This is a great store when you're in the need of something cute for your home or your body. The customer service is great at the checkout counter, but pretty nonexistent in the rest of the store. But a lot of people, me included, kind of prefer that. I'll find someone when I have a question. I think the selection here is pretty great! And the sale selection downstairs especially! So many things to look through. The value may not be the best, but when you're looking for something specific and they hit the mark, it's great! I have TRIED with this Anthropologie but its always an awful experience. I live 3 BLOCKS from this store and as soon as I arrive I feel like I'm being stared at and like they're waiting for me to steal something? There is literally nothing I love more than the sale section at Anthropologie. Especially when there is a sale on top of that sale, which there very commonly is. Just like every Anthro, everything here is incredible and I want it all. But, very rarely will I justify a full priced item. I mean, it happens, but it is rare. But make your way downstairs and to your left and boom, sale central. There is a huge clothing section and an equally big home section. I am guilty of pillaging through both. I've always had really great customer service for the dressing rooms and throughout the store and the register. Even if I don't get anything (rare) I love wandering around this store. read more

Wow. Talk about false advertisement. Anthropologie teases you with promotions and refuses to honor any of them. I walked into the store because of a sign that said ALL SALE ITEMS ADDITIONAL 30% OFF. I go to purchase a sale item and then at the check out the woman behind the counter refused to give me the additional 30 percent because of the product code. But the sign had to asterix or exclusions May apply section. Therefore this is false advertisement. They are there to trick customers into buying their overpriced products. Can't say I'd go back. Horrible experience at this store this morning. Not even remotely kid friendly staff considering it's in hoboken and I imagine many of their clientele are moms to littles. I had to do a return and brought my toddler. Like any toddler, she touches things, I always advise her not to touch anything like glass but always let her explore and we make sure that we put everything back where it belongs before we leave the store. Twice a staff member goes to my 2 year old "don't touch please." Was I BSing on my phone ignoring my kid? No. Was I letting her throw stuff? No. Was I constantly watching her and telling her what not to touch in case if damage? Yes. Not sure why the staff had to address my child when I'm RIGHT there. The customers on the other hand were so niceee and friendly to my daughter. I walked around, found two things I loved but decided to take a photo and look at it online bc I just wanted to get out of there. I went to do my return which was why I went. Toddler is next to me, show the cashier the online order with the bar code. She asks if I can just read her the order number. Ok, fine, I start doing that, toddler walks away, bc she's a toddler! I go after her, get her, we do this twice and I eventually pick her up which is pretty difficult for me to do right now. At no point does the cashier offer to read it from my phone (ok maybe they can't touch my phone), she doesn't seem to care to help at all just seems annoyed that I'm there, my toddler is there and it's taking long. Forgot to mention, my toddler did knock off a few eyeshadows before I picked her up, went to help pick up, bc duh, courtesy, one eye shadow cracked, the other worker who had already told my kid twice to not touch, picks the broken one up and puts it on the register. Both people clearly look annoyed. Well so am I. I'm not sure why they were so unfriendly. There were prob 5 workers in the store and 5 customers total, including me and my toddler. If they needed me to pay for the eyeshadow, fine I would have. I would much rather have ppl that are nice to my toddler then not. We went to two stores afterward on Washington, both stores we had a great experience. Not sure what's up with this Anthro but the workers need some customer service training. read more

This is a really spacious Anthro. Look for me headed straight down those beautiful reclaimed wood stairs to the sale section. What? It's not a mess? This may be the only Anthropologie where you aren't spending an hour sorting through the mess also known as the not so cheap sale rack. I'm usually not the biggest Anthropologie fan, their price point is a bit too high for what they are selling in my opinion, but every once and a while I find a good gem. For example, a sweet pair Sorel rain boots marked down... SCORE! This new storefront is really nice and spacious and a great option to have on Washington St. in Hoboken. read more

After years of rumors and months of the storefront teasing us, Anthro is finally open! So happy to have my favorite store blocks from my house! Of course I had to go opening day and was impressed with how smoothly it was run. The store itself is huge with two floors of clothing and home accessories. The only disappointment is, the sale room is small and cramped and they don't have a shoe department at this location. Nonetheless, I will be spending lots of time here in the near future! read more

Unfortunately I have to agree with all the comments regarding customer service. It is very very poor and very very lacking. To have so many reviews about customer service and to do nothing is simply a corporate disaster. Employees rarely speak or asking if you need help and the check out experience is awful! I frequent Anthropologie at other locations and this has never been the case. MANAGEMENT must do something soon before this becomes a larger issue. My advice to shoppers is know what you want when you come in and when they go low you go HIGH!!! read more

I love Anthropologie. This store is a perfect staple in Hoboken. However the staff is extremely rude and pretentious. I don't know why?! It's not as if they're working for a luxury brand store! It's as if they are trained to be snotty to their customers. I was making a purchase and made a nice comment about the item I was purchasing. The cashier looked directly at me but gave me no reaction, no interaction, no response. Her blank stare said "I don't care what you think, I'm only here to ring you up, not be your friend". That alone made me never want to go back in to this location. I'll continue to shop in Edgewater where they are much more pleasant. So first I'll start with the chain, and the. On to the specific Store locale. I'm sure most people have shopped at this chain before. I'm a huge anthro fan-not only for their in store environment/aesthetic, but also for the variety of products they carry (from jewelry to housewares). I always find good deals in the the sales section (both in stores and online, although online can sell out rather quickly, so sometimes your best bet is in store). Now, so this locale, it's great. Their staff is really friendly, they always welcome our dog in store . Their sales section (you'll have to go into the store and downstairs-hang a left) is pretty robust-I almost always leave with something for our home or a gift for someone else! I even had a long (and very complex) return to make after Christmas and the woman who helped me was so patient and kind! This store is perfect for Hoboken and gives me more options (at often a better price) than some of the alternatives nearby! read more

The staff is very rude. After looking a few options, I wanted to try on a dress - the piece for my size was on a mannequin. So, I simply requested if I can try it on. Their spontaneous reaction was "The one on the mannequin? NO!" I would have never expected such a rude reaction. They were just not interested in helping the customer or even selling the product. Such a lovely store with great items...sadly... the customer service is severely lacking. The women working there should make ALL their customers feel as if they're business is appreciated, not just the ones who fit the profile. I walked in on a rainy Saturday, with frizzed hair and no makeup... peeked around and picked up a few odds and ends. I finally decided to pay and the difference in the way the woman to the right of me was checking out in comparison to my experience with a dry cashier made it clear that I didn't fit the clientele who normally shopped there. I almost decided to abandon my 3 item $70 purchase just because of the reluctance written on my cashier's face. I wasn't offered any credit cards or told about upcoming sales... I guess I was expected to listen in on the great services being offered by the other cashier, as she eagerly and happily mentioned to the other shopper next to me. Anthro fan and Hoboken fan, regularly disappointed by the Anthro Hoboken store. I understand they can't stock everything, but this store is too spacious to justify limited stock (close to no housewares, no hardware, no shoes, and the clothing I'd prefer to try on is available at Chelsea Market, Rock Ctr, and UES locations but never Hoboken--Hoboken seems to primarily stock the comfy/frumpy gear, which doesn't need to be tried on). Also surprising/further disappointing is that Anthro doesn't compensate for this location's limited stock by being a location that is shipping-to friendly (no item I see online is ever shippable to this store, only the NYC stores). Service at this location has improved over the past 1.5 years in my experience, but is still not up to the level I've experienced at other Anthro stores (in NYC, Austin, & Minneapolis). read more

I was in the Hoboken store 10/29/17. I was with a friend shopping for a wedding outfit. The staff immediately offered to help. We described what my friend was looking for - tops for a black pencil pants, nothing too feminine or fancy. One of the staff quickly suggested a top that might work. It did! The store didn't have the right size but they offered to order it. We felt quickly attended to and walked away getting what we needed. My friend and I felt like worthy customers! What Anthropologie got right: - Immediately offered assistance - Got a top that was suitable for what we were looking for - Brought clothes to the dressing room - Offered to have the item shipped at the sales price Suggestion for making this a more "worthy customer" experience: - One of the other sales clerks who overheard our discussion brought down tops that really wouldn't work at all; she was trying to be helpful but clearly hadn't heard to our requests for nothing girly, frilly or fancy. Will never come here again. My friend and I came here during our lunch hour to look at the knobs they sell. The entire time I was in that section picking out a pair of overpriced knobs the lady that worked there stood next to me and pretended to arrange books on a table that didn't need arranging. Seriously could not get back home fast enough to write a negative review of this Hoboken Anthropologie location- was pretty surprised to find entirely unqualified (and disinterested) staff that has no knowledge of the collections they are responsible for selling. Manager was incapable of answering even one question... I managed to stump her repeatedly with tough requests such as "can you point me in the general direction of your dresses?" I had a clear objective: garden wedding in June for my twin sister (this is stressful, people!) and immediately advised I was in need of a maid of honor gown and interested in also seeing other options for bridesmaids and the after-party look for bride herself (in other words, I have some dollars to spend). Front desk (Debbie) was entirely rude and unwilling to remotely help out - apparently didn't alert any store staff to my presence / needs. When asked ANY questions about the actual dress selection, sizing, or availability, she was not only totally unaware but abrasive (uncommon in a little town like ours with repeat clientele!) I am a busy Hoboken mama with a $2K budget, tight turnaround, screenshots and names of every dress I did my homework on...should be a slam-dunk for anyone who knows the items in their very own store (not rocket science). And a nice experience I came here with a friend and we tried on a bunch of clothes and voicemails a bunch of Tocca Per fumes in hairspray is that we absolutely loved and adored I ended up getting a bunch of stuff for the next cruise and vacations I will go on No one actually helped me as I was shopping but I had any ring me up and she was very very sweet It was very impersonal but I was ended up finding really cool things for friends that are having weddings and bridal showers in the coming year And that the anthropology type so I don't really shop there very often but sometimes I can find cookbooks and things for the home I brought fragrances and cookbooks but the clothes are definitely out of my range unless they are for vacation I will never be the granola mum that anthropology caters to. I do not live simple and I do not dress simple and I never will. But we had a nice time spending about a half hour in the store and when we checked out any was very nice and pleasant I walked out with more than I intended to but I absolutely loved that they carried tocca products read more

I've been a long-time Anthropologie customer, but I can only wear the petite sizes. I've always loved that they allow you to order petites in the store from the website & avoid the shipping charges. I went in to return a couple of items I had done this for (downside of not being able to try things on before you buy) & purchase some others this way. I've worked in retail for a while so I know that, while this business model is awesome for customers, it sucks for the stores. I totally get it. I don't like having to return merchandise to them, but I don't have much choice since most of their stores don't carry petites. The woman who helped me was presumably a manager, since she was doing bag checks. I told her what I needed & she immediately told me that I could shop at Rockefeller Center, since they have a petite section. I told her I'm never up there, so she rattled off something about why I should still go. She was polite enough & mostly professional, but totally transparent. It was frustrating for me as a customer that she was obviously more worried about her store than helping me. Anyway, we're getting through the transaction & they're down to 1 or 2 for two of my items, & ostensibly out of stock on the third. I'd made it very clear that I had been waiting to be able to use my birthday discount, so when I heard they "didn't have" the item I wanted most (I called the website after. They did have it. The guy I spoke to was so sweet about helping me to arrange my purchase), I decided to cancel the whole thing rather than waste a one-time discount on things that I wasn't even definitely going to be able to get. She even brought up driving to PA where they have a really big petites section as she was ringing me; if I don't make it up to 47th St., I definitely don't think I'll make it there, no? As soon as she heard I wanted to cancel, instead of offering other solutions or trying to help me in anyway, she looked at & talked to me like I was crazy, & then I heard her doing the same thing to the customer behind me. Do I understand there was a line building behind me because they were understaffed? Yes. I had no problem that she even rang another sale in the middle of my transactions. Do I get that, once again, this model sucks for her & that she had spent time with me anyway & then I was cancelling, which was probably frustrating for her? Yes. However, I was almost in tears when I heard I couldn't get the birthday present I'd spent hours picking out & was constantly made to feel like an imposition. Not the way to help customers. read more

I love-love Anthro! I never get to it often enough but yea, being in walking distance from my job (where I have to be 5 days a week) is gonna get this store a LOT of Me action. I've walked in to browse a couple of time but always as an after-thought. Always having to rush back to work. But this day, this day I had Anthro for lunch! I took my time going through all the sections and even tried somethings on. The store is a nice size. You wouldn't think it's as big as it is from the outside. It's super clean and tidy. As another reviewer said, the sale area leaves a little to be desired but I still found a lovely pair of gray ankle chinos. The employees were very helpful, esp in the dressing room area, which was also nice. It was raining when I went in and there was a hole in the ceiling that was leaking into a huge (outside) trash can. It was not attractive. I hope they get that fixed soon. I'll be back when I'm in the mood for shopping instead of food for lunch. read more

Until the opening of this location, I went to other locations in Manhattan. I enjoy how every Anthro store has its own beauty. I call Anthropologie "Paradise for Girly Girls", and even just browsing in this location calms my mind and delights me. I have to say, I did extra shopping in the store this holiday season because the staff is the warmest and most helpful. The people who work there really understand how I need to spend a long time browsing around in silence without hovering over me EVER (which is rare in retail) and they are ALWAYS helpful if I need anything at all. The only other thing I ever dream about is a little whimsical cafe (inside the store) where a girl can have some chocolate and a little tea or coffee.......Anthropologie execs. Obviously a chain store.. clothes are ok, overpriced but as they should be. Staff is extremely unhelpful and almost snobby. I went in during a break I had for lunch and I'm a teacher so I wasn't dressed to the nines I was dressed for a normal school day. As I walked in with moms and baby strollers I wasn't one greeted or asked if I needed help, instead all the staff flocked to the 2 moms that were dressed very nicely accompanied by their strollers. I made my way downstairs and finally found 1 nice staff member who helped me find a white sweater. When I went back upstairs I was browsing the perfume area to find a new travel spray. As I walked over a staff member was hovering over me, but not to ask if I needed help just to watch me.. as if I was trying to steal something??? I don't know. But I walked right over to a cute fur vest that would of been perfect with a dress I just bought. And as soon a I walked over to that item, clearly an expensive item, the staff said "oh that is a beautiful piece it is truly one of a kind and matches any outfit." I asked her more about it, glanced at the price tag of 350$ and said it wouldn't be in my price range, so she said she would help me check out with the items that were in my hands, I withdrew the request because I was still browsing... after an eye roll I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave!!! The only reason I went to the store was because of a gift card! My one suggestion would be lore the staff to be more accommodating and welcoming. If that vest was out of my budget the sales lady could of offered me a different option or showed me something more in budget and maybe it would of created a high sale.. just a tip! read more
