A little bit of background. I have had LASIK/PRK and several operations to clean up the messes it caused, and then needed another surgery called cornea cross linking in order to stabilize my vision after. I will probably need cornea transplants down the line, but will cross that bridge when I get there. I also have known 4 people that have committed suicide because of botched LASIK. It was shocking to me today that when I took my daughter out of school to visit Target Optical in Avon Indiana to get her first pair of glasses, that their new patient uptake form asked if you are interested in LASIK. I inquired immediately as to why this would be the case, and the absolute rudest guy on earth said it was to refer those that want it. I do not participate in companies that get kick back for this, and there is no reason to refer anyone that is interested in LASIK to anyone else unless a kickback is involved, why refer someone who can get injured when not referring anyone guarantees no harm? I informed them I have had about 9 different eye surgeries because of this, and why in the world would they ask this question in their new patient uptake form. I was asked to leave, and they would not see me or my daughter. It was then a fight with that same rude guy to get the school excuse slip to give to my daughter's school to return her after. I will now need to take her out again to see an eye doctor at a later date. Thank you to that wonderful woman who did give me the school excuse slip that is required by law to get my daughter out of school for that visit which we were ejected from. One person that works there was a normal functioning adult. I tried to get the forms back in order to take a picture of them for this review, and that guy no longer allowed me access to that paperwork. Our entire family came here for eye exams on 2 different days. Both eye doctors were wonderful and took more time than where we went last time. The staff is great and helps w picking out glasses. If you do not want glasses they are not high pressure. They even helped get me a better deal than what my insurance would have paid. I got a $59 frame w progressive lenses for $199. That made me thrilled. I paid nearly $450 at LensCrafters and $500 at a local place. My daughters glasses were just over $100. Plus our glasses came in very fast. We will be coming back. read more

Target Optical - Store - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Avon, Indiana

This was my 2nd year visiting this location for my annual eye check. I switched to this office because 1) let's face it, I'd be at Target anyway, and 2) I was tired of being relentlessly upsold at another local optician (hint: rhymes with "gossip"). The staff here is very friendly and greets you quickly. You can schedule (and reschedule) appointments online, over the phone, or they even have a schedule posted in-store that shows what times are available for walk-ins. They have stylish frames at all price points, from Merona to Versace, and they aren't pushy at all. During my visit today, they were having issues with their computer system, which means I actually had to see both doctors for different parts of my exam. They handled it well, apologizing profusely, and I was still in and out in around 40 minutes. I'll continue to visit them for my eye care. read more

No where on their website does it state that the eye center is closed for lunch for an hour. I drove a half hour to pick up my glasses that were ready only to find out I had to wait a hour for their lunch break to be over!!. Never heard of such a thing before! Will never purchase here again. read more

I have a protection plan on my son's glasses. He is 4 so I knew it would only be a matter of time before they were in the toilet. When they glasses broke (long story) I went in to have them looked at. I literally waited 30 mins before I was helped. I understand they get busy but it was annoying. This place is always busy so I think they are understaffed during the week. Also I had the joy of finding out the protection plan for the glasses only lasts for the first 3 months for repairs. So I had to pay $25. I was pissed as I paid for a full year protection plan and that was not brought up initially (I honestly couldn't even find it in the small print. ) Kind of a bummer Target Optical. read more

I took my daughter here for an eye appointment because I had a feeling glasses were in her future. The doctor was so friendly and kind with her which I appreciated because for some reason, my daughter doesn't like the eye doctor at all. After her appt we picked out the cutest Cat and Jack glasses, and the ladies in the front were super helpful and sweet getting us squared away. We love Target and having the eye center inside makes it a double win for us! read more

So, I hadn't had an eye exam in almost 20 years (ironic, since I worked in health and wellness benefits for almost 4 years), so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and do it, since I knew my vision was less than perfect. I went to the Target optical web site, which was fantastic and made booking an appointment online a breeze. They had a variety of appointments available for the next morning and even had 2 doctors on staff that morning as it was a Saturday. I arrived 15 minutes before the appointment and was immediately greeted and provided with the remining paperwork needed as a new patient. Once that was done, I waited approximately another 5 minutes and was brought back for a pre-test by a technician and then taken to the very friendly optometrist. She explained everything as we went along. Sure enough, I needed glasses. I decided to peruse their extensive selection there and found the perfect pair. The friendly technicians helped me through every step of the way. They were even running a promotion for 50% off their best lenses, which actually made them cheaper than the mid level in this case. Overall, it was a great experience for someone who had no clue what he was doing. My only minor gripe was that they're not in network for United Healthcare and as such, I had to submit my own claim. read more

I was in and out for an eye exam and my glasses arrived in less time than I was told. The staff was friendly enough and appeared very knowledgable without being pushy. I changed my mind at the last minute about something and they didn't seem the least bit annoyed about having to void out the transaction. I like it that they're open later on weeknights and that you can shop before or after your visit. read more

The optometrist that performed my exam was very polite and seemed to know what he was doing. He finished the exam daily quickly and I was escorted out to see the frames. I went with the ray ban frame and the man said that my prescription would be ready in 10-12 days. It was done way before that and I received in email in 6 days. I was very pleased with that the glasses were made so fast, I would have been even more please if they were done CORRECTLY! The lenses were completely blurred and different than what I was promised. I will call the location later today and see what they can do to make amends. I will keep my fellow yelpers updated on my experiences with this location. ~Kyle read more

My husband and I have been customers of Avon Target Optical for years. Earlier this month I went in to get new lenses in my glasses and buy a new pair as well. I was asked by Bill if I wanted the blue light blockers on my glasses. I said not if they have any kind of tint or darkening - I hate that - he said they don't tint or darken at all. When they came in, they had an obvious almost grayish tint. I immediately said that I don't want these. Bill said that he had never seen the blue light blocker with a tint. I was leaving on vacation so he said try them for a week and come back if you still don't like them. I hated them. I want back the next weekend. I was being helped by a nice younger fellow, explaining why I was back when an associate named Julia barged into our conversation and said "No, the blue filter is not tinted. Your lenses don't have them." I said that they did have them and explained that Bill said he had never seen this before and that it must be a factory defect and that I wanted to get replacement lenses. She said "Let me see your glasses," grabbed them and pulled up my info. She then proceeded to look at my glasses and compared them to the prescription info on the screen and said in a loud voice, "This isn't your prescription! Can you even see out of these?!?" I said yes they are and yes I could. The implication being that I was bringing in an old pair of glasses in to get free lenses. The place was packed and I was embarrassed and upset. Bill thankfully was in the store with a customer. I turned to Bill and said "Do you remember me and the problem I had with the tint?", and he said yes. Julia got upset and said that we don't need to bother Bill, he's with a customer. I was accused of trying to STEAL! You better believe that I was going to bother Bill. She then said that yes, this is my prescription but she was looking at the glasses upside down. She didn't realize that I had progressive lenses and was looking at them upside down. So she embarrassed me, and herself, for nothing. And no apology. I went back a couple of days ago to see if my lenses were in. I told a young woman associate that I didn't want to deal with Julia and told her why. Julia knew this and still inserted herself into my visit. She is pushy and aggressive and insulting. Once I get my lenses and glasses, my husband and I will never come back. Shame on you for having someone like this. read more

I absolutely love Target so I was really disappointed in the way Target Optical is run. When I took my daughter for an appointment we waited 15 minutes beyond her scheduled appointment time. I let it go because the doctor she typically sees is nice. Today I went for my own exam and waited while the staff stood and talked amongst themselves before I was given my paper work to fill out. The exam went well and the doctor was nice. When I was asked if I had any questions I proceeded to ask why my contacts were causing my eyes to itch and water. I also explained that after wearing my contacts all day I would end up with itchy red eyes, stuffy nose, and sneezing. Long story short this was me apparently consenting to a contact fitting. I wasn't told I'd be charged for. The trial pair of contacts had the same effect on my eyes only 3 hours after my appointment. When I called I was told the doctor thought I could have an intolerance to the brand they gave me today and they'd have a different brand ready for me to pick up. I don't feel like my concerns were addressed the second time and there was more concern with getting me to purchase contacts. We won't be returning to Target Optical in the future. read more

The associates are so rude and help walk-ins over appointment customers, even in the middle of an appointment checkout. They can't even find contacts that are ready and don't believe you that you received a call saying they were ready until you almost have to prove it with the voicemail they left. And the solution to a cyst on my eyelid that the doctor found was to sleep in my contacts if they don't bother me and he wasn't even going to look at it until I asked him again about it.
