Store was messy as hell. Stuff all over the place and on the floors. No registers opened. Employees standing around.

His experience, product and service knowledge , and customer service are unsurpassed in today's retail world where it is almost nonexsistent. I have already referred one friend to the store (who is very happy with her sofa!) and also another friend and prospective customer. Thank you so much for such unmatched service and attention!

Was given a contract, gave a deposit and said that it would be ready for delivery the second week in February. After two days into that week, I emailed her expecting her to call me to touch base about the order and learned that the sofa had not been done as the fabric I chose was not available. I expected a sales rep to have their management skills to be ahead of any potential problem as my contract is with Sofas Etc. and not Sherrill Furniture who is their agent making the furniture. After some back and forth, I was told that if I came in the store, I could pick out another fabric and was told that they would be "moving me to the head of the line above everyone else to get my softa within the next 6 weeks." While at the store, Karen called and spoke to the agent at Sherrill and learned that they just got the fabric in again and I could get the fabric of my choice. I said to Karen that I felt a little mismanaged in that there was no way I was receiving communication from anyone about the fabric. It was really Sofas Etc. that I had the contract with and obviously, no one was caring to communicate after I left the deposit. The Owner offered placating remarks and with my health compromised, I just wanted to go home and not deal with this kind of treatment. I left the store thinking that it was really coming and would be done in the beginning of April. I emailed Karen right after the beginning of April: "Another deadline missed?" in the subject line of my email and she then emailed me back saying they would look into it. The Owner emailed me exclaiming that they were having problems not getting communications with them. That Karen received messages that the fabric was there and also that it wasn't. I just felt abused and neither Karen nor the owners were taking any responsibility for the process at all. I didn't bother coming back to the store and told them to credit my deposit in full immediately. After all that, the Owner still insisted that perhaps he could offer a heavily discounted price if I would just let them try to get it done again. I just wanted the abuse of the whole process to be done and credit my account immediately. I have to put the onus onto Sofas Etc. as they had the contract with me and they should have been guiding and managing the process including all communications instead of operating from a "reactionary" process.

You should definitely look over pieces for damage or…read moremissing pieces before purchasing, and you'll probably have to clean them once you get them home because it doesn't look like the store cleans them. I actually bought two pieces of furniture here (one was missing a decorative piece of hardware that I didn't notice till I got it home), but the most "curious" thing was the delivery policy. I was charged $95 for delivery. One of the owners said there would be 2 men to deliver a sideboard and a heavy cabinet, but it turned out that only one guy showed up. He said usually the owners of the store send an extra guy to help him but they didn't that day. He looked confused about how he was going to manage to carry the heavy pieces off the truck. Fortunately, my husband was home and could help carry the furniture into our house. Honestly, though, for $95, I thought my husband shouldn't have to lift a finger. I went back to the store and said that it was my understanding that they were supposed to send 2 delivery guys. One of the owners said, "Oh, it was a misunderstanding. I thought you said your husband was going to be home." I did say he was going to be home, but I clearly asked the owner if they would be sending 2 delivery guys, and he said they would. I thought he was just asking if someone was going to be home to open the door. Anyway, the other store owner clarified that for $95 they usually send 2 delivery men, but neither owner offered to compensate me for the fact that my husband had to "work" as the extra delivery guy. Seems like a shady business practice to me, so I will not be visiting this curious shop again! Next time, I'll stick to Great Finds and Design down the street.

The actual piece was in their other location (near 11001 York Rd.), so I did not get to see it before I purchased it. Donna (the owner) was very honest about the piece though and let me know about a small problem with it before I considered buying it. I first spoke to her on 7/13. I let her know I wanted the piece and she was happy to reserve it for me until I could pick it up on 7/17. She even went to the location where it was after she closed the shop to allow me to pick it up after work. Overall, the service I received was excellent. Donna was not pushy at all, which I found some consignment/antique dealers to be. She was genuinely friendly and helpful. From the conversations I overheard with other customers in the shop, she is extremely knowledgable about the pieces she sells. Also, the prices were extremely good for the quality of the items being sold. I would absolutely go back to Curiozity Shoppe any time I am looking for furniture or unique decorations. Just a note on the location: my GPS sent me to the wrong place at first. 75 W Timonium Rd. is not in the same parking lot as About Faces. It is on the same side of the street that the Red Roof Inn is, just across the street and next to McCormick's Paints.

I was eager to peruse to see what tasty treat I could grab. Parking was plentiful, but busy. I suggest you go as early as possible to secure a hassle free experience parking and market wise. Upon entering, the convergence of scents hit at once: desserts, bbq, popcorn. I wasn't mad at all. Our first stop was the bbq kiosk where we purchased a rack of ribs and wings. They have a variety of mini markets and food vendors in the building: bbq, seafood, spices, bakery, pickles items, clothing, furniture, butcher, handmade crafts, fresh made pretzels, etc. They also had an area to sit and enjoy your food purchases. We also picked up a half of a coconut cake, a slice of strawberry cheesecake, some apple butter and blackberry jam, and as we exited we got the glazed almonds and cashews. This place seems big, but it is manageable to walk around and check out all of the vendors. Upon tasting, our ribs were good: perfectly seasoned and fresh; the wings were rotisserie roasted and were good as well; the cake was just ok for us fresh with coconut flakes held on by white buttercream; the strawberry cheesecake was just ok; the glazed nuts were good as well. All in all, a nice market to visit for fresh, homemade food and unique crafts/gifts.

I really wanted to love this set. Let me start by saying I am a woodworker, I have a small shop in…read moremy basement, so I appreciate craftsmanship and we currently have other amish furniture pieces in our house - its becoming harder and harder to find quality solid wood furniture these days. I have no problem spending the premium that solid wood furniture warrants. Myself being a woodworker, I probably pick up on things that the average person would not (or may not even care about). We paid, what I would consider, to be a high end price for a living room set - 1 coffee table, 3 end tables, and a 72" TV stand. When we got the pieces, I noticed there were pocket holes all over the place, with some screws exposed and a lot of chipout. I was extremely disappointed, I use pocket screws in some of my very low end projects, such as shop furniture or plywood cabinets. I have made some smaller nice pieces around the house and I would never consider using such low end joinery in nicer wood projects, let alone a $6k living room set (price before shipping, taxes, and guardsman protection)! In my opinion, a "craftsman" making very expensive living room furniture should be using higher quality joinery that is both stronger, and more professional. If you dont know what pocket screws are, google them and watch all the "amateur youtube woodworkers" who use them for lower level projects. This shouldnt be the joinery used on a $6k set (price not including tax and shipping or guardsman protection). Pocket holes have their place and are a much faster form of joinery, but are usually reserved for cabinets or other interior areas or can be filled/covered. I immediately sent a polite email to the store manager after receiving the set with photos. She never responded. A few weeks after the email I did receive a call from someone who left a message and was in operations but I was on vacation. I called that person back and left a message and have not received a return call. I emailed the store manager again, and still no response. As of the date of this review, it has been 7 weeks with no reply. So I feel I have been more than patient and have given them ample time to contact me back or reply to my emails. I started to google the set that I bought to see if others complained about the same thing. Thats when I started to notice other online amish furniture places selling the same set, at significantly lower cost than I paid. I finally found the original maker of my set, but it seems that there are a few amish "craftsman" shops which have a line of furniture they build, and then retail fronts and online stores sell their furniture. I was told by the salesperson that I was buying at the biggest discount the craftsman offered all throughout the year, which I believed at the time, but considering I found other online places and stores selling the same custom ordered pieces for significantly lower, I think I got sold a fib by a good salesperson. Overall, I paid mercedes benz pricing for a toyota corolla. I will likely continue to buy amish or solid wood furniture, but I now know that not all amish "craftsman" are equal and use lower end woodworker joinery in areas where my past amish furniture did not, so I will be sure to look for pocket screws and get clarification on the expectations for my pieces before placing any future orders. The photos attached show the exposed screws and wood tearout all my pieces suffered from. This is what I would expect from Wayfair/IKEA at 25% the price I paid. Before you buy anything from Gish's, google the set and compare pricing with the other dozen sellers who seem to sell the same exact set, with the same exact stain options, with the same exact wood options from the same exact "craftsmen". Some buyers may be perfectly fine with pocket screw construction, exposed screws, and wood tearout - I was not.

The owner is absolutely wonderful, and she has connections to all the best local pickers, and then some. Everything I've ever bought from her (yow, I've probably given her several hundred dollars at this point, I think) is high quality, and it's made to last. There are three stories of furniture, fixtures, decorations and so on. She does take credit card (no minimum), and if you want, she can try and find specific items for you. The prices are great, for the most part, and the higher prices are justifiable, in my opinion. She will negotiate somewhat, but for the most part, her prices are firm. All of her prices are reasonable. She regularly has sales and discounts on various items. Everything there was either beautiful but wayyy too pricy or really cheap. I've been there before and had better luck but yesterday was not great.
