    Lobster linguine special

We had a great experience at Fishy Fishy on our first night in Kinsale. The location is great and the restaurant's atmosphere and decor was cute. The food was delicious and the wait staff accommodating and attentive. We had a group of 6 adults and a toddler and fit nicely. The seafood was all cooked perfectly and had delicious flavor. We thought the brown bread was incredible and the waitress told us that it's made with stout- yum! Overall, we enjoy each of our dishes as food. Note- there is a kids menu, but for our American kid, smoked salmon Mac and cheese didn't do it. Overall, great experience- we'd recommend!

Okay, Rick Steves recommended Fishy Fishy in his Ireland book, so we went. We were not disappointed. Fish and chips that were out of this world- lightly battered, perfectly cooked and not oily at all. If you only do fish and chips at one place, this would be it. The hummus was yummy, and someone at our table had the pate ands loved it. (Not me! I'm not a fan of any pate.) The service was friendly and thorough. The ambiance is fine. Maybe it's a little up scale, yet lots of clientele was casually dressed, including us. So, you can come as you are (assuming you are casually dressed or better.) I would go again for sure. My sense is that the whole menu needs to be explored!

A quaint seafood restaurant in the lovely town of Kinsale. We didn't want to miss this opportunity to eat here. Of course we only had time for apps since our tour bus was leaving but it was all fresh and amazing. When we return to Kinsale we hope to explore the whol

Lunch for two. The area is lovely. Quaint and alive. Said to be foodie town. It was a great experience. Fishy Fishy was off the hook! (Ok. I had to do it). Oysters super. Fish chowder unique and bold. The main courses were awesome. Best bay scallops I've ever had (with a green risotto that was lovely) - and I've dove for scallops in Maine. The heat special was wonderful. Very generous portion. Sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was amazing. Light and not too sweet. Service was awesome. Wish we could go back tomorrow, but we're on our way back up to Dublin.

Ordered the house Pinot Grigio and the pan fried scallops with spinach risotto and oh my! I'm not a fan of things too fishy or rubbery. Took a chance and totally worth it! Not to mention the molasses type brown bread. Divine!!

Terrible is a good word for the good and service here. Don't come here. They are rude from the host stand to your departure and the food is not even good enough to be marked as mediocre.

Fantastic. Incredible. We had the oysters, baked lobster, the crab claws, a side of veggies and the seafood chowder. And the crème brûlée. The atmosphere was casual/upscale with lots of families celebrating Easter and enjoying the holiday. Service was really warm and proficient, it was clear they wanted you to feel wanted. Highly recommend as this is a great dining experience for the price.

On our day trip to Kinsale, we stopped by Fishy Fishy for lunch & I'm so glad we did. I have celiac disease so eating out can be difficult for me as I have to eat gluten free. However, the staff at Fishy Fishy made me feel so good about what to order! They knew immediately what I could or couldn't eat and were happy to make accommodations for a particular meal I wanted. The fries have a chance of cross contamination unfortunately but I didn't even care in this instance! I had the most tasty risotto with scallops. My husband and I finished off with a GF dessert that was basically like a big meringue with strawberries on top. I also had a cider! My non-gf husband enjoyed his fish and chips. We both had a great meal and I highly recommend it!

Food and service was outstanding! Atmosphere is sophisticated but comfy. We started with an order of Crab claws with parsley cream. It was creamy and packed with flavor. We also had the Grilled Salmon - it was some of the best we've had. Prepared perfectly with a sauce they should bottle!

Fantastic recommendation from Yelp & our tour guide. Best fish n chips we've tasted so far (just came from London) everything we tried was so delicious and fresh! Must haves are the tempura haddock and wok fried crab claws. Enjoy with a pint of Murphy's! Great service & location makes this a 5 star choice.

We were looking forward to this restaurant as it had good reviews, so we were disappointed when we didn't have the same experience. Our server was lovely but the food was awful. We were in and out in 30 minutes and we did order drinks and eat. I ordered the yellow fin tuna and my mother ordered the fried fish. I order tuna like this often so I know what to expect, but this was inedible and I believe it gave me food poisoning. I only ate a few bites as the texture and smell were off. I cannot prove the food poisoning came from this but it is my best guess. After eating there and interacting with some locals they too have had similar experiences and tell people not to go here (wish we had talked to them first!).

I love seafood so it's natural that I gravitated to this restaurant during a few trips to Kinsale. This restaurant was recommended by a coworker and I've gone with a group of friends or as a solo outing. It's pretty tough to get a last minute reservation but if you're okay with a little wait at the bar then they'll find a way to fit you in. This restaurant is pretty popular and they take a lot of pride in their dishes. The presentation is great but nothing compares to the delicious taste of flavor. My favorite go to dish is the crab claws in chilli sauce. If the crab claws isn't available I usually ask for any variation of seafood with the sweet chilli sauce. The sauce is so good that I try to enjoy every bit of it and even add it to my rice. I can't wait for my next experience dining at fishy fishy!

This was easily the best of the four fish&chips we've tried so far in Ireland. Outstanding actually. The batter had the most perfect crunchy texture, wasn't too thick, and it adhered well. The fish was just-off-the-boat fresh, flaky and cooked just right. The portion was enormous - two fillets, one large and one medium, with a relatively small portion of good fries. The tartar sauce was tangy with tiny chopped pickles. Vinegar was available at the table. This was served with a small salad of lettuces, spinach, scallions, and onions. Price was surprisingly low given the portion, right around average for fish&chips in our experience so far. We ordered the entree salad with the locally made goat cheese add-on for a small extra charge. More excellent leafy greens, beets in small cubes, pomegranate seeds, picked onions, candied nuts and plenty of chèvre in large pieces. It was pre-dressed with vinaigrette and drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Very good, a far better choice for us than two orders of fried fish. Also on the menu were 3 other kinds of fish (monkfish, black sole, and plaice), each prepared differently. Shrimp scampi, seafood au gratin, and steamed mussels rounded out the seafood section. Oysters are on the menu but they weren't available that day. Other than seafood there were also burgers (beef and veggie), chicken wings, soup of the day, chowder, a steak, lasagna, pan roasted duck breast, cannelloni, liver paté, spring roll, and more. So a very extensive menu here, and not just the same things found everywhere. Sadly we didn't have room to try their desserts, which included sticky toffee pudding, banoffi pie, flourless chocolate cake, and meringue pie with raspberries and ice cream. They were hard to pass up.

I liked my lasagna and merlot. My husband thought the burger portion was bigger than most…read morerestaurants here. Funnily enough - we accidentally spilled a drink on a couple and paid for their drink and then in return, after they found out it was our honeymoon, the couple covered our meal!

My sister has been craving lobster but it's not on any menus. We were seated at a great window table, and they said there was an added starter which was a grilled half lobster. SOLD x 3. It's a fixed price with many choices. One had the sea bass, one the pork belly and one the lamb. All were unbelievably great with beautiful sides, and because it's Ireland, a bowl of salted roasted potatoes. We split a bottle of great wine and made the trip back to our B&B in about 30 seconds! Not perfect but I still recommend it wholeheartedly and would love to return. We made a reservation for 6:00 and for a little while we were the only ones there. Did we even need a reservation? Yes. It was full by the time we left. And I'm sure summer is harder. There's a small selection of wines by the glass, all of which I've never heard of, mostly of European origin. We both liked our López De Heredia tempranillo and I chose the same when I had a second glass. The menu is prix-fix, sort of. Starter plus main for €49 - though there's a small surcharge for some items, like my scallops appetizer. Dessert is extra but inexpensive in comparison (€7-8) If you're a picky eater be sure to check the menu before coming and make sure something appeals. There's nothing crazy weird here but the selection is small. We had no trouble with the menu choices. My Sauté Scallops starter was prepared with venison broth, lovage, celeriac, Coppa ham, Irish Winter Chanterelles, wild leeks, peas, and cream and was truly excellent and very pretty. I particularly liked the slight caramelization of the tops of the scallops, the subtle flavors and textures of the vegetables, and how the broth flavor changed as the cream (which was apparently whipped) slowly melted in. The wife's Baked Goat's Cheese, with wilted leeks, roast butternut squash, pumpkin seed, confit of shallots in red wine, and hazelnut oil was also excellent, and beautiful. My main was Slow Cooked Irish Pork Belly: hint of 5 spice, rhubarb puree, carrot with lovage, braised local cabbage. I did like it, especially how all these different flavors somehow worked together (5-spice, rhubarb, and lovage - who knew!) And I finally figured out that the crusty part on top wasn't overly dried fat to be removed but a layer of sugar, caramelized, dark brown and which shattered like glass when cut into. Very intriguing. What I didn't like about it was the haphazard presentation - the various ingredients arrayed around the plate in random fashion with a single chive thrown on top seemingly as an afterthought - and that the portion was a bit small for an entree (as was the wife's, while both the starters were generously sized). The wife's main was Pan Fried Irish Lamb Cutlets, with chestnut mushrooms, Meli-Melo of vegetables, Sacred Basil Jus. What is meli-melo? French for mess or jumble, but it sounds better, right? As for the sacred basil, it's Indian and has a spicy, peppery, clove-like flavor not like the kind we're accustomed to. Perfectly cooked lamb cutlets and intriguing flavors but like my entree I thought it was too small (but she was fine with it and even gave me some!) All entrees are served with a side of steamed local potatoes, adorned with just a slight salt crust and chopped chives. I know Ireland is famous for potatoes but this seems rather gimmicky to me. Dessert selection is very limited. Just 3 that day: Sticky Toffee Pudding, Bourbon Vanilla Crème Brulèe, and a cheese/fruit/nut plate. I've been on a Sticky Toffee Pudding kick lately so I tried that. It was good but nothing special despite their attempts to make it differently. The pear and date compote was too subtle and as for the toffee & green cardamon sauce: I think I liked but there wasn't nearly enough of it. The pudding part was also small for that matter. As for ambience, it was a nice relaxing setting, even as the room filled up, our small table was by the window and had an assortment of fresh flowers in a vase and a real candle. Our waiter was ok but would only say that the green in the salad we asked about was "some kind of lettuce I think", though on pressing him he did ask the chef who said it was winter purslane. I suspect he's new and will eventually learn how to better handle challenging diners such as ourselves.
