We recently had the extreme pleasure of dining here 3 times during our 2 day stay in Ardmore. Other than our hotel, there aren't many local dining options so White Horses was an eye opening treat. It is cozy more than elegant. The background music was solely the warm and relaxing music of Mary Black, very much to our liking. A gander at the reservation book on the front counter is strongly recommended as it is not to be believed. The food: sublime, surprising and heartwarming. We went in late for lunch the first day intending to have coffe and scones. That plan was immediately scotched upon seeing the home made desserts artfully displayed as you walk in. When we sat, and I heard they had a warm turkey and ham plate we had to redirect once more. It was yummy, ample and the aforementioned heartwarming. I think my wife had some kind or warm open faced sandwich that she loved, but I can't remember what it was and since she's not here at the moment, more I cannot add. We split a meringue, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream for desert that was exotic and delicious. After they assured us they would have lobster thermidor that night, back through we tumbled a few hours later with our traveling companion. I have only had lobster thermidor a handful of times previously, but none were remotely like this. It was somewhere beyond delicious, an ample portion and supassed any expectation. My wife and our chum were equally pleased with their meals. For dessert (you cannot skip dessert here) I had a meringue whipped cream log kind of creation that was unlike anything I have had previously. From the look of it I thought it would be heavy, but it was not and per usual it was great. My wife had a warm fruit crumble that she went bonkers over. Again, I don't recall what our chum had, but she was equally effusive in her praise for the entire experience. 15 hours later we stormed back in for a divine lunch. All I can remember was the tiramisu which was large and vastly superior to any of the many I've enjoyed over the years. Each time I paid I felt like it should have been more expensive than it was. I couldn't recommend White Horses more highly and look forward to our return. read more
