Usually food is my first priority in life. During this trip to Ireland, I keep getting sidetracked by roadside livestock, enchanting castles, and wool shops. I can't tell you how many wool shops I've visited thus far.. Anyway. It was 4 PM, I had yet to eat a single bite of any sustenance, and hAngriness had set in. When my mom announced she was tired of driving, I searched for nearby restaurants on Yelp while on the highway. Bailey's popped up first. [Side note: I later learned the Rock of Cashel was in the same town and had a huge historic significance in Ireland/Northern Europe. I have no idea how I missed this fact while planning the country trip....but a hint of luck saved the day!] Bailey's is a pretty average spot sight-wise. It has a bar. It's downstairs from a B&B. It has a comforting wood-based interior. Friendly servers. TV showing the local game. The food? Awesome! I had been craving spinach dip for days, so spotting it on the menu was a nice surprise. I ordered it as a starter to split and couldn't have been more happy. It was SO GOOD. It also came with really nice sour cream and salsa. The tortilla chips reminded me of slightly crunchy pie crust. For my meal, I ordered the parmesan crusted chicken and bacon salad with parmesan dressing and potatoes. When it arrived, I couldn't believe the size. It was MASSIVE. There was no way I could possibly finish that monster, but I sure tried! The bacon was thick, juicy and fresh. The chicken was incredible. Even the lettuce was tasty. What a great execution. I'd highly recommend a stop here if you're staying at the B&B, visiting the fortress, or just passing through. Big fan.

Amazing place. We were driving around in Dashel and we asked a local where to eat. They definitely pointed us in the right direction. The waitress was amazing and so helpful - plus Vet patient because we couldn't figure out what to order. After changing my mind a few times I settled on the pan roasted cod with risotto. It was amazing! Buttery, light and perfectly cooked. We will make a point to go back to this restaurant when though it is 2 hours away from where we are staying. Worth the trip! One think about Ireland is that everyone is so friendly and helpful. I even asked the lady seated next to us how her dish was and she actually cut a piece and gave it to me to try. I declined but she insisted and I accepted. Wow. So nice of her. Thank you Bailey's and staff for an amazing dining experience.

It was between this place and one other. Wow, did I make a good choice. The seafood gratin was excellent! It mainly contained the most wonderfully cooked salmon and little bits of crab in a delicate white sauce. The accompanying salad of butter lettuce had the most wonderful vinaigrette on it. I sat outside underneath the flowering wysteria that had an fragrance that lingered, while a roadside band featuring young and old muwalked down the road playing bagpipes. How can the evening get any better in Ireland?

Lamb shank

One of the few places that were still open when we drove into Cashel around 8 PM. It's not just small towns in Ireland, it seems to be the entire country closes at like 7 when it comes to food. But we managed to find Bailey's open. They were busy when we walked in but they were eager and quick to find us a place right away despite basically a full house. The server was attentive and gave great recommendations. We ordered the lamb shank and seafood gratin. The lamb shank was a generous portion and the meat was tender. But the sauce was a bit too tomatoey for my taste. The seafood gratin was perfect. It came with a side salad, chips, and a really nice helping of seafood. The flavors were delicious and the dish was well worth the price. Overall, I would say the chips were the highlight. They were the perfect crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside texture. The restaurant is an intimate atmosphere and a nice place for late night food. We were too full but their desserts looked like they are worth a try.

My fish was outstanding!

Absolutely delicious lunch! We did a Yelp! search for food after touring the Rock of Cashel and decided on Bailey's Cellar Bar. The atmosphere was cozy and lovely, we enjoyed chatting with the bartender, and my fish was DELICIOUS (see photo). We highly recommend eating here!

The cod goujons and duck salad are fantastic. Seating outside is very comfortable as well as scenic. The service was friendly.

After a large fried break wanted veggies. Tomato mushroom bruschetta with a side salad was light and gourmet.

The decor is classy and cozy, good vibes, excellent service, and outstanding food. We started with the Pumpkin Empanadas. The first bite of this literally caused our jaws to drop. Tears forming as the flavor took us on a ride to our most sweetest moments in time. Crispy, stuffed with gold, I could eat thousands of these. Next, the Mikey's Premier Burger. The patty was so moist that the crispy bun with it created a wonderful mouthfeel. I'm not even sure what sauce was on the burger but it completes it. This burger requires no extra work from you. It's packed with flavor. Of course it is accompanied with 3 time fried thick fries. You could break these open and see the heat coming out. It was very hard to let these cool before eating. My wife ordered the Grilled a chicken with mushroom sauce. Home run. I know assume that you cannot go wrong with any choice here. Cheers to this gem in a lovely town. Shoutout to John the doorman of the partnered hotel, he was so kind and showed us the immaculate gardens.

We expected typically pub food and atmosphere but after a 1 or 2 minute wait were ushered into a light and bright back dining room. They offered was much more upscale than Pub food. We had the leek and garlic soup which was a good sized portion and a Waldorf salad both of which were tasty. The group also had the burger and fries which was excellent while 2 of us had the chicken schnitzel topped with greens and fennel. The schnitzel was the best meal I've had in months. The server was attentive and the food arrived in a timely manner. If you are done seeing the Rock of Cashel and are looking for an excellent lunch or dinner spot give Mikey Ryan's Bar and Kitchen a try.

There was a rather elderly fellow sitting next to the Mister at the bar and he overheard us discussing our engagement. Well - we had a new friend! He was thrilled we would have such an important event in his area and we discussed his kids who now live in the US. After about 10 more beers I went up to bed. Mister dragged himself to bed much later. Turns out our new BFF had just walked down for a paper and his wife had to come collect him. This is the kind of good time you can expect here - people are welcoming, kind and you wont be a stranger for long!

I was craving the chicken curry dish, my husband got the meat plate (steak fillet, two lamb chops and two pork links- all three on a layer of mashed potatoes, fries AND onion rings!!! His plate was 16.95Euro! So reasonable for this amount of food and it was A LOT of food!!!! My husband loved it so did I. The meat tender and brilliant. He is still talking about how wonderful his dish was. My curry chicken dish came with fries and rice- again it's a lot of food that I couldn't finish 15.95 again SO reasonable!! Not only was the food brilliant our conversation was great with the owner Mickey. We chatted for a good long while and we feel like we made a new friend! This is the best food we've had on our travels thus far, a fantastic hole in the wall find. You won't regret waiting for your food!

I was able to make a reservation via Facebook a week in advance as I was traveling internationally. It was busy for a Wednesday night but if you went on the early side 1700-1830, you could likely get seated without. The service was great, you order your starters and main course in a waiting/bar area and they take you in when your table is ready. The bread comes with a beetroot spread which is delicious! I ordered a pulled pork/mushroom ravioli as a started. It was delicious--the flavors were amazing and it might be the best dish I've ever eaten. After, I had the duck, served well done. It came with a thyme gravy, cherries, butternut purée, and vegs--wow! Served with a side of potatoes but I just sampled them because the dish was plenty. Wanted to order dessert but was too full. Overall a great meal and service. The location in downtown Cashel is wonderful and the old church, a beautiful setting.

Professional and courteous staff, great setup with a great (but a little too concise of a selection) bar as a waiting room, and the food is amazing. The prices are reasonable for such a great restaurant which I was not expecting, being a previously listed Michelin star restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cashel, and is worth driving out of the way to visit. The restaurant is also in an excellent location, within walking distance of the Rock of Cashel, and several nice local bars. As someone who makes a point to always going to new places when traveling, this is one place I would be more than happy to visit again.
