I saw a set of table and chairs online I wanted to purchase in-store. I called ahead to make sure it was in stock. The man I spoke to on the phone was good, but the service was even better when I arrived an hour later to pick up my new table and chairs. Carlos helped get the box in back, then hauled the heavy cart up to the front of the store, helped us check out, then helped us load it in the car AND THEN went above and beyond and helped us un-box the product outside (in the cold) so it would fit it in our small car. This used to be my favorite target in the city. It's so clean and the customer service used to be great. Let me be clear, the ONLY reason I still shop here is out of convenience since it's right by my house. Detailing all of my recent experiences here: - a customer service member there lied about his role there. He said he was the manager, but he was not - drive up has become a joke. they go out of order of who arrived first. what then is the point of checking in on the app ?? - they never answer the phone. if I need to get ahold of someone, I literally have to call the pharmacy, and ask them to ask a manager to pick up the phone. why am I jumping through hoops to get you to do your job ?? - both this location AND WEST LOOP CHICAGO have started doing this thing where if you place a drive up order, and they don't have it in stock, they just give you more of some other thing that you didn't ask for as a replacement ?? very weird behavior not to mention economically inefficient. one can also argue misbranding but given the real life political choices this corporation makes, I'm not surprised that they have found comfort in complacency and being bottom tier idk if it's a new management or if they've lost alot of business and money for openly supporting a lunatic and for pulling back on diversity initiatives, but they should get someone who knows how to run a business Targets all over have really declined. I go here because I like Target. But I wish the company took a more proactive approach to how employees represent the brand. Store cleanliness is usually good, online inventory on certain items is usually a toss-up, employee interaction ranges from good to unappealing. Most of the main staff don't wear uniforms, instead they use whatever shade of red they have and it's hard to tell who you can ask for help. Yesterday, one of them wasn't even wearing shoes. The employee was wearing slippers and socks. If things keep going in this direction, they may as well change all the store signs to blue and call it Wal-Mart. read more

Clearly this Target (or more likely Target corporate) needs to sort out it's priorities! I go to this Target frequently and it's clear they haven't been giving their employees proper support during COVID. They are always out of cart wipes and while other stores normally have someone masked and gloved up cleaning carts, they just have an unmasked security dude standing at the front. Cashiers are clearly overworked and everything feels frantic. There are a lot of cases in the area and I was surprised they never closed for a deep clean or restricted how many people could be in the store at once like most places are doing. All they've done is put up a couple signs about wearing a mask and put some tape marks at the checkouts. Despite not closing to protect workers from sickness they randomly decided to close because of the protests so they can protect their merchandise. There's been no looting in the area (and none in Chicago for more than a week) and every other store in the area is open and doing fine. I drove by the other day and this Target looks like a fortress with carts lined up blocking the entrance and everything boarded up! I was here to return a damaged ink cartridge & handheld hair dryer. This cock eyed girl (not sorry, I'm really upset) working at customer service named Mariah was very rude and disrespectful. She said I can't return the handheld dryer because it's an appliance (it's not an appliance and this isn't visibly stated in their policy). I asked for a manager which appeared to make her mad. Manager 1st said try and process it but she refused. Mariah told me to wait on the manager to handle it, so I did. When talking to manager, Rosario, who she said would handle it, she interjected herself in the conversation. She proceeded to over talk the manager. However, Manager was able to pull up receipt for hair dryer by scanning barcode in the app ( Mariah said she couldn't do). Then on to process the ink cartridge return. Mariah insisted that I had to buy another one because the one I returned was opened. Of course it's open, how else would I try to use it. At this point, I'm wondering whose the manager. Because she's telling Rosario what can and cannot be done. I would've repurchased the ink cartridges because I need them, but she stated I wouldn't get it for the same price I originally paid. So I told her it's a no for me! This upset her. She spoke very condescendingly all while the manager, Rosario was standing there. Rosario seemed u trained on how to handle these types of situations. Or plain and simple, Mariah has no respect for her or anyone else. Mariah continued talking matter of factly like she was warranted for talking nasty to me. Manager stated she will speak with her but did nothing. They both continued on like nothing happened. I called and spoke with the store director Partik who stated he would address this issue with her but I don't think anything will be done since the manager who actually witnessed her nasty attitude didn't address her unwarranted behavior. Witness two African Americans get discriminated against last night. Separate shoppers, one about 35 in age, the other about 61. They both spent over $100. Hispanic Cashier let another Hispanic customer cut the line. She was confronted and instead of rectifying she basically said oh well and began to argue w the customer. When requested the manager, Eithany, intervened by smiling saying "we will talk w her". Her lack of intervention and antagonizing smile was pointed out. The manager got upset and began to argue w the African American customer. The manager continued to merely laugh when the customer gathered her and the other worker named from their badge. This negative review is for target in general. I guess the target brand doesn't allow the workers to put up a sign that says the self checkout machines do not take cash. So the employees are forced to wait until you've entered all of your things into the system and then they come over and have to transfer your transaction to another machine so that you can pay with cash. Instead of just telling you from the get-go and wasting your time. According to the lady it's not on brand for target to put those signs up, well I think that it should be on brand for them to just except cash at all of the machines that have the option to accept cash. It's Target, so what can you say. This one has been around for a while and really has that neighborhood store feel. This location is the one I'll go to if coming home from somewhere along I55, it's just a bit south of the Damen exit. They have a huge parking lot so you can park further away to avoid getting your vehicle dinged up by stray carts. The store is well laid out and clean, cashiers are reasonably quick and friendly. Although smaller, as the larger stores, they do carry groceries, I end up getting some yogurt and other quick staples, there's always something you need or don't need to add to your cart. Even the shoppers are in a decent mood, because this location isn't usually too crowded, so you're not bumping into each other. Definitely will keep coming back when it's along the way. read more

I was at a different Target looking for a set of Funko Pops for my sister. I was trying to buy a set of three. The Target I was at only had one of the three in stock so a team member looked up the stock of all nearby Targets for me and I went over to this location. These two team members in electronics were looking at their tvs and planning on how to move them. I stood near them for a while and then after a few minutes I flagged the guy down. I asked him if he could look up stock for me, explaining that I came from a different location that verified their stock and couldn't find the items on the floor. The guy asked me for the DPCI number and I told him I didn't have it and gave him a description to look up. The description's search results came back with a long list. I also told him I couldn't search for item and pull the DPCI from the Circle app. It doesn't show up for some reason. His team lead, Evelyn comes up and hears our conversation and gives me an attitude for no reason. I explain to her I don't have the DPCI number and she gets confrontational. She asked me how I got it at the other store, and I told her the other store scanned one for me and found the other two related items. She just made the entire experience uncomfortable. I told her I understand but I don't have it and she seemed angry that I couldn't magically give her a DPCI number I didn't have. She gives me an attitude and says I don't understand. I'm not sure why she was a condescending b%*#@ to me for no reason. I understand what a DPCI number is, I use to work at Target. This is not how you treat a customer or in Target's case, a guest. She was probably the Team Lead for electronics. I figured out I could just search on brickseek and a third guy came up and helped me unsuccessfully. I know it's the best organized store since i believe the cliental there can be a bit ghetto. This store is located in Mckinley Park just outside of lovely Bridgeport we share this Target with at least two different neighborhoods. Customer friendly employees I haven't had a problem with them. I have had issues with the snack area being a little messy and dirty. The slurpee machines aren't always working and that makes me sad when I was all set to get a slurpee. I am probably going to this Target because the location is just convenient if it were my husbands option he'd drive all the way to Jackson in the West Loop to a Target. read more

Things have finally changed in this Target! I go here frequently and every time I am greeted by most of the staff that are walking around. I hope it is not just a seasonal change but a permanent one. It makes it inviting when people are friendly. Recently I lost my glasses and a sales associate who was so kind left his station to help me for 15 minutes to help me find it. He made sure it was recorded in their ledger. Sadly someone took my prescription glasses that must have fallen in the Men's section. The cashier had forgotten to put an item in my bag that I found out when I returned home. I went right back and they made no fuss and let me take another item. I generally love all their products there. Their employees are all so friendly. Not sure how it all changed, but I am thrilled. I love shopping here almost daily. The parking is excellent. It's not hard at all to rate a Target location. Was everything that I was looking for something that I was able to find? It actually was. Was it easy to find those items I was looking for? Yes, the areas of this Target are well-organized, stocked properly and clear of random items thrown about to confuse people. What about the staff? They were nothing but friendly, and I was even asked TWICE by passing-by employees if I was finding everything alright and if I needed any help. And the place itself in general? I like that the aisles here are fairly wide and can fit shopping carts comfortably with ample passing room. There was no garbage or product strewn all over the floor like I've seen in other stores. The parking lot is huge (almost TOO huge) and it's interesting to see not one but TWO food areas (Pizza Hut and Starbucks) by the registers for pre- or post-shopping snacks and drinks. Had I not been carrying over 30 pounds of items already, I would have contemplated a soft pretzel for the long walk home. Oh yea, bonus points for being within walking distance from the apartment. This is my #1 stop for anything I can't find at Dominick's, which is much closer to the apartment. I WILL be back, Target. read more

I haven't been to this Target in a long time, but I forgot how much I liked it. It's a huge Target kind of in the middle of nothing so it's gigantic. The parking lot is massive (I have honestly never seen this many handicapped spaces - have you?) and there's never a shortage of space. This Target is always clean and organized. I've never seen such an organized $1 section in any Target! How do they do it?! I love the layout of this store. It's a bit different than the others in the city - the pharmacy, OTC and pet sections are in the front of the store on the "right side" (right of the entrance) instead of the other way. I'm not sure why, but this is more pleasing to me than the other layout. My friend and I had a good time perusing the great sections of scrapbooking and stationary items. Lots was on clearance so we were very happy with our purchases. I'll be back here one day, but the Target on Elston is within walking distance of my house and this one on Damen is insanely far away. If you live nearby, go! Though, the one on Roosevelt is way bigger and cooler because it's a super Target with two floors. I'm just saying. read more

This is a well run store with a wide selection of items sold at or near the lowest available retail prices in Chicago in comparison to Walmart, Best Buy, Dominick's, Walgreens, Jewel/Osco, etc. A few minor complaints: 1) This place is always very busy, typically with shoppers carting around their screaming children. Don't go here if you already have a headache or are otherwise aggravated. 2) Going to this Target is never a quick trip, and that is due to the layout of the store and parking lot. The store itself is huge, and the parking lot does not have any spaces that are particularly close to the entrance, so running in-and-out for even one thing takes at least 15 minutes. 3) It seems understaffed. That said, the staff on hand do a very good job attending to customer needs. read more

I'm generally a fan of Target, but this one bites. Staff is nonexistent when you need help. After searching around for awhile for an associate, hubs and I walked over to the fitting room lady to see if she could help us (or call someone who could). I waited while she helped another guest, a girl who walked out of the fitting room in her underwear (Wow! Seriously?) and as she turned back to me, another women stepped in front of me. Rather than asking the lady to wait her turn the associate acted like she didn't see me. We walked away, irritated and pretty turned off, decided to go to the service desk. We had looked up the item we wanted on the Target website, which said the store had it in stock, but we could not find it on the floor. We explained this to the associate at the service desk, who spent several minutes trying to call someone to help her. Finally she got an answer. Then we heard her ask the other person to check for the item. I assumed she meant they would check the stock room, since we'd already told her we did not see the item in it's designated place. I guess they don't have a stock room here. We heard them go back and forth about how the item was not in it's place on the floor (no sh*t Sherlock, didn't we tell you that already?) Finally, 10 minutes after asking what I thought was a pretty straight-forward question, we were told that they had indeed confirmed that the item was not "in stock" since it was not on the floor. I asked why the website was saying they had the item. "That means we had it at 8 am this morning. Someone must have bought it since then." (It was 2:00 pm). So take note. Apparently Target does not use real time status of their inventory (And having worked in retail, I know for a fact is actually pretty easy. And a little weird that Target can't keep track of their stock!!!) Thanks Target, for offering to check the online status of the item at other area Targets (which I had already done on my cell phone), so that we could potentially spend our Sunday driving around only to find out that their counts are also off, only to encounter unfriendly and unhelpful associates, rude customers, and only to end our day, again, out of luck. We'll find it at another vendor instead and save ourselves the headache. read more

I am anti Wal Mart, but I heart Target. Hey, you can't boycott everything! I have to shop somewhere besides thrift stores. Anyway, this Target is pretty much laid out like any other Target. The one on Roosevelt and Clark is confusing! Don't go there. One of the reasons for going to a chain department store is because no matter which one you go to, it's pretty much laid out the same way. You'll be able to find your way around here easily if you've never been to this Target. My cat's food is cheapest here, their Archer Farms brand of food is good and reasonably priced (the dry fruit can be kind of pricey though). They sell AF soy milk too, and edamame. They have a little frozen vegetarian section, and their brand of frozen flax waffles are vegan (as far as I can tell). So if I run out of waffles, I don't have to go all the way to Whole Foods (can't find eggless or milkless waffles anywhere else in the area). Also, I can use their ATM for free (it's in the network of my online bank :-) ). Sadly, it sometimes takes them a while longer than other [ahem Northside?] Targets to get re-stocked on certain things (like 5 disc CD changers! le sigh). Such is life on the Southside. read more

He basically gave me crap because I had "used it" (read- plugged it in and used it for 2 nights) stating Targets "Policy" was no returns on used items. This was the Target of choice for me when I used to live in Bridgeport. When they first built this place at the corner of Damen and 33rd(?), I was somewhat surprised, but I guess it's doing pretty well. This Target is LARGE. Square footage wise, I'm not sure how it compares to the one in the South Loop because Solo's is split, but McKinley Park's is very large. Even the parking lot is gigantic. Never did I have to park more than 6 or 7 rows down because it's just so spacious. The layout is clean and fairly intuitive, and I always went during off-peak hours so I had time to look around at all the interesting things that I might like to purchase while also shopping for the things that I needed. For daily items (think cleaning supplies, laundry, dishes, bedding, etc) everything was always easily available. Sometimes for specialty electronics, they wouldn't have what I was looking for. For example, I had to go to the Target on Elston to find a bread maker because they were out of stock at the McKinley Park Location. I would probably just check online first if you have such an item you need, because usually they will list the stock they have left. Other than that, it's a great place to shop in almost the middle of nowhere with friendly people. read more

I have always had great luck with their cashiers-(yes I'm a coupon freak) and the cashiers don't bat an eye when I hand over a stack of coupons for my purchase. Best deal so far??? 3 packs of diapers after coupons and Target GC with purchase for $4!!!! by the way...great clearance section for maternity items......in the summer I scored tanks, jeans and dress slacks for work (that fit like designer!) for less than $9 each......not bad for only having to wear a few months! read more
