This was an absolutely perfect experience. From the food, the wine, to the staff, all amazing! Jill, Helen, and a gentlemen whose name I forget (I'm sorry!) were all so kind and helpful. The chicken skin with the bacon jam and mascarpone was so tastey. All of the courses were excellent. The duck may have been the best duck I've ever had. Thank you all again so much for having us!

Amazing food, atmosphere and prosecco cocktails. Spent 2 nights in kinsale and came across this place on our way to dinner. Stopped in for a drink and it was the best decision we made. Looked forward to going in the next night for dinner as they were booked solid.

Crocettes, amazing seafood chowder, truffle orzo, everything was delicious. + friendly staff.

The duck leg was highly recommended by our server who said that the meat just melts off the bone. It was anything but. The meat was so tough I could barely cut and chew it... and left almost all of it on my plate. It was served with very tiny slivers of sweet potato chips with odd tasting berries. When I complained to the server (who had been absent a while), she apologized and said I wished I had told her sooner... but I couldn't find her. The stone bass was thick and bland tasting. The one saving grace was the brownie dessert.

The restaurant is one level below the trendy and beautiful bar and lounge, and has a stunning upscale ambience, not industrial, but warm and welcoming. As with many restaurants in Ireland, they offer a two or three-course prix fixe menu; here it was 29 or 39 euro, a quarter to a third higher than the usual run-of-the-mill place. But it was definitely worth it, even if it hadn't been included with our room. Ours was the two-course; we could choose either a starter or dessert, so we had starters. Mine was the spinach/rocket/strawberry/walnuts/fried goat cheese salad. I don't like rocket (we call it arugula), and it was no problem to have that changed to lettuce. It came with a raspberry walnut dressing, and was delicious. My husband chose Risotto over an Arrabbiata/tomato jam sauce. They turned up as three plump Italian rice balls, and the dish was equally delectable. My husband had the Linguine Pasta for his main. It was outstanding, and I wish I'd ordered it, too. But I picked the prawns. I had high hopes, since everything else had been so good. Alas, they were awful, with a strange, unidentifiable taste, not quite iodine-y although, since I've never dined on iodine, maybe that's what it was. The manager, Miriama, was apologetic and so willing to swap it for something else, but I was already full and was satisfied with a very good cup of coffee. If this hadn't been marred by the terrible prawns, it would have been a 5-star rave. But overall, the dining experience was so lovely, and the service and ambience so good, that I have to give it 4.

Never thought I would fall in love with streak until this dining experience! I think about this dish all the time and make it a must to go back and enjoy it again. Not to mention I was introduced to my favorite and go to red wine at this restaurant, so Eco has a special place in my heart. The restaurant is in a fairly busy section of Douglas but was able to find parking after circling a couple times. The restaurant is pretty small and can be a bit crowded and in true European fashion, toasty and warm. Eco is a great restaurant that many including myself enjoy and make a point to go to whenever in the area!

If you are…read moreplanning to go there during the night time or over the weekend, you must call to book ahead to avoid disappointment. I have been here before once for a family dinner and I was delighted as the food was great (even though I am usually in love with Italian grub anyway) and the place was booming with guests. This time I went with a few friends for lunch and it was only alright to be honest. As it was a Monday lunch, the restaurant had space for walk-ins. The atmosphere is quite nice with wooden furniture, big bowls, candlelight and when you check-in with Yelp, you get 2 free glasses of wine (woohoo!). I ordered Tagliatelle al Salmone served with basil cream and garlic bread and people around me choose many different options: beef sandwiches with side of chips, penne with chorizo, an open ciabatta with chicken/salad and farfalle with spicy sauce. My pasta was not fabulous but only alright and the side of fries was unfortunately made of thin strings. Everyone ate and it went well but it was not as good as when I was here last time in terms of taste and smell. The average lunch price for a plate of pasta or a sandwich as a main is 15€; they serve jars of water and as vegetarian options they have nut burger, stir-fry and curry. For starters, it varies from salad to corn and soup costing around 5€. Desserts are also around that price and you can expect ice-cream, brownies, banoffee pie and apple crumble. Prices rise by nearly a fiver in dinner time and from what I saw on the menu, the amount of choice is greater later on, hence its popularity then! Also, having a bread basket as antipasti and Parmesan on the table would add a lot to this place. Anyway, I would recommend going at night for sure!
