This is a big Target will lots of variety. Just about anything you are looking for will have multiple options at varying price points. The staff was also very helpful and the checkout was relatively painless. We have gone there for our apartment needs before and feel confident about going again. I'm pretty sure you can buy food elsewhere cheaper though. read more

Who doesn't like Target. While Yes, the customer service is horrible here. You can never find anyone to help you and when you do THEY DON"T KNOW JACK about anything. Also while this target will have a better selection than any in NYC, don't expect anything popular to be in stock around the holidays. We went there four days ago and it was another rather negative experience. My husband had received an e-mail re: a (rather pricey) item being on sale for two days (30% discount) and it even listed the aisle # for this store. We were driving out-of-town, so it was the perfect opportunity to go there in person. However, there was no "sale" sign by those items and we asked a (friendly) clerk about it. He scanned them and indeed told us they weren't listed as being on sale, so he suggested that we go to the Service Desk. The cashier there (a very friendly woman) scanned them and it was the same problem, so we requested that she get ahold of a manager. She called a floor supervisor, who took a long time to stroll on over - and that woman could have cared less about helping us. She brusquely told us that the items weren't on sale and then she walked away (how nice....). The cashier told us there wasn't a store manager available, but somehow she managed to get ahold of a code to give us the 30% discount. Today I called the store manager and told her the whole story. She was very pleasant and very concerned (I also made sure to compliment the cashier and she promised to write a commendation for that woman). Shopping in Jersey City made easier thanks to this target! Though stock fluctuates in and out, it still gets the job done and is very convenient! Staff is wearing masks and take safety precautions for COVID sanitation. Though it is not as large and has less options and other Target locations, this Target is still considerably convenient due to the city it is in. Then half the staff was standing around the worst was the one guy standing watching with his hands in his pockets. Bahhhh this place. They are lucky that they are Target and I rely on them for many things. This location is pretty meh. It IS always relatively clean, so that's a plus. And the employees are usually nice. Cons: -They had 2 registers open today at Sunday 10am. You know that's when ppl are doing their errands!! And then they closed one so it was down to just 1 register. Longgg line. This is not uncommon. -They only have one 1 person monitoring the 6 self-checkout registers, so poor woman is running around trying to help everyone. -There are ZERO price scanners in the entire front half of the store, so I have to end up price checking at the register and then saying no to half the things, inevitably annoying the cashiers. Like, really? Target you make more than enough money to hire some more people and install more scanners for this highly-frequented store. read more

This place is organized a bit oddly and has a reasonably long walk away from the trains. I imagine my wife discovered it by happenstance exploring Hoboken and saw it nearby. But really it feels like a deception that it is this close to the trains. It is likely a better stop for people living in Newport. But it is here, despite to very long walk you have to the train station. Bring a collapsible pull cart or you'll be carrying grocery's for a bit of time. If I can give them no stars I would. I am absolutely disgusted with this store. My father accompanied me to this target in Jersey city he is handicap to be clear he has an amputation of his right leg. I should have listened to him when he told me they do not have any electrical carts when speaking to an associate she told us that they do not have any carts at the moment more like never. Try to avoid this place for pick up during the pandemic. Management probably does not realize that they need to increase staff at Pick Up and Return during the pandemic because many people choose to pick up instead of shopping in the store. I was the first person at the return line but I still had to wait about ten minutes, which is not too bad comparing to people in the Pick Up line, because I was talking to the person next to me, who was in the pick up line, and found out she was there for half an hour already. There was only one person working at Pick Up and Return when I was there. I feel sorry for people in the Pick Up line! When I left, people waiting for pick up were already lined up all the way out the door. So again, you might want to avoid pick up at this place during this time! read more

I honestly hate this Target, but it's close so really unless you want to go deep into the burbs this is it. Here's the skinny on this place. Things are always out of stock, nothing is EVER in the right spot. So that widget you want for $7.99 is actually $127.99 because whoever stocks the shelves never puts stuff in the right spot, or doesn't label things correctly. There are times when crap is just all over the floor, just in disarray while the employees talk on their phones. The grocery section is fairly pitiful. The customer service is non-existent and they never have enough cashiers open and I don't think in 8 years living here I've ever seen the express checkout open. So if only have your $127.99 widget you'll be stuck in line for awhile as people buy carts of stuff. Last time there one of the Starbucks employees kept asking the woman in front of me what she had done to her leg, the woman had an obvious disability and was not walking around with just a broken leg. Maybe they knew each other, but I was blown away by this, never mind the fact she kept asking her this while trying to get my coffee. There are never any available carts because the staff just stuffs all loose items in them and then lines them up in the outermost aisles rather than restock shelves. In the spring I came in and was shocked to see 2 people freely shopping with their dogs. I'd never seen this in a Target store. Was thoroughly disgusted when I came across this dog turd on the floor not too far from the food department. Health code anyone? I spoke with a manager. It seems to be a problem although they have a sign posted. However, the sign isn't large enough and these violators need to be escorted out of the store. There's nothing special about this Target, and I've read some bad reviews about this location, BUT I usually find everything that I need here. First, I drink A LOT of LaCroix and this Target has many more flavors than the Shop Rite in Hoboken. They even had the special mixed flavors (the melon grapefruit one is life btw). I honestly haven't had any issues at this Target...yes, there are times when I walk through the aisles and things kind of seem bare or off. But like I said before, I've managed to find everything I need, including jalapenos. This target is convenient though manic. The store is understaffed so the staff is mostly very busy and kind of unhelpful. My main star reduction comes from my opinion that they should be asking their customers if they want a receipt. Printing receipts on thermal paper is extremely wasteful and if chains like Target started asking customers if they wanted one printed, not only could Target save A TON of money on receipt paper but all of us could save the earth a great deal too! (Most receipts are not recyclable). Most chains should consider this if they're not already doing it. read more

They are always scattered around the parking lot and on a rainy day all are wet and they do not supply paper towels to dry them off. It's a Target that is open till midnight during the week. Good if you have some late night urge to shop, especially since they also sell groceries. However, the staff is pretty useless. I ordered something online and arranged to pick it up at the store. I used my common name on the order, which happens to be my middle name. Even though my driver's license had my middle initial, last name, and matching address, and even though I had the email with the order number, and even though I had the original method of payment, the lady at the customer service register refused to give me my order. Talk about a waste of time and a lack of common sense. It's hard to fault an entire store for one experience, which is why I gave this Target a 3. You ever see that youtube where the girl goes into target looking for one item and comes out with everything BUT that one item... yeah. Target has everything you need, and a lot of things you don't need, but you MIGHT need, so you should probably buy them, just in case. It's probably a good thing I don't live closer, because I would be here all the time, buying just about everything. "dish towels? I have dishes!" I like that this target has self checkout. I don't like that only three of the four self checkouts are in service. Why have four if only two-three are in use? The lines are always super long because only two cashiers are open (aside from the self checkout). My biggest issue though is, I was in the store and there was an employee, an older woman, on the floor putting items out. She had a radio blasting a political talk show. This is unprofessional, you are at work, this is not your private time. What you do on your own time, your personal time, is you business. If you are at work, especially at a job like this where you are on the floor, you should not be listening to you own personal radio, through headphones and especially not through a boombox. Remember that scene from 'The 40 year old virgin' where Paul Rudd tells his manager that he would rather listen to Fran Drescher than listen to the Michael McDonald DVD again? Exactly. Don't even waste your time here. Want to get groceries? Morton Williams down the road is a better choice. For household items pop into Newport Mall instead. If you're looking for electronics don't even think about it, we had the absolute worst experience. After much deliberation we find a TV at target that we like. They bring out a packed box from the back and we find ourselves going home with a nice new smart TV. When we try setting it up we realize they had sold us a tv that wasn't the one displayed on the box but only a few models older and it wasn't even a smart tv. Bummer right? It only gets worse from here. We lived pretty close by at the time and decided to take it back. We re-enter the store within 20minutes of leaving it and explain our situation to the cashier that checked us out. At this point not only were they refusing to take back the tv they started blaming us for somehow duping them by trying to switch the tv and trying to return back an older model to them. This went on for about 2hours till it finally came down to checking the security footage and verifying that we left the store with the box that we came in with. After it came down to reluctantly agreeing it was their mistake we didn't buy the tv and just took a refund instead. We didn't even get an apology from them. I don't think I've had such a bad customer experience ever. They have an absolute disregard for their customers. I've never shopped here since then. read more

After almost 10 years of Manhattan living, we moved to Hoboken and got a car and well, this is our Target and since there's nothing else to compare to in Manhattan (that Target all the way up on 117th St doesn't count), I rate this 4 stars. Here is the single reason why: CLEARANCE I can't remember the last time I paid $0.30 for a roll of wrapping paper (bought 2). I also saw a package for 10 metal knobs (nice enough I thought about getting them) for $7.98 (that's $0.80 a knob, even cheap by online standards). As was mentioned in previous reviews, this is a Super Target that has a grocery section. What that means is you can get a dozen large eggs here for $1.79 (regular pricing). A pack of 2 pillows was $5.34 (just over $2.50 per pillow!!). I also bought 3 Coppertone Sport aerosol sunscreen (30 and 50 SPF) for $3.26 each on sale. The ridiculous pricing just goes on and on.. And while I agree that customer service is not why you come here, the great thing about how disinterested the staff here can be is that they are more than willing to cut corners. During checkout (you can prob guess I had a full cart), the checkout guy had an item not ring up. Instead of calling someone to go find the price, he just entered $3.99 for an item that was priced at $7.49 (I have a good memory when it comes to numbers). Anyways, if you need help with something, this may not be where you want to go. On the other hand, if you've just moved and have to buy a bunch of stuff, this is where you'll find prices lower than Big Lots/Walmart, etc so long as you're willing to look for it yourself. read more

Last time I went someone left an item on the belt, the cashier scanned it and I told him it wasn't mine. Oh Target Pharmacy Jersey City, How I hate thee let me count thy ways I do love target but this Jersey City store has got to concentrate the dumbest employees in the country. This store is perfect for New Yorkers who want to put New Jersey down. The pharmacy staff is unfriendly, unprofessional and plain rude at best. The only reason I have to go to this pharmacy is that my health / prescription program no longer works with Walgreens and Duane Reade. As you can imagine in the Tri- State area that is an issue. I could go to CVS in Hoben (washington and Newark or 14th St and Willow). The problem in Hoboken is of course parking which this Target has plenty of. However whenever I have to request refills or have an uncommon issue these Target phramacists remind me what basic service Target can offer when they really try. The Starbucks in this store will also win the Rookie of the Year award. There is always a new employee who is completely lost and make you waste precious time. read more

This is the worst Target ever! I only come here because I live 2 minutes away. They are always out of stock on whatever you need. Especially those really rare and obscure things that noone would ever need, such as salt, flour, milk, or sugar. I literally only needed salt, eggs, and milk, and they were out of salt... 33% of my list. I can honestly say that in the last 4 trips I've made here, they've been out of at least one thing on my list. What kind of inventory control is that! There must have been a sudden run on salt today! I forgot about those Monday night salt parties! Secondly the lines are atrocious! I stop by after work, as most people probably do. If you go on a weeknight between 6-7 you can expect 4-5 registers to be open and lines 10 people deep. This is NOT a one time thing, like they had some employees call out sick. This is literally EVERY TIME I come. The management is clearly trying to improve their productivity numbers by keeping staff to a minimum, to the frustration and annoyance of their customers. Finally, the service is terrible. They may have trouble finding dedicated, hard working, caring staff. But I find it so insulting when I am trying to ask an employee a question and they are texting or looking at social media on their phones. It is also really annoying when the person at the checkout (already slow because only 4 registers are open when 50 people are in line) is going slowly because they are chatting with the person at the register next to them. This is my go to Target store for my one stop shopping experience. As an added bonus there is a Starbucks right inside for either getting a nice drink on the way in, way out, or sometimes both, depending how long I spend inside as I end up getting many more things that were not on my shopping list. They have a huge parking lot so you are always guaranteed a spot, there is two entrances so either side you park you will be close to one of them. The produce and meat is fairly decent here, although they tend to run out quick. Over the past few years they added lots of healthy items so my trips to whole foods and trader joes are much less now. I get milk and eggs here too and prices for a lot of items are hard to beat elsewhere. The deli selection and section is not great but if in a pinch it can do. Also they could have had better bread and water selection, its tough to find a sparkling water that isnt flavored with something. For big ticket items there is the 3.5% sales tax here which can add up to significant savings. Shelves here are well stocked and things are organized and not cramped together as I find in some other Target stores. I prefer this one to a lot of others in the nearby areas. read more

Red sale stickers are like little beacons and almost everything that goes into my basket has one. 3. For essentials is there an easier place to go to in order to buy what you need? Nope. Not in these parts anyway. In terms of this area being unsafe - I never got that vibe there and I shopped at this here Target pretty much every weekend. Just away from Target (that area between JC and Hoboken) is pretty dark and scary and I would recommend to stay away from there. And where I lived, although one of the nicer and more sought after hoods in JC, was still pretty scary for a single female after dark (or anyone, really) and many muggings and car jacking have occurred right there on the brownstone lined streets. As someone who can spend hours aimlessly browsing the isles of target only to leave with $100 worth of stuff I didn't know I needed, I gotta say... I am pretty disappointed by this store. My blood pressure goes through the roof just thinking about going to this Target. They are ALWAYS out of stock of essentials, the place is always ridiculously crowded and busy, and the employees are annoyed to be there. I usually just walk in, freak out and run back out. This is my favorite Target. Why? Because it's just off the Holland Tunnel and it's only 3.5% tax here! Plus, they recently added a produce section to the store. This is my go to place for most of my household items as well as games, books and sometimes clothing. Their Archer Farm brand food items are a good value. The Organic Blue Corn Flaxseed chips are my absolute favorite!!! They have a good selection (on most items) and are generally well stocked. If you don't see it on the floor, the sales associates are pretty helpful. Love the no hassle return/exchange policy at Target. I never fret if I see a line at the Customer Service area because it tends to move pretty quick. This location definitely tops the Brooklyn (Atlantic Ave) location. read more

It's what you'd expect from any similar store - mediocre quality stuff at relatively cheaper prices, convenience- a buy everything at one place type deal. That being said, out of all the Target stores I've been to, this one is definitely the messiest, most disorganized, and least stocked. I'd normally give a store like this 3 stars, because it's just A-OK and gets the job done when you need to hit the shop, but I had to take one off in this case.
