Loved this little place! Just a short walk from our hotel. Very nice ambiance, friendly staff, and great service. Great place for breakfast or lunch, or tea and sweet treats. I had a delicious toasty with ham and some of the wonderful Irish cheese, which came with a nice little salad. The honey mustard dressing was really yummy. I had some delicious Lemon Drizzle cake with a dish of fresh whipped cream, and got a slice of apple cake to go after hearing a regular customer rave about it. Also delicious! Planning to stop by on our way out of town for some to-go treats. I read some reviews with complaints about price, but honestly I think the prices are reasonable for the quality and portions that are served. read more

This has become my favorite spot in Cork!! It's such a special place. The interior is cozy and reminds me of visiting my aunt's house when I was a kid. There's little decorative gnomes and china everywhere. The space is relatively small, but the restaurant makes good use of it by squeezing in as many tables as possible without making it feel too crowded. Even though this place isn't something my boyfriend would typically enjoy, he loves the steak and mushroom baguette. He was also impressed by the quality of the fries that come with it, although he didn't touch the salad (I did, and it was lovely). I always order the afternoon tea. For 20€, it's more than enough food and it's beautifully presented. Every time it's served, I feel like a princess. This is definitely the place to go if you need to treat yourself and embrace your feminine energy. read more

Tara's tea room is an eclectic little place on MacCurtain street. Small in physical size but decorated so charming! I first stopped in for some tea on a rainy afternoon. I was looking to take it on the go and they easily accommodated. They allowed me to make my teas how I wanted them! Took a few extra minutes but it was fresh and how I liked it! My daughter tried their lemonade and it was a win. We accidentally had a spill and the staff was super nice about it and helpful cleaning it up. Thanks! The next day I returned for breakfast. My daughter had their pancakes which came with real maple syrup. Their pancakes are a little closer to a US crepe without a filling. But there are 2 on your plate and plenty! I had scrambled eggs, toast and bacon. The bacon looks like ham but tasted like the bacon we love in the states! Everything was delicious and you could taste it's freshness. My daughter was over the moon with her hot chocolate, probably one of the prettiest I've seen (besides for Serendipity in NYC.) I had their Irish tea. Very close to Earl but stronger. Our Guest house recommended Tara's. But with COVID we walked up just as they were closing at 5pm on a Wednesday. So we got 2 teas to go, and a cookie. The service was super nice and the tea and cookie hit the spot. I would love to spend time earlier in the day as the decor is lovely and the baked goods are a treasure for the eyes. read more

Nice and cozy place to enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in cork. The decoration is really vintage with all these Chinese cups but I like it ! The music is really retro and I really appreciated it ! Great breakfast with friends at Tara's - I had the veg breakfast, my wife had scrambled eggs with a scone and our friend had the medium breakfast with a pot of tea. Espresso and coffee drinks were top notch and the staff was super friendly. Only a small knock for getting poached eggs that were a little over done. The place is a tad small so may have to wait for a table but well worth the wait. If we go back we'll ask to swap the regular toast for soda bread. read more

Had a mini break down in Cork this weekend and came across this gem of a place on Saturday morning. So good we came back the next day! Gorgeous little tea room with great decor and proper china tea sets. Wide selection of breakfasts. I opted for the mini fry the first day - sausages, bacon, pudding, tomato, egg and mushrooms paired off with doorstep thick toast. Every mouthful tasty. Got slightly jealous of my friend with her pancakes though so had to go for this today! Soft fluffy pancakes topped with fruit salad and lashings of maple syrup - yum! Must have had about 15 home baked cakes on display though and I made sure to take a piece away with me for the trip home. If you're going to Cork make sure you head to this place - great service and great food. read more

Great tea house! Lots if local people came in around 12/12:30. I had the Medium Breakfast, which was good and my pot of tea was excellent too. I love the decor and feeling in the place and the staff are very nice. I might try a scone or some other pastries next time as they looked great! While traveling Ireland with a friend, we tried many different establishments. Tara's one of the only ones we went to twice. The kind service, quaintly mismatched china, and sweet interior all worked together to make us feel at home and comfortable. The tea itself and its presentation were fantastic; I drank a whole pot both times we went. The first visit, we kept our breakfast light and had a scone. It was delicious and warm with raisins scattered throughout the flaky dough. The second visit, we each ordered the mid-sized Irish breakfast option. It was outstanding and filling. We left for Dublin directly after, and the breakfast kept me full during the entire trek. I would definitely recommend Tara's to both out-of-towners and locals; it was fantastic! read more

If you are looking for a real tea room (serves tea in china cups), but one that is not too upmarket, more homely, then this is your place. Excellent selection on the menu, as well as the usual tea and scones/cakes, they do breakfast, and substantial meals. Something for all tastes. Very polite and friendly staff. I had an open spicy beef sandwich, with pickles, homemade relish and garnish. Generous portion and no skimping on the meat! Very tasty! No pressure on you to hurry up and leave, nice and relaxed. I really loved the coziness and sweet decor of this place. They had a decent tea selection, though I would've liked to see more black teas, but my sisters and I each ordered a pot of something different, and we were all very pleased. The pots, teacups, and tea plates are all mismatched, which I loved! It was so cute. I got a veggie panini, and had a hunch it would come with mushrooms. I asked, they said it did, so I asked for it to come without. Unfortunately it still arrived with 2 or 3 hidden in there, which was disappointing, but it could be worse.
