And it is quite a distance for those who don't have a Target wherever they live in New York City, especially Manhattan. This is my local Target. And I like Target, but this is the most poorly-managed Target I have ever seen. I don't mind a crowd, or children, but things are always out-of-stock, and that which is in-stock on the shelves never match the little labels on the shelves. The line employees are friendly enough, and if you're scrappy you can always find a short checkout line, but whomever is in charge of stocking the shelves should be sent back to K-Mart. read more

My near-hatred of Atlantic Terminal has to be put aside, as this is the Target that I have the easiest access to in terms of public transportation. I actually love their clothing selection here! It's always well stocked, though the area they put the clothing is quite packed. I can find casual clothing and stuff for work as well. And thank goodness for cheap bathing suit separates. The bedding section is also good as well. Many a blanket and pillow I have bought from here. It's been a few years since I last went to a target. When you live in manhattan and do not have a car, you don't go to target. So while we were in this area, we figured we would check out target. Place is a mess, some aisle were more stocked than others. But prices were cheap! I mean when compared to fairway or food emporium, some of the basics were cheaper and we ended up buying some random household items. It's target and it's nearby. It's VERY limited compared to other targets I've been to, but it comes in handy in a pinch (like last min x-mas shopping for mom.) You will see some ghetto ass shit here, but at the same time, you'll see a couple of fine ass chics shopping, too. Target is Target. Don't expect anything fancy or different at this location. They have household items, groceries, clothing, cleaning supplies, and makeup. I come here for bulk items like toilet paper and paper towels because sometimes I feel strong enough to carry large things home. Their prices are good for some items (tip: you can find cheaper ice cream here!) but I don't think of them as particularly inexpensive. The clothing is cheaply made and more expensive than it's worth, look at the sales rack if you want any sort of deal (although their bras and underwear section is solid, tights are pretty good too). This location is fairly clean and there are typically enough employees staffed for the lines to be relatively short, especially during off-peak hours (you can get behind one or two people pretty easily). The customer service is usually pretty poor so if you want someone to give you directions around or move efficiently through the checkout line, don't expect too much. Here's my recommendation: Go online if you are looking for something in particular--make sure they have it in stock. Get to this Target on a Sunday morning. Be the first in and the first out. Get your toilet paper, treat yourself to some Ben & Jerry's, and go elsewhere for more quality, both in items and customer service. I promise, Target is not the only inexpensive place around. I just got back from visiting my girlfriend's family in Missouri. I mentioned that I like Target, and even got my wedding dress on Target.com, so they took me ot the local store. OMG! it was amazing! I hadn't seen such selection in a Target, maybe ever, and I've been to ones in the suburb's before. I was from suburbs, in California. In fact my high school boyfriend worked at our local Target for years and years. But this one in Missouri, well it was special. So many things to choose from, and beautiful choices. I was in love. This experience just went to show me how lacking the Brooklyn Target is. The employees are rude...there is so little variety,,, its sad. And everyone on this thread is totally right, it is a pit. When you think of Target... aka Tar-jay... this is NOT what you think of. From the outside, it's quite misleading because it looks like any other Target. But once you step inside it's immediate chaos. The crowds are insane at almost any time of day, any day of the week. The store is disorganized and appears grungy with items falling off the shelves, mis-shelved, carts knocked over. It's pretty awful. Most of the staff is rude but our cashier was actually pleasant, which is the reason for the extra star. I am being nice and giving them a two cause I always need help for some reason when I go in there and I want to keep my good Target Karma (meaning most of the time the employees are nice to me even if they lead my on a wild goose chase through that monster) So my real complaint is that it always looks like the end of the world is coming in there. I used to shop at this Target when it was one of the first in the city. (Targets have since opened in Harlem, the Bronx, and other parts of Brooklyn). I then shopped here another few times when I first moved to Brooklyn and had not realized that there was a nicer Target on Flatbush Avenue and that the local stores sold many of the same housewares for less. These days I mostly use Target as a pass through to get from the Atlantic Terminal side of the mall to the side that houses Marshalls, Burlington and Best Buy. I have never seen a Target store in such sorry shape. I agree with the reviews that this store frequently runs out of merchandise and the employees are generally far less than helpful. One other observation is that the clothing section frequently appears to have been ransacked by wolves with absolute heaps of clothing dumped onto the floor. On my most recent visit about 10 days ago on a Wednesday (desperate to find t-shirts for an upcoming tropical vacation) I stopped in in search of cheap T-shirts. There basically weren't any in my size (medium). On the few other recent occasions where I was able to find stuff that I wanted, like a toaster oven or an over-the-toilet organizer, the lines were both long and poorly managed. It was difficult to determine which line corresponded with which register, and there was a long line to the far left of the store, almost to the catwalk, which was apparently dedicated to the first 5 registers. Just save yourself the hassle and visit the Flatbush Avenue Target instead. It's cleaner and better managed. read more

I was staying in battery park, and needed a target asap. This was the closest one, as there are NONE in manhattan. Very easy to get to on the subway. Directly across from the Barclays center as well. I have been to alot of Target stores .. And this one is at the bottom of the totem pole. First , there are 3 elevators that go from the lower level of the building to the first floor of Target. It takes FOREVER for these THREE elevators to move between 2 floors. How ??? This Target is very unorganized. I dont even dare step into the food section. One annoying thing is that there are always employees blocking isles & walkways with endless amounts of carts full of products. They appear to be "stocking" .. Yet so many items in this Target are always out of stock. Mind blowing. Customer Service is HORRIBLE. Unproffesional. Rude. Unpleasant. A bunch of employees who could care less. & some are not educated on store/insurance policies (electronics section). Lastly, this place gets PACKED. Its hell. So many people in disorganized lines and only a few lanes open for checkout. This location closes at 12am mon-sat .. So I come late at night to avoid the chaos. So either that or going early in the morning is your best bet. The good thing about this location is that it is VERY easily accessible (public transportation). I love that its very close to my house so I dont even need to take the train .. But other than that I have no other Pro's to say about this Target. read more

I was one time asked what i meant by a "fan" for a bed room. I then had to explain what a fan was literally had to explain that it was something that blew air around a room. The sales person after about 5 mins of me explaining said no i dont think those exist and walked away. I like shopping at Target, but I think this store suffers tremendously from a lack of effective inventory management. Outside of needing Tide, Downy & Listerine I don't bother shopping here because there's a good chance that what I need won't be in stock - and it turns into a waste ot time. In terms of Targets, yeah, this one is not the best. It's always crowded and always out of stock. The staff, however, is pretty helpful and it is surprisingly big for being in smack-dab in the middle of Brooklyn. What you really can't beat though is that this is one of the few (if not only) Targets in the city. And while I support small businesses as much as I can, as a young 20-something scraping by, sometimes you need to get your gallon jar of peanut butter for $4. read more

It's so sad to see a Target actually get only 2 star reviews. I am a HUGE FAN of Target. Maybe because i've been deprived of one for so long. When I went today, there weren't too many people. Though the workers weren't super duper friendly or anything, I was more or less expected and they give me all the right directions to find what I needed. I spent about 3 hours exhausting about every aisle of target. They are pretty much cheaper for generic brands than any store you know, and they always have these promotion prices for popular items. Bought quite a bit and saved a bundle. Definitely coming back when school starts. read more

Was super excited about visiting this target to stock up on some home supplies, get some decorative items, and maybe even browse through the clothing for some deals. this target was pretty terrible. i was there on a weekday evening and sadly i have to echo the sentiments shared by many fellow yelpers (cant say you didnt warn me). it was hard to find anyone to ask for help. when i did find someone they werent particularly helpful (or friendly). i could get over that, after all i am a self sufficient shopper, but that is really hard to do when they are out of stock of seemingly everything! they seemed to be ok with the basic items (think hand soap, shampoo) but any of their specialty (mind you higher tag items) were quite elusive. i sadly walked out with only about 1/4 of the items i was after and left feeling like the trip out there was not worth it at all. maybe ill give the harlem one a shot next time. just maybe though. read more

A busy Sunday at Target right before back to school season - everyone's worst nightmare, am I right? This location is interesting being that it's in downtown Brooklyn. Prepare to pay for parking in the garage ($4 for two hours - reasonable), or search for a long time for street parking in a one-way. For the amount of people in there, the store seemed pretty stocked and organized. The people in there will make your head spin - nobody looks where they're going and they'll barrel right into you down the aisles, eesh. That's the same at most Targets though, I guess. There weren't many employees around the store except for at registers, but I know exactly where to find things so that was no big deal. They were out of a couple of things I needed, which was a bummer. No command hooks for the bathroom this time. Cashier scanned my cartwheel app and I don't think all of them worked, but he just giggled when it only saved me $1. At that point I needed out and just said screw it. Will obviously go back, because Target has mystical, luring powers. Also, it's the closest location to me without going way out into no man's land. read more

Target is great for bulk items, discounted groceries and killing lots and lots of time while waiting in line since only 3 cashiers are "working". Sorry for my negativity, but this place is kind of a dump with terrible service. It's better than most stores in this shopping center, but that doesn't say much. You can shop for 15 minutes and wait in line for 20. That's just not right. People are lazy and very unhelpful, but if you need 10 rolls of paper towels, 20 rolls of toilet paper and extra large containers of laundry detergent this is the place for you. read more

If I could give this less than 1 star I would. I would rather die than go to this Target. If you need to go to a Target in the vicinity, go to the Target on the other end of Flatbush by Brooklyn College. That one is way better. So, a little about my experience at this hell hole. I had literally been living in Brooklyn for less than 24 hours. There were things I had to get like toilet paper, paper towels, a broom, a mop. You know, the normal stuff you need. The store looked like a tornado had gone through there. Shelves were in complete disarray and entire sections were missing. Normal things like baby diapers could not be found except for a few random packs thrown around. They did not have a broom anywhere in the place. It was awful. I bought my stuff after waiting in line forever only to be told that I could not take the cart out to the car. Hello, I had a lot of crap (paper towels, TP, a mop) that I ended up having to schlep to the parking deck at which point I ended up having a complete meltdown because the experience was that awful. Thankfully, the other Target by Brooklyn College was well stocked, the employees were helpful and you could take your cart to your car. read more

I can't make it over to Sephora anymore and I can no longer afford to shop online at SkinCare Rx. They also help me take care of an office (I am talking cleaning supplies here). For a very long time, I was getting Archer Farms by the truckload for health food-ish items and such ... their house brands (including Up and Up) are a great value. There's a Target nearer my home, that's nicer. But it's a little out of my way sometimes, with my commute patterns. (I mean, people really like THAT Target better, on the whole.) PHARMACY only. It never ceases to disappoint me. Again and again, I leave with a wide grin and a spring in my step. The pharmacists are some of the nicest people I've had absolute PLEASURE doing business with. I usually support small business, but the PHARMACY at this particular Target is great!!! The prices at the pharmacy are the best around - which is great, especially if your insurance (or lack of) doesn't cover your RX. And MOST IMPORTANTLY the pharmacists are really helpful and caring. I've been coming to this Target for a million years. It's where I bought my first tent back when I thought camping was a good idea. It's currently under renovation so nothing is where it's supposed to be. I've had way better experiences here than the other day: I came in looking for a gift for a baby shower. I had looked it up on line to make sure they had it. I looked around in the baby section, and couldn't find it, so I asked a sales girl. She looked around, noticed it was not where it was supposed to be, looked it up on her target device thing, where it stated one was in stock. Then she took a phone call from her dad. She called over her supervisor who looked at the shelf and said, "we don't have it." I explained not only did the website state she had it, but so did the target device the girl was using. "Well, show me." So I tried to pull up the target website... unfortunately service is not that good in target and my phone wouldn't pull it up. The supervisor got frustrated and looked it up on her own target device (why she didn't do this from the beginning), and there it was. "Wait here," a half hour later she presented me with the item I was looking for. The packaging was sticky. Luckily I didn't need the packaging. Target is target..... you know? When visiting my buddies, the first thing I set out to do was buy personal hygiene items, etc. They didn't carry my favorite body wash so I had to deduct a point. They are usually in all other targets that I've been to. I also stopped by the shoe section and was pleased to fine a variety of sandals ranging from size 5 and beyond. Standard 3. Considering that this is a big corporation, the only thing I can possibly expect is for target to be slightly neater than Walmart. So it really is a standard 3 with limited stock geared towards basic necessities, not so much if you're looking for extreme home improvements. I gave this place an added star for two reasons: The lines were not long and moving! Nice ladies working, too! read more

Pros: Everything you need in one store! I especially recommend their home decor section (the Threshold and Nate Berkus brands carry awesome things) and their candle section (they carry a wide range of candles in different colors, sizes and scents). The space is big and easy to get around, especially if you have a stroller. Plus it's great if you have a child because they have an awesome toy section. Cons: The employees are not professional. They are usually chatting among themselves and look bothered when you ask them for help. I understand it can be difficult working in retail, but a smile goes a long way :) ALSO, their shopping carts are not well kept. They are sometimes broken or left with garbage inside. read more
