I decided to revisit Dinkytown a few weeks ago, which is where the University of Minnesota is. I noticed this Target that I had never visited. I wanted to check it out. I parked on the street. It's paid parking. I figured out later on that Target has its own lot that's kind of hidden to me. Oh, well. I know now. Think of this Target as a subset of a typical mega Target store. It's smaller in size, but it has everything you truly need. It's geared towards students and residents in the area who can walk over to it, as opposed to a shopper in suburbia hauling way too much stuff into a minivan. There was a ton of Lego merchandise. I assume that Target has a partnership with Lego. It was cool seeing Lego reusable bags and apparel. What stood out for me was the grocery section. It was impressive. There was lots of variety. I particularly loved the selection of sugar-free items. I ended up getting some Lily's chocolates. It also has Zevia in the pop aisle. If you're into PopSockets, they are heavily reduced here. I got one with lemons and it was $3. Ridiculous! You can get apparel here, but it's limited. If you get your wardrobe from Target, you'd be better off going to a larger Target store. Staff are super friendly here. I had a woman cash out my items. There are also self-checkouts, but I like ones with people more. It's a decent store and it much needed for locals in Dinkytown. Smartest target idea have small shop close to the university and the dorms. They have everything here but at a smaller scale. They even have a pharmacy. The place is very clean and today I noticed they have double sided self check out. And I noticed there was young lady cleaning after every customer at the self check out. Mostly students come here. They have eggs vegetables everything you need to cook and eat. If you have a target application you can save on many items. read more

They're making a movie actually about how non-white employees here are controlled by white employees and their personalities sent to the "sunken place". Especially in locations in Georgia. It's called "Tar-Get Out." Tiny little neighbourhood Target that is more like a convenience store and is priced accordingly. It's a great little stop for all of the Minnesota students but I don't like the imposing security guard on the door, who stared at everyone suspiciously, including himself honestly (long story), and of course it would be nice if there was a little local convenience store here instead of a Target convenience store, especially considering that they're charging actual convenience store prices rather than Target prices which are not particularly cheap anyway. This Target was their test of an urban footprint store especially near a campus. There is a decent selection of food, and not just five rows of junk, but decent including a fair selection of produce and dairy products. I was surprised at the large electronics section but then realized at a location serving mostly 18-24 yr olds this a norm. Mix with the staples of life this store is catering to the local needs. The check outs are mostly self-serve but there are least two people checking the old way to keep the lines moving. There is still a large selection of chips and candy to keep the levels up for all night studies. read more

This review is primarily for the pharmacy staff. The actual store is a smaller Target that carries a more limited selection of items. However, of the items it does carry, they are always well stocked. This was my go-to Target during the peak of quarantine when other stores had empty shelves. Now onto the pharmacy. I am super queazy when it comes to needles, but I have come here for two flu shots and my TDAP vaccine. Each time I have come in, the process has been completely painless and easy, for someone who hates getting pricked. The past two times, I didn't even notice when the needle went in! The pharmacy staff has always been super helpful, and chill about letting my partner hold my hand. On top of that, they are super clear with insurance/payment info. When I needed my TDAP, I called in advance and they ran my insurance and gave me a clear, honest answer about they payment in under 5 minutes. I have never even had this efficient/smooth of an experience at a Dr. office...it's usually a runaround between calling the doctor's office and the insurance company. And by the way! You get a $5 gift card when you get your flu shot here! read more

So frustrating not being able to find parking. Even more frustrating that they don't have a parking garage. And nowhere on their website does it say they have no parking garage. If you arrive in a car, you're screwed. Why wouldn't they make that info available on their website? Grrr... read more

Great addition to the Dinkytown area. It's very convenient for the students in the area. There is free parking around the back and plenty of options. It's catered towards college students and is a very slimmed down target. I love shopping at Target and Target of Dinkytown is no different. Pricing is more than regular target stores though, but when you think about convenience... the upcharge is reasonable I guess. Especially if you don't have a car or time to go to the Super Targets of the world. Most transactions are completed via the kiosk, and those require credit card at the moment, no cash. They do have real workers on site as well. read more

We came here a couple of times when I was on vacation in Minneapolis. The store is really cheap in my opinion. Connected by "the skyway" on the second floor. Tons of great stuff like any other Target. Store was really clean as well. Employees were friendly too. read more

Everything is more expensive at this location and there are aggressive panhandlers who won't take no for an answer. Staff is either willfully ignorant or refuses to take action against these aggressive folks who guard their doors the way a troll guards a bridge. As if they're owed for your passage, also they say racist things and then oftentimes will act like you said something bad when you take offense, so stay far away! read more

The perfect addition of Dinkytown! I am so happy they decided to pilot the Target Express here on campus. It's a wonderful enhancement to the neighborhood and convenient for everyone around here. I think it's also very smart that there is a free parking ramp for shoppers right next door. This target is just the right size, not too big, not too small. It's big enough to not be considered a convenience/drug store like CVS but small enough for you to be in and out for a quick errand. Love that they sell electronics in here...wish they also sold clothes an shoes....though it would be bad news for my bank account. The product selection is not as robust as the stores--they mostly carry the up and up brand, but they have a little bit of everything which is great! read more

This mini target is a great idea for the university area. It kinda reminds me of the large Walgreens stores of Chicago. More than a drug store, but not a full big box. Has all the essentials a college kid, or in this case a 30-something may need. Which was just a padlock and some benadryl. They have mainly self checkouts, with many of them being card only stations, but this idea keeps the line moving quickly. My only complaint, and believe me, I get it's the area, but I can't parallel park to save my life, so I need some legit parking to help me out. read more

It's nice to have places near campus to pick up essentials when needed. I was curious to see what the small concept Target was like. It was larger than I expected with more variety in items too. This Target is located right in Dinky within walking distance of the university and several student housing spaces. It's small so it's not going to have everything but does have a lot more than you'd expect. I've come here for quick shopping trips to get kitchenware, food and other things. I've also never had to wait in line here, so it really is convenient! read more

Since the U has no grocery stores close to campus, Target ends up being the go to place for most college students for all food related purchases. You can imagine, as a result, it's always busy then. The wait lines can sometimes exceed 10-15 minutes to check out. Also, since they are super busy, they have a tough time keeping a lot of their items in stock. I don't think this is necessarily a dock on the store, just an unfortunate consequence of it being busy. The store is also very small and only offers a small selection of food, clothing, and electronics. I do not recommend going here if you are going grocery shopping; but if you need something small, it could serve your purpose. Street parking is available for those who want to shop there. Target does not validate any parking nearby. read more

TargetExpress opening has finally answered a lot of our prayers! College students have spent years trekking to the Quarry to get their groceries. It has always been such a hassle. With this new Express store, students now have the option to grab essentials more regularly. This Express will work toward solving the food desert that is the U. With the close proximity to the U and even 40 parking spots, pretty much everyone can utilize this store. They've got a limited selection, but employees instructed me to fill out the survey on my receipt with items that I hope to be in the store. Corporate is going to be paying close attention to this store for the next few months, so the likelihood of changes is high. Even with a smaller selection, Target manages to offer a bit of everything that larger stores offer. There are cosmetics, health care with a pharmacy, groceries with fresh fruit and vegetables, a small selection of electronics, and home (mostly dorm room) items. Don't expect to grab clothes items though, unless of course it is a Goldy Gopher t-shirt. read more

As a student, I think that Target Express has been a great addition to the neighborhood! Prices are fair, especially compared to the CVS and Walgreens on campus. Target Express seems to have found the perfect balance of options in the store. Even though it seems that they don't stock as many brands as the larger Targets, I never feel underwhelmed by my choices and can always find what I want. More than anything, what makes this store shine is its employees--I have had very positive experiences with staff. Everyone is so friendly and genuinely wants to help you have the best experience in the store. Though the lines may look long at peak hours, staff always call back up to the checkout and make sure everything is running smoothly. Overall, I would say that Target Express is the best, friendliest, cheapest convenience store on campus. read more

The Target in Dinky is located right off of University Ave and right off of campus. The location is great for students who live in Dinky who need to get their groceries. This target has a nice variety of grocery and everyday items and you can even find some UMN and Viking swag to purchase. I have used this Target when I needed to grab last minute class supplies for presentation, snacks, and even batteries. The only downside is that when you go during peak busy times it is super crowded and they usually dont have the staff needed to speed people through the line. They do have personal check out kiosks which is nice, however somehow you could wait quite a while to check out. You would think the line would move quicker. Overall this Target is great for students and people who live right off campus, however I would recommend going during down times. read more

Although this branch has a smaller selection compared to super targets, we would come back & recommend it to others. The dark haired clerk at the register the other day was really polite helpful & cared that we could find what we were looking for. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with Target Express. I was worried their prices would be inflated to match those of CVS and Walgreens nearby, but the prices are pretty comparable to what you'd pay for things at Target in the burbs. You can definitely tell they are explicitly marketing to the college age demographic, with shelves stacked full of Red Bull and ping pong balls prominently displayed. I would like to see reserved parking spots for car sharing services in the parking garage. And, I hope they get their Shopkick signal up and running so I can get kicks every time I shop here. read more

Smaller selection than other stores - but I enjoyed the fact that because it's on campus, it wasn't filled with a bunch of expensive versions of everything to try to get me to waste money. They know their audience, people who want a good deal on necessities so they can afford to splurge on the good stuff. There is a parking area that's free but it's small, enter on 5th a full city clock to the front entrance where it says "contract and retail parking only". Or go at 10pm after the meters are not enforced and park on the street right in front. read more

This is a convenient location. Just beware that prices are higher here compared to larger Target locations and the website. I've only shopped here for health items and prices are often between 15-20% higher. They do price match their website, however, but you have to specifically request that. read more

It's clean, it's cheaper than CVS or Walgreens and it's got a decent selection. It's not the full service grocery store that I think the neighborhood needs, but it's good! I like how nice the employees are, especially the makeup specialist who's usually there on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. read more

It's nice because it seems like they have everything I've ever gone in to get, and have both a cheap brand or a name brand..which is a nice option for myself, being a poor college student still! Convenient, but the checkout line is always long. As in, 10 minute wait minimum long. Always. And for the amount of business it sees, they rarely have more than 2 cashiers working at once. If you have the extra 10 minutes, go to a full sized target with more selection. read more

This is one of my favorite convenience stores! I love the newly built Target Express. It's a little bigger than your typical Walgreens or CVS but I like it! Prices are also a lot better compared to CVS or Walgreens. The place is excellent for students because it's nearby campus, and because prices aren't bad, it really isn't a bad place to shop. read more

This is not a well run store! There's nothing convenient about standing in a checkout line for 10 minutes.
