email saying it was 2:40 to get there early to do paperwork so I do so I get there at 2:20 for 2:40 appointment! I waited for 40 minutes, nobody said anything to me. There was three people ahead of me. I asked how long the wait was. They said it would be over an hour to be seen. This is not acceptable. My time is not free. They were so much about telling me how much they would charge me if I cancel or don't show, this is ridiculous! No call saying they were running late! My time is not free and this is not acceptable when I waited for long amount of time to get the appointment then waited over 40 minutes without anybody saying anything to me that they were running late when I asked to change the appointment. She said this could happen again. This is not acceptable. Horrible horrible service, I will not go back. I will find another doctor again. My time is not free. I took time off for work to sit there and wait and they didn't have the audacity to call me to tell me they were running behind. I came in to get my wife's glasses repaired. Silver Strand Optometry personnel replaced a missing screw for one of the hinges. When I asked how much the repair would cost, she replied that it would be free. I was delighted and surprised to see that it was free. The staff had been quite helpful. I was referred to Silver Strand by a coworker. It was easy to make an appointment and I was able to complete the new patient paperwork in advance to reduce time spent when checking in. After I checked in, I was called to begin my visit less than five minutes later. The Medical Assistant who performed testing was very courteous and explained every test she was performing.
