I'm an avid Target shopper and I have NEVER had an experience like this before in ALL my years of shopping there. My mother and I stopped here this past Friday night to do some Christmas shopping for a local shelter... just like we do here every year. We had a good shopping experience and found mostly everything we were looking for before we decided to cash out. Just to be clear, it was not our original cashier that we had a problem with. I don't remember her name, but she was polite and did her job the way that we should. When it came time for us to pay, we tried to use a Target E-gift card for $70 that we recently received as part of a promotion from purchasing a TV on Cyber Monday. This gift card was emailed to me and said RIGHT on it, that all you had to do to redeem it in the store was either print it out or show the email to the cashier. So, like it said, when it was time to pay, I took out my phone and showed it to the cashier. She informed us that she was unsure of how to redeem the gift card, so she asked another girl, Anissa, to come help her. BOY was that a big mistake. This girl, Anissa, was so unbelievably RUDE to my mother and I, and clearly has no customer service skills. After going back and forth with my mother numerous times asking whether or not we were sent another email or telling us that we could NOT redeem the card because there was no bar code, I had to ask whether or not the gift card "promotion" was a scam or not just to buy a TV. When I asked if she could type in the redemption number that was clearly stated underneath the picture of the gift card in the email, she told us no. I politely asked her to at least try to do so, she typed it in, where the screen flashed up "invalid #." She literally turned to my mother and said, "see, I told you," like a kindergartner and handed back the phone, saying that there was no way to redeem it. Not only was this entire situation so embarrassing because there was a line of customers behind us, but she did not seem the slightest bit interested in resolving the issue and helping us figure anything out. When I put my foot down and told her that I didn't care that that wasn't working and we were going to figure it out, she legitimately HUFFED in front of us, then said she would suspend the purchase and send us to guest services. SO, then we moved on over to guest services with our overflowing carriage of merchandise and what do you know... Anissa was going to "help" us, yet again. But, oh wait, instead of just sending us over and helping us right away, she decided to take the woman in line in front of us first. First off, you are incredibly rude to us at the register, then send us over to guest services to "help" us again, then make us WAIT AGAIN! A few minutes later, we get up to the counter and Anissa takes my phone again and says she doesn't understand why there is no barcode on the email. Again, I asked whether or not the gift card was a scam and her response was, "no, the email is from Target.com, but instead of this pretty little thing right here (while pointing to the photo of a gift card), there should be a barcode." Well, if you can't figure it out and you're aware that you've been wasting our time, why not call a manager to come help you? Maybe because that would actually make sense. After fidgeting with my phone for about another 5 minutes, Anissa was finally able to find the barcode, and handed back my phone stating, "all you had to hit was 'see more' at the bottom." Well, thank you so much for your help. Once the gift card was redeemed and my mother was in the process of paying the remaining balance, this girl turned to her coworker, while we are standing there, and goes, "I feel like I'm about to hurl any minute." Are you kidding me? This girl was SO unbelievably unprofessional, rude, and does not belong working on the floor if that is how she's going to treat customers and talk like that in front of them. We will certainly not be shopping at this Target after this experience. We will definitely be sticking to Smithfield from here on out. read more
