Fish and chips, deep water Atlantic prawns in tempura batter
    Christina N.

Quinlan's was a place we stumbled upon while looking for a lunch place without a wait. And as we were looking at the menu posted outside, people leaving told us that that their meals were delicious. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and wasn't busy since we came in a little later in the day. I ordered the Deep Water Atlantic Prawns in Tempura Batter and it was good, filling meal. The prawns weren't large, but they gave a lot. The fries/chips were also hot and crispy. The side salad that came with it was nice, but everything on it was pickled (?), so not my favorite.

I had Quinlan's Seafood Bar bookmarked because I wanted to try some seafood while in Ireland, and it was near our hotel. It's hard to go out to dinner when you've been out exploring all day, and have a jetlagged 8 month-old. So we decided to order for take-out. We had: -Homemade Seafood Chowder (chunks of fresh & smoked fish, prawns and mussels with diced vegetables in a seafood cream sauce and served with brown bread) - too salty, but the brown bread really helped -Traditional Beer Battered Fish and Chips (with real potato chips served with a lemon wedge & tartar sauce, homemade mushy peas & curry sauce) - this wasn't bad but I wouldn't recommend it for takeout -Pan-fried Filet of Seabass (pan fried fillets of sea bass with shrimp and mussels' risotto, white wine, marinated tomatoes & pea shoots) - the seabass was good, but the risotto was very salty Overall, it seems like the seafood is pretty fresh but they are heavy-handed on the salt here. I think a dine-in experience would have been much better - just be sure to tell them to go light on the salt.

Menu, I miss it was deep fried. That's on me. This tasted like oil.

I don't no how there are so many good ratings came from but not our experience . Because quite honestly, we had a horrible few meals. We had the fish/seafood pancakes as appetizers, the salmon dish, and the local squid dish as main course "local Dingle squid". Unfortunately, I missed that it was deep fried squid. And it would've been horrible as an appetizer too. This squid was fried too much and chewy. It had absolutely no seasoning. The fries were hard and not good. Almost - cold. I asked for sauces as I desperately tried to salvage the meal. They gave me Ketchup. Mayonnaise And malt vinegar. (Of course) Nothing worked. The key issue was that there was no seasoning on the squid and it was really, really disappointing. Their signature chili sauce was nothing more than their pickled red onions we had on our other dishes- chopped up with some kind type of jolt (ie sauce added). It was disappointing and missed the mark. I could not finish the meal. And I eat most anything. The salmon was overcooked. But side - the couscous and olives was actually very nice Going back to the fish pancakes, there are more like fried fish cakes, or crabcakes. They were OK. But mushy on the inside. The timing for seating was unfortunately. Look at the front door which blew on us full gale force wind (ok. Not a gale but enough that it was blowing our hair the whole time). Don't sit there. Hostess and staff seemed to work hard. But when asked did I like the meal by hostess and I said "no" - she walked away.

Had fish and chips. The fish was haddock and was good. The mushy peas were good and were seasoned differently than I had before which were very refreshing. Wanted to have my meal with a pint of beer but the employee said they only had one kind and were out of the rest. Then a couple sat next to us and ordered something else, the employee said they were out of something. After she left, I joked with the couple that they might as well change the menu since they were out of quite a few things both parties asked for. LOL Overall, I'd come back because the food was good... what they did have. LOL

A must stop for seafood if you're travelling through Cork. Their seafood chowder, seafood pie, and fish 'n chips were excellent. Don't forget to end your meal here with the sticky toffee pudding! The service and ambience were also great!!

Came here for dinner tonight. It is a very nicely decorated. We were greeted immediately by the receptionist to the table. The server who took our orders was a bit direct maybe seeing me with 3 young adults & touristy looking and not ordering drinks or wine. Food is towards the expensive end which I wasn't expected with the previous reviews. Maybe lunch has a different menu. I have to say the wild squid was very fresh, fish cakes is nothing like the Thai ones but it is nicely deep fried with a nice crest on the outside. Fish & Chips is awesome especially the batter. It is not oily at all. One disappointment is the salad on the side. Not sure if they accidentally put too much salt on it, it was a bit too salty for me.

Good food and super friendly staff. The highlight of this place is of course the quality of the seafood. The BF was going to order cod fish and chips but after promptly asking the waitress which fish was the flakiest, we were told the hake multiple times. The hake fish and chips was indeed the flakiest. The mashed peas were really creamy and the tartar sauce was home made I feel. The seafood chowder is well made but pretty salty. The shrimp sandwich was pretty straight forward as you can see in the picture. The seabass was pan sear perfectly and the risotto was not al dente (just the way we like it). When asked how was the meal, we said everything was good except the chowder which was salty, but because I was hungry, I managed through my half portion while the full portion was barely touched. Again, honest feedback with no expectations. The manager took it off our bill which was unexpected. Worth a stop.

Fish and chips was delicious, along with the seafood chowder it was an unbeatable combo. Great vibes and a very nice place to eat.

Service was friendly from the moment we walked in to ask the host of seats. Server came right away, drinks and food came quickly and we were "checked on" multiple times. The food was excellent - fresh, a lot of good options and a good amount of food in each dish. Well prepared and served warm! The ambiance is nice inside and outdoor seats were enjoyable- live musician outside, good condition tables/chairs, very lively!

Get the seafood chowder! It's the best evah! It's served piping hot and chock full of fish, shrimp and a mussel on the shell. The fish and chips were also quite tasty. The manager at the restaurant is quite friendly and is helpful if you have any questions about the food. The place is spotless, they go over every detail in the restaurant whilst cleaning. Nothing is left to chance here. So go, eat and enjoy.

Lovely lunch curbside. The service is fast and friendly. Deliciously peppery mushy peas and most dishes are available in gluten free on request. Pull up a table outside to enjoy the coming and going of Cork.

It took a bit to find this place, but it was worth it. The fish was delicious. The restaurant itself was very quaint.

Great seafood. We ordered the seafood tower. The smoked salmon was the best I have ever had. No wonder it was an award winner.

There's a front bar where you can grab food, there's a back bar with a smoking area that sometimes has a DJ, and an upstairs that feels more like a proper cocktail bar - and probably more areas I've yet to explore. The food smelled delicious and I would've totally tried it had I not eaten before. I explored around a bit and ultimately hung out upstairs at the bar. The bartender that night was so friendly! We talked about everything from art to travel to politics. She was the best and made a mean cocktail. Not to mention, the entire place is decorated fantastically. It used to be an old pharmacy and ties in a lot of that history into the decor, including a bar made of old pharmacy ledgers. You could spend so much time just looking around at all the details and exploring each room. I hear it gets pretty lively here on weekends, especially with the college kids, but this particular Monday night was fairly quiet. I would definitely return if I'm ever in Cork again!

Really disappointed to see a display like that in an otherwise excellent pub.
