It is a costco. Huge parking lot, lots of people driving in it. The entry area gets a little wacky from being oddly shaped and so many people using it. Plus the card scan to enter slows everything down. Inside is a pretty standard layout. Bright. Clean. Well organized. Staff is great. The customers who are not born American are not great, and there are a lot of them at this store. Many, perhaps as many as 10%, are passively hostile or obstructionist. That is the reason for the down vote of one star. read more

Costco Business Center is always well-stocked and perfect for bulk shopping, especially if you're running a business--but wow, the gas station is an absolute madhouse. Every time I come here, the gas lines are extremely long and disorganized. It feels like chaos trying to navigate through the pumps, with cars coming from every direction. You definitely need patience (and extra time) if you plan on getting gas here. That said, the store itself is exactly what you'd expect from a business Costco, great selection, efficient for bulk buying, and worth the trip. I ended up canceling my membership when COVID first hit back in early 2020, and for a minute I gave Sam's Club a shot. It was fine... but it's not Costco. When I saw a promo to sign back up, I didn't hesitate -- and I'm glad I didn't. One of the biggest selling points for me at this location is the gas station. They absolutely nailed it. Tons of pumps, super efficient setup, and the lines move fast. That alone is worth it. I signed up yesterday, woke up early this morning (pretty proud of that), and was up and at 'em. I grabbed gas, went into the warehouse, picked up what I needed, got some breakfast, and was back home by 9:45 AM. You just can't beat that kind of efficiency. Staff here are fantastic! We always have the nicest checkout clerks! Tonight a gentleman scanned our items while we were next in line for the register, so that when we got up to the register the checkout clerks only had to pull up our order and have us pay--what is this magic?! It's saying something when you can go on a busy Friday night, and still manage to eat a slice of pizza and check out in under 40mins at a place as busy as this location. read more

This isn't my regular Costco, but I stopped by while I was in the area to quickly grab some essentials about 20 minutes before closing. The store didn't seem very well stocked, and a few items were not in their usual places like at other Costco locations, which made it a bit harder to find what I needed. I was also disappointed with the produce section, especially the bananas, which didn't look fresh and had very limited selection. At checkout, only four regular lanes were open, while the rest were closed. All the self-checkout lanes were open, but the lines were still quite long, which led to a longer wait than expected. Overall, it was an okay experience, but not as smooth or convenient as the Costco locations I usually visit. Hopefully, this location improves its stocking and checkout flow in the future. read more

Dr Chase is amazing, empathetic and helpful. She is the light at the end of the tunnel. I have had three surgeries and two injections in my left eye and cataract surgery in my right. I had to turn in my driver's license because my eyes needed so many surgeries to fix them and I failed eye tests at least three or four times since September 2025. She is understanding and she even responded to my email about what vitamin I should take to try and save my retina after business hours. I'm also glad I was the last patient of the day because of all my eye issues. She took the time and recognized how complicated my eyes are. I will never go anywhere else. I made the mistake of going elsewhere because of insurance. Glasses and the exam is still cheaper than Len$crafters. read more

Very rude and unwelcoming service employee at Optical center. I didn't have my receipt but I'm in the system. I just wanted a quick adjustment on my frames that I bought there weeks ago; as they kept slipping off my ears. She goes - "well I'm not responsible if those break or get damage." I said yes I got them here but I Just want a quick adjustment. She just gave me the nasty mean look. I just don't have time for your unwelcome employees. It's super crowded. Hard to what items are in the freezer/refrigerator because there are no signage. The staff is friendly and helpful when you find one. The prices higher than Sam's Club. Some items you force to buy 2 when it's not necessary. To order from their cafe you use the kiosk and they will call out the number printed on your receipt. They do get you order to you quickly. I would like it if the condiment station was cleaned and refilled more often. There was very little ice, some of the soda spouts were out as well as the ketchup. My mom had her hearing test from an ENT, who recommended getting hearing aids from Costco. Yes, she had to take another hearing test at Costco but we had an amazing experience with Mike. He was very patient and did a great job explaining things to my mom, who is struggling with the idea of having to use hearing aids. Costco replaced an existing business but didn't tear down or expand the space. Being centrally located the parking lot is way too small. Inside is POORLY designed with too much cross traffic between shopping, checkout, customer service and snack area. Until recently, getting gas was a major with only 12 pumps but now there are around 30 so that was a big improvement. Holiday time is a zoo at madison heights. Either shop during low tide (morning, dinner time) or go 10-15 miles outs of your way for a better shopping experience. read more

Years ago, I wrote a review for the Madison Heights Costco. I was singing its praises. Now? It's not so much that the employees are not friendly, but they're definitely not as friendly as they once were. Lots of new, sour faces. It's not that the store isn't clean; it's average. But you can tell that the store is a reflection of the people that shop here. The problem is the clientele is the worst. Every dreg of society comes to this location. They are rude, pushy, and entitled. I don't care where you come from or what you do or how you live your life, but this is a shared space. If you can't be respectful, get the hell out of my way. I have no time for gutter trash. The surrounding communities are mixed bag of all sorts of different cultures and wonderful people. Unfortunately all the absolute losers shop here. read more

What started out as a simple tire repair turned into 7 days and 4 vists of trying to get my car fixed. I had a serviceman incorrectly fix my car and lost a valuable part. However, with the swift and precise actions of Peyton, Paul, Johnny, Ethan and Scott, I was able to get this problem solved and corrected. These genteman went above and beyond to repair one mans actions and gained a customer for life. I applaud them and their guest service. Costco has all the goods! This location is always packed! Even on a Monday afternoon. The lines always go by super fast, they also have the option to do self check out which is awesome since a lot of locations don't have this. I'm used to my other location of Costco in Ann Arbor which has everything I ever needed and this location is lacking on some of those items, but this location isn't bad! read more

I've always been a huge Costco guy - they pay their employees well, have cheap gas, and have some delicious grub at the food court. I typically shop at the Roseville location, but was on this side of town and needed gas (and felt my tummy growl), so I stopped in. If you ever need to buy anything in bulk, Costco is the place. They don't focus on how many different products are available, but rather how many of one product is available. I bought a 96-pack of Ticonderoga pencils two years ago that I still haven't made a dent in yet! The same can be said for food - if you're hosting a huge party or barbecue, Costco is the place to go. Hot dogs are available in 36-packs and hamburgers in 24-packs, along with a wide variety of chips, so you can't go wrong with shopping at Costco. As many reviews already say, gas is super cheap here (typically 10-15 cents cheaper than your local gas station). Yes, the long lines look daunting, but the lines always move quickly, plus I wouldn't mind waiting a few extra minutes for cheaper gas. Costco is definitely not the place to stop for gas if you're in a hurry to get somewhere. The food court is fabulous. First off, this location has the typical menu - hot dog, pizza, chicken bake, and so on. Costco food court prices are dirt cheap, so much so that I would go to Costco for lunch in between classes at college! This location recently introduced a kiosk ordering system, which is becoming more common. You can walk up to the kiosk, put in your order, and pay with either credit/debit card (Visa only!) or Costco Cash (anyone with cash can still order at the window as usual). Then, the team behind the counter puts together your order and calls out your number on the receipt. They have about 46 types. Want some bread? Take your pick of 30 different brands-not including the different varieties. See what I mean? They have very good prices on most things and the things I don't get from here I usually get in bulk at restaurant depot. Some staples from here usually consist of: frozen bags of organic broccoli, toilet paper, tide- best prices and usually have coupons on them weekly :) They have great quality items and stand behind their products 100% which says a lot about a company. I just hate that they don't bag items- it's annoying carrying a whole trunk full of things singly or in a box that you feel like you're stealing. read more

Everybody just blocking aisles like it's nobody's business, oh no, don't worry about me, I've been walking behind you for the past 2 minutes in this cramped one way aisle while you inch along without a care in the world, but rest assured I'm really enjoying you wasting my time! Lots of rude customers as well, I overhear quite a bit of passive aggressive comments about people cutting or this and that. Tire center personnel are also extremely rude - I called to ask if I could do a walk-in, halfway through explaining what's wrong with my car the guy just interrupts me and tells me to come in so they can take a look at it, makes it sound like they'll be able to at least look at it no problem. So, later I come in, and the front desk people give me an earful about how it's gonna be a 3-4 hour wait minimum to even look at the car and how I should've made an appointment. Every time I tried to explain that I called earlier to explain that online appt times were full and to discuss how walk-in appts worked, or that my car really just needed a quick 5 minute look and I wasn't trying to cut the queue, or that their OWN person was the one who told me to come in quickly without an online appt no problem - they interrupted me with the same tired spiel that it's gonna be multiple hours and I should've made an appointment. They even pointed to a fellow customer saying "see, this guy made an appt" as if I didn't know how appts work. I WOULD'VE MADE ONE BUT THE WEBSITE WOULDN'T LET ME SO I CALLED ABOUT WALK-IN APPTS LIKE THE WEBSITE SUGGESTS ONE SHOULD DO AND YOUR OWN GUY TOLD ME TO COME IN. Of course I never got to say this because they literally kept talking over me at every turn. I left in frustration and they never apologized for anything. tldr; come here if you want terrible tire customer service and an overall cramped shopping experience. only good thing I'll say is that the self-checkout staff are usually pretty on it. read more

Costco is one of my favorite places ever because of the customer service, prices, and honestly it's just fun to walk around in. My #1 go to place for gas and if I'm ever in the area and hungry, I'll stop by for a quick bite in the deli (can't ever beat $1.50 hot dog with drink and free refills!) or a take home salad - or my new obsession, the quinoa salad!!! I live alone - and if you plan accordingly, you can still get use out of fresh produce and meats - and of course all of the dry goods, frozen foods, and home goods! I probably end up coming here about twice a week. It's where I go for my pirate booty and bulk food items. I do wish they carried my Charmin TP the strong roll sometimes. My BF gets all of his big bulk Kleenex, TP, hand soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, cleaning items and water cups for his shop here once a month. I do like their big bulk olive oil, milk, honey, maple syrup, foil and syran wrap. I do enjoy browsing the aisles to see what kind of cool special priced items they have when we have time to peruse the aisles on our visits. I wish it were a bit closer, but then it could b dangerous as I would end up coming more often. read more

Bad experience with optical. I picked up new glasses and asked the lady to adjust them, as well as my older pair, for fit. She said, I don't do that. Now I have brand-new glasses I cannot wear because they fall off my face when I move at all in daily life. I will have to take time out and find another Costco Optical at another location and see if they will fit my NEW glasses to my face. What an unpleasant experience. I bought three pairs of glasses there but I will not be back. I like the optometrist, it is the optical department that is lacking. read more

Really disappointed shopping here to the point where I am considering not renewing my membership after being a member for many years. No rhyme or reason for having to show your membership card upon entering, they don't even look at it!!! And it's inconsistent, sometimes they do and other times they don't bother. And on the times they do, they will stop you. Then after spending over $300 during my trip, the person checking my receipt is spending too much time checking my cart. What the heck is going on?!?!? The originator of the big giant bulk store club. Where you find cheap, hard to beat prices in whole year supply packages. Plus their cakes, pastries and bakery department is very good. Our usual thing is probably rice and dog food cause its cheap. Then there's the party supplies if it ever runs out,, also we get cakes and a thing of their splendid butter croissants. The store is really gigantic as big bulk stores are. It's clean, well organized and well lit. Associates are always on the aisles and isn't very hard to find. They're friendly and always happy to help you with anything you need. The real party piece to this store however is the snack shop. Cheap hotdogs, sausages and a whole big thing of pizza for hella cheap. Always something we look forward to whenever we finish our shop on.
