Everything is handmade by artisans, solid wood, and full of character, not mass-produced furniture pretending to be special. The new owner spent nearly two hours helping me sort through options, explaining woods, finishes, and layout decisions. He has a degree in interior design, and it absolutely shows. That experience is why I ended up buying everything for my condo from him except the sofa and bed. He was defensive and dismissive to my question, and then became pretentious: Speaking about how interior designers would recognize the character in these pieces and how their customers get the pieces stained to their tastes. He also reeked of cigarette smoke. Not at all what I'd expect from a store on the outskirts of Birmingham. They have tons of different home decor and other household items here. Especially during a holiday season, they have aisles and aisles dedicated to that holiday with neat, and high quality items. Around Christmas time especially. You always know when they have a sale going on here, because the lines can get pretty long to check out.

Their attitudes were crazy -- talking over us, rolling their eyes, acting like we were bothering them just by asking normal questions. I walked out furious and honestly shocked that a store would allow employees to treat people like that. I will never come back to this location.

The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Leon & Lulu also will give you a discount for your birthday if you share that information. If you're in Ferndale, Clawson or Detroit, put this store on your must visit list.

If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

Not less than 30 minutes after they were delivered I noticed that 2 of the 4 chairs had length issues and they were both "rocking" instead of a stationary foundation. We called customer service and the agent told us to take them back to the Madison Heights location and a refund will be initiated. Upon arrival, the store manager said they do not issue refunds only replacements regardless of how unhappy we were and that because we signed for them it was our fault. Here's the thing, the items are assembled and dropped off without an opportunity to inspect anything. And if I'm being honest, if the customer is unhappy, then you should issue a full refund for defective products!! Simple as that!! Their items are defective!! I don't want another defective set of chairs!!! I understand restocking fees and/or delivery costs but to tell me "well that's not our problem they're defective, you signed for them" is unacceptable. I think the worst thing is the store manager was just an unsympathetic little asshole. Completely aloof and didn't really give a damn about our defective items. The customer service experience at this Madison Heights store is the worst that I've ever been witness to. If I had the power to close this location that's exactly what I would do. The sales practice along with customer relations is simply predatory. We were able to finally talk to someone in corporate and have our money refunded only after many roadblocks.
