Pie with chips
Armin M.

This place was alright. Service was not that great, when we walked in the guy was kinda rude. We got the beamish pie with chips which wasn't bad. The pie basically tastes like a beef stew with hints of Beamish (famous beer in Cork). The food came out very fast tho. The ambiance is nice, it wasn't very crowded when we went in which was good.

Soup of the day Potato & Leek with amazing bread accompaniment

Prefect at every turn! Opens at noon despite various internet post to the contrary. Don't miss the specials of the day. Our Potato & Leek soup of the day was delicious and the bread with it incredible! But the House Beef and Beamish pie is not to be missed.

Gallagher's has a really fun vibe and good food to boot. The menu has a varied style of options along with a decent selection of beers. I would definitely come back again.

You won't be disappointed with this items, a friendly service, and it has his food with Gallagher. The employees are all great and both the roast of the day (chicken) and burgers were delicious. Clean toilets available for customers.

One of the best pub food we've had in Ireland. The pie was rich with flavors and meat was as tender I've had in a long time. The corned beef sandwich really hit the spot. Perfect bread and the melted cheese made this the perfect sandwich. We ended up going back the next day. Highly recommend.

This was a convenient spot near our hotel in Cork. They take reservations, which I recommend as it's not very big. The food was good. I just found it lacked flavor. It also was pretty expensive. The staff were very nice though.

We arrived around 5pm with no reservations. They were nice and allowed us to be served provided we finish within an hour. No problem! Great traditional Irish meal with a classic pub atmosphere. Learned the pub is named after Rory Gallager who lived above the pub for a time. Highly recommend if you are in Cork!

Home of two popular Murphys, Cork has birthed Cillian Murphy and Murphy's beer. You can contemplate one and taste the other while sitting in this wonderful little pub. The group I was with had nothing but great things to say about the food, and I really enjoyed the beer, namely Murphy's. It has a delicious chocolate finish and is less bitter than Guinness; in fact, it's my unpopular opinion that I believe Murphy's to better than Guinness (please no violence). The service is great and the staff very kind. With an inviting atmosphere, this place is one where you want to stay awhile with a book or journal. Take time to enjoy the small things in life because those are what make life enjoyable. Enjoy!

Fish and chips and mushy pees

The food was really good. We almost walked out due to the guy who sat us. He was rude to us as we walked in, but we decided to give it a try due to the yelp reviews. I had fish and chips and one friend had cauliflower steak which was really delicious and unusual. My other friend had meat pie with mashed potatoes. The waitress gave great recommendations and was very friendly. I had a Paloma which was tasty and they drank a Merlot. Overall I would recommend.

The food was delicious! I still think about this meal all the time! They had great options!

Best fish and chips I had while visiting Cork! My daughter had the chicken sandwich and loved it too.

More of a upscale pub with clean food options - if you're tired of fish and chips. A great location and nice service.

Great atmosphere in an incredibly cute and historical town. What's not to like? The beer was great but the soup was okay.

Fantastic place!! My first experience here was HORRIBLE!!! Let me explain. I was on an absolutely…read morediabolical first (and last) date. Dude showed up LATE even though he had asked to change the time to early, made fun of my outfit, and that wasnt even the worst part. When I arrived the place, it looked amazing. Ambience was dark yet cozy, employees were friendly, and the food and cocktails seemed simply delectable. I thought if the date was trash (which it was) at least the libations would be decent. WRONG! This clown of a man talked for an hour and 45 minutes and didn't order a thing! Well he ordered water and asked for some bitters in it. I ordered a cocktail which was wonderful but I had to fight through a barrage of non stop self agrandizement to even get him to take a break so I could suggest ordering something. (Mind you he suggested this place!) If you don't want to eat don't ask me to meet you at a restaurant! Anyway I extricated myself and went to the grocery store as I was hungry, vowing to return. I came back several days later and it was AMAZING! The food is so so delicious and inventive and the menus switches every so often (at least the appetizers do) The cocktails are lovely, and if you're looking for an off the menu boozy treat get the holywater...but maybe don't have more than two. Staff is always so kind and service top notch! This has become one of my most frequented spots. So thank you James for that hideous date. You were more helpful than you ever could know.

For food, we got their beef dip (apparently the most popular dish- with food reason) and the chicken katsu sandwich with tonkatsu sauce! The meat in the beef dip sandwich was super tender and was extra yummy when dipped in their gravy. The katsu burger was such an innovative way to transform a favorite dish, the tonkatsu sauce was to die for. We got several rounds of drinks as pictured, all were good and the staff made sure we enjoyed them the entire time we were there. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would definitely come back if I'm ever back in the area!

There's a front bar where you can grab food, there's a back bar with a smoking area that sometimes has a DJ, and an upstairs that feels more like a proper cocktail bar - and probably more areas I've yet to explore. The food smelled delicious and I would've totally tried it had I not eaten before. I explored around a bit and ultimately hung out upstairs at the bar. The bartender that night was so friendly! We talked about everything from art to travel to politics. She was the best and made a mean cocktail. Not to mention, the entire place is decorated fantastically. It used to be an old pharmacy and ties in a lot of that history into the decor, including a bar made of old pharmacy ledgers. You could spend so much time just looking around at all the details and exploring each room. I hear it gets pretty lively here on weekends, especially with the college kids, but this particular Monday night was fairly quiet. I would definitely return if I'm ever in Cork again!

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

All the meat is Irish, the fish from Star Seafoods, a local Kenmare fishmonger, and the produce is from the Wild Irish Way (coastal western Ireland) wherever possible. I had two "starters" for my lunch, both specials so I can't get the details from the menu now. The first was a baked goat cheese and chorizo tart. Made with a phyllo pastry, and served over greens. Everything about it was perfect: the phyllo so light that it shattered when cut yet it wasn't dry. The cheese was golden brown on top from broiling. The chorizo was in tiny pieces scattered on top so it didn't overwhelm. The two or three kinds of lettuce greens underneath were light and delicate. My other dish was a fish cake, fish and potatoes actually. Fried to a beautiful golden brown, drizzled with a balsamic vinegar sauce, and served over more of those excellent greens, this time dressed with vinaigrette. The dill on top was more than a decoration, it was lighter in flavor than most, and the flavor complemented well. It was a very attractive presentation; even the dish it was served on was pretty. I didn't try the wife's Cottage Pie: minced steak and potatoes topped with mashed potatoes and Dublin Cheddar but she did like it. And it was also attractive, with the potato crust ruffled and the peaks perfectly browned. Garnished with parsley. Like my dishes, visually beautiful. We shared a banoffie pie for dessert. This is uncommon in the US but I might compare it to a banana cream pie with caramel sauce addition. Ok but not really my thing, and too much cream filling for the amount of crust. That's all I remember about this great meal. Looking at the menu just now I don't see my items on the menu as they were specials. I was surprised and pleased by the prices of the standard items, most of which were below average for the area, especially for a place that describes itself a "gastropub".

It was all really good, and that our order was taken and delivered fast and friendly.
