On December 11, 2025, I went into Target Optical. I had a prescription for progressive lenses that my eye surgeon wrote for me after I had double cataract surgery. The manager's name was Nicole and she was less than welcoming. I am disabled and in an electronic cart and she was made because I was blocking the way. When she finally talked to me, I described what I wanted and told her that my insurance will pay for everything and I get this benefit once a year. I was well past the last time that I had gotten my previous glasses. She argued with me and said that I would not be able to afford any frames. This went on for at least 1/2 hour. I was so distressed because I really need the new glass after having surgery. Bottom line was that she asked me about add-on items, and if I said I didn't need them, i.e. tinted lenses, I declined. Then she told me to go look at frames and she showed me one partition with about 30 frames. She said that's all my insurance would cover. That's a bold-faced lie. I've had this exact same insurance since 2012. I like pink frames and there was only one in the store. So I tried them on and took them to her. She was measuring me and said that the person making the glasses could not use those frames! Finally I did find pink frames but when I brought them to her she quoted me $100 extra. I have never been so mad. It was like I was being robbed. So yesterday my husband and I went to pick up the glasses, well over a month later. Nicole did not call me, no one did. I called there and they said I never answer the phone, another lie. I am elderly and disabled and I'm almost always at home. Next the lady that was helping me came out with a pair of huge lenses and frames that were olive green!!!!! Nothing about this was right. Oh did I mention that I had to pay in advance and I was charged $220??? This lady argued with me and told me if I didn't want the glasses (that looked like puke), I would not get my money back. There are obviously a wide range of reviews here, but my experience was great. The doctor here is wonderful and extremely thorough. She seems to really know her stuff and was very efficient as well. The thing that I think is resulting in the bulk of the negative reviews here is the staff (like, the people that work in the shop but are not involved in giving the exam). I do not wear glasses but needed to order contacts, and that went fine. However, another couple was in ordering glasses and the woman working had to call the other man over several times to figure out the ordering system or something. It seemed just like there were lots of issues if you don't come in knowing exactly what you want. No issues surrounding checking out for me though. I would totally recommend making an appointment with the doctor, getting a copy of the prescription, and then ordering glasses or contacts from another company/website. read more

We had extremely bad experience here - it was absolutely the worst experience in the last 20 years during which we had more than 20 pairs of eyeglasses. My wife needed a new pair of glasses. We used to do Costco but decided to give Target a shot, but that was the beginning of the nightmare. When writing this review, we had already gone to this place for 3 times in the last 2 months, but still didn't have the glasses. My wife ordered high-index lens, but when we came the 1st time to pick up, the lens were so thick that there was no way that it was high-index. The staff sent us back and requested the lab to make a new one. We came back for the 2nd time to pick up, but the lens were still as thick as the first time. The lady at the front desk thought it was because of the frame, so my wife selected a new frame. We then came back for the 3rd time - the lens were finally OK, but the lady there were unable to adjust the glasses to fit well on my wife. She admitted that she was not experienced enough to do this, and asked us to come back later when her manager is around. SERIOUSLY?? After 2 months and 4 visits, we still cannot get a pair of glasses?? I would strongly recommend any of the viewers to avoid this place at all cost. These people are unprofessional and irresponsible - this must be the worst business I've ever seen. read more

My scheduled exam with Dr. West went very well. Since I had the option to fill out my form online, I basically showed up and was seen right on time. I felt Dr. West sincerely cared for my well being and went over some options for my selection of contact lens. I will definitely return again for my annual exam. read more

Let me start off by saying the optician himself was very good. I'm a diabetic and also have a rare congenitive eye disease, and the optician was on the ball. He was a pleasure to work with. Also, they have nice frames, some great name brands like RayBan, Oakley, Armani Exchange and so on. The big problem with this location is the customer service of the optical itself is terrible. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses, Clear Oakley's and RayBan sunglasses. I spent nearly $500 out of pocket above what my insurance covered. I dealt with the lady with the head scarf (I later learned her name is Ilhan). She said 5 to 7 days for the clear and 10 days for the sunglasses. She told me she'd call when they both came in. My current prescription was giving me headaches so I asked that she call me as soon as any come in and I'll come back twice, and she said no problem. 5 days passed, 7 days passed, 10 days passed, nothing. On the 11th day I called, 22 times throughout the day. They NEVER answer the phone. I left a message, they didn't return it. So I stopped in on my way home and a different lady said nothing came in yet, saying "We don't get deliveries on weekends so maybe Monday." She said it several times till I finally said, "Today is Thursday." Then she was like, "Oh, then maybe tomorrow." The 12th day, still no call all day, so towards the end of the day I started calling, and calling, and calling. 15 times, nobody answers the phone. So after work I drive there and on my way I keep calling, over 10 times. As soon as the voicemail picked up I hung up and called back, until around the 12th time the girl finally answered the phone. I asked if my glasses were in and she said my sunglasses "Had been in" and the clear just came in. That means when I came in the day before the sunglasses were there and the other lady said they weren't. My insurance recommends Target optical, but I do not recommend this one. After talking to several coworkers that also live in the area, they all say they prefer to go to a different Target optical than this one. Next time I think I'll go to the one at Northfield. it's the one my coworker prefers, and now I know why. IT GETS WORSE! 4 months later I lose my glasses. I go back thinking since they still had my prescription I had to go there again. They no longer have my frames in stock, so I end up buying them online and order the lenses from them. I bring them the frame and they say they'll call when they come in, "7 to 10 business days." (sound familiar?) 12 days later still no call, so I call them. Diana says it could take 10 days. I say it's been 12, she says "oh, they should be here." No duh. She says she'll call the lab and call me back. She never does. The next day I go in and Ilhan is there and she says she'll have to call me Monday when the lab opens. Monday she calls me and tells me they've lost the frames I brought in and I can come in and pick another pair. I tell her I don't want a different pair, that's why I bought those frames online and brought them in. She was very flippant and rude, saying "frames get lost, it happens." I demanded they find the same frames themselves and replace them and she said she'll tell her manager when he comes back from vacation. This place is downright horrible and their employees are incompetent, rude and useless. Don't waste your time coming here. read more

I have been going to this target Optical for the last 3 years now, and I never had an issue until these last 8 months. There is a completely new staff and they provide some of the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I entered the clinic because I was due for an eye exam and needed a new pair of glasses and contacts. Now a little bit of important info, I am a young Hispanic female (who actually does not speak a word of Spanish, nor do I have any hint of an accent). Here is my encounter with the associate: Me: Hi, I am due for an eye exam so I can get a new pair of glasses and contacts. Him: Ok, I need you to fill out this form, would you like English or Spanish? Me: Well, I would like the language that I am currently speaking to you in. Him: Well then what nationality are you? Me: Umm, my nationality is American, but if you're curious about my ethnicity, I am Puerto Rican. But I speak only English... SO after being racially profiled, I got my exam, ordered my glasses and went on my way. When I went to pick up my glasses, they were in the wrong frames. The same associate from above takes the frames I ordered off the display, pops those lenses out and proceeds to put my lenses in. Shortly after this, my glasses became very loose and continued to fall off of my face. I went back to Target Optical to have my glasses fixed. The SAME associate then says " Jesus, what did you do to these? Have you been sleeping in these?"...He then looks and discovers the piece where the screw goes is broken, so the screw wont stay in place. I paid for insurance so I ordered a replacement pair. 10 days later I get a call that my glasses are in and lo and behold, they are the wrong color...AGAIN. So they sent them back. 15 days goes by and I stop by the clinic to check on the status...they were sent in the wrong color for a 3rd time. By this point I am beyond frustrated and decided I will go elsewhere for my eye care. I asked for a refund and for a copy of my recent eye exam. A new associate gives me my refund in cash (I paid with a card) and does not give me a receipt. As for the copy of my eye exam? He wrote my prescription on a blank paper and told me "This is all a optical clinic will need".....Which of course is not true. Fast forward to this week, I went to a different optical clinic and as suspected, they would not accept the "hand written" prescription. I had to then call Target Optical and ask them to fax it. 45 minutes later, I called back to check the status and the associate was very rude. "Ma'am I have actual patients here". After I got the fax, I noticed there was only the eyeglass Rx and not the contacts Rx. They then tell me that my last eye exam was only for glasses because I "never told them I wanted contacts" (mind you I had gotten 6 boxes of contacts the year prior, and was due for more). Never again will I be going to target optical in Aurora. These people are very rude and beyond incompetent. read more

I have been using this Optical shop for three years and I am very satisfied with the care I have received. The first two years, I saw the male doctor (sorry, am bad with names), and this last year, I saw the female doctor. The male doctor is no longer practicing there, but I received the same level of care from the female doctor. They did not accept either my VSP or Tricare for the eye exam, but they did give me a discount on my yearly supply of contact lenses. I have horrible eyesight, so my contact lenses are pretty expensive. There is no hard sale for prescription eye wear. I did not change my frames, simply got new lenses. I did receive a hard sell on the insurance, which I bought. I will not buy this insurance again, since I primarily wear contact lenses and didn't feel like it was worth the cost. It is easy to get an appointment to see the doctor and they accept walk-ins (or so the sign says). Due to my horrible eyesight, they do not carry trial contact lenses for me. The turn around time on ordering my trials is always quicker than the estimate they gie me. The turn around time on my orders have also been quicker than the estimate. read more

Love love love this place. I've had glasses since I was in elementary school and my vision is very bad, so I've seen an eye doctor my whole life. This place is probably one of the best ones I've been to ever. They have some selection for frames, (I'm extremely picky) but I mostly just go here for my contact lenses and my annual eye exam. They always have crazy good deals on their frames though, if I wasn't so picky maybe I'd get them from there. The doctor is really nice and approachable too, unlike most creepy eye doctors. If your looking for a place that can get you in like next day I would definitely call this place. Also, if you're a red card holder you get the 5% off! Or if you're a team member you get your 10% of added on too! Maybe I'll stop being so picky and will go find some sunglasses read more

If you have other options, I would not go to this Target optical. I have had frustrating experiences trying to order contact lenses through less expensive companies after going here-- they do not offer any form of digital communication (e.g., health portal or e-mailing a prescription) and when they filled out my prescription via pen and paper, they did so with insufficient information to place an order as well as information that did not match what they told me in person. read more

My latest experience with the Target Optical retail store compels me to write this review. I want to start by saying the eye doctor here is awesome, and I am extremely happy with him each time my husband and I go in for our appointments. We started going here while living in Denver, and now we live 7 hours away in Durango but will continue to make the trip once a year for our eye appointments just to see Dr. Tim. However, the incompetence I've encountered with the Target Optical retail management and associates is absolutely appalling and unacceptable. I bought frames and lenses in 2013 from this store and this year my prescription changed. I LOVED my frames so I just wanted the lenses replaced. Since we live in Durango, I opted to leave my glasses and have them shipped to me after the new lenses were put in. I was told this was completely routine and the store does things like this often. I was shocked to receive the glasses in a shoe box sized box with absolutely no protection and not even a case. Yes, the associate at this store chose to ship my glasses this way with such a lack of common sense I still find this whole scenario unbelievable. My frames were scratched and bent and the lenses were literally popping out of the frames and had chips. Upon contacting the store manager, Patrick, his first reaction was to put the blame on UPS. This is in no way a UPS issue, it's a pure stupidity issue on the associate's part. After a long discussion, Patrick agreed to send me new frames and lenses free of charge. He sent me a pair that were slightly similar to what I had, but unfortunately they do not fit properly and one of the lenses isn't even installed properly. Quality control is definitely lacking here. After getting the regional manager involved, she agreed to refund me the cost of the lenses I purchased as well as the "value" of my frames. I do appreciate the fact she had a great deal of empathy when speaking with me, but I now have to try to find affordable glasses here in Durango once I wait 10-14 days for a refund check. I anticipate having to spend at least $100 out of pocket to get something even close to what I had after accounting for my refund check. I highly recommend going elsewhere to purchase glasses. My appointment was October 9th and it is now almost a month later. Not only do I no longer have glasses to wear, which I definitely need, but I have to start the whole process over again. I must say this was a complete disappointment. I have not changed insurance providers and when I got there (20 min early) they said they couldn't "find" my insurance. As soon as they pulled up my account they saw who I had used last time and lo and behold there was insurance. So I asked what my co-pay would be for a contact eye exam. The girl totally blew me off and then the doctor came to bring me back. They didn't even have the right exam scheduled for me! So, after all that, I didn't get the exam and I would not go to this target optical, ever. I felt that the front desk staff was very lazy. I made an appointment online that I had to reschedule. I called and it was super easy to reschedule and I went in today for my exam. Dr. Tim was very friendly and explained the issues that I was having with astigmatism. The staff helped me select my glasses and they were very helpful and not pushy at all. There are 7 people in my family who wear glasses or contacts. The ladies that work in this office are the best. The turn around time to get your glasses or contacts is usually much quicker than they state. They do a great job of not just sizing your glasses for you but helping to pick out glasses that will work best for you. My daughter has a very small nose, we were advised which type of nose pads worked best for her so we didn't buy the wrong frames. One pair we bought for our son he broke within 2 weeks of getting them. The glasses come with an awesome warranty and we got a brand new pair free! This is now the only place the 7 of us will shop for glasses! read more

I go here for the doctor. It's a mess to get to right now bc of the light rail work but I've had experiences with receiving bad prescriptions so I did not want to see anyone else. I will also say I enjoyed the staff a lot more than I have in the past. read more
