It lacked caramelization with both the apples and the topping. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be? Apples just need to be cooked down a bit to get the optimal texture and color. Upon entering I was impressed by the somewhat typical Irish pubness of the bar, but yet it had a cool style all of its own that sets it apart from all other Irish pubs. Venturing further back, we had the back room reserved off to the left, but more on that later. It was out to the coolest beer garden in County Cork, nay in Ireland. It's on two level, the back wall made up of the shell of an older building. Picnic tables a plenty, because the beer garden also has a food truck. A most excellent food truck called The Field Kitchen. We had stuffed mussels and fish n chips. Both excellent. Later as the night drew in we retreated to our reserved room, which had a handy window into the bar and wood burner in the corner. We revelled the rest of the night away, retailing each other of the great wedding the night before. It was a great weekend, which was enhanced ten fold by our party in Blackbird.

We had been to the Tannery (also in Dungarvan) the night before, rated as one of, if not THE best restaurant in Ireland (a reservation we had for months) and we were sorely disappointed. The Lazy Lamb however was a welcome surprise. Irish with Mediterranean flavor, the roast lamb special was lovely - perfectly seasoned, juicy and beautifully served. The fish was fresh, vegetables were crisp and not overcooked, and the desserts were delicious works of art. Even the service was perfect - not overly solicitous. I live in a suburb of NYC and have been to some of it's best restaurants. Save yourself some money and disappointment and skip the Tannery. Go here instead.

Other elements provide a diversity of mouthfeel, but I felt some of them were a bit of nuisance as their textures sometimes did not feel harmonized together.

We've been there a few times and a couple of times it seemed like the service was a bit slow. We have had to remind the waitstaff what we ordered. They're always polite and apologetic about anything missed, but they are a bit slow fairly often. The food is unimpeachable. The taste of almost everything on the menu is amazing. The portion size of the menu can be a bit mismatched. I'm not that hungry of a person but a single sushi roll will not suffice for your average appetite. Be prepared to order multiple courses or a few sides but it can add up fairly quickly. I usually get the hot roll and something else but it usually comes out to about 45 euro or 50 usd. It's a good restaurant but be prepared to pay a bit more and wait a bit longer. Delicious though!
